Ahorra tu dinero y vete a otro lado.

I picked the Swan based on the reviews and I'm so glad I did. Any easy walk from Waterloo along the river. We had the classic Romeo and Juliet themed afternoon tea which looked lovely and tasted delicious. We couldn't eat it all and we were able to take some of the cakes with us in a box provided by the restaurant. Perfect for what we wanted and I hope to go again. Definitely recommend

We had a lovely time at the Swan London for the Romeo & Juliet theme afternoon tea. The staff was very kind and the space is beautiful - also right next to the globe and easy to get to if you are touring other London sites the day you visit. Food was very nice; we got the "Classic Tea" which included sandwiches (egg & cress, smoked salmon), scones with cream & jam, and a range of desserts. Everything was presented beautifully and there was more than enough food to go around! There are a lot of teas around the city, some of which are definitely more "high-end". I would consider this to be a middle-to-high end tea that is priced reasonably, and I appreciated the themes as it is so close to the Globe. People were dressed in a range of dress code including everything from sneakers and jeans to dresses/button-down shirts. If you are looking for an extremely "high-end" experience ($$$$, tighter dress code, luxury food items) you likely would prefer to go to one of the luxury hotels nearby.

The main selling point for this restaurant is the view across the river to St Paul’s and, in the other direction, the tower blocks of the City. The food is good conventional gastropub fare and the service friendly. However I feel it’s overpriced for what you get, although that seems to be the case for most London eateries now. It’s part of the Globe Theatre enterprise and as part of the profits go towards maintaining the two theatres, I shall no doubt eat there again when I’m in that part of town.

A great date nite at the Swan with my partner! Delicious food with a selection of meat/fish/veggie and vegan options, good selection of drinks (both alcoholic and soft drinks), very attentive service. The ambience of the place is amazing, with unbeatable views on the river & St Pauls. And a cosy bar on the first floor offers a great opportunity for some after-dinner drinks if you fancy to continue the night. Thames Clipper pier is just steps away to jump on the last boat home west or eastbound. A truly special treat :-)

This was our second time at The Swan, and we were just as pleased as we were from our first visit. Both times were for afternoon tea, so we did not look at the regular menu. However, both teas were fantastic, and the amount of food was substantial. It's in a wonderful location literally attached to The Globe (part of the complex, anyway), and it overlooks the river. Service is excellent and reasonably attentive. My wife has several medical dietary restrictions, and The Swan handled them with ease. Normally, food with such restrictions can be "lesser" but that was not remotely the case at The Swan. Additionally, there are elevators/lifts in case anyone has a physical disability and cannot use the stairs. All of that good stuff costs money though, and if you're expecting bargain prices, you'll be disappointed. That said, quality isn't cheap, and we did not feel that it was overpriced for the excellent food and service provided. We returned after our first visit because of the positive memories, and we were not disappointed despite several years in between. Would we go a third time? I think that if we were in the area, it would definitely be a consideration, but since variety is the spice of life, we might look at another option in a different part of London. That has no bearing on The Swan itself, just our proclivities. But, if you are visiting the Globe or nearby and would like to find a great option for dining or afternoon tea, The Swan will not disappoint.

A beautiful location for us to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary date. We had afternoon tea (2pm) with a river view window looking across to St. Paul’s cathedral. I chose from the vegetarian menu ( also vegan available) there was your “normal” or gentleman’s . So we had one of those too. I had a selection of finger sandwiches inc my favourite egg! There were two scones ( fruit & plain) and a plate with small fondants with a theatrical nature. He had salmon sandwiches and sausage roll and mushroom tart on one plate. Then a lovely fish and chunky chip dish accompanied by mushy peas and tartar sauce. It’s all delicious and the service of the tea was very pleasant . You could have seconds probably even thirds knowing this place - and any choice of teas/ coffee. The ambiance was sophisticated, stylish with gentle music and seating areas very nice decor definitely will revisit !

I’ve visited this restaurant several times, and every other visit has been excellent. However, this time was a major disappointment. We had made a reservation towards the end of service, but the staff made us feel incredibly rushed to finish our meal and leave. I could understand this treatment if we’d walked in without a booking, but we had a legitimate reservation. For a bill that came to just shy of £300 for food and drinks, we expected the time and space to enjoy our evening properly. This level of service is simply unacceptable.

I've been to a few afternoon teas at London hotels and have to say this is the most creative and the best value. Ours was the Hansel and Gretel themed tea, with very fluffy scones (fruit and plain) and artistic pastries. These included the black forest gateau (the huntsman's log), fondant duck-topped mince pie, macarons and egg nog + nutmeg cheesecake. There were also (delicious) turkey and cranberry buns that looked like toadstools, mushroom vol-au-vents and class teatime favourite finger sandwiches. There is also a Gentleman's tea option, which has crispy haddock and fluffy steak chips, and there is a vegetarian menu too. All presented in the classic tiered cake stand and accompanied by tea from a silver tea pot. The staff were very pleasant and attentive and the views across the River Thames to St Pauls are a great backdrop to a lovely afternoon. And this is about half of the price of some London hotels afternoon tea packages but so much more creative. And did I mention the uber-fluffy scones??

The only thing we didn’t like was the mash potatoe which we ordered as an extra side. It’s tastes like packet mash potatoe which we”smash”. We mentioned it the waiter and he said it was new on the menu. It wasn’t nice but considering that was our only fault we would highly recommend and would return if in London again.

This is still my favourite spot in London for Sunday lunch. It offers fantastic food, a great wine list, the best view in London looking over the Thames at St Paul's, and the best staff anywhere in the world. I must say that great credit must go to Antonio, the manager, as you see staff who have stayed for months and years and seem genuinely happy to be working at Swan as part of the team. But I do want to single out Federica, who always greets you with a smile at the front of house and does everything she can to make you feel welcome into the restaurant, as well as Kevin. I took my sister for her birthday last Sunday, and he did absolutely everything to make our lunch memorable. Was fantastically attentive and sensitive, gave us time and space to order, recommended food and wines, bought a special birthday pudding (with candles!) out for my sister, and just looked after us superbly from beginning to end; thank you, Kevin, thank you, Federica, and thank you, Swan! Great food as always and wonderful view. Good and prompt service though would have appreciated server letting us know if restaurant had policy of requiring us to order a main meal each or if it was ok for us to share, as we had small eaters in the group. We ended up getting a suggestion and feeling pressured to order a kids meal for our small eater, when we actually asked for clarification on meal sharing possibility. Oh well.
