What a chippy I was staying at the old Royal Oak pub which has been converted into cottages with my family and friends and we could smell the chips from the garden so we decided to try them omg best chippy ever the young girls who worked there were amazing, definitely a must for anyone visiting Wainfleet or just passing through…

Delicious haddock and chips. Cooked fresh to order and served with a smile. Great value for money. Generous portions. Shop is spotlessly clean and fresh looking. Nicest fish and chips I’ve had in a long while. Shame I don’t live in the area as it would definitely be my regular chippy. Top tip - take cash with you as they don’t accept card payments.

Popped in for lunch after a morning bell ringing. We ate in the restaurant area and the smell of the beef dripping had us salivating as soon as we sat down. We opted for the the lunch time special - fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and a cup of tea for 10.50 with an upgrade to large cod for me because I'm greedy like that. We also had a bowl of scraps on the side. The flavour of the both the fish and chips was excellent. I started by gobbling down a few chips before breaking into the crispy batter to reveal the succulent cod inside. The flavours and textures are amazing the cod is fresh and full of flavour the batter is so crispy its unreal and the flavour from the beef dripping is what makes this a truly wonderful experience. We piled loads of salt and vinegar on our bowl of scraps and in spite of the best diet intentions could not help but eat the lot. Suttons Traditional Fish and Chips is a real gem and well worth a visit.

Very disappointing. Have been to this place many times over the years when passing through Wainfleet. Having bought some chips this week, I was very disappointed. The chips were fine, but the portion size was shockingly small on a ridiculously shallow tray, and about a third to a half what one would normally get elsewhere. I ended up buying just this miniscule portion of chips at £2.70, as I simply just couldn't justify £8.30 for cod and chips. I understand that costs have risen recently, but has inflation got that bad, that a SMALL carton of mushy peas is now £1.50? They're still only 30p-ish in the supermarket, and you'd get 4 portions out of one of those. No longer is fish and chips from places like this affordable or justifiable, when other places are selling at much lower prices.

Wonderful freshly fried fish with a mountain of chips. Staff friendly and very efficient. Thank you for our lovely supper. Note to any townies visiting, cash only.

We ate in the restaurant which was light and airy, very clean and had a kind of cool chip shop aesthetic. My partner and I both had large haddock, chips, mushy peas and a mug of tea. The fish and chips are cooked in beef dripping which definitely adds to the flavour, the fish was perfectly cooked with a crisp batter and a milky whiteness to the flakes. The fish does have the skin on, personally I would prefer the skin removed before cooking as that gives more of the excellent batter to enjoy. Having said that we asked for scraps which came separately in a huge bowl and more than made up for the batter I left with the fish skin. The chips where perfectly cut and clearly from fresh Lincolnshire potatoes and having been fried in dripping had an excellent flavour. Now I could really wax lyrical about the mushy peas, they definitely had a homemade feel to them, they were a really dark green colour with a heavy thick texture and a great flavour. I smothered them liberally over my chips and frankly could have done with a slightly larger pot. The tartare sauce came in a little packets which was a shame as the fish, chip and peas were so good that a homemade tartare sauce was all that was really required to lift this to stratospheric levels of yumminess. My only real criticism is the tea which came in a cup. We all know that you need lots of tea with fish and chips and providing a pot of tea would have been a much better option than a small cup for 2 quid. All in all one of the best fish and chip shops I've tried in Lincolnshire, a solid 9 out of 10.

New owners brought great excitement to the area. However it is all hit and miss. Sometimes it is good but friends bought some Tonight and they were as if they had left them in the warmer for day as they were inedible because they had dried out. We were all very disappointed and couldn’t eat them so we just threw them away!!

Gave order & paid for it then asked them again what the order was they told me & it was wrong order & had over charged me by £5 this is why I asked as seem expensive. Eventually got order asked them again & they confirmed it got home & it was wrong. Did not go back as food would of been cold. Tried to ring them no answer. Been back again & told them all got was should of brought it back no sorry. Hubby went tonight & when he got back they done small chips but charged for large. Chips was warm. Lost a regular customer now as we used to use this weekly but not no more as not getting ripped off any more.

Was really excited to have new owners and they appeared to be really trying, food was really good with good portion size, fish was crispy and loads of chips. However the last few times I have been it has gone down hill the fish portion is good but the batter is soggy so if you collect them as a takeout it is not nice as they all stick to each other and are very greasy. You always get loads of chips. So i hope they go back to cooking the fish tohow they did and give it time to drain off before they pack it up

We have had fish and chip, take aways, several times under the new ownership. They have always have cod in when I go there, we like the normal size, sometimes they only have really large ones, too big for us, so then we have haddock. The new owner is willing to skin it for us. Its always fresh, cooked to order, the batter is crispy the chips are very good also. The owner is a pleasant gentleman and is always willing to please. All in all we can recommend this fish and chip shop.

Gone down hill. Used to be the best chip for miles. Batter falls off sausages and really hard, greasy, and fish nothing like it used to be. Such a shame. Won’t be going back and this is our local chip shop. Why change something that’s not broke.

Recommended, but not impressed, it was eatable, haddock was grey, batter thin and not crispy, chips ok. Kept waiting to order whilst locals arriving after us were served!!!

Very poor food, they did not have any Cod. Over half we threw away. Not what you would expect from a fish and chip establishment on the East Coast.

Had to queue outside in the rain, however it was half an hour before England v Scotland euro game. Ordered fish & chips, didn’t have to wait too long, fish & new potato chips were gorgeous.

Superb haddock and chips. We phoned ahead so it was ready and waiting. We will definitely be back when we are next in Wainfleet.

While staying near by hubby and I called in for some fish and chips. After reading other reviews we had high expectations, and we were not disappointed. The fish was very fresh and a good size. The batter light and crisp, not greasy at all....

Whilst visiting the area, some friends said that they would treat us to fish and chips from here. having read the reviews, we were all really looking forward to it. Sadly, the food was greasy and unappetising.

This is Fish & Chips like they used to be. The beef dripping sets them apart creating a very appetising meal with fresh, white fish in crispy batter "garnished" with juicy chips, peas and bread & butter. Just like when I was boy! Don't think...

We go to Suttons once a week, warm friendly staff serve us quality food at reasonable prices with a cosy warm restaurant in which to eat. Looking forward to our next visit!

Just been to Suttons in Wainfleet for our lunch,they are the best fish and chips that I have ever tasted.Will be going again in the next couple of weeks,the staff are very helpful and friendly.

As we are on holiday we wanted to try the local chippy and after reading the reviews here we made the mistake of picking Suttons, the only conclusion we can come to is that these people were eating at another chip shop.

fantastic place visitted 15 years ago,had coal fired fryers but now still use beef dripping,lovely taste and crispness to the fish and chips,sat in restaraunt had haddock and chips mushy peas, brill served by very frendly young staff smart and polite,would recomend this chippy to all who are in the area, £4.00 cheaper than the hotel back up the road, shame its not licenced,

suttons was a real find on our visit to wainfleet.first class fish and chips at a decent price if i lived here i would go again.

Hay un menú variado, pero siempre tenemos eglefino o la solla, que es siempre delicioso. Restos en petición, generosas raciones de patatas fritas, siempre bien cocinada. Fui a suttons Lastnight para el té alrededor de las 6, la cola era salir por la puerta, muy concurrida. Sin embargo, no tuvimos que esperar tanto tiempo, yo estaba feliz de esperar porque, en mi opinión, es el mejor "fish and chips" alrededor y he estado viniendo desde que era una niña. Cuando recibí la comida fue genial como siempre!

Vamos a Suttons desde que era un chico joven mis padres me llevó cuando estuvimos cerca. Ahora son ancianos que ellos! Y el lugar todavía sirve pescado blanco con pasta crujiente y las patatas fritas son simplemente perfectas. Junto con un servicio amable, este lugar no puede ser criticada.

Six of us are here tonight - 4 adults and 2 children for £41.00 - great value IMHO!The fish was superb quality - very fresh and white, the chips were excellent as well.A lovely little restaurant with really good service.

Best kept secret in the world of Fish and Chips on the east coast !Huge portions.Crispy batter.Home made Mushy Peas.Great choice of Fresh fish.Nice presentation with complimentary tartar sauce.Chips were cooked to perfection Dinner for 4 adults & 1 child, could not eat all the chips and the fish was literally one of the plate to the other ! Wish it was my local chippy. Clean as they come.

This fish shop in my opinion has the best fish and chips on the east coast. And that is say something with Skegness just five miles up the coast. It is well worth visit, either to have a take away or eat in the restaurant.

We had a take-out from Suttons just before Christmas, the fish was lovely and large portions , cooked really well perfect !!! the chips well ? we had far too many but that's not a complaint ! thankyou , I'm sure we will be back very soon

We're so lucky that Suttons is within five miles of where we live, so sometimes we'll fetch their food home, sometimes we'll eat in. Either way their food is always excellent and the Haddock, which I love, is always fresh, hot, and cooked to perfection. The Batter is the best to be found in these parts and the chips are never greasy. Their Mushy peas and the gravy are just what you'd want them to be. I've seen some comments that it's expensive here, not so, when you consider the portions and the amount of staff that they have to provide a prompt, efficient and friendly service and they are genuinely lovely people. We're not one off users, regulars, I'd say, but be warned, if you need to watch your waistline, don't go too often!

suttons is a small fish and chip shop with a restaurant situated in the centre of wainfleet. the fish and chips are ordered and cooked fresh every time i had the haddock which was cooked perfect and the chips was lovely the mushy peas where just how you expect to receive from a chip shop the whole meal was very nice and the portion size was very large, the staff was very nice and attentive to our needs well worth a visit

On the last night of our break in the area we decided to have fish and chips instead of eating out. I was rather concerned when a fish cake, which I hadn't ordered, was placed on one portion, but the proprietor helpfully informed me that as my fish was rather small he added it to compensate. Wow! The portions, as it turned out, were massive. My undersized piece of fish was bigger than anything I've ever had from my local chippy, and my wife couldn't even finish hers. She declared it the best fish and chips she'd ever had, and I struggled to think of any better. Simply excellent in every ay.

Great fish and chips, and plenty of it, along with a really friendly service, you must go there! Having only had the take a way service, I have yet to try the restaurant, but what I have seen on passing looks very good, and will definitely go there shortly.

Excellent chip shop to eat in or take out. The "plaice" is spotlessly clean throughout. Fish is cooked while you wait, one of the best chippies ever.

Visited here a few times both last year and this week when staying in the area. Situated in the very pretty village of Wainfleet. It's busy with locals and visitors alike. Great quality & delicious fish (beautifully fresh) and the tastiest chips all served by cheery staff in a clean bright place. Huge portions and great value!

Use this 'Chippy' a few times each year. Today Wife and I went for our 1st sit down lunch. Seating area spotlessly clean and fresh looking, order taken quickly and likewise delivered quickly, loads of tasty well cooked chips, glorious home made mushy peas. Haddock was "still flapping" it tasted that fresh. Decent mug of tea & quality bread & butter. As always very friendly staff. Happily recommend this chippy to anyone

Situated in the lovely village of Wainfleet - on the high street.We ordered two fish & chips lunches and enjoyed them in the adjoining seating area. Very good quality.

There is always a que which is good in my book for a Fish & Chip shop. It means everything is fresh and straight out of the pan. Mushy peas are brilliant too. Sit in restaurant available too although we always have take away. Excellent food, superb portions, brilliant value for money too.

My parents have took me to Suttons since I can remember and today I have taken my wife and daughter for the first time. And even though the fryer has turned 90° and the trawler has been taken out of the window since I was last there (I always used to admire it as a young boy) the quality hasn't changed. It topped off a wonderful family day we had had today

First ate in Sutton's some 65 years ago. Still call in once a year on my visits from America. Quality is still very good, but not the 'absolute best in the UK' that it was when the Sutton family ran the place.The fresh Grimsby haddock that both my wife and I ordered on this year's visit,was excellent (by far the best of the 4 fish and chip shop meals that we ate on this trip) One of our guests had plaice and said it was similarly very good. Portions are still on the large side, Chips are local Lincolnshire potatoes, but come out just average. Dandelion & Burdock pop is available (I have a weakness for this!)Restaurant was spotless (though we were the only ones in at the time), service was exceedingly friendly.You have to be really careful as to what time you show up, as their hours of business are surprisingly minimal (2 hours at lunch, 3.5 hours in the early evening, just 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday). I've driven up a few times after 8:00 pm to find the place closed!

I love the fish and chips here. Always tasty,hot, and quick service. There is not a large seating area but it's always clean.

Suttons is a nice chip shop, the fish n chips are cooked to perfection. And the potion size is good!. I do find them expensive but worth the money the staff are polite and friendly. The only down side is that they only open a few days a week.
