Sutton Park Cafe in Birmingham

I have written reviews on the Cafe before and I keep going back as the food and service is excellent and you will struggle to find the same anywhere else in Sutton Coldfield. I have noticed the comments from several people around eating their own food on the premises and I have to comment. I have been in the cafe and outside on many occasions and I have heard the torrent of abuse the staff receive when the politely ask people to refrain from eating there own food in their premises. The staff are polite and ask people nicely to refrain and then normally get shouted at an abused and called all sorts by the young and old (who should know better). It's simple don't eat your own food in a cafe that serves food, would you go in to Nandos with a packed lunch and order a coke???. To the cafe keep up the good work and to the idiots bringing there own food and then not being happy when asked to not eat it, grow up and use some common sense, if you have any!

Earlier this week, myself, elderly parents and my young children decided to go to the park however as we arrived it started pouring with rain. As my dad is 83 I didn’t want him getting too wet and cold so as there was literally no one outside the cafe I said I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if we sheltered there until the rain stopped. My mom had brought a flask of coffee and some snacks so I got them out for my dad to then be told we would have to move as we weren’t allowed our own food. Now I’m not saying this isn’t their policy and that is totally understandable however on a day when it was pouring with rain, with literally not one customer sat outside and with my very elderly dad you would think there would be a bit of compassion shown. If it had been heaving and customers were fighting for seats I would never have sat there. After this experience we would never go to this cafe now and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Very well run cafe , good prices and friendly staff. The location is good , seating both indoors and outdoors , well worth a visit .

Very rude staff!!! I met with friends for a spot of lunch after a lovely peaceful stroll through the park expecting to enjoy relaxing lunch at the cafe. Unfortunately, after ordering five adult meals and five hot drinks we were told that my friends five-year-old son could not eat his healthy packed lunch at the table. The children's menu consists of beige processed food that no decent parent would give to their child! The poor little soul was forced to sit on a bench some 20 metres away whilst we waited for our food. Worst still he was approached by an elderly gentleman who tried to engage him in conversation! My friend tried to reason with a male member of staff but he totally dismissed her concerns and wouldn't engage with her. We spent around £40 between us but unfortunately won't be returning.

Very unfriendly 'plump' older lady and the younger male version of her. Incredibly rude and argumentative. Customer service skills are awful. Avoid.

Disgusting service! I entered the paved area and ordered a tea. My children who only eat certain foods and have dietary requirements, started to each some snacks I had brought with us. A man came out and very rudely told us we couldn’t eat and had to leave. I explained we have brought a tea and will buy an ice cream shortly after. I was informed we could drink tea here but the children couldn’t stay. He moved my pushchair and told us to leave. Needless to say I got a refund for my tea and my children went else where for an ice cream. Will never go back!

Wouldn't even give it a star, very dirty toilets, no toilet seat the staff were extremely rude and aggressive. Will not be coming back here and will be passing my reasons on to others. No wonder it was empty

If i could give this minus stars i would. Disgusting customer service especially from the unpleasantly plump woman who was extreemly aggressive to us in front of our young children (all under the age 4) all because our children had sandwiches of their own while the adults including myself was willing to purchase food from the cafe menu. She was extreemly rude, aggressive and intimidating aswell as the other members of staff, the main lady even got into my sisters face because she accidentally bumped her pram wheel into the highchair leg. Disgraceful

Absolutely disgusted with the old lady that works there and said my 1 year old can't use their chair to sit on whilst she had her lunch just because it wasn't bought from the cafe. I would have understood if there were people waiting to sit down and if the adults were eating but there was nobody there and she is 1!! It was a rainy day and it was empty. All she was doing was eating a sandwich, it wasn't even messy food. Just damn right rude and obnoxious! Awful behaviour!

As title says took my children to the park and ordered ice cream and pop. Customer service was rather pushy and unfriendly by a older large lady and the young girl needs to learn manners.

I called in to the cafe for a lunchtime snack. The 2 men running the cafe were excellent. My order came quickly and they brought some water for my cockerpoo. Can't ask for more...efficient, friendly and very customer focused!

Pooped with friend for walk great to see that they opened a ice cream stall selling drinks & snacks two really helpful & polite guys

Had to run to get to the toilets for my 3 year old who, as 3 year olds do, decided now was the time he needed the toilet (not the easy kind of toilet visit either), arrived just after 3pm and they had closed and were just leaving the cafe, I asked if they wouldn't mind quickly letting us use the toilet but I just got a "no it's all closed", very unsympathetic and as the bloke walked out they seemed to converse in a sort of "couldn't care less" conversation. I always find their ice creams grossly overpriced too and the facilities are pretty dire at the best of times. For somewhere as popular as town gate they should really invest and have a much nicer cafe area instead of this eyesore. In the end we ran over to the Toby Carvery and they were SUPER helpful and very kind to let us use the facilities.

Although I did not purchase food or drink from this establishment.... It is with the staff that I had an encounter to which I need to share so that others do not have to endure the same treatment as I did today. My 12 year old daughter started her period whilst we were in the park and blood stained her trousers. She was distraught and so I took her into the ladies toilets to sort her out. Whilst she was in the cubicle I rinsed her trousers and was trying to dry them best I could under the hand dryer to save her from further embarrasment. A lady came storming in and started shouting I was not to use the dryer for drying clothes.... I was ok with that and tryed to ask her if she had an other means of drying her trousers as she had to put them back on, to which she replied that's not my problem in a very aggressive manner and shouted I'm turning it off.... Referring to the hand dryer. She was very rude and abrupt so I then went in to the cafe to personally thank her for being a heartless cow and she denied everything saying she wasn't rude and didn't say that it wasn't her problem. I asked her for her name which she refused to give me and told me that she was the boss so if I had a complaint it would go to her. Then a gentleman asked me to leave and said that if I went to the visitor centre they would tell me to put my complaint in writing which would then just be sent to him to bin. I asked her for an apology and she laughed and said no. After reading other reviews after this incident I have realised I am not the only person to have encountered the rudeness of the staff in this cafe. All the staff in here are rude and arrogant and I would not spend my money in here. They said I shouldn't have been using to toilet as I wasn't a customer.... However the toilet is accessible from the park and you do not have to go through the cafe to gain access.

Would not fill my water bottle with tap water. What planet are these people on?The staff insisted I had to buy a (single use!!!) plastic bottle filled with water.Their answer to my question WHY? was that they were too busy (which they weren't!At lunch time!)The same thing happened a year ago.I thought they might have learned something by now!Whoever runs this place needs educating about the harmful effects of unnecessary plastic use AND about CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Went to park with our granddaughters. They wanted ice cream, a doughnut and I wanted a hot drink. I went to toilet first. It was dirty, no hot water or soap! Then decided that if the toilets like that I didn't want to eat in their cafe, especially as I couldn't wash hands with soap beforehand. My granddaughter had kicked her ball against an outside wall, she got told off, fair enough but a pity they were not as concerned about state of toilets as much as wall. I will never go in again.

Just a no frills budget outlet selling tea coffee and fast food. Staff seemed friendly enough. A few things missing from the menu but that’s fine. Didn’t take a pic of my food so may I present you with Max, my handsome 8 year old chocolate Labrador.

Best breakfast iv had in ages. Defiantly the best iv ever had in Sutton Coldfield. Went to pay the bill and was cheep as chips. I will defiantly be eating there again. Great service with incredible food at a affordable price.

Great Staff and Great Food. Also the ice cream is amazing. Highly recommend for food and ice cream :).

Once again this small cafe has set the bar so much higher than the other overpriced and overrated other cafes in Sutton Park. Beautiful food and drinks great service and prices .will continue to use this place and recommend to anyone

Defo a great pit stop good quality and reasonable price. Would recommend to anyone who is visiting. Kids loved it.

.Family run cafe,really lovely,friendly atmosphere.Have been coming here for a few years and really feel they deserve a mention,nothings too much trouble.The best breakfast in town,freshly made.Must try.

Great food great service at a very reasonable price well worth a visit. Can get very busy on the weekends very popular so expect a little wait

Stopped off at this cafe during our bike ride this morning, ordered chips and sat at one of the empty tables and was very surprised and angry when a jobsworth employee quite rudely come over to me and told me I couldn't drink my bottled...

Purchased some doughnuts and a cappuccino which came in a tiny take out tub and a fruit shoot for just under £5. Staff didn't seem very interested but again this isn't exactly a chain restaurant just a little council run establishment.
