We had a beautiful meal here in this wonderful pub. The staff were so friendly and made a fuss of our 2 dogs. Lots of doggy treats available too so our dogs loved it. I had the macaroni cheese with crispy bacon on the top with a side salad, it was perfect. My husband opted for fish and chips, it was a huge portion and he cleared his plate. Great choice of desserts as well so we had crème brûlée with shortbread biscuits on the side and crumble and custard. The pub was decorated beautifully, light, airy, very clean with modern decor. We sat and had a few drinks as the atmosphere was lovely with their friendly staff. We would thoroughly recommend it here and can’t wait to come back

First festive meal this year and it was beautiful. It was the best turkey we have had in a long time, so moist and tender and the vegetables cooked just the way we like them. Service was friendly and very professional. We will be visiting again before Christmas.

Took my father for. 93rd Birthday treat after good experience here for Sunday lunch , oh boy how disappointing I requested lamb for my father minus the cottage pie the lady serving first said they could not do this but then decided they could but only at full price . Never the less we moved to order asking if the chef could ensure the lamb was fully cooked but avoid being tough (after all he is 93) the response was abrupt stating if you cook lamb it goes tough , at that point we left and went to the Robin hood on the military road whose staff could not have been more helpful .

We called in the swan at about 4pm on Wednesday afternoon. There was only couple of people in, and we were doubtful that they would still be serving food. I was wrong! Lovely lady at the bar told use menus on the tables and sit down and see if there anything you’d like. It was slightly before the evening menu started bit we didn’t realise this and again it wasn’t a problem. I had button mushrooms to start and a veggie pizza. Hubby had prawn cocktail then duo of lamb. My starter was delicious, piping hot with garlic and melted cheese and two slic3s of toasted bread. The prawns were a good size and hubs said lovely. Pizza came and it was fabulous, one of the best I’ve had😍 hubbys lamb came and it consisted of ashepherds pie and several huge lamb cutlets and vegetables. Both were excellent value, prepared quickly and tasted divine. Lad you brought the food was polite, friendly and efficient. I must say all the staff were lovely, food tremendous and place was great I’ll definitely be back.

Food really nice, staff extremely attentive, very good service, all spoilt by a group of middle to old aged men sitting on top of you whilst having food with your wife, in a nearly empty pub because you have “their table”. Really it’s a pub not a club and it’s 2019. Disgraceful won’t be rushing back!

Booked a table for 6pm tonight. When we arrived there were no staff to be seen at all. People were waiting at the bar to be served and other diners were commenting on the lack of service available. We waited quite a while and even went around the restaurant area looking for staff. Feeling ignored we decided to look elsewhere and after reading some of the reviews I feel we had a luck escape. We ate at the Badger in Ponteland and the staff, food and atmosphere were first class.

Visited yesterday with friends for a catch up. The meal was lovely. There was 8 of us all the meals came together. The staff were very friendly. The manager was on hand and very hands on making sure that all customers were being looked after without being over attentive. Will definitely be going back.

Decided to give The Swan a go. It’s been a while and we hadn’t been in since the refurbishment. Lovely welcome on arrival. The decor is much improved and since the removal of the carvery is more spacious and lighter. I opted for the two course special - baked Brie for starter and scampi with thin fries for mains. My other half opted for lobster & prawn cocktail and steak & ale pie with veg. Food was well presented and all of it very fresh and tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly. I’m sure we’ll be making a return.

I booked a table for Fathers Day as my 85 year old father has been ill and house bound. I went in to the restaurant to pay my deposit and ensure the table they were sitting us at was suitable for my disabled father. When we arrived our table had people sat at it and they had to be moved. When the food arrived my mother and fathers had to be returned to the kitchen as the meat was so tough it could not be cut with a steak knife. We had waited so long for the food to arrive that my father could not face eating anything and went without. The only plus were the staff were lovely, the young girl could not apologise enough. The final insult was no reduction in the final bill despite the whole situation spoiling our fathers day outing. My daughter who was with us and works in hospitality was horrified.

Very disappointed. Has this pub changed hands because it was very good the last time we came. Very poor quality of food and poor presentation. Staff friendly. Very expensive for poor quality food. Lamb rump was nearly all fat and the very little meat on the fat was chewy. The "home made" crumble was made with bought "pie filling" which was sickly sweet with a very small amount of fruit amongst the sticky gloop. Cant recommend this pub and wont be going back. Very very quite, hardly and customers and I didnt see anyone in there just having a drink. Such a shame.

Went on a wet Sunday looking forward to a treat and came away feeling somewhat cheated. Not the place it used to be. An extremely long bar with many members of staff serving the tables in the dining room and only one barman serving the bar for both drinks and meals. Took so long to order our lunch I'd forgotten our table number. Anyway onto the food we'd all ordered something different one turkey, one pork and one beef. Waited very patiently for its arrival and waited and waited and waited when they finally arrived no apology for such a long wait (the place wasn't massively busy so couldn't justify why it took so long) The veg was lovely parsnips, carrots and greens with roast potatoes but some mash would have been nice. The Yorkshire puddings were somewhat flat and squashed but nevertheless tasty enough, the little individual gravy boats were a nice touch but since they are placed in the centre of your plate I expect to distract you from the lack of meat. The beef was three very thin fatty slices and the pork was three small squares of very salty, tough loin. At no point did anyone asks us if everything was alright and when we left we passed at least three members of staff and not one offered eye contact or even a cheery goodbye. Good customer service seems to be having an off day. As it was nice to be a dog friendly establishment I had been going to recommend it to family members with dogs but after our visit I think I'll pass.

Our night was ruined by the arrogant and rude attitude of one of your bartenders. Would never return despite having family living locally.

No volveré!

Amazing Sunday dinner, served so quickly by wonderfully friendly staff - the beef was beautifully tender and the vegetables were well seasoned. The place was full of happy customers!
