👤The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I had to use the toilet as my food was ready so they offered to put it under the hot plate to keep it warm for me, very accommodating. ⏱️Service was quick and I had a pleasant dining experience 💰10-15/pp. I paid £12.60 for my whole meal as they had an offer for free bubble tea with any main meal. ✅Food was lovely and tasted fresh. ❤️ Would definitely visit again :)

Absolute gem of a place hidden in Leeds. Really great for either dine or takeaway Japanese.

My friend ordered for delivery on Uber eats for me, i got pork katsu curry and Takoyaki. Either they undercooked the rice or give me leftover rice from the day before, because it is so hard and dry, making it difficult to chew! Disappointed !

The service was ok. The sushi I ordered was quite expensive. Almost £10 for only half a roll which was only 4 pieces. They say the toilets are an indicator of how clean the kitchen is, and this place has the worst toilets I've seen in a long time. They are very dingy in the basement and are in dire need for a redecoration. Randomly, the hooks behind the doors were far too high up, they don't even have a toilet roll holder, there's a random shelf blocking the flush button from being easy to press, the lighting is really dark in a creepy way. I'd avoid this place.

I come here a lot but have never written a review. This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Leeds. Great prices and food and I find the staff very friendly and attentive. If I’m in Leeds and want a nice lunch I tend to eat here! Haven’t used the toilets myself as other reviews have mentioned but it’s a lovely place.

This is our favourite sushi place in the UK. We love sushi and have tried a lot of different places and this our favourite place. It's so fresh soft and delicious. Could eat it every day ! The staff are so friendly and the restaurant is beautiful also. Thank you from a very happy customer 😊 🌈

During a recent afternoon in Leeds, my partner and I dined at Sushi Waka, a nice and quiet Japanese restaurant. We ordered ramen, and it tasted delicious, hitting just the right spot. The staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we stepped in. The calm ambiance allowed us to enjoy our meal and each other's company without the usual restaurant noise A minor complaint was that their boba was very sticky and tended to stick to my teeth. Despite this, Sushi Waka provided a delightful setting for a cozy, satisfying dinner with excellent service, making it a spot we look forward to revisiting.

Food was ok, things forgotten on orders and had to keep asking. Toilets really do need sorting out there below standard borderline disgusting. Wouldn’t have eaten there if I’d of seen the toilets state first. Won’t be returning

Not good, have had awful stomach cramps for 2 days now. The toilets were disgusting as well, if the toilets are bad it doesn't say much for the food. Don't go!!

The place is nice in person (4.5 stars) and i have rated it 5 stars before for about a year but i sadly have to change this. never deliver the delivery guy is beyond rude!!!! Best Ramen in town. If you are looking for a real Japanese ramen experience look no further. Tastes just like the real thing. I’ve tried another ramen places in Leeds and they were close, but not cigar! Ramen in Japan is a popular staple, even more popular than sushi. So, no frills with ramen - just keep it simple. Nourishment, flavour, good price. All boxes checked.

Great value at £30 for two two-course meals. Food was incredible & well-presented, service was fast and staff were polite. Six-piece rolls come with all the trimmings if you like sushi. Tempura was also tasty. Few places in Leeds can fill a stomach with quality food at £15 a head. Can't recommend SushiWaka enough 👍

A wonderfully delicious place to eat in. The portions are largely sized and the prices are convenient. The interior is beautiful. The staff are so kind and professional. A bonus is that the place is halal and offers vegan/vegetarian options! The aesthetics of the restaurant are of a traditional Japanese interior.

Had a sushi burrito and it was very delicious!

The restaurant lied that a delivery had been made and pretended the driver had called me. In fact, there were no phone calls or texts. They just refused to deliver again or refund the order.

I got takeaway from Sushi Waka at the weekend and it was epic. As a veggie, sometimes your options are a bit limited but they've got a really nice varied choice of cruelty-free dishes and we got a lovely 30% off offer on Just Eat so it was really good value! Deffos recommend the sweet potato tempura and the asparagus & avocado hand roll 😍 thanks guys!

Ordered takeaway, food arrived 45 minutes late and cold. Staff and manager contacted but most unhelpful refused refund, fobbing me off to Just eat. Can’t comment on food- binned it was inedible

I walked in off the street hungry for sushi. I was not disappointed. Great food. Great service. Authentic as far as I can ascertain. Busy area and well worth the visit. Absolutely gorgeous. Do yourself a favour. Japanese people eat here.

An awesome place to get traditional Japanese food. There is plenty to choose from and all of it is delicious and at a reasonable price. Service was efficient and friendly and I would go back again.

I've just left a review for a restaurant in Leeds, and I must say, it serves the best sushi in town. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. I've ordered from this place in the past and never had an issue. Unfortunately tonight after a long day at work my partner and I decided to order from here. The delivery never showed up. I waited outside my flat and was constantly checking my phone as it took longer than normal. After over an hour of waiting patiently I called the restuarant only to have someone who claimed to be the manager scream at me that they tried calling me and my phone was unavailable. I was outside of my flat waiting. I was very clearly available. He just shouted at me repeatedly and ruined the entire night for my partner and I. I was able to get a refund from ubereats but I will never order from here again.

The quality of food is not good

Thought I had found a new sushi restaurant but I was a little disappointed, mixed tempura was lovely then the platter came but there was just two much rice on the rolls which were way more then a mouthful, the spicy tuna was the same so I only eat the tuna from the middle . Will try the restaurant again

I visited quite a couple of times and I would say it might not be the best (for others standard) but as an asian myself their food is top high comforting. I have tried their ramen but I think I would come back again for this katsu chicken curry rice. Also, there was a time I have left my lovely umbrella in the restaurant and they kept it. I never thought they would until I dropped by to ask if they’ve kept it by any chance. Lovely staff I got my umbrella back. ☺️

I placed an order via deliveroo and the restaurant did not deliver it to me. The delivery man must have been hungrier and stayed for himself. I spoke to the restaurant and they refused to deliver even though I wanted to pay out of pocket.

I ordered a take away through Deliveroo. The order was late by 40 minutes. I contacted Deliveroo to get a refund. Deliveroo contacted the restaurant so I couldn’t get my money back as the food was being delivered. Food came very late and asked driver to send it back as I was getting a refund. I got no food and raised complaint about both the restaurant and Deliveroo. Still no refund. Poor poor service from all.

Been twice the last month and the food is really good, it's served fast and it's warm and fresh. The restaurant isn't usually that busy which is nice and the staff are very friendly. One of if not the best pan-Asian restaurants in Leeds for value and freshness. Really enjoyed it and will be going again.

Food is good quality and tastes good

Back again, menu has changed but food is still delicious. We cleaned our bowls of ramen which comes with three choices of broth. I preferred the tonkotsu while my partner liked the soy. The ramen comes with soy egg too. The chicken karaage starter is authentic. Good value, and 10% off if pay by cash. Really packed so service tad slow but still good and attentive. Only flaw is the toilet which was shared with a nightclub above. Been here a few times, never disappoints. Can't go wrong with the ramen, sashimi, sushi. Sashimi slices are bigger, thicker than other typical Japanese restaurants too. good service as well. Luv that they show those Hong Kong foodie shows on TV.

I feel disgusted when I see the chef smoking and spitting outside the door.

We have been going to sushi waka for about two years. It’s our to go place when we want to treat ourselves. It has been always amazing with food and customer service. Unfortunately this last time we had a completely different experience. The food was okay at the best. The tempura, one of our favourites, was quite greasy this time. We had changes in the menu before and this time were told we couldn’t do it. Then once we finished they brought us the containers to the table for us to place the leftovers, but they had taken all the rest so we had nothing to transfer the food to the containers apart from our hands. We always ask hot sake and this time only it came with a blue roll around it bc it was hot, looked really bad. It’s a shame bc we don’t go out often but when we do we always go somewhere we know we would get a good experience. Hopefully it was just one off.

We ordered food through deliveroo. We paid £30 and food was never delivered. They say contact deliveroo for refund and deliveroo says contact restaurant for a refund. So we paid £30 for nothing. 0 stars

Can’t rate high enough! My fav place for vegan sushi in all of Leeds. I highly reccomend the vegan sushi burrito deep fried and best gyosa I’ve ever tasted! The maki and uramki are also divine! They have their own app you can order from too.

Ordered from here a few times, also sat in. Flawless everytime, and not expensive for what you're getting. Big portions too!

It was a very bad experience when ordering Sushi Waka via Deliveroo. The guy doing delivering is very rude and blunt. He called when the order is ready while he’s 30 mins earlier than the expected time, I said I need time to come to take it, and let him wait for six minutes. He said he didn’t care where I am as he just cannot see me. He kept on saying the F-word when he saw us.

Food was okay but the service was not. Popped in here for something to eat during Pride and we were the only ones in there. Understandably we've had a few to drink so were a bit merry, but weren't rowdy at all. Also would like to emphasize that we were THE ONLY TABLE IN THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT. However, this one server then asked my bf to 'please stop shouting'. We were taken aback by this comment and this kind of soured the entire evening. Especially since he wasn't being any louder than the rest of us. My bf had ordered the beef and cheese with rice which came with miso soup. The soup arrived 10mins before the rice which meant it was cold by the time he had his main meal. The same server then very rudely dropped the spoon onto the table when bringing the food around for my bf. Overall the other servers were lovely and the food wasn't bad, but that one server ruined the entire experience for the table and we would not come back.

I was served quite quickly. The food was OK. I suggest you may purchase the waiter call button and wash the floor more often.

I ordered a delivery from here because I really fancied sushi.The order took over 2 hours to arrive. I called the restaurant to see where my order was and all they said was it won't be long it's on its way, this was after it said it was on its way for 45 minutes. It looked like the food had been chucked into the boxes and it was all bashed around. My sushi was warm which has to be refrigerated before I even begin to eat it. The mochi I ordered has melted and become soup in the box. The drink has spilt everywhere and I got about a sip from the whole thing. Never ordering from here again! Now have to do another delivery and waste money and time as I've just come back from holiday and haven't gone food shopping yet.

Excellent food and friendly staff

We were seated outside on a rather cold day but the temperature was okay with the jacket. The large umbrellas cover everything which is useful but a bit of a drawback if the sunshine is trying to come through. Wines were expensive, so we just had two single glasses and ordered a choice of sushi. Service was good as was the atmosphere. The inside of the restaurant is very impressive with the decoration and extensive bar area. Not a cheap place but enjoyable for a special occasion.

But when we confront the manager about this, he didn't apologise or even remedy the problem, all he did was remove the service charge which is an optional legal choice anyways. The worst part is that he said that my bf was strange for having a reaction to the food. My bf Isn't allergic to anything and never had any sort of reaction with beef or any of the ingredients b4. We came to sushi waka a lot of times b4, but after today's service, we’re not gonna come to eat at sushi waka again. Very very disappointed!

Enjoyed it. What a lovely night. Will recommend the food was really amazing. We went on a Friday night out was busy but not distracting. I would say the good was expensive for two people but worth it.

Food never got delivered. Was told it was a failed delivery attempt after knocking twice, no one knocked on the door or rang the bell, and never saw a just eat car/bike outside my house. Rang them 15 times and immediately said user busy, even tried to ring on other phones and it said the same. When finally getting through to them they refused to give a refund even though i did not receive the food I had ordered, and they changed there story from ‘they knocked twice’ to ‘couldn’t find the address’. Will never be ordering from here again and would advise others to stay clear. I will be opening a dispute on just eat.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. I waited 2 HOURS for my delivery and when it finally showed up, the raw salmon was WARM from sitting on top of other orders for so long. They have zero regard for food handling. Do not risk your time and health here.

A fantastic all you can eat restaurant serving authentic Japanese sushi as well as a number of other Asian dishes. No need to worry if someone in your party doesn't like sushi as there's lots of other options for them to choose from. The decor gives it a very romantic vibe making it the perfect place for a date too. You get a 2 hour window in which to order and eat, with an tablet on the table which you used to order food. Place an order, and those dishes arrive within a few minutes. Then use the tablet to order your next round of dishes while eating. This is not a place you'll leave hungry! Service is swift and efficient.

Called in spur of the moment, really good decision! Place looks really clean and bright, the kitchen is visible and looks clean and calm. Food is good value, we made up our own tapas type meal, with 1 main and lots of sides and small plates..everything was delicious and we were both stuffed for under £40!(excluding drinks). If you don't pig out, mains are all under 15 quid and would suffice on their own. Will be back.

Had a nice meal here. Ramen is good and tasty, had better but it was good. Sushi tastes nice and fresh. Price wise it’s ok. However I booked with a 20% off and they didn’t add the discount, I was in a hurry and didn’t notice. Decor inside is great, service very quick. I will come back again.

Came here 40 min before seeing a performance at the theatre. Server told us we could get service and eat in time. Not the case left us waiting 10 minutes had 10 minutes to eat the food. Couldnt enjoy it.

Absolutely awful!! Such a shame as we really enjoy our Sushi Sundays as a treat at home from our usual (5 star!) sushi take away. After seeing such a high review rating on Deliveroo we thought we’d give it a try. It was a surprise that the prices were so much more in comparison to our usual place, but went ahead with the order all the same for a ‘special treat’! All the ‘hot’ food was very cold and soggy with some quite unpalatable tastes. In contrast the chilled food was surprisingly warm, including the raw salmon. The avocado in the dishes was excessively over-ripe and resembled mush. All in all a very disappointing experience leaving us quite hungry with light pockets.

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM THIS PLACE! The delivery driver is very very rude, told me to AND I QUOTE ‘get off my fat ass and get my bloody food’ then left the bag of food on the floor outside my building. When I reported this to management they refused to give me the name of the driver and the manager also refused to give me his name so am unsure of who I was speaking to. The manager said he would call me back after speaking with the driver. When he did call me back he was laughing and said the driver never said that and its my word against his. There are also many other people that have had a problem with the driver if you look through the reviews on here and other sites but clearly they refuse to find someone else so it just shows the standards of customer service that Sushi Waka holds. Im absolutely appalled by the service.

Amazing food and good value for money. We last visited a few years back and there has definitely been an improvement. Not too busy with minimal waiting Saturday lunchtime. Really generous portions for the price and very tasty.

I ordered from Sushi Waka on Deliveroo on the 3rd October. The driver did not ring the door (which the first time he claimed he did, and the second time he claimed he could not get out of the car because it was a main road). The driver also did not call my number and the restaurant did not reach out (my number is international, which is written on Deliveroo and which I told them repeatedly, but they probably still called the wrong number). My number on Deliveroo is correct (I checked) and has always worked in past orders. After reaching out to the restaurant myself I was told that the driver would come back. After waiting outside for 20 minutes and calling the restaurant multiple times, the restaurant called to say that the driver was outside (the restaurant had no issues reaching me, yet the employee blamed me for the driver's inability to dial the correct number). They told me where the driver was parked and I found him. The driver told me he did not know my number (the number that I told him was on Deliveroo), told me to f*ck off and showed me the middle finger. After almost running over my foot with his car he drove away without giving me the food. When I called and told them about the incident, the restaurant employee was entirely unhelpful and told me to sort it out with Deliveroo, but there is nothing that Deliveroo could do since the restaurant employs the driver directly. I emailed the restaurant about this and also received no reply.

Our sushi was very tasty. We tried 3 different types of sushi, all was very good. Not overpriced. Service was also ok. Definitely will return

Visited here at lunch time. Ordered chicken udon bowl. Wait time was average. Food was average. Prices slightly high for the quality of the food. This wasn't a terrible experience by any means but did leave feeling slightly disappointed. Nothing much else to add - other than the waiter who served us was professional and helpful. or ye mate

The best place for sushi in Leeds. Clean tables, tasty food and the prices was reasonable. I recommend the Japanese wine- deep plum note, bearly met at sushi restaurants.

Food and service was great, as always. The venue, however, is GRIM. The toilets are a shocking mess, no soap in the ladies, no locks on some of the cubicles, no working hand dryer, only half a roll of super cheap and melty toilet paper to dry hands with. Half of the toilets ripped out and just hanging about by the sinks. The floors look filthy, the stairs need repairing. This place is a dump that happens to make great food.

Visited a few times and enjoyed a lot the food. Really good entries, especially the octopus balls (takoyaki). About the sushi, I have always ordered maki and similar as I feel the nigiri is slightly overpriced. However, this maki and similar rolls are amazing! Amazing taste and fantastic for the prize. Usually spend about 25-35 per person. The personnel is polite and most of the time really attentive (last time a bit sleepy but nice). Recommended if you want sushi around Leeds!

I ordered this through Deliveroo. Apparently it was very busy. The squid had not been properly prepared so the thin skin was on every ring. The beef was basically mice from a packet mixed with stuff. The food, was lukewarm, which I understandable but the rice was too. The food had been sitting around for 10 mins before pickup. The sushi samon rolls, tasted far too fishy. 3/4 day old salmon. How this restaurant got a high score is a mystery to me. In edible, 1 star, just about edible 2 stars. Like a bad come dine with me. These guys are fabricating reviews.

Went here with my sister and had an extremely lovely experience, ramen was extremely generous and flavourful and the sushi was delicious. The girl who served us was very lovely and extremely efficient. Food came out very quickly and the bubbles tea were refreshing. Would absolutely come here again :)

Wanted sushi so Google came with this recommendation, ordered king prawn sushi and another dish gravy with rice and king prawn, they brought the sushi first I tried couple of them the I saw the cook coughing on the food excessively and wiping his nose with his hand, so I waited good 15 min and observed him if he washes his hands or stop cooking, but no he continued, then I asked for the Bill, they were busy Chatting with each other, so I went to the till and asked the gye in counter if he is the manager to what he replied YES, I told him what happened and that I didn't touch the meal, but he hurried and tok the card reader and made me pay full amount... Very nasty poor hygiene and very bad costumer service avoid at all cost.
