What a shame, went for a roast today and I was very disappointed, the beef was poor quality and chewy, the potatoes and parsnips were soggy as was the yorkshire pudding, all of it was Luke warm at best! The only reason I've rated it two stars and not one is because the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Had a Sunday roast a few weeks ago. The food was nothing special and overpriced. The chicken was dry and overcooked served with the smallest amount of vegetables. It felt like the whole menu is built around trying to get you to spend more.

This is a review of the events space (marquee). We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary in the marquee at the Swan in Swineford, September 2024. It was a great event and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We had 53 guests for a three course sit down meal with welcome drinks prior to the meal, after which the tables were cleared for dancing and a DJ. We were able to discuss and tailor our menu to suit our guests and we received many compliments on the food, which was very tasty. Our family had early access to decorate the marquee with lights, table decorations and flowers which made the marquee look beautiful and created a lovely atmosphere. We were able to return the next morning to do the take-down, there was no pressure. The only strict requirements were that music had to stop by 11:00 pm (due to neighbours) and aim to have all people off site by 11:30 pm. Lee, the manager, was very approachable. He was happy to discuss our needs and was very flexible with the layout and the menu choice. We were allowed to provide our own drinks and pay corkage as well as making use of the outside pay-bar. Staff were very friendly and seemed invested in the success of the party which made it seem like a joint effort. The marquee itself is 9 meters square and has a good-sized graveled area to the side with benches which are for sole use of the function space. The marquee is set in a large garden with outside bar, children’s play area and a carpark. We would certainly recommend the swan for family and social functions. Big thanks to Lee and the whole team.

The Swan – where plans come to die. If you enjoy rearranging your life for events that magically disappear at the last minute, this place is a dream come true. Who needs consistency or, you know, reliability and communication, when you can have spontaneous disappointment instead? Cheers to chaos!

We had a mile walk to get here, we were shown to our table where we were served pretty much straight away, and the food wasn't too long to wait for either. One thing that the food down was the fact that when ordering, we asked them not to add anchovies, but they ended up being left in any way. The pub is a dog friendly pub so you expect to see dogs. There were 2 small dogs that loved to bark with a high-pitched yap that I found painfully to my ears. Other than that, we would return if we ever down that way again.

Having ordered ham.egg and chips being a very simple meal that a teenager could cook, I received 2 uncooked eggs to a point I could separate the uncooked white and ham that had been clearly left on the side for hours as all bar a golf ball I'm the centre it was rock hard, discussed is a understatement if the chef cannot provide such a simple meal I'd dread to think what the rest of the menu served like

Went to The Swan to celebrate our son's birthday. We all pre-ordered our Sunday Roasts but the service was so slow and we had to wait 90 minutes for the food to arrive. The roast beef was awful. It was hard to cut and when I did try to eat some it got stuck in my throat and I ended up almost choking. The Yorkshires were cremated and the vegetables almost non existent. I complained and was brought a chicken dinner eventually which tasted quite bland. None of our party of 10 will ever go to The Swan again.

Really small portions. £12 for a lasagne that was literally 4 bites - I counted them. Shocking. Plus it was stodgy and looked like it was made 2 days ago and put in the microwave. I genuinely prefer a frozen one from Tesco. 5 times the size and £2, too. Poor vegetarian options. Plus, nowhere in the toilet to change my son's nappies or to throw the wet wipes with poo on them and no baby changer. Had to put them in a wicker basket for the staff to have to remove. Not nice.

We’d gone for a big walk nearby and thought we’d drop in for a pint and a bite to eat. Could not believe how expensive the food was £17.95 for fish and chips - fish was good but chips were a small portion of oven fries and a small portion of frozen peas. Gastro this pub is NOT. Overpriced food. My wife had the roast topside - also £17.95 - and it had a strange flavour in the gravy, which drowned everything else. Also had a glass of house red with the beef which was terrible.

A traditional country pub, with a cosy bar & two indoor dining areas - very warm & welcoming. We joined friends and family here for a Sunday lunch to celebrate birthdays & as we were a large party of 25, we were housed in the outdoor marquee. The weather was positively biblical that day, so it was a bit of an experience, but once the food arrived, our focus was elsewhere. At £16.50 for a roast, it was more than i usually pay but I can honestly say it was the best roast dinner I've had in a long time, everything about it was perfect. The food tasted absolutely delicious & was beautifully presented. The waiting staff were wonderful & took all the noise & chaos in their stride. My only bug bare was that there was an additional charge of £2 for extra gravy. This was a surprise, as a jug of gravy is usually a standard accompaniment with a roast. No photos this time, as there was so much going on, I forgot to pick up my camera! Go & see for yourself though, I highly recommend it.

Visited as part of private function, which ended up being shared with another private function, although one indoors (cold marquee) and the other outdoors. Not sure who laid on the impressive fireworks but the let down was the food. After a long wait hot dogs and burgers were available for the extortionate price of £8.50. Expect this price at a major event but not a local pub. Parking is limited especially for an event. Personally wouldn't go back.

If you are outside, the road noise is really loud. I have not tried the food but the bar service is good enough. A few meters north of the car park however is a public "picnic area" with ample parking under trees and really great woodland walks, well away from the horrible road noise. The downside of the place really though is it's proximity to the treatment works, currently enjoying a refurb. A westerly wind however, and you'd never know.

My self and my husband had lunch here today . My husband had 2 starters , popcorn chicken and mushroom and leek on toast which was lovely . I had the southern fried chicken salad …… the salad part was lovely , nice dressing and a nice amount of varied salad . However the chicken was literally 2 very skinny goujons that it seems were then sliced in half to make 4 very very small pieces of very over cooked chicken . My husbands popcorn chicken ( which was a starter has at least 3 times more chicken content ) I’m not a greedy person but this wouldn’t even gave been enough for a child’s portion . My husband did mention it when he paid as I really didn’t want to make a fuss . The flavour of the food was lovely but seriously the portioning in this dish is really poor and I would be embarrassed to give someone this as a main dish and charge £15.25 for a salad with 2 chicken goujons .

Very disappointed with the food. The ham was awful. It looked and tasted like it had been left in the sun for a few hours. The eggs and chips were good though. The quiche was meant to be Mediterranean vegetable but there were so few vegetables they couldn’t tell where they were from. The salad consisted of some rocket and there were some sun dried tomatoes/cold potatoes chucked in but no sign of the pine nuts. Over all we were very disappointed and would’ve said something if anyone had bothered to ask. The service was awful, the plates just plonked on the table. I asked for salt and that never came. The other sachets of sauce/mayo etc were left in the sun and very hot to touch so didn’t bother with them either. The Swan at Swineford will be glad we won’t be coming to you again.

Just had Sunday dinner here whilst on a break staying in Bitton visiting Bath. My husband had chicken and I had roast beef. The beef was horrible and over cooked and not pink at all. The roast potatoes and vegetables were very good but also no horseradish sauce available. Was very disappointed when we left to see a member of staff eating a beef dinner and it was pink. Especially annoying when he probably got his free, whilst I paid £16.00 for overcooked beef. I would have complained but thought it was because we ate at half five and it said the kitchen closed at six but there was clearly more beef available. I played The Bristol yesterday as a last minute booking and was very impressed with both the service and the condition of the course. I turned up roughly and hour early for my tee time because i had to drop my dad off for an operation at Southmead. The very nice lady in the pro shop got me off about 40 minutes earlier and I had a really enjoyable round. This was made even more enjoyable by the 2 groups if ladies in front of me who allowed me through on both the 6th and 8th holes. If I was playing at my home course, I'd have been stuck behind them all day, so I was was very grateful for them allowing me through. They are a credit to the golf club. I will be definitely visiting again soon providing the wet weather holds off.

If we decide to go out for breakfast on a special occasion (birthday) we usually go to somewhere else close to The Beehive, but decided to try the beehive, to support another local business. We ordered some coffees, which were nice and also ordered two English breakfasts. The breakfasts were tasteless, definitely cheap produce and everything was cooked in a lot of oil. Weatherspoons would have been a better breakfast! It's such a shame as you want to support local businesses, but often you can be disappointed. Won't be going back for food.

Very disappointed to see this store is now dog friendly. After coming here since it opened, today will be my last visit. This decision is extremely unfair on people that are allergic or have a genuine fear of dogs as I do. There is adequate seating outside the store for dog owners. There is no need for them to be in a FOOD PREPARATION AREA. I assume you will lose your 5 star hygiene rating as a store that welcomes animals can’t be classed as having 5 star hygiene!!! That’s the thanks you get for loyalty
