Swadish in Glasgow City

We went on a Saturday afternoon and received a very warm welcome upon arrival. The service was superb with the staff being very attentive but not so that they were constantly in your face. We ordered some poppadoms and pickles and a lamb dish and a chicken dish along with rice and a nan. The food was amongst the best we’ve tasted in an Indian restaurant. We’d love to return one day and sample more..! We’d definitely recommend you try this restaurant. Thanks to all.

I had high hopes for Swadish, having read previous reviews and heard through word of mouth. We received a warm welcome and were seated at a nice table by the manager. The food was generally of a high standard although the soft-shell crab was quite greasy and had deep fried taste. The main courses were all of a high standard. The main issue that diminished the experience was the service we received from our waiter. He was impatient and slightly pushy, forcing us to make our food choices fairly soon after we arrived. He appeared fed up and generally disinterested. It is a real shame as his behaviour negatively impacted our experience. From previous visits to Indian restaurants in Glasgow I have come to expect freindly and professional service. Having read previous reviews it seems that this is not an experience others have encountered so maybe the waiter was just having an off day. I would be willing to try another visit and hopefully experience an improved experience alongside the lovely food.

We went there on 9th March to celebrate my wife’s Birthday with family. We had a wonderful meal, service was excellent by courteous and always smiling staff. We are definitely back soon. Everything was ‘ super se bhi upper tha’ especially monk fish, chicken tandoori and mango peshwari nan. All the condiments were super. Drs Mishra’s and McPhail.

The staff were all very good from when we arrived to when we left. I had the Thali of the month tasting and it was all lovely as were all the meals.

This was our first visit to Swadish and we were so impressed. The service was excellent - friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The thali was a great choice with a wide range of curries and accompaniments, all of which were delicious. I'm still trying to decide which was my favourite. We would definitely recommend Swadish and look forward to returning on our next visit to Glasgow.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu choices are different from most Indian restaurants. We can highly recommend the Roe Deer and the Lamb Biryani.

After reading some good reviews we decided to visit Swedish for the Street Food menu. First impressions were great. Eecor, lighting, cutlery were all first class. As was the service. We had a starter between us of Sindi Tikki Chat which really hit the mark. Well present with a trip of sauces on the plate. Sadly the street food of Paneer Paratha and Chicken Paratha let the meal down. The paneer on a flat bread was simply bland. Not enough sauce to lift the paneer and too many salad leaves. The chicken paratha was also on the bland and overcooked side of things. I didn't complain but when asked gave feedback and they did offer to reimburse me. But we are almost all of it and didnt think this was fair. What we had was a small sample of the menu and the restaurant was busy and lively.

I brought my husband for his birthday for somewhere different, we are both big foodies and my husband likes his Indian cuisine. We both really enjoyed this meal, I ordered the biryani and my husband got the deer for main. I can safely say this was the best Indian I have had within the U.K. we will definitely be back as there was soo much more on the menu we wanted to try.

I always wanted to visit Swadish and after seeing Ajay Kumar representing Scotland in the Great British Menu kitchen, impressed by his dishes, I booked the restaurant and I was glad I did. The restaurant was very nice, the interior was beautiful and it had full of fabulous ambiance. The waiters were very knowledgeable, courteous and very helpful. One of the best services we came across. Then came the menu, very nice items, seasonal produce, sourced in Scotland and with great selection. We were hungry, ordered few from starters and main to taste Ajay’s finest cooking and we did not get disappointed. The poppadom and chutneys were out of this world! Trust me, I am a foodie, I have been to top Indian restaurants in Scotland, getting fed up with boring one dimensional spiced onion! There came taste buds tantalising chutneys! So tasty, spiced perfectly, each of them had different tastes, as described in the menu. We appreciated the texture, flavour and freshness of these chutneys. It was also a pleasant surprise to taste millet poppadom! The soft-shell crab was exquisite, the paratha with paneer on chutney, I never tasted a fluffy paneer like this in my life! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and was moist. The monk fish was plenty with tasty with silky sauce and the dum biriyani came in a bowl with proper dough cover, inside I had aromatic, very tasty Hydrabadi biryani, the same way my mother used to cook and feed us! I felt at home then and there! The puddings were phenomenal. We have to come back again to this place. The icing on the cake was meeting the man himself, Ajay Kumar, taken his time off from a very busy kitchen to say hello to his patrons! What a gem🙏 Thank you for this awesome dining experience, hope to see the Michelin star for your efforts and skills one day!

Chose the restaurant based on Ajay's appearance on GBM. Bit disappointed really. Chutneys served with poppadoms lacked flavour and didn't taste freshly made. Rogan josh sauce also lacked depth of flavour and the lamb was not heated through properly. With views of staff coming in and out of the kitchen into an area that looked like toilets was a bit of a put off too. Service was good and staff were attentive and polite. Really hope this was just a one off. It was a Wednesday night but standards should be across each service.

Housed in what used to be Glasgow Central Fire Station this restaurant has a warm inviting atmosphere & lots of character. The food is locally sourced using the best of Scottish produce & is impeccably spiced with some truly stunning flavours. It is a fabulous fusion of Scottish & Indian cuisine. The presentation of each dish is a work of art. The staff are quietly attentive & helpful. A joyous experience.

Ordered poppadoms but disappointed as not served with spiced onions , however instead with some weird runny sauces and carrots?? I also didn’t like the whole meal type of poppadom. Both of us ordered butter chicken ( my favourite) it was chicken thigh as opposed to the usual chicken breast and did not like the watery sauce… more like a broth. I like a sauce to be a sauce and have some consistency. Blue cheese naan was tasty and original. Best part of the meal. Trying too hard to be fancy and definitely not our type at all.

We had the most amazing meal. We were greeted and shown to our table. All members of the team that served us were polite and friendly and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We had the crab starter, I had lamb shank and we had the chocolate crémeux to finish. We couldn’t fault any of it. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. At the end of the meal Ajay Kumar came out from the kitchen and talked to us at length which was very much appreciated. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant and would certainly return if we visit Glasgow again.

Plenty of nearby parking. The welcome is very warm and the restaurant is very nice inside. The menu had a good range with plenty of "out of the ordinary" choices. Our starters were lovely and a perfect size to dull our hunger without suppressing our appetites. We had the halibut and the steak for mains and both were 10/10. Service was efficient and friendly without being rushed or intrusive. We think this restaurant is a great find and we will be back, hopefully soon.

We had a lovely evening in Swadish. As soon as we entered the restaurant the smells of the food were amazing. The decor and seats were both stylish and very comfortable, also offering us privacy. The service was excellent, prompt, friendly and very helpful with any questions. The food was out of this world. The flavours and how the food was cooked was mouth watering.
