We went for an afternoon tea today to celebrate 20 years of marriage. We had a lovely table next to the window with a fantastic view of St Paul's and the Thames. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. There was a lovely festive atmosphere with pretty decorations. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it's value for money too in comparison with other places in London. Thank you 😊

Lovely afternoon tea experience! My friend opted for the more genteel Classic tea, whilst I, being greedy by nature, opted for the Gentlemen's tea and boy, what a great choise! Excellent fish, chunky chips and pea purree which was (luckily) a bigger portion than expected, a small "sausage roll" and other savoury delights. If you struggle to manage lots of sweet things, this is the one to go for. Attentive service, and a festive atmosphere... I would definitely recommend.... and will be back!

Having eaten here a couple times before, I was somewhat disappointed with the food. All of my guests complained about the rather high salt content of the food. Desserts were ok except the poached pear with the cheese cake. I think the chef forgot to poach the very tiny pear which if one tried to cut it with the dessert spoon it would have probably whizzed across the restaurant and knocked out some poor unsuspecting diner. Credit given where credit is due, the pumpkin soup and sourdough bread was rather delicious. Also the Chapel Down sparkling wine was scrumptious, would definitely recommend this wine. The restaurant was quite noisy for a Sunday late lunch, one could barely hear what people where saying from across the table.

Our afternoon tea experience was very nice. However the staff had not checked the notes I sent when I booked, where I’d let them know we were celebrating a birthday and that we had a vegetarian in the group. I was a bit disappointed by this. The food could have been fresher - some of the sandwiches were soggy and the biscuits soft. The variety was excellent and the gentleman’s tea especially good. I would return to try another menu. The setting is stunning and I think that is the main draw.

I have eaten at the swan many times and have always found it fantastic. However, on my recent visit it was very poor. At first we had to wait for our table which I have no issue with. Yet, the receptionist quite rudely told us you’re too early come back later. I would have preferred an offer to sit at the bar. So I asked could we and got a curt reply of fine. No one came to get us when our table was ready and I had to ask twice. When we did get to our table after requesting a window table to our booking coinciding with a birthday. We were sat a fantastic table set for two when we two minutes later we were asked to move as the table was needed for a booking of four. We were then placed in a dark corner away from the window. The booking for four did not appear during our visit. The service was poor. With all the staff that was on the floor, it took three attempts to ask for dessert menu until we gave up and left. I’ve known staff to be very attentive on previous visits but we were very much left in our dark corner. The food was fine. Just about warm. Very disappointed from a regular diner.

Thank you also to Nadia who took care of one of our party who was ill - very patient & kind. The food was nice - one of our party didn't think she had blue cheese on a burger special, but it was all very enjoyable and to a good standard. The service we had was great and they went above and beyond to help our party of 20. That part that lets it down is the very limited menu and the fact that the menu does not list everything in the items. We had a person who could not eat her food due to allergies, and they did not list the item on the menu. She found out that it contained onions when biting into the first bite. The restaurant is very nice and the staff are attentive which is really good. You brought out a little treat to my friend for her birthday which was lovely and unexpected! I spent £110 on the afternoon tea and two glasses of wine which is a lot for what you get although the food is lovely and quite filling. When we were told we had overstayed our allocated time we decided to head downstairs to the bar which is where the evening took a turn slightly. We asked if we could sit in a booth and were told this was ok and that someone would come to us to take our order. We ordered 2 glasses of pinot, exactly the same as what we had upstairs and were shocked to be given a bill afterwards for £27! The bill said we had 4 small glasses of wine and we were told this is because they don’t have a ‘button for large’. We also learned that we had now been charged service charge because the wine was ordered from the table. (We were told to go to the table, I could have easily ordered at the bar Our confusion with both these issues was responded to fairly dismissively although I cannot believe we are the first people to raise the issue over the wine charge! 2 glasses upstairs in the restaurant were £16 total, why was it so different downstairs??? If you go here I would go to the restaurant and I recommend it but I would avoid visiting the bar unless you have lots of cash or a desire to debate with disinterested staff

I’m a big fan of The Swan and have had the afternoon tea there several times, but unfortunately this time was very disappointing. They brought out one tower of sandwiches and cakes for two people which was just three small plates worth of food which equated to £80. This was made up of four fingers of sandwich (equating to 1 normal size sandwich), two mini tartlets, two mini salmon rolls, two scones each and 4 tiny mouthfuls of cake. Yes you could ask for refills but it was hard work flagging someone down and then when you asked for a refill, they bought you two fingers of sandwich at a time. The refills never used to be hard work but it was too laborious this time so we ended up feeling ripped off. Also the young waitress was nice but she didn’t know how to use the tea strainer and told us to use them in the cups with the drip tray inside the cup. Nice atmosphere and staff are nice but I won’t be returning for afternoon tea anytime soon sadly.

We had a pleasant lunch here in the Balcony room with lovely views. The service was fast and attentive. We had starters and main course. Carrot soup, beetroot salad and asparagus & artichoke salad. Didn't have to wait long between courses which was lucky as the starters were very small. Polenta 'steak' and roasted cod for mains. All the food was well-presented and tasty enough, but the starters were tiny, and the mains not sufficient. Vegetables were extra, and the roast potatoes were rather hard and oily. We're just average women. Suspect those with a hearty appetite would feel hungry, or slightly broke! Over all, a pleasant experience but probably wouldn't return.

We were given the wine list, the cocktail list and the a la carte menu. We had to ask for the table d'hote instead of it being offered. We were encouraged to try the specials - "try the lamb -share between two" (No indication of price and we should have asked.,). When the lamb arrived for the two people who were having it, it could have fed four people and we found when we received the bill it cost £78.00. The duck was accompanied by beans and was very dry with no sauce or liquid. Excellent value afternoon tea with a great view, thank you for the best corner table in the house! The venue is a step up from regular pub, although the bar is relaxed, it’s a great space that’s clearly a little bit extra. The restaurant upstairs is very nice, a good compromise between the super-expensive and Uber-posh afternoon tea options in London and the more reasonably-priced versions. The afternoon tea sandwiches were very nice, scones delicious and cakes very nice (although I never have space for them, wherever I am!! So I took mine home with me). Lovely champagne and wine options, would definitely come back for lunch or dinner and have been coming for a swift pint/glass of wine for years.

We arrived early, for afternoon tea on the off chance that we could get a table early, but for a Wednesday, upstairs was busy and so we sat in the bar area for a drink first. Too many floor team staff working, whilst the Barman was busy attending to table service orders. We didn’t wait too long, but you’d think the amount of other staff floating around, that someone could serve a drink. The above aside, once seated upstairs for afternoon tea, a slowish start to service and a waiter coming over, the food was well-presented and tasty, albeit overpriced for what it was, and the portion size @£39 per person, was double what we felt it was worth. A sign of the times, but a one off treat, not to be repeated.

We booked a table at the Swan at 5.30 as we were due to see that evening's performance at the Globe. You certainly can't get a more conveniently located restaurant and the views across the Thames to St. Paul's Cathedral are stunning at this time of year. So location gets two huge ticks. However, the service once we arrived didn't quite equal the venue. There is no pre-theatre menu on the website so when once was presented it was helpful but a surprise given we'd been looking at the a la carte. The question - if we order from the main menu will we still be in time for the theatre was clearly morfe complex than explaining string theory and the answer was *shrugs shoulders* We settled for the three course pre-theatre menu. The wine order was one Reisling with the starter and two glasses of white wine with the mains. You would think this would be straight forward, but it took around 5 minutes to get this understood. Even then two glasses arrived with the starters. The food was good without being outstanding. When the wine did arrive it was a short measure by 50ml which was fixed for one diner but not the second (who by this time had lost some interest). Service was slow, perfunctory and anything but unobtrusive, So much so that we removed the service charge - which might have been taken as a prompt to ask what was wrong - but it didn't. Nor did it seem to be a surprise. It's still a convenient place to eat if you're attending the Globe, but if you're not or you want consistent service levels maybe look elsewhere.

The gluten free was delicious and you couldn't even tell it was gf! It was in a fantastic location near the Globe Theatre as well as the Borough Market and just a bridge walk away from St. Paul's. It made it very easy to still see the sites while being able to stop and enjoy an afternoon break. Everything was really stunning from the food to the place settings. My 78yr old Mam was unable to use the stairs to get to the restaurant, but our lovely host that day showed us to the lift. Shown to a lovely window table with views of the Thames. Our lovely server was Scarlett and couldn't do enough for us - one of our party had an allergy so we were able to change options. Explained our sandwiches (which were refillable along with the tea. Everything was perfect and my friend was brought a birthday plate. Thank you Scarlett and all the team on over lunch 13/10/24

Excellent meal, the venison and duck being particularly good.

Awful service, very odd limited menu and then were told no steak left at 7pm, had to chase for everything and miserable rude waiter (Riyas) I would not recommend this restaurant, amazing views obviously and good bar downstairs but I will not return upstairs, very disappointing

The restaurant was very busy , so there were delays with service . Although the website showed several menus , only one was available - the festive menu . Food was good and served hot. Would like some more interesting icecream flavours e.g. coffee and cardamom or brown bread . £140 for 2 . No starters , a main each , one side, a few scoops of ice cream , 2 coffees and a bottle of wine. Wine prices started about £48 per bottle.

Excellent service quality, food is fresh, good in portions and well balanced in taste, atmosphere is a bit noisy (at least for me).

Away from the bustle. Simple menu, well executed in contemporary relaxed surroundings.

• One of the best burger restaurants in London. I tried Smokey Robinson and it was very delicious with the addition of caramelized onions. The thing I didn't like about the burger was the extra water inside it, so if you eat it, it doesn't give you a perfect experience. Regular potatoes are very delicious and contain rosemary.

Very disappointing food. Had the sausage and mash. The onions were rock hard and had to spat out to the side of the plate. The sausage skins were like leather and the insides mush. Full pepper corns in the mash overpowered any flavour.
