This is a great pub. It looks and feels exactly what you would expect an English pub to look like if you were an American tourist, except there don’t seem to be many tourists (due to it being in Rotherhithe!) I’ve been many times on both weekdays and weekends. The Roast beef and roast lamb on the Sunday lunch menu are perfectly tender and the gravy is rich and flavourful. I also thoroughly recommend the whitebait for a starter. The regular menu is also fantastic, especially the pork belly, mussels, and fish and chips. There’s nothing on it that I wouldn’t love to try! The service is attentive and the locals are friendly. You can book tables on the top floor or sit in a booth/table on the bottom floor as a walk in, but the terrace hanging over the Thames was an experience. Just remember to bring warm layers in the Winter!

One of the best pubs in London. Authentic and cosy with great selection of beers, authentically friendly service (a rarity in London), and an excellent kitchen. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, there’s plenty of reasons to visit - and keep coming back!

As early as 1620, the first emigrants chose the pub as a meeting point before they embarked on the adventurous ship voyage to America. The authentic atmosphere of a long history can still be felt today and the guest quickly feels like they have been transported to earlier times. Added to this is the unique location directly on the Thames, the lifeline of this wonderful city.

A nice pub by the river Thames. It's a small cosy pub. As usual though quite packed. Its a popular place for the locals also. We had a sunday roast. Sat upstairs where there is more room than downstsirs, and more lighting. We enjoyed our meal as we always have when we visit London. Good and friendly service.

Great riverside pub with amazing vibes. However, the staff in the terrace area were quite rude when we sat at the table having a pint and didn’t order any food. There weren’t any signs on the walls/tables saying that this area was just for food. The staff were pushing us to order ‘At least a snack’ a few times referring to other people at the terrace ‘All people are eating in here’ even though there were definitely a lot of people having just pints! Overall, great pub but our evening was ruined by pushy and rude staff

The place itself is great, very atmospheric and stylish. However, had the most unpleasant experience with its staff. They asked us to leave our table in a pub area telling us that they wanted to give this table to the clients who just arrived and wanted to order food. We were just having drinks and the pub staff didn't seem to have an issue with that, there was no indication we must order food to occupy a terrace table. When I pointed to the waiter that many people on the terrace didn't have food too, he got very aggressive and tried to make us leave raising his voice at me. I was truly scared. We wouldn't occupy a table for food only if there was a sign prohibiting to do so or if a member of staff let us know in advance we can't do it. However, no one seemed to be bothered with us and other clients with drinks only before people who were willing to pay for food came in. I will never get back to this place again despite its charm, amazing view and historic heritage as I am simply scared of its staff.

the service was fantastic and the pub is lovely and historic. prices for drinks was decent, however only downside was the food. i ordered the lamb and mash and straight off the bat, the mash was cold and you could tell was just a microwaved pack. the lamb was tough, although pretty well seasoned. the vegetables were cold and obviously frozen and so in turn, were quite hard as if they hadn’t been cooked through all the way. on the upside, the apple crumble was lovely and hot. a nice way to end the afternoon. i think if you want to come here for food, keep what i’ve said in mind. the prices are a little steep for what you get, but overall we had a good time.

Dimly-lit and famous historic pub in Rotherhithe, complete with a selection of beers, porters and cask ales. Booking highly recommended for food, although you may be lucky to find a seat/spot inside or outside in the covered pier area. Be careful though, the pier area has wooden slats with narrow gaps so it might in theory be possible to drop a phone through!

Genuine English pub, very well decorated, it is worth deviating from the central area to get to the place. It has several rooms distributed over two floors, including a terrace on the ground floor. Typical English food of which I would highlight the "Sunday Roast", they have different types of meats. Very rich in flavor and quantity. The staff's attention was excellent.

Been coming here for a couple of years, normally post dog walk. (The pub is very dog friendly) The staff are always very professional and friendly, the vibe is great, the food is some of the best you'll get in a pub in London and the pub, historic itself, is old enough to be remenicent of a tavern from the 1700s. It's a quandary, when does a pub become just a tourist trap or a real community pub. Well, this places treads it marvelously, still being a place locals come to and attracting the London visitors. Great staff and a vibrant visitor vibe too.On the day I returned, anAussie family with nautical connections were visiting. Shared some time and stories together which is what a pub is all about. Magical pub with a good history to include supposed boarding of The Mayflower through the pub, growing dock history and the burial of the Mayflower captain within the local St Mary's churchyard. My mother maŕied in the church and lived locally, so shiver inducing past. Stoll licensed to sell US stamps, visit and enjoy.

The Mayflower is a good old fashioned pub with good food. Situated right on the River Thames in Rotherhithe it is welcoming and gets busy. The quality of food and drink is very good and is reasonably priced. The pub has an outside terraced area which is closed during high tide to stop the water from the river getting into the building. We visited on a Saturday and it had very few tables spare so it may be advisable to book if making a special visit. We went after visiting the Brunel Tunnel Museum. Would recommend this pub if you're in the area.

EDIT: the roast here is back in business, chef must have been on hols! Also recommend the sticky toffee pud. Please give more than 2 roast potatoes though. Boast about this place to friends as having the best roast in London, particularly the lamb. Went today and it had gone steeply downhill sadly. Pink tender Lamb rump replaced with overdone, grey lamb leg meat that tasted like Toby carvery. Pork was also pretty average. Quite sad and hoping it’s temporary (in which case I’ll be changing this review).

I came for Sunday dinner and the place was packed, with no tables. I ended up waiting at a bar stool and grabbing a table opening when it became available. The scotch egg was superb - slightly runny yolk, soft whites, and beautifully crispy outsides. I liked how they had vegan options. I'm glad someone mentioned getting a vegetarian roast, because that wasn't on the menu. It was pretty nice, but I think it used blue cheese inside, so be aware of that in case you don't like blue cheese. The pie was crispy and well seasoned. I saw they also had some nice vegetarian starters and sides. This place was surprisingly friendly for non-meat eaters.

We went to this pub for the second time. They don’t take reservations for lunch for just two people so we took a chance and turned up quite early. I’m glad we did as it got crowded an hour later. The pub served good pub food and this is just what we wanted. We both had sausage and mash. Good sausages and well presented. We then shared two desserts. A sticky toffee pudding that benefited from not being as overly sweet as some and a mandarin cheesecake, which was unusual and tasty. I had a pretty nice glass of white wine. The coffee is also good.

No because I’m a paying customer who likes a Guinness done in the proper way end of, call me fickle but would I have a glass of red In pint glass, no
