Swan Lake in Cheshire East

Not good at all. Not had a takeaway from here for a while but it was very disappointing. Sauces were watered down, tasteless food and expensive. Found a piece of wood in a spring roll, think it was from a skewer stick. Won’t be trying again.

Visited Swan Lake for the first time in a very long time. We thought we would try due to our local Chinese in Broad Street being taken over and in our opinion not as good as it was. However after our visit tonight to Swan Lake we will have to carry on looking for a Chinese that we like, as the meals were very disappointing. We had chicken, spring onion and ginger also beef with green peppers and black bean sauce. They were accompanied by fried rice and chips. I've never had chicken that was so tough, also the beef was tasteless. The chips and fried rice didn't seem fresh. On top of that all the food was only luke warm. I'm sorry we won't be returning, anybody who does try this Chinese take away hope your experience is better than ours.

Well you can always tell a place by its reviews wished I had looked as there are only 2 since I wrote one. Not been as its takeaway but tonight collected one certainly will not be going again it was awful. Hot and sour soup tasted of vinegar. Spare ribs in a thick gunky sauce the chips not edible fried rice not good and special curry onions not cooked thick sauce. Sorry to say I don't know what's happened to the place.

The restaurant is closed so takeaway only. We were visiting the area and it was either this or the pub within walking distance. Very friendly service despite being very, very busy and one of the best Chinese take aways I've had in my life. I wish I had something as good as this local to me.

First time visited this take away and certainly won't be our last - absolutely beautiful and so hot! Had the set menu for two, more than enough for two! All dishes delicious, meat just melted in your mouth! Can not recommend highly enough!

We decided to go for a early doors Chinese. Food was OK soup was lovely but the mains only average. The prices have gone up since our last visit and very very overpriced wine. Service was as always good.

What a lovely intimate restaurant. The staff were friendly. The food was tasty, hot and excellent value. There was such a lot to choose from on the menu that I couldn’t decide. I can’t wait to visit again with friends to introduce them to this little gem.

Visiting family nearby and found this Chinese takeaway that had multiple gluten free options available. Ordered several gluten free dishes as Chinese takeaway is not usually an option for coeliacs. Good value, really tasty food. Excellent choices.

Takeaway was quite nice but I’m personally not a fan of their sweet and sour sauce - always good quality and good portion sizes ...

I travel from northwich for takeaways or book tables with the family. It always has been and still is the best. freshest and tastiest chinese food around. if i reccomend any chinese. its always swan lake. A gem in winterley.

This is a lovely restaurant for a relaxed evening with great food and service. Have visited several times and tried many of the dishes, all freshly cooked, hot, tasty and professionally presented. The service is always first class and you are made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended, as ultra consistent family run business.

We went to Swan Lake on Sunday evening, the first time for some of us, but not for others. I am coeliac and Tony could not do enough to help, the food was amazing, such wonderful food, will definitely be returning!

My son and his partner took me here as they eat here regularly- when we pulled up I thought they were joking as it just looks like a take away - until you open the door then you have a lovely cosy restaurant- the staff are all great the service brilliant - now the food the menu has a range of starters - mains and desserts- I had chicken syrup wings to start - they were lovely and juicy then my mains I had duck and mushroom and instead of rice I had garlic and onion chips omg these are to die for - there were 5 in our party and we all had different and every course was cooked to perfection I think I’ve found I new Chinese from now on this will be the place for me

We went to this fantastic little restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday. When we arrived I thought we'd made a mistake as it looks like a takeaway from the front, however we were ushered through a secret door feeling like we were on a movie set, only to discover an intimate dining area to the rear.

Order calamari that had grit in it and was definitely not clean. It could taste the stinky smell of the ocean bed in it. The duck was very unimpressive. The ribs we really dry and tough. About seven years ago this was a decent place but desperate for a Chinese and with our regular in Haslington closed we made the awful mistake of trying them again despite many mishaps. Certainly far better Chinese in the area.

My wife and I decided to try Swan Lake, as a friend of ours had told us they provided gluten free options on their menu. We both like Chinese food, but we haven't been able to have it because of the gluten. The place is a combined restaurant / take away, and you enter through the take away area. The restaurant itself is small, but very nice. The food was really good, and the service was excellent. If you are a coeliac (or if you're not) and you love Chinese food, this is the place for you.

Swan Lake look just like a small Take away.. In fact in holds around 40 on the restaurant too! when you go in look to the door on the left! its a RESTAURANT! I can recommend anyone to this place where ever you are in the country... because i know you will love it. Traditional family run business with no compromise on quality or effort.in my opinion the menu is too cheap! -not that im complaining as I just have more visits with the saving!

We visited Swan Lake for a birthday treat for a family member. We have had several takeaway meals which have always been fab but this was our first visit to the restaurant. Food as always was faultless and delicious. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable and all the team there are lovely. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely family run restaurant, where we had a family get together last night. The atmosphere was good, the food and service were excellent. The restaurant is really pretty and cosy. Often visited Swan Lake both as sit in or take away recently been to Hong Kong and Swan Lake food was far superior to any tried their excellent menu choices easily read and gluten free recommend to friends from various parts of the country when visiting Crewe and Nantwich

A group of friends and I went. With two vegetarians amongst us, we all thought the food was amazing. We had starters and mains all of which were delicious and freshly cooked. The owner was really friendly and we had great service. We'll definitely be back again!

Recently moved to Winterley and having now tried Swan Lake a couple of times I have to sing it’s praises. Every take away we’ve had has been delicious! Really tasty and not too greasy like some places can be. I can really recommend!

Took the recommendations from Trip Advisor and found our way to this unprepossessing little restaurant hidden away behind the take-away frontage.

Picked this restaurant as it was close to the hotel and I didn't want hotel food again. The frontage is a disappointment and I nearly didn't bother going in, but I'm glad that I did. The place was cosy, nicely decorated, clean (I didn't check the loos!), the food was a real surprise as the portions were huge and delicious and the service was great. Really friendly, attentive and smiley waitress/waiters - such a rarity these days. Would come again and recommend to friends.

We went to swan lake tonight with family, we had such a lovely warm welcome. The staff were so efficient and well mannered, they couldn't do enough for us. Made welcome from minute we entered the restaurant. The scallops with ginger and spring onion were superb as were the char Sui pork and sizzling steak. This restaurant will now become a regular for us.

Ignore first impressions, wait until you get into the restaurant itself. Nice and cozy, friendly atmosphere, very nice friendly staff who were attentive to our needs.. Nothing too much trouble for them. Excellent food, very good portions, piping hot and full of flavour. One member of our party had a coffee with his meal, was offered 3 refills. They apologized for being quiet. when are you opening in Macclesfield .? "We'll be back"

I have already reviewed Swan Lake (twice) but just had to comment one more time. We ordered takeaway food tonight for 8 people, it was absolutely delicious. It was piping hot and quite simply the best Chinese food we have ever tasted. Tony and Michelle never fail to impress us. Thankyou both.....and please never move away, we will have to follow you! x

Very nice and fresh food from this restaurant. The takeaway does get busy, especially Friday and Saturdays so allow plenty of time when ordering.There is also a restaurant, but tucked away at the back - I keep meaning to try this too.

We have eaten here many times but not yet submitted a review. It is brilliant. As good as anything you will get in China Town Mcr. It is a family run business and the quality of service is exceptional. It has reopened recently following a refurbishment which has improved what was already a cosy and welcoming restaurant. What this place lacks in grandeur it makes up in food quality and service.

Possibly the best Chinese food that I've ever come across, the restaurant itself has an excellent all round aesthetic as well.

Visited when staying at nearby caravan site. Very friendly owner and son. All cooking done by owners wife. Really good portions, excellent special fried rice - would have been enough for two. Highly recommended.

Best Chinese takeaway in the area. The set meal for 3 was tasty and they let is change a dish. The sweet & sour pork is especially good. I would have liked the large sized pancake rolls stuffed with beansprouts instead of the smaller ones, much more tasty.

Me, my wife and daughter visited Swan Lake early doors on a Saturday evening. Not been there for many years, even though it's only a couple of miles away, just one of those places that get overlooked. Made a big mistake overlooking this place. When we arrived there were a couple of others in there who were obviously regulars by the ongoing conversations and chattiness of the serving staff. We were made very welcome, but as they didn't know us were not over familiar. They let us initiate conversation, Which was nice. The specials looked good and the menu was what you'd expect at a Chinese restaurant. My daughter had only eaten at one of the Chinese buffet places, where everything is shiny and tastes the same, so she was expecting similar, she was wrong. We ordered 3 starters and 3 main courses (which we shared). The staff were only too helpful with choosing 3 varied mains as some can be spicy depending on where you eat. The food was beautiful, my daughter was amazed at the complexity of flavours between the dishes, and within the dishes. With a couple of drinks and the whole bill was around £50. Excellent value for an excellent evening. As we paid by card, we forgot to leave a tip, which we realised half way home. The whole experience was so nice we turned around and went back to leave a tip and thank the staff.

Place is small, but served up OK food! Nothing really to write home about but was good enough - nothing mindblowing mind.

This was our first visit to Swan Lake with 6 friends, we all ordered different meals and everything was delicious. The place itself is a small restaurant, but the food and the staff make it well worth a visit. We had coffees, desserts etc and the price was really good. All of us finished our meals, they were so tasty, choc mints with the coffee, finger bowls, hand wipes and fortune cookies were all provided. What a lovely experience it was. Thank you Swan Lake, we will be back!

We have used this takeaway on several occasions and the food is very tasty. The menu is comprehensive and the staff will help you make choices if youre not familiar with chinese food. Overall I would recommend this for takeaway food. We have not had the chance to enjoy a sitin yet, but will do soon and update.

Swan lake is by far the best Chinese restaurant in cheshire....it never ever fails to let us down with its fantastic food and great service...3 courses for just £11.50 or however much it is ,is a great deal as its food is so fantastic!!! The staff are friendly and helpful and you are sure to have a good laugh with them as they are very approachable.. I highly recommend the shredded crispy chilli beef,its the best ive ever tasted at swan lake,noone does it like they do.

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant around Sandbach! Don't bother with any of the others.. They don't deliver but it's worth the trip to collect or you can sit in for a meal! Prices are good, the food is very fresh and tasty! There's lots of different things to choose from as well as all the usual choices! Definitely give this a try :)

We had the most expensive set meal for 2 @£22.50. Soup then mix starter then duck pancakes all good. Mains were exceptional - beef satay very chilli, mixed sweet and sour including King prawns pork and chicken, and last but not least pork and mushrooms heavenly. Portions were large and the meal was actually shared with three of us. Service was attentive but a tad slow as we left after 2 hrs without any dessert ( we were offered fresh fruit) or coffee. Ambience a bit basic . Unfortunately we suffered from a very noisy large group at a neighbouring table and in such a small space as this restaurant they could not be ignored so we left early

We love Swan Lake! Plenty of choice on both the restaurant menu and also the takeaway menu.The early evening menu is excellent value. The owners are extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome.The shredded chicken in barbeque sauce takes some beating!

Myself and my wife have been eating here for 7 years - and we are really fussy about great food/service/value for money - and Swan Lakes ticks all of those boxes many times over!Everybody is entitled to their own opinion but Paul is clearly somebody who needs to get out a bit more in my opinion. We have visited this restaurant many times over the past few years and it never disappoints- food is always nice and quite good value. The family who own it are really friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant is quaint and has a lovely atmosphere.Will definitely visit again!

My family and I tried this take away tonight because our usual chinese takeaway, Champion House, Haslington was closed as Bank Holiday. We ordered Special Fried Rice, Char Sui Fried Rice, Plain Noodles, Chips and 2 large curry sauce. I could not believe that 2 extra portions of curry sauce came to £5.60. I could've ordered an extra meal for this price, I've never paid more than £1.80 for a large curry sauce, this is blatantly just ripping customers off, the portion wasn't even that large. Secondly, we could count on one hand the number of pieces of meat and prawns in the rice, disgusting. Thirdly, the chips were dry and hard. Surely it can't be difficult to produce nice fresh chips. Now we understand why Champion House is always busy and this one is always empty. If you are a regular at Champion House and it's closed one night, go and get a pizza! Paul

If you're looking for some delicious, fresh, stir-fried Chinese Hot Wokery then look no further! We've been a few times now to the Swan Lake when we're in the area, for take-away & sit down in the restaurant, & the meals have always been consistently good & very tasty. There is even a Specials Board too with some creative suggestions if you're feeling the urge for something different. The portions are generous, we've needed a doggy bag twice now & if you want something different or altered, the owners are very accommodating. In-fact, Tony & Michelle, the owners- very friendly & chatty- were talking about trying to source gluten-free soya sauce for some of their customers that have been enquiring & brown rice for the health conscious... I travel a lot & I've never been to a Chinese restaurant where there's gluten-free soya sauce, I'm impressed!Actually, I was even more impressed with the homemade chocolate with kirsch centre that they offered after the meal...now that's different to the ubiquitous orange slices! I hope the chocolates are going to be around next time we visit!

Not pretentious or overpriced, like some nearby, Swan Lake is a real good value favourite. It never disappoints, I go there as often as I can. Recommended.

Never eaten in the restaurant, but take our is excellent. I ring up and order exactly what I want and even though not on menu they make it up for me. Very good.

Meal for 2 was really tasty and not packed full of MSG. They even changed one course for us. Prawn toast was really good and the sweet and sour pork I liked a lot. Not the cheapest takeaway but worth it for the quality of the food.We have eaten in the restaurant before and was pleased with the food and service although the atmosphere can be a bit low as not many people eat in here - the restaurant could do with a makeover and I'm sure it would then attract more people.By far the best Chinese takeaway in the area (including Sandbach and don't even try the one in Haslington!).

After being disappointed with the orient in sandbach, we decided to try plan b- Swan Lake.Me and my partner have ordered a takeaway from here in the past and been satisfied. Tonight we ate it. Not much too look at however inside very quaint and relaxed atmosphere, Lovely staff very welcoming and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious in our opinion the best Chinese so far!! Would recommend salt and pepper chicken & beef in black bean sauce, however everything was so tasty!! We left a generous tip and most definitely returning, highly recommend!! *****

I've never eaten in the Restaurant, but I often grab a takeaway on the way home from Golf. The young guy who serves is very polite and chatty when you go in, always sports a smiley face. I usually have Chicken Cho Mein and the Girlfriend will have Salt & Pepper Chilli Chicken. The food doesn't take long to prepare and we have never been disappointed. One day we will go into the restaurant, and they have recently had a refit of the premises. It is right across from Winterley Pool, you would miss it if you didn't look. But thoroughly recommend you do try it.

Recommended by our daughter and son-in-law from the outside this looks like a typical Chinese takeaway, but it has a restaurant to the rear accessed via the takeaway. The meal was excellent and service fast and efficient, the manager and his family were very attentive even giving our granddaughter special chopsticks designed for children. We would certainly recommend this restaurant and will be returning in the near future.We had a variety of dishes and all were very good very tasty and great value for money.
