Swagath in Slough

We booked this restaurant because the menu published online seemed to have a lot of dishes we’d never seen before. We were staying in an air b&b nearby and we didn’t know the area so we were taking a chance wherever we booked. As it happens we hit the jackpot. As we waked in we noticed that just about every customer was Asian which is a good indicator that the food will be authentic. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We ordered dishes that were new to us all and every one that came out was incredible. The portion sizes were large too so we ended up with doggy bags. There was absolutely no way a single mouthful of this food was going to be wasted. My only regret is that the restaurant is too far from my home in Essex for me to visit regularly but if I am in the slough area I will be back like a shot. Highly recommended

Whilst on an overnight stay in Slough, we wanted to eat somewhere different and came across this place. Seemed very quiet when we arrived but we were welcomed and seated quickly. It soon became apparent they were very busy with takeaway and delivery and a few other tables soon arrived. Menu was huge and full of variety, a random Chinese page seemed a little odd! We had a few surprises, such as poppadoms came with a mint yoghurt and chutney but no onions and lime pickle which we are used to - maybe this is more authentic. Also, no various rice options such as mushroom rice, keema rice, garlic rice, just boiled rice and various fillet rice dishes between £7 and £15 - again not really a negative but not what we are used to. We had a Paneer Biriyani and it was AMAZING! In terms of taste and flavour, it was possibly one of the nicest curry’s we have ever had. Was disappointed to see a 10% service charge on the receipt after we paid, it wasn’t pointed out but I should have checked. If in the area, I’d visit again for sure

My husband and dad and I fancied dosa and we decided to give Swagath a try. From when we first arrived the service was great, Somiya our waitress really explained any questions we had. My husband had the chili chicken which I tried a little bit if and it was delicious, very different to anything I've had before and my dad and I tried the chili bhajiya and they were yum and hit the spot. Our mains we ordered the traditional masala dosa and I also ordered the hot chutney dosa, both were delicious and all the food was really good and perfect portions. We will be coming back with the rest of the family, just what we needed home cooked food made with love.

I wanted a masala dosa and found Swagath online and decided to try. The masala dosa was massive and I also ordered a tadka dal. The gentleman serving me wondered if it might be too much and that it comes with masala already. I thought that was nice of him as it is a lot of food, but I was starving!! This is a great South Indian restaurant for dinner. My wife and I went for our anniversary recently. We had chicken samosas to start. These arrived as 5 small pieces in wonderfully flaky pastry, with a tasty filling of minced chicken and vegetables, spiced with some chilli. We both ordered curries. My wife's fish curry featured the whole fish fillet, covered in a curry sauce. I had a lamb rogan josh, which was smothered in a rich curry sauce. The sauce was given extra bunch with the addition of some bamboo pieces - a touch that reminds of south-east Asian food rather than Indian cuisine, but really worked. This may be the best rogan josh I've ever had. These were accompanied with a keema nan and a cheese nan. Both were light, fluffy, and tasty. The staff were attentive throughout, providing excellent customer service and taking care of us well. I'm already plotting to go back and check out the Indo-Chinese fusion noodle dishes on the menu, as this establishment seems to have a great touch when blending different cuisines and ingredients.

Friends and I went here following a pub crawl along the Elizabeth line. From our side of London - East - we are more used to Bangla Deshi food, so this was something different. The dish I ate, chicken kadai(?) was spicy. My friend had a dosa, which looked interesting, others had birianis. The food tasted good, a bit too much rice. It was odd not having side dishes to order. Perhaps that is the norm in South Indian restaurants. The service was prompt and the price reasonable, about £24 a head, including drink. Not bad. If I see dosas on a menu anywhere again, I will order that

As an African out on leisure, we decided to try something new and went to this Indian restaurant. We ordered different meals and can tell you for a fact that the meals were super enjoyable and delicious. The family and I sure had a great and memorable dinner. My 5 years old has added Indian cuisines to the meals she will continue to eat henceforth. 😂 The staff were also pleasant and kept checking to know if we needed anything. Great restaurant!

We popped in on Saturday evening on the off chance that they might have a table for 3. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - The place was buzzing with locals and the host made you feel like you were dining at her home. We ordered 2 mutton biryanis and a mild chicken korma. We also wanted ice and they went out of their way to get us ice! You don't get this kind of service anywhere. The food came and it was fresh, tasty with tons of flavour. The portions were so ver generous that we had to take a portion home with us! The peshwari naans were so fresh. The host was very tuned into all the patrons needs going out of her way to make sure ever single person was comfortable and satisfied. What a lovely atmosphere - with music playing in the background and a buzzing vibe this is definitely the place you want to visit for your next trip to Slough! Outstanding

Yesterday me and my family had tried Swagath’s food for the first time at a birthday event. Firstly, the catering service was AMAZING. All dishes were fresh and beautifully cooked. My favourite was the chilli chicken and biryani! I highly recommend you to visit Swagath and try their food because it is without doubt an amazing restaurant! Definitely going to try their food again!

Absolutely delicious dosas, podi idli, sambhar rice and warm service that we visited twice in 2 weeks. The hot and spicy masala dosa is a must try. The sambhar is almost perfect!

I've been a fan of south Indian cuisine for years but it can be hard to find locally. Swagath appears fairly unassuming to look at but the food is excellent. At first I was worried that the extensive menu would mean not fresh but have no fear, it is like home cooking. Mango lassi, a fantastic masala dosa that looks impressive, tastes light and perfectly textured, with tasty filling and good sambar. Today I also had lamb dum biryani which was absolutely delicious, but so big I had to take half home with me. Last time I had king fish curry. Nice staff and fresh home cooked food. You will leave satisfied and only pay £20. My new favourite place for dosai.

I have been here couple of times. This is my first time since the venue is taken over by another owner and named it SWAGATH. We have been waiting for more than 45mins for our order of POORI MASALA, CHOLE BATURA AND 2 COKE. They are so focused on continuously serving a table of 12 (family). There are 3 waiter and all attending one single table. While there are 5 other tables waiting to order and be served. I had to remind the waiter to get our coke he completely forgot about it. One table cancelled and left after waiting longer than us. If you can’t handle 20 people. Than you should put a limited seating and refuse the people that come after. At least they won’t have to suffer more for hunger and go to another place. If you cant serve the variety than reduce the menu. My wait is longer than and hour now. For just 2 dishes. Very disappointed and would not visit again no matter.

Not a preferable place, Not a good service, every visit is disappointing. I had been there twice. When asked, they will say everything is available, and once you order they will say it is not available. This happened TWICE to me. I will never ever visit again.

Decided to visit Swagath as it was relatively new. Having been to this location when it was Chennai Dosa we thought we knew what to expect.We went in and were left standing while other customers were being served. One of the staff members pointed to a table from behind the bar but we decided to sit at another table, which we had to clear ourselves as no one came.We waited a while before stopping a waiter to ask for menus. We decided to get some starters before looking into the mains.We decided on Chole Bature and chilli pepper chicken.We were given the chole bature and had to ask for the other starter before being given it.We were given no plates to eat in nor any cutlery until we asked for them.

I came here after working in Slough for a few days just before Xmas. I had walked passed a few times on way back to hotel and the decor made it look entriging. A friend called to say he was in town n do I fancy a curry. We arrived around 8pm and the restaurant was around half full. Popadums n pickles were ordered with two Cobras. They were so light n fresh, tender lamb chops followed with a huge pancake thing stuffed with turmeric mashed potato that I had never seen or heard of before, which also came with four dips absolutely lovely. We then had Chicken Tika served with a beautiful wild rice. It was so different from Indian restaurants I have been to before. All the food was wonderful and served by smiling happy staff who explained all the dishes to us. Great evening would recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely be back next time I am in area.

So this is a review after a proper 15-20 visits - with various different combinations of going with my family/ indian friends and my western friends. so this is review is based on broad feedback1. Speciality food - You will find a big menu with good options across veg & non-veg dishes from Telugu states of South India. The names of dishes will puzzle you as there are some items that are even specific to cities within these states.2. Quality, Quantity, Price - I've tasted about 10-15 dishes and my rating is 4.5/5. The quality of each dish is of pivtol importance to management and they are delivering on it. Quantity - totally 5/5. Prices are quiet reasonable for the quantity and quality delivered.3. Some Must eats - Cut Mirchi, Gobi 65, Chole Batura (yes, you heard it right.. it is super good hear), Chilli Paneer, Paneer Biryani, Guntur Karam Dosa, Schezwan Noodles (yes they do Chindian food as well)...and do not miss the VEG THALI (Guess what they give gobi manchurian for a starter !) ..one of my friend has given a 9/10 for a chicken biryani and other non veg items he ate for example (Vs. those eaten in Hounslow she gave just gave 6)Overall a very good place where the taste and flavours are lipsmacking. For my Western and North Indian friends - This is a proper Telugu Cuisine ( a specific and mostly unexplored cuisine in Britain)

Our South Indian friend took us here for lunch and the food was fanstastic - great authentic flavours and spice. Awesomely giant puri with my chickpeas which was truely a delight. Would definitely hands down recommend. Great variety of Vegan options also which a big plus from me.

Me and my family friends visited this place Wednesday for the dinner and the service was good and mango lassi was really nice. Food came to the table shortly and it was really tasty. We really enjoyed the food and would like to say thank you to the front and back of the house team of this place.

The restaurant itself looks a bit more like a cafe than a restaurant but is clean and tidy. Clearly the main audience is the local Indian population (the menu had no explanation of the dishes but they did explain them to us). Our waiter struggled with English but the manager/owner and even the chef helped. Some interesting dishes—all seemed home cooked rather than a bland sauce slipped over ant given meat. Would definitely try the excellent dosas next time.

Came here after passing the Indian street food place round the corner which looked empty. This restaurant however was packed with Indian/Shri-Lankan couples and families so we knew it was a good sign. Waiters were very friendly and welcoming and the food was out of this world! Very unusual menu, ideal if you’re looking for something different and authentic. I’m so sorry it’s taken this long to leave you a review but I couldn’t remember the restaurant name! Will definitely be back next time we are in Slough.

The staff are especially friendly helping with the choices on menu. food very authentic and was on our table within 10-15 minutes. All dishes were hot, looked great and tasted fabulous.

Enjoyed a great meal with the family. Cosy atmosphere with top notch service. delicious flavorful food prepared by chef Sandylee. All of the items we ordered were great, especially the lamb biriyani and dosas. Great value for money. Definitely coming back.

This restaurant is possibly the closest one to the Travelodge I was staying in, and as we had had a busy day and didn't want to venture too far, so tried here.

Being South Indian I enjoy spicy food and I have to say the food is fabulous with so much to choose from.

I have been there 2 times already in last 2 weeks and as the title says, the food here is amazing at very reasonable price. We tried Masala Dosa and the chutney that comes along with it is simply yumm. Although it shows itself as South Indian restaurant, we tried Schezwan Noodles as well and again we loved it. Lastly we thought of trying Paneer tikka masala and to my surprise it was very good as well.

New in town but excellent food. Best taste of Indian food away from it’s native land. Can’t say anymore. Highly recommended.

Three of us ate there one evening on business. Quite un-fancy in appearance but crikey the food was excellent and really good value. We had pops, mains, sides and drinks and it was under £50. Bargain
