Did Mary Berry herself bake these delightful scones and cakes? We decided to pop in for lunch, having lived nearby without ever visiting before. I was initially hoping for something savory, as I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but unfortunately, only cakes were on the menu. Nevertheless, I embraced the opportunity to indulge in a sweet lunch. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, with a charming gentleman attending to our table. My eldest son chose the ginger cake, which was incredibly moist and flavorful, while my youngest savored a brownie that was equally delicious. My husband and I opted for the cream tea, and it was nothing short of fantastic! The warm scones were fresh out of the oven, accompanied by homemade jam that was utterly scrumptious and generous portions of homemade clotted cream. This experience was a delightful departure from the typical shop-bought Rodda’s clotted cream and tiny pots of Tiptree jam found at most places. I can't wait to return when they have their full menu available!

We were given an incredibly warm welcome and had a really enjoyable lunch for two adults and three children. The views are incredible and the seating areas very cosy. Other reviews mention the price of the food, but the soup was £8, which felt perfectly reasonable, given it was the most delicious mushroom soup imaginable and the bread was so soft and tasty. Given the location and evident love that goes into the sourcing of the food, it felt very reasonably priced. The beef in the sandwich my son had was from the farm itself. The salad was large enough to share and so freshly made (when I booked over the phone in the morning they didn’t even know what the salad would be, as they had to see what was available in the garden). I would heartily recommend this cafe. We were sad not to see it busier! Thanks for a great and very memorable lunch.

We walked to this restaurant from Coniston and had an amazing lunch outside watching the swallows ducking and diving accorded the beautiful garden. The views from here of the lake and spectacular. I had a delicious salad made from ultra fresh ingredients, the best I have had in a long while. My daughter had a ham roll which came with a lovely salad and crisps. Ultra fresh again. We didn’t have room for cakes but they looked delicious also. The service was very welcoming too.

We came to visit as a group of 10, with six young children. We were immediately made to feel welcome with an Easter Egg hunt in the gorgeous gardens around the 15th century farmhouse. There was a varied menu (including a very well priced kids menu) with a variety of locally sourced items. We went for the Sunday roast and were really happy that we did! Following lunch we visited the cows and sheep on the farm before going on a exploratory walk up the hill and enjoying the breathtaking views. Can highly recommend a visit! We will be back.

We visited the Bank Ground Farm for a paddle boarding experience for my wife. We were so impressed with the instructor Dougie that we thought it would be nice touch to pay for a coffee and a cake for him at the Swallows and Amazon’s Cafe. In these days of COVID, we never imagined that there would be a problem paying by card. We were told that there’s a minimum payment of £20 on a card. The very pleasant young lady did go to her boss to ask if the rule could be overlooked under the circumstances. She came back to us to say that we could but had to pay a transaction fee. So Dugies coffee and slice of cake cost us £10. I hope he enjoyed it!

we decided to go for tea and cake on our way home from walking the dog. Have to admit I was a bit disappointed, the lane is absolutely full of potholes to the point I was a little worried about my car. The view is absolutely amazing and this is what you go for I think. As for the food I had a slice of lime and courgette cake which I felt was slightly undercooked. For drinks my husband had a cup of tea and I asked for a elderflower lemonade (which came in a can). The cost altogether was £8.

This is signposted from the main road, but you need to follow a very bumpy potholed track to reach it.Once there you are faced with a very beautiful “chocolate box” cottage overlooking a stunning view of the lake.Catering for staying guests it also offers cakes and beverages, as well cooked lunches. Seating is in and outside depending upon the weather. When we arrived there were no signage, and wandering into the open door we ended up in the kitchen only to be kindly shown back to a drawing room which housed the menus, and a huge selection of cakes (homemade) and a cream tea (make your own) - we were invited to choose what we wanted and take a seat anywhere. They then took the drinks order.Cream tea was nice - but not clotted cream, instead a whipped cream.NB: there is only one toilet and when busy this causes problems with queuing, especially as it is situated in the hallway between kitchen, drawing room and front door - a congestion zone.Overall a three star review.

Yes, the location is lovely, even on a rainy day for lunch. Watch out for the sign on the road and drive down the very potholed track to the tea rooms. The building is lovely and we were grateful that our relatively large group could be accommodated. Some of our lunches were nice, especially the locally sourced burger, and represented ok value, but honestly, £9 for an underwhelming veggie flatbread with exceptionally sparse toppings left us feeling rather hard done by. Service was ok and seemed well-meaning but came across as rather militaristic. I feel bad saying it given the glowing reviews before, but we wouldn't go back.

The cakes are to die for. I had the peanut butter & ginger cheesecake ....Wow!!! We visited the tea rooms mid-week and really enjoyed our visit. We sat for over an hour enjoying coffees, scones and great Bakewell tart. Lovely staff and great views. As it was pre Easter week it was quiet but we were warmly welcomed and had time for a chat with the owner. Highly recommend. Stop here for authentic Cumbrian welcome. Quirky spot well worth a visit.

We visited because of the great reviews on Tripadvisor and are glad we did. Bank Ground farm is a lovely location overlooking Coniston (our favourite lake). The room where we sat was lovely, old world but clean and with some nice modern touches. The food was delicious and healthy - we had a squash & halloumi salad and a chorizo & lentil stew. Afterwards we strolled down to the jetty and had a play by the lakeside. We can't wait to try Bank Ground Farm's cottages.

We were staying at Bank Ground Farm, and took the opportunity to enjoy afternoon tea in the garden. The refreshments consisted of tea and well brewed coffee, and a range of freshly baked scones and cakes on a self service basis. The garden area has an interesting circular walk, with some good views of the buildings and Coniston Water beyond. It's about 5 minutes' drive from Coniston and well worth a visit.

We had three evening meals while staying there. All the meat (lamb, beef, pork) is grown on the farm, but one night they were low in stock (no lamb or chook) so I opted for the whole Arctic char, caught in the lake. This was a firm, pink-fleshed fish - dryish, and very filling; a bit fiddly but worth the effort. I can also attest to the delicious slow-cooked lamb; a tasty chicken pie; and reasonable steaks. We'd have liked to be able to order more vegies. Lovely atmosphere and people, and of course a place of great fascination to fans of Ransome's Swallows and Amazons. Definitely recommended!

We had lunch here overlooking Coniston - all home made a lovely family farm having diversified with rooms. self catering and a tea room. The farm is the basis of the farm in Swallows and Amazons - hence the name. We were shown a room fantastic we will be coming back. Although the inside is not dog friendly they have a kennel / dog hotel so would still work if you have a dog. We had a lovely home cooked lunch and cakes were great.

Excellent soup-and-pudding lunch (butternut squash, lemon parfait) on a very wet day in August. Restaurant almost deserted which was a shame because the food was really tasty and even in low cloud the setting is magnificent - Coniston water and Old Man to one side and an attractive garden the other with some hydrangeas in full flower bordering a well kept lawn. It's a bit out of the way on the 'wrong' side of Coniston; I guess most people who come here are heading to Brantwood (or like us doing a low level wet walk from Grizedale).

Excellent cakes and other treats which you can eat in a series of cozy rooms or the lounge with wonderful views or a pleasant garden, with a fairy house for children to explore.

Lovely setting with fantastic view. I had a delicious sandwich, but the home baked bread that the menu suggested was served to accompany most main courses sadly did not materialise with my partner's halloumi salad. When I mentioned the lack of bread to the waitress she offered no real explanation. As we were largely lured by the tasty-looking loaves in the kitchen, we felt somewhat short-changed and as such it wasn't great value, I'm afraid.

Came across this place on the way to Brantwood and recalled a recommendation so decided to pop in. Had the best ham sandwich and pot of tea. Cakes in abundance which you help yourself to.Chatted to a couple who were staying and had been making a nine hour trip there for the last five years and I can see why.Stunning views, lake access and very friendly service. Will definitely be back.

Lovely views from the terrace of this farm. No frills, but great for a pot of tea and a slice of cake. Better than stopping in the centre of Coniston.

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
