Sushi rice obviously not made fresh and took out from fridge! But the worse is the manager Leo’s attitude! He is very rude with very bad manner! His staff brought us to a table and after we seated the manager yelled at us saying that we should sit at other table or we should go! We said we was brought to the table and he yelled at us saying that the manager is authority to who sit where! Not only to guests he is rude but also to his colleagues waitress! He yelled at them for a credit card machine failure (isn’t it the manager’s problem rather than blaming part time staff?) When he moved away I asked two waitresses standing together is he always like this and rude to colleagues and guests they both nodded!

The absolute worst sushi I’ve ever had. Very complicated ‘bottomless’ lunch deal which is so poorly explained. Started off with simple things such as California Rolls and other such items but the seaweed wrapping was like rubber and inedible. The rice was also very ‘tough’. We had one roll that supposedly had crispy duck in it. More like duck sawdust! Two hot items were served cold and when told them they were simply microwaved (hot lettuce on side)! Noodles tasted like supernoodles on a bad day. We were still charged the full amount despite our complaints and so many dishes untouched. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Came here for lunch yesterday and had a meal upstairs. After we paid and left the manager and a member of staff followed us out and accused us of not paying. It was incredibly uncomfortable. When our waiter explained that we indeed had paid he struggled to accept this as an answer. If you enjoy getting accosted by the manager and accused of theft you should definitely visit this place. Been here many times over the last year but will not visit again.

update 2024: the competition is more fierce in Cambridge nowadays, the restaurant has opted for always half price menu, and the price is competitive again. The food quality is as good as the competitors (kineya, wasabi). For 7 pounds you can get a large bowl of Raman, what's to complain? As many pointed out, floor managers are always a bit grumpy. But they will not get into your way. The food taste good tho, especially the half price is a good deal.

I think the reviews for this restaurant are very harsh. I have come here a number of times and have loved it every time! The food is delicious and there are so many dishes to choose from. The service is very fast and the price is very reasonable. Perhaps some of the staff could be a little more attentive but overall it is always a pleasant experience!

This place has gone down hill. I used to enjoy coming here, but they are now attempting to force tipping for service which was terrible. When someone asks to remove a service charge, the first response should be “why?” not “don’t worry I will pay the staff member from my own wage.” Two staff members tried to convince me that it was mandatory. This is why knowing your rights is key. I have no problem paying a service charge, for good service. Hell, I’d even have paid it if I received a question about the service with apology. The food was also bland and broadly tasteless this time. Such a shame, as I’ve visited so many times and enjoyed it.

The most displeasurable dining experience i’ve ever had the displeasure of experiencing. As someone who has waited on tables since the age of 14, i do understand it can be difficult especially during busier times (to which this happened not to be). However there is no excuse for plain attitude and disrespect towards customers. The staff had actively altered the menu infront of us. Dissuaded us to get more even though it was only our second round of ordering the bottomless saying that we wouldn’t be able to finish that despite it being a small order of 2 sashimi and a bowl of rice. Sushi was good, the rest of the food was mediocre at best. I genuinely cannot express my displeasure towards the two awful chinese managers. Not the kind of hospitality we are commonly known for. Had to actively argue to remove the service charge off the bill. Outrageous. food was dropped, my orders were wrong 5 times. Never have i ever gone out of my way to write a review for anything on google but had to make an exception for this one here 😭👆👆👆-10/10, would not scran here again. Dreadful and shocking. Would rather resort to eating the grass in Jesus green next time. Would still be treated nicer by passing public than was treated within this restaurant.

During exam term, I would come at 21:00 for the half-price food (after a long day of revision in a nearby college). This place is wayyyyy better than wasabi / itsu, and I love the songs that they play in the restaurant. Nostalgic ;) P.s. the staff were really sweet when they saw me having online meetings / revising in the restaurant.

This is probably my most regular restaurant as you can eat a lot of really nice, healthy, fresh food for about £10 each (or less if you get a main), which isn't really doable anywhere else in town. The sushi is fine, obviously not like what you would get if you paid 5 times+ the price elsewhere but still decent. Other dishes, like the pancake sticks, the seaweed salad and the ramens are great. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is always buzzy but chilled, service is quick and prices are ridiculously cheap during weekdays. Never been disappointed yet!

We go here often as a family for the buffet , food is fantastic. My children love the place. Would recommend this place if you’re in Cambridge. The app to order food is always a bit temperamental, but once the staff assist it’s normally sorted.

Come here for the all you can eat sushi buffet. Once you place your order you'll receive a qr code which means you can order via your phone. The great thing about this buffet is you have access to all the hot and cold options. You still pay for drinks though, which are a little on the expensive side but who cares when you're stuffing yourself with sushi? The amount you can order has some limits on quantity within a time perios, but honestly we found that two rounds was plenty for us and we were comfortably within the time limit. If you're a small eater you're probably better to go a la carte, and don't expect to be able to take anything away with you, but overall probably the best value sushi in Cambridge, if you're hungry! Quality was good too.

I visited here for the all you can eat buffet and overall the experience wasn’t bad. The waitresses were nice and accommodating. We did have to ask them if we could order drinks as we weren’t offered them at the start. The digital ordering service is easy enough to use and the food comes out relatively fast. All the food tested really fresh, was well presented and tasty. The male owners did come round and keep refilling water up for us too which was nice. The only downfall I would say is that when looking at the bill we were charged for an extra drink which the waitress was apologetic for and did take off however I have seen in another review that this has happened to a customer before.

We ordered the all you can eat. They didn't explain how the service worked when we came in. It took half an hour for our first order to come and there is a one hour 45 minute time limit. The food finally came and the quality was very poor. The rice was still hot on the sushi and the fish wasn't fresh at all. We left some pieces and went to pay and then the manager came and tried to make us pay extra for the food we didn't eat. Then I told him that we weren't happy with the quality and he just said okay. No apologies or anything. Most of the staff were also very rude, but our waitress was polite tbf.

They are working hard Never a big fan of sushi, but I am going to give a positive review. I think the quality, presentation and technique are improving over the years. The sushi rolls were no long broken when I picked them up with chopsticks. The fish in the sushi was fresher than I remembered too. It's more authentic than those supermarkets sushi already. More reasonable price than a lot of luxury restaurants too. Authentic Japanese restaurants in UK can be crazily expensive. Only Japan can provide the best sushi in the world, it's common sense. While this restaurant is in UK, so there's no point to compare. To me it's one of the best sushi places we can get at Cambridge already. Clearly the restaurant is under strict management. They are working hard to improve. Most importantly, they take customers' opinion seriously. Sincere production crew. Well done and good luck!

Me and my dad came here on 26/08/23, it was our first visit to this restaurant. Me and him are big sushi lovers and we were attracted to the restaurant due to the 'All you can eat' aspect. It was relatively easy to order your food, and the food was rather enjoyable, but our food was often delivered to the wrong table and took around 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Despite the food quality, I must complain about the service and in- particular the manager of the restaurant. My dad went up to pay our bill which was about £60 rough for the AYCE and a few drinks. This is understandable, but then there was a '10% service charge' added onto our bill which we were not aware of. My dad realised this charge after he paid, and he brought it up to the worker since he was confused as to why he wasn't given a choice on if he wanted to pay the charge or not, which by the way is a legal right in the UK. The worked told us to speak to the manager and so we did. The manager was very rude and unprofessional, told us that we were 'stealing from the workers wages' and he was saying it loudly trying to embarrass us into not getting a refund of the service charge. Luckily, my dad is a very resilient man and he ended up getting a refund of the service charge. On our way out of the restaurant, the manager followed us and told us that 'we aren't welcome anymore' and that he 'doesn't want to see us again'. I found this very childish and petty of the manager, considering it was his mistake for not telling his workers to inform customers of the service charge. DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE RUDE STAFF AND BAD SERVICE.

Absolutely terrible service from the manager! The last time we were here, the salmon maki was not fresh (salmon tasted almost rotten). The waiter was kind and agreed to replace with another menu. But the manager denied it and tried to gaslight us saying the salmon was fresh (even though it clearly tasted far less fresh than another salmon menu we ordered). So disappointed with the manager's attitude. Will definitely not go here again.

This is a fast-sushi place run by Chinese owner. The quality of sushi is pretty bad (the fish, the rice, the tempura..), honestly even for their half-price a la carte deal. The rolls are really bad, and we left them untouched, unfortunately. Speaking of the a la carte deal, they claim all a la carte items are half price, and they ask you to order using your phone by scanning a barcode. The price on the web is already have the "discount" priced in. Bottom line: I wouldn't go there, if you actually want to have a decent sushi. If you do go, just order something safe.

Ironically, don’t come here if you like sushi because the level of sushi served here can only be compared to supermarket meal deal sushi. Rice is undercooked and under seasoned. Fish is fresh enough but unbelievably bad quality. Had a roll with eel and it was spongy and overcooked. Worst thing was all the fried food had a funny after taste, probably from old oil and was soggy. The all you can eat has been trimmed down to a fraction of the dishes they used to include so is no longer good value and they modify the dishes (like removing roe from some of the rolls and bulking up the rice). Give that a miss. The other thing here is that everything is half price all day, everyday from the a la carte which may sound good but when you order and then never finish, they don’t allow you to take food home. This makes no sense as food was ordered a la carte and so wasteful ordering shouldn’t have been a consideration. It is literally treated just like the buffet. Stupid business decision. Go to Sticks’n’Sushi if you’re looking for sushi. Heck, even Yo Sushi would at least be more predictable. At least you get what you pay for, mostly.

Terrible service from management! Been here a few times. Food and service were usually alright. Sashimi is fresh and the hosomaki is decent (though not as fresh as Wasabi) But the last time we were here, the salmon hosomaki was not fresh (salmon tasted more fishy than usual, almost rotten). Our waiter agreed to replace with another menu or cancel the order. But the manager (an older gentleman) disagreed and tried to gaslight us saying the salmon was fresh (even though it clearly tasted far less fresh than the salmon sashimi we also ordered). There are 2 main deals at the restaurant: 50% off at lunchtime and all you can eat for around £18. I went for an all you can eat meal with my mother and we left the restaurant very happy. There haven’t been good sushi restaurants in Cambridge for a while. For sushi, both of these deals are great but even despite these, the prices are affordable. The fish was definitely fresh and delicious. Don’t read the negative reviews about this because they are not true, it’s a wonderful place to eat with polite staff. However, the manager is incredibly rude and unprofessional, just ignore him 😅 Update: they have increased their all-you-can-eat price to £24.80 plus a service charge. I recommend skipping paying this as it doesn’t go to the hard-working servers. The manager is very grumpy and disrespectful. When you order food during AYCE, they bring the wrong items and less than what you ordered. If you try to order more, the manager will tell you that it’s too much and try to convince you to not order more. The only reason why I’d recommend this place is because I love sushi and there’s nothing better than all-you-can-eat sushi.

Rating the all-you-can-eat: it’s fine, wouldn’t call it authentic but it’s tasty enough. The quality of the dishes ranges from bad to alright, and the sashimi isn’t the best but it is definitely above the average you’d get in Britain at a similar-end restaurant! The wasabi however, is distinctly average. But at least better than the fast food chains here. The price is a tad expensive for the quality but as long as you have a big enough appetite, it’s well worth the value for money if you know what to get, and order smart!

The senior manager (older guy from Hong Kong/southern China) is shockingly rude and unprofessional. Very unfriendly on arrival and downright rude subsequently. Both of our serving staff were very polite and friendly, and so I declined to pay the automatic "service charge" as it doesn't go to staff - this meant having to state very firmly to the manager a number of times that I wouldn't be paying it. Instead I directly gave the waiter a cash tip. The food ranged from mediocre to half-decent and I suppose it's not bad value if you correctly navigate the labrynthine ordering system (1 hour 45 minute maximum stay, 15 minutes between ordering rounds, you have to finish each dish or you'll be charged for them individually). The soft drinks were very odd, as if from poorly-mixed knock-off syrup or something. As we left the manager said "go out, you're not welcome here again." I'm fairly sure that was just his personal diktat and the rest of the staff would be happy for us to come back, but there are plenty of other sub-par options in Cambridge so we'll probably adhere to the ban.

My honest review of the all you can eat as a vegan. I was a bit hesitant as I’d read all the bad reviews, but I was so impressed! For context, we sat at table 3, at 6pm this evening. Came here tonight for my birthday, and I was absolutely stuffed! We were absolutely spoilt for choice. They don’t currently do any birthday discounts, but I think doing this would be a good idea as more people would come to celebrate their birthday with you. The service was quick, simple to use the bottomless system, and quality food. The ladies who served us (no name badges) were so kind, and attentive - they definitely deserve recognition! Looses one star as the miso soup (and ramen) contain fish and eggs. Also the sushi was warm, I personally prefer Yo Sushi for this as it’s cold - but that’s just personal preference. Solid 4 stars! Will be coming back again, thank you Sushimania💗xx

Price was pretty good for all-you-can-eat, food was very good, better than expected for an AYCE restaurant. Great selection of dishes included, very tasty and all well-presented on the plate. Would especially recommend the crispy duck and cucumber sushi, outstanding. Service was as expected, not exemplary but nothing negative to add either, very slight mix-up with drinks but the mix-up was getting an extra drink we didn't order and not having to pay for it. The atmosphere was very nice, completely detracted from the positioning of the restaurant and easy to completely lose yourself inside in the best way. Everyone else around seemed to be relaxed and enjoying themselves despite it being fairly busy on a weekday lunchtime. Very easy to eat too much, be careful not to fill up too much too quickly, 1hr 45m sounded shorter than it was, it's plenty of time to absolutely stuff yourself without rushing!

Food was good. Waitresses were really nice. But managers were very rude and impolite. While waiting, we kept the menu on the table but one of the managers just randomly came and put it back into the stand that was on the table without saying anything. We felt very confused. Also waited an hour for a dish to come. At the end I asked to remove the service charge and the manager said “we can remove it this time but next time we won’t serve you if you remove service charge.” I felt very disrespected because he made me feel like I did something illegal.

Food is good. Portions are good. Just be really careful when choosing 1/2 off or all you can eat. I had been to the restaurant twice before and chose to do half off that actually came out cheaper for 4 people than choosing all you can eat the last time we had been to the restaurant, specially considering you don’t have access to “full” menu on the all you can eat. Today however, we weren’t offered a physical menu to order but a QR code to make our choices on our phones. Prices shown on the virtual menu looked normal and I thought we would get half off those prices which would have made our meal cheaper than all u can eat. At the end came the surprise that these prices were already the discounted price. The bill at the end was way much more than I expected, considering we weren’t shown a menu with “regular” prices. I feel as if this should have been explained by someone before we ordered. I was really disappointed at the end.

There is great choice of Sushi and other dishes. Most of the food was really good. The King Prawn Tempura was not crispy as expected. You can eat unlimited for £25 and you have 01:45min available. There is also a la carte menu available if you prefer. The service was good and overall, we had a great night out. Within walking distance from Grand Arcade car park. We have a big family of 5 young kids who all love Japanese food and particularly sushi. We love coming to Sushimania as a treat to satisfy their emerging tastes for international food. We normally go for the buffet; the food quality is good, options generous and the speed of service excellent.

All you can eat sushi is never going to be of the highest quality as the venue needs to make a profit. But we were pleasantly surprised at how fresh and tasty all the cold dishes were! The hot dishes left a lot to be desired however. Staff were dismissive and grumpy, asked us “have you eaten here before?” And when we said no, just left us with a QR code and we had to work it out ourselves.

I’ve been in Sushimania Cambridge few times and never got disappointed. The sushi was always fresh and very tasty. All you can eat - the best option to try a bit of everything. The central location is a big plus.

Before COVID pandemic, I used to come here with friends for All-you-can-eat deals and we really enjoyed it a lot! Recently I have been back 3-4 times for quick lunch with A la carte options (half-price deal) It was soooooo gooood!!! Great taste, generous portions, fantastic customer service, good price too!!!
