Ate twice in the restaurant whilst staying in the village as it was handy to walk. The food was fine and the service was attentive. Our favourite was the steak and ale pie. A bit pricey but nice to see the community trying to keep their pub open.

Had been to the Swan on numerous occasions before and would have highly recommended giving it 5 stars across the board. Unfortunately my visit to a few weeks ago was not the case. It started well, friendly staff . There was 4 of us and we ordered drinks and food. . 3 out of the party had roast beef. When it came it looked lovely but unfortunately it was tough and vexry chewy . We spoke to a member of staff regarding the poor food who advised that he would let the chef know that the food was inevitable. We asked the same member of staff what the outcome was and we were advised that the chef said we were just unlucky and no one else had complained Everyone left the beef . Non of the staff asked if we would like to order something else. It felt like they did not want to come near our table. The value of our meals were £60 (approx). The standard and service we received was poor. I did contact the Sawn by email over a week ago and no one has contacted us. I would not recommend the Swan based on the above.

First visit to the Swan for a while. Staff were excellent really attentive. Had the salmon and haddock fish cake for starter which was absolutely fantastic. Steak pie for main course which was really good and plentiful. Stella on tap which is right up my street If your looking for good quality honest food in a relaxed venue then the Swans your place.

What a really fantastic find and a real gem of a place to dine or go for a drink. Service was excellent and our server so attentive. Our meals piping hot and so delicious. Menus has plenty of variety and our choices were so appetising. Prices offer very good value for money. Decor is stylish and obvious much investment has gone toward creating a lovely establishment for pleasurable visit. Definitely recommend The Swan and would not hesitate to go back to this wonderful friendly village pub and restaurant in Banton just outside Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

Visited for Easter Sunday roast. We had the roast lamb and roast beef. Both were served with mash, roast root veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and plenty gravy. The fair was homemade, fresh, plentiful and well cooked. Definitely be back again!

Hubby and I popped into the Swan for lunch, having spotted it on Facebook. I never knew that this wee place, owned and run by and for the community, even existed! They have a standard menu and also a “market menu” where you can have 2 courses during the day for around £12. We opted for the latter and both had lentil and ham hock soup to start with. Thick, hearty and delicious. For mains, I had the fish goujons and my other half had haggis, neeps and tatties. Both portions were big, piping hot and lovely. The staff were very friendly. A lovely find 10 mins from home. Would highly recommend.

Had a lovely meal here in December and visited last week for lunch but a very different experience. Poor quality ingredients carelessly cooked and presented. We were also overcharged although we had asked for the meal deal which included soup at a lower rate. The waitress acknowledged this but insisted that the bill could not be changed. A very poor, unprofessional standard of food and service. Such a shame as pre Vious visit with different staff had been good. Staff training on customer service skills needed if they want to retain customers. Such an unpleasant experience for us we will not be back.

Visited the Swan for lunch on a quiet Monday in January. Was with my wife, son-in-law and baby grandson. We had an excellent lunch and to say I was pleasantly surprised would be an under statement. We all had the carrot and cumin soup which was definitely home made. I had the Cajun Chicken in baked potato, superb, while my son-in-law opted for the Cajun Chicken in a Ciabatta bread, which he said was also really good. There were three other couples there at the same time and their foot looked equally good and appetising. Looking forward to going back there again on our next visit to the area. Well done to all involved in this lovely cafe / bar. Thank you.

We have often been to the Swan but today's lunch was the worst meal I have eaten in a long while. My friend asked for the soup and sandwich option. The soup clearly came from a packet. It was overseasoned and quite gloopy. She had to ask for a spoon to eat it with. Apparently you don't automatically get a spoon with soup in Banton. There was no cucumber for her salad sandwich. The chef doesn't stock cucumber in the Swan kitchen. The bread was barely thawed from frozen. My gluten free macaroni cheese was made from packet mix and had only a nodding acquaintance with the gf pasta, which was undercooked. The chef denied it was a packet mix but I can recognise nasty overprocessed packet foods when I find them pretending to be freshly cooked food. With a coffee and small cider this "feast" came to just under £20, even although at least half the food was left. Cut out the middleman and eat your packet food at home. You'll be a lot better off...
