Sushimania in Brighton and Hove

I can’t comment on the food as didn’t get as far as eating here, we was seated and the waitress was so rude and nasty that we left before getting food or drink, totally unnecessary way to talk to customers

Don't pay the service charge, it goes directly into the owner's pocket, the staff members don't get a single penny from it.

That’s the worst sushi what I have ever eat in my whole life , quality of fish is no quality at all salmon was disgusting and when you buy spicy roll you get spicy ketchup on top never go there no recommend for anyone

I usually have a 'you have to try everything twice rule'. Unfortunately, I will not be applying this here. This was the first and only time I would come here. Firstly, we had the, all you can eat, so the menu was different (maybe the a la carte is better). I enjoyed the process of scanning the QR and selecting 6 hot dishes and 6 sushi dishes every 15 minutes for your 90-minute duration. The seaweed was the chewiest I've been served, the children peeled it off. The hot dishes were better, but the kimchi rice was stodgy and lacked any flavour. The sashimi was also low quality cuts. If the food is poor at a restaurant, it doesn't really matter about the other notable items. However, in this case, it was also incredibly tired. There was stock, extra chairs, and tables piled on the restaurant floor. The toliets were no better. There were sections of units missing and it had exposed pipework. As you can see in the video, there were also small flies that were there the entire time, even after removing a few. Overall, it wasn't worth the £100+ bill for two dry adults, one child and a baby.

Just had to walk out before sitting down due to very abrupt and rude staff. Not at all welcoming.

Was sat in there for around 20 minutes, wasnt busy and waitors kept ignoring us and wouldn't serve us. Rude service and didnt even look clean to be honest.

I always go here as a treat to myself. The sushi isn’t brilliant but still very delicious and amazing for the price (I always go during 1/2 off)

I never write reviews but I feel this one deserves it. As we walked in, the place was completely empty, the room was dark and dingy and it smelt of weed. We got to our table, was given water and then was offered lollypops which I thought was really strange. We scanned the QR code and picked our food which looked and sounded tasty. It came out one by one which is fine and looked nice but it all tasted horrendous. I stuck to safe foods (because the place looked horrendous) such has the beef noodles and had a few duck sushi's but my partner and his friends ordered a sushi selection, tempura prawns and battered oyster and as soon as he took a bite he knew instantly the fish was not right. Everything smelt bad and off. The toilets were horrible, the floor was sticky, there was a mop sat in the corner and marigold gloves left by the sink. I am so surprised none of us got sick. It cost £26 pound per person which is a good price but not worth it for the food we received and if you don't finish your meal you have to pay full price. We had the oysters left over and I couldn't let anyone eat those so we had to take them with us and bin them. I will never go there again and anyone thinking of going, please don't bother!

To be honest the fact they kept putting our delivery time back wasn’t really the issue! They missed an item and sent a wrong item as well, I immediately phoned and told them, I was promised the items would be sent after they spoke to the manager, and they would phone me back immediately. 20 hours for them to call back, just to say we’re going to refund you. The food was not up to normal standards and after being a faithful customer for years I won’t ever use or recommend them again.

We had the special and it did not disappoint!! The cold sushi and hot meals were equally delicious. Incredibly fresh seafood. The service was friendly, polite and prompt. The restaurant is popular on the weekends, I recommend reserving a table.

great place, took my partner here and she loved it, all you can eat menu is perfect and really worth spending the money, the payment system is really clever and very easy to use. the only thing i wasn’t a fan of was the squid nigiri which lacked a bit of flavour and was too chewy for my liking but order any other fish dish and you will be pleased, the atmosphere was nice but some issues with music and it was a little dark and dreary maybe some colour and a little more of a sushi resturaunt vibe would be nice, waiters were quick to come and top up water and bring food, maybe the waiters could be a little more hospitable at the door and the menu could look a little nicer and with some more pictures of the dishes but you cant complain too much with the price. Perfect for a big gathering or a nice gorge on food with a friend. i highly recommend the fried eel nigiri and any udon, loved it!

shrimp tempura was not de veined and full of poop, we then asked for a clean portion, they took the prawns and then came back out 5 minutes later with the SAME plate of dirty tempura… after asking again we finally got some de veined prawns. the service was okay however. food came out at a good pace, but was mediocre and flavourless at best.

You can really eat as much as you want, the atmosphere is organized, the staff are polite, however I wouldn't recommend the place due to the food, unfortunately the sushi isn't of much quality, just rice and a small piece of salmon, the temaki in the same way, a mini piece of salmon and just rice, you eat very few pieces and you're already stuffed. In the photo posted I show the size of the uramaki salmon piece, with lots of rice and a small piece of salmon, unfortunately I didn't take any more photos!

Unfortunately the quality of the food has dipped recently. Some of the sushi toppings did not taste fresh at all and the salmon sashimi was still partially frozen.

Sushi mania is always my go to. Really good value for money and the food is delicious. I would avoid it during busy times as the service considerably slows down (expected) but also the food quality lowers. But overall still one of my regular places 🧡

A disappointing visit, we had buffet £26.80 per person. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the sushi. The rice wasnt well compacted,fell apart,seaweed v chewy and salmon lacked flavour. Be careful not to order too many big rolls,you will find it hard to finish as they are bigger in size. The hot food was generally better. We didnt enjoy prawn tempura,was more batter than prawn and you could tell the meat in char sui/beef skewers were low quality. Interior is very dark,worn furniture, the place feels tired. We had a lovely young server who was friendly. I felt I had wasted £60 on lunch, wished I went elsewhere. Would not recommend and will not return.

Good sushi, great choice. Fairly large portion sizes, too. Half prize offer was welcome, as it would have been expensive otherwise. Quite gloomy interior, ordering through app felt impersonal, and service was basic.

I had an amazing experience at Sushimania while celebrating a birthday! The variety on the menu was impressive, offering so many delicious options for sushi lovers. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared, with the nigiri and sashimi being absolute standouts. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, which made the evening even more enjoyable. From the ambiance to the quality of the food and service, everything exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect place to celebrate, and I highly recommend Sushimania for any special occasion or just a fantastic sushi night!

The food is not good; the meat had a weird taste, not fresh for sure. The seaweed sheets from sushi were not crunchie but rubbery.The bathroom doors were large opened. Such a waste of money. Worst sushi place in my life.

Walked in for sushi buffet and told "its only for two" had to leave as am solo diner went for a fantastic dimsum down the road instead spent £51 there stupid rule!!

Nice place to eat but the food came out covered in oil, the tempora was not crispy at all and was meh at best, have been before and was amazing but this time was not good.

the food was amazing, super filling me and my friend lived it. We weren't aware that it came with chopsticks but we made it work. The place told us that it'd arrive between 8:40 and 9 but it turned up at 9:10.

Absolutely disgusting behaviour. Slow service. Didn't serve us sushi even tho every other table got served but us. It's called sushi Manea ?? When we complained they made us look like we were the problem and said they served us all the dishes they were meant to even tho they didn't. By the 3rd time complaining all the waiters and the chef came out to argue there point even tho it was clear they didn't serve us. Can not believe they speak to people like this do not go to this restaurant. We will not be returning it ruined my mother's birthday.

Dreadful experience our order was 2 hours late and tasteless

My experience was great, both the pleasant atmosphere and the food was very good and it was fresh, I arrived at the restaurant it was empty but we were still very well received, we had difficulty using the online menu but the guy was very kind , I saw the reviews before going and realized that they complained about the service and never the food, I went to try it myself and honestly I really liked it, the guy at the end even talked to us and everyone was super friendly.

One of the worst restaurants in Brighton I’ve ever been. The gyoza dumplings were so dry and inedible. Sushi wasn’t that bad. Prices are valid. I strongly don’t recommend this place if you want to eat good japanese food.

The sushi bites are HUGE, it is very hard to get the entire bite in your mouth as you're supposed to eat it. Some of them are very tasty, but most of them are just normal. I feel the place is very dark, tho. It was good service and very quick, or maybe because it was just me in the place.

We went on father's day. The food was terrible ! Most of the sushi were flooded with sauce and fried onions. Tempura is not proper tempura jut deep fried like Chinese food. Not authentic Japanese food at all. The service was even worst, had to ask for water for several times. When asked for service the waitress just looked at me and walked pass. Not enough waiter/waitress. I don't think we will go back again.

The restaurant is a bit weird, while they have several options like unlimited sushi and so on, they have so many additional rules which they write separately so be aware when ordering. The waiter charged us a wrong amount so we had to wait more for them to refund us.

Price has increased for the bottomless menu, chairs and tables need changing and the menus need changing as they were very sticky and falling apart. Been going here for years, noticed today that the place needs some TLC.

Horrible, seriously, uramaki was hot and just rice.. btw was just rice everywhere!! Terrible!! The only star is for the waiters

Food is great; but the prices of the menus are confusing. The one they post in their website is different from their actual menu. When you get there just ask the waiters and they will explain everything to you, just double ask because sometimes it is confusing.

Check the menu before you go - there are rules to how much you can order at a time but to be honest the portions are generous and outlet first selection of 6 dishes covered the cost of the bill. We ended up with 13 dishes between 2 of us and had a to take some home. Be prepared, if you have leftovers you pay £5 for each box you take away with you. It was well worth it as that box contained 2 whole dishes which did us for lunch the next day.

Great food, close to the seafront and just behind West Street. Bottomless lunch was £30.

Food was good but the service was slow for somewhere that has a time limit! The atmosphere was also not buzzing… though we were there at about 4pm on a Thursday.

Avoid! Please Avoid this restaurant. Garbage food. It's a waste of money. This place is a fake sushi restaurant. The food we ordered was so bad that we had to pay and leave without even eating it.

Been here twice , had food poisoning once. Staff got annoyed at me for not eating sushi even though I told them that sushi was warm. Now me and my girlfriend are suffering.

The food is delicious, wait time minimal and no matter how busy it gets all the staff still care! Especially Faye, with an infectious enthusiasm! I send all my friends here when they visit!

Food you ask for individually comes half price, meaning you can get donburi for under a tenner - quite the hack in the middle of Brighton, frankly. P.S. All the best to Faye!

The food here is of a very high quality, especially the sushi and tempura. The service is brilliant (thank you Faye) with the food arriving quickly and the staff being extremely helpful and friendly.

The fourth time I've eaten here now. Always go for the bottomless option, basically all-you-can-eat. The food is fresh, the service prompt & always helpful. If you want quality food at a good price, this is the place.

Waiters were chatting even though we needed their help. They tried to charge much more than we ordered. Also we were still eating but they tried to clear the dish. So rude. I won’t go back again.

Visited for a birthday. Favourite place to celebrate. Great food and attentive friendly service. Some had all you can eat and others ate a la carte, which was all half price. Really made the evening special. Even gave my son an extra dessert with a candle and came out singing.

Great value for lunch time. ... some oddities tho. I'd strongly recommend the half price lunch but you will probably sat where you don't want to be... love the place and the all you can eat is awesome. 2024 update - all you can eat is even better

We’ve been coming for a few years and had a fantastic experience today. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive - nothing was too much trouble and we felt very well looked after. The food was fantastic as always, a wonderful variety of flavours and fresh ingredients. I have always spoken so highly of this restaurant and will continue to recommend to friends and family. The quality of food has really gone down hill the sushi we received was stale and dry and the crab in the California rolls was hard. The decor is really dated and old, much nicer places to eat in Brighton. Shame because I used to love coming here

Amazing service! Great food, all you can eat had limited options but were still great!

Decent sushi, not super fresh but we did eat there on a Monday after their weekend rush so I’m not complaining. Seaweed salad had a funky taste. We went in for the 50% but they’ve definitely increased their prices, we still paid £40 in total. Servers were friendly.

My partner's favourite sushi place! We love coming to Sushi mania for the all you can eat buffet, all the food is delicious and it comes out quickly, complimentary water is provided with the glasses being filled up whenever they are empty. Staff are very friendly and courteous to their customers.

Our favourite restaurant in brighton they're on the ball with refilling our water like we’re plants on a hot day, plenty of time on bottomless menu timer and the food comes out quick so you can stuff your face nonstop, so much to choose from on the menu and alway leave a couple of belt holes heavier, great music that adds to the atmosphere

Amazing customer service and food. Had one of the best experiences at sushimania. Faye went out of his way to serve us, was very kind and keen to let us know of the allergies. He was a all round amazing person I would definitely recommend this place to any couple looking for a nice date! Will be coming back soon!

We arrived early on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was quiet but became busier. We had the all you can eat and it was lovely with no complaints at all. All freshly made to order and quick to arrive. Ordering via your phone is so easy and convenient. We would definitely go again.

So bad, ‘chicken breast’ domburi was a birdseye fried chargrill reconstructed chicken breast which was Luke warm. The yasai tempura was 60% aubergine. No sparking wine by the glass. Lights up full blast and no atmosphere. Presumed I hadn’t eaten the cuisine before and suggest I download an app to look at pictures to help me?! The domburi was garnished with a whole cherry tomato and bloody kos lettuce?! I wanted to like this place but now understand why they have to run offers all the time.

Best sushi I've eaten in 9 countries. Great selection. Impeccable service. Agreeable prices. 100/100 will eat there regularly and often!

The food is good but I would say that the service is excellent especially Faye who kept on attending to us.

Rude service Never back again

There's a lot of choice of hot and cold foods on the menu. We loved the spicy dragon rolls and the soft shell crab, which were beautifully done. We also enjoyed the beef skewers, which were medium rare and juicy in the middle, and the fried tempura sushi was interesting to try.

Perfect sushi and katsu. Teriyaki roll was especially great, definitely one of the best options for sushi!

The sushi is nice, a couple of weeks ago I had the ramen that wasn’t nice it lacked flavour and seasoning. Every time I want to eat sushi I come here.

This is the first time we have a bottomless. We didn't understand what it was so I asked the staff. Sorry about my english that it's not very good but at least I think they should try to explain. And they also gossip us in Chinese, we may not look like Chinese but I understand your language.

Food and service were both excellent. I always enjoy coming to Sushimania. One small thing I do find annoying is that a gratuity charge is added automatically to the bill without asking. If that's how much you're going to charge, please just include it in the listed price, and pay your staff a higher wage. Tips should always be the diner's prerogative.
