Sushi Stop in Edinburgh, City of

Was pleasantly surprised with my takeaway order of a salmon roll for my train ride. One of the best I’ve had in Edinburgh and it will now be my favourite takeaway option for my train journeys. Highly recommend!

I ordered miso ramen and it was tasteless, just a wee bit of tofu and plain, boiled vegetables. I prefer to pay £1 more in a real Japanese restaurant. Not coming back. Service was nice.

As a lover of Japanese food, I went in yesterday for sushi after work for the first time and liked everything about it, staff, food and atmosphere. Just to add, it's kinda rare for me to eat from a place and crave more after leaving. I felt that yesterday Great job

When myself and my partner go to Edinburgh we ALWAYS go here for amazing fresh food from fantastic ladies who run this establishment. If you go to Edinburgh you simply HAVE to pay a visit to experience the food and the relaxed atmosphere. I wouldn't swap my experiences here for anything else.

I recently ordered sushi there and they didn't make me fresh, they just took it from the refrigerator and put it on a plate. It was very unpleasant. I won't buy sushi there anymore.

Have been coming here for around 2 years, the food is good and affordable, has a good flavour and just freshly made, doesn’t take long to get your order and overall great, a few of the handful of times we have been going the staff is usually good however we have had a few instances where we’re pressured to order before we were ready. However we have stayed loyal as the food there is great

What a gem, grabbed some sushi to go for a train ride home and it was very good. Much tastier than what you get at Itsu! A friendly service too. High recommended.

Not a bad place to stop if you are getting a train. Sushi was fine. Nothing special but better than I expected from a train station sushi place. Would probably stop again if I was on my way out of Edinburgh station on the train.

I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, eel nigiri and salmon nigiri. I would highly recommend any of these dishes. The staff were wonderful and very polite. I would highly recommend this establishment :)

When I started to go to this place around 2018 used to be really good food but on my last 2 visits I had food poisoning in April 2023 and I been served fake prawns June 2023 (macrae imitation prawn tails) and the flying fish roe was terrible too did not taste good , It is a shame they prefer keep price low instead give more quality food (AVOID THIS PLACE).

Very authentic Japanese food.Quick service and pocket friendly. Good for quick bites but they're very money minded they won't servecyou sauces and napkins until you ask them,and this thing they're doing with every customer, that's really bad.

I'm always coming back here. I love the place! The staff are very friendly and the food is always good! I definitely recommend the grilled salmon rolls and chicken & veg dumplings.

It is definitely a lovely place to have some delicious food. Authentic Japanese food. Sushi, Ramen, and Dorayaki all taste so good. Personally recommend the Dragon roll and Salmon special roll. You can see the food is fresh and delicious. Also, if you are staying in the Waverly station and feeling hungry. That is your choice!

Great little spot. I can't fault the food. The mochi ice cream was delicious, and so was the sushi. Highly recommended. £15 for everything in the photo. that's not a bad deal at all.

Service was quick and decent atmosphere however the tonkotsu ramen I had was one of the worst ramen I've ever had in my life, tiny portion (Medium size bowl was only 40% filled), unflavourful (Could only taste salt) and bad texture (Lumps of noodle sticking together). Definitely do not recommend.

Great place! Arrived at Waverly on a cold day and immediately wanted soup. Found this place in the corner of the food court. The gals working there were very nice, food came out fast and it was delicious.

Sushi was alright but ramen was awful. People are really kind but the atmosphere of the restaurant wasn't as good.

Had some sushi, two bowls of ramen, and some dumplings. My son liked his sushi and my other son and I really liked our ramen. We’ve had ramen at several other places while in Edinburgh and I liked this place best. It was prepared while we waited so nice and fresh. I asked for my miso ramen to be made spicy and it was perfect, my younger son loved his hell ramen. Overall I would definitely recommend this place as a quick and very satisfying meal.

We have been to sushi stop many times before and the quality of the food is always excellent and the price is so good too. In fact, it's cheaper for us to commute from Fife and eat at Sushi Stop than it is to eat at other sushi places. The staff are always friendly and cheerful. This is the nicest sushi we've ever had and we've had sushi in London, Prague and Venice. Do not go past sushi stop, you won't find any better sushi in the city. Soft, tender and perfectly formed nigiri and maki and the rolls are to die for. The presentation of the food is also beautiful. There's a lot of love and passion put into the creation of this food and it shows. The proof is in the maki as they say.

One of my all time favourite sushi shop in Edinburgh. The food is always fresh and delicious, there's a wide range of products but the staff is the heart of this parlour. They're always professional, welcoming, warm, friendly and ready to offering good service and advice. Well done!

I came with a group of friends, and it was the best decision ever now we don’t stop coming, the menu was so diverse staff were so polite and the Tonkotsu Ramen was just amazing I couldn’t recommend this place enough trust me you won’t regret coming here. I think sushi stop has become a part of me 10/10🙂

Great sushi spot, not only with a superior geographical location - inside the Waverley railway station, but also with a reasonable price. I ordered a piece of salmon nigiri and only cost me for 6 pounds. Good place with lovely sushi and kind staff!!

Good selection of fresh sushi - they make it for you whilst you wait. Lovely friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. My only complaint would be that the portions of seaweed salad are very small, you get barely a tablespoon!

Sushi is delicious! Dropped in yesterday while connecting between two trains. Didn’t have much time and was quite tired, but the girl that served me was both patient and helpful. Ended up with a delicious meal deal (which I scoffed on my next train). Will for sure be back!

Great quality, fantastic pricing and tasty! They were just a bit slow since there was only two of us in store and some of the food tasted like fast noodles for example like the Ramen. What more could you want for a quick bite in Edinburgh City Centre. Definitely worth a try!

Needed a quick bite as I was running late for a show so thought I'd pop in to Waverley Mall for a baked potato. Soooo glad it was closed as I cane across this absolute gem! My sushi arrived quickly, was very fresh and extremely tasty! Almost too pretty to eat!!! Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Best takoyaki I've had in glasgow, miso soup was lovely and they sell Ramune in green melon flavour, stop here for a fresh different dinner, cant reccomend it enough

There are delicious and beautiful suchi. But when I ordered them in December on my daughter's birthday, I payed more than I need. I don’t know if it’s an accident or a pattern, but due to an error in the check.

I got a box of salmon sushi, half of a salmon roll, 4 pieces of salmon maki, and two pieces of salmon nigiri all for £10, which is good value at £1 a piece. the fish was fresh and melts in the mouth, the rice was perfect too. highly reccomend this place as they also have a few vegetarian options if you aren’t into fish/seafood

First time eating here and though I don't eat out for sushi often I thought the dishes were a bit overpriced. BUT, our order was freshly prepared, didn't have to wait long (and they were busy) beautifully presented and the staff were really nice. Would come back again.

Loved loved this place! It’s a must visit if you are visiting Edinburgh! I have never tried out sushi before and this was my first try out session and it didn’t disappoint! The flavours were great and I didn’t taste the fishiness at all! Since I like a bit of spice in my food a bit more of a punch of chilly would have been greatly appreciated but that’s just a personal opinion! To summarise totally should visit and I would recommend it!

Just took my 12 year old here, she LOVED IT. I tried the salmon maki with a pumpkin croquet and the macha milk green tea, the bairn had cucumber maki, edamame and an appletiser drink. The 2 regular meal deals only cost me £14:86, a bargin. The bairn taught me how to use chopsticks but the packet they came in told me how to hold them so no worries if you've never used chopsticks before.

I don’t even know why people are eating the junk fast food when there’s this amazing authentic place right there! I definitely didn’t expect to find a place like this on a food court at a station ))) The prices are reasonable for this kind of food. The make it right there and very quickly. Yum!

Bought some Sweet Egg Nigiri and Cucumber Maki on a whim when passing. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and made fresh. My wife and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Will absolutely purchase from there again.

Had passed this location a few times but we finally had time to stop and try it out. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Our order ( one of the ramens and multiple portions of salmon nagiri) arrived to our table moments after we sat down. It was delicious the ramen was wonderful so rich in flavour yet not overpowering. As for the nagiri.... oh my god. Could not get enough of that went back for more more portions than im willing to admit. The rice was firm and held its shape well, even when faced with the absolute assault from my chopsticks. The salmon on top was fresh and light ,wrapped the top and sides of the rice in a generous portion. Sushi stop? I wish it wouldn't ! would happily of eaten all the nagiri they had and given how affordable it was I probably could have if I had more time. Get the feeling I'm going to be getting plenty of chopstick practice here.

Very friendly staff and very good sushi at such a good price. At waverley mall so quite handy for travellers who need a quick meal. AND they sell so much more than just sushi, last time I went we had ramen and teriyaki chicken rice box. Completely recommend this place!!

Love the sushi here. The standard of prep is both beautiful to look at and tastes gorgeous. I have been several times as I just love the food and like to perch on the wee bench at the window and people watch (aka: make uncomfortable eye contact with strangers as I stuff nigiri into my mouth like I haven’t eaten in weeks). My only negative is the customer service isn’t great, my personal big bear is bad customer service - and it’s not ‘bad’ just lacklustre. The staff are young and robotic so they ask all the right questions but you feel that they just want you out of there so they can relax as it’s an open sushi bar so no where to hide and dance to Mikey Cyrus (which is what I did when I worked in a cafe in my youth... so just drawing that comparison... I still do it in my kitchen but only to the disappointment of my children rather than customers). The food is great, really great and I do recommend this place heartily but could just do with a little bit of customer care training or make the staff love to work there 😊

It's a shame this place was quiet as it's the best food I've eaten in a shopping centre food hall by a mile. We shared four types of rolls, two sides and mochi (a sweet dumpling. Every mouthful was delicious and I'd urge anyone visiting the Waverley Mall for lunch to spend a bit more for quality.

The food was good, made fresh and brought to the table which is good from a fast food type restaurant. You can also change the dishes to remove or add certain things. The only downside was it took a while to come and was quite expensive for what it was.

Estaba esperando un tren cuando lo visité, pero tuve mucho tiempo, así que pensé que me sentaría a comer sushi, que me encanta. Yo era la única persona allí, pero tuve que pedir que me llevaran porque no podía esperar más. La chica era agradable, pero ella y el chico pasaron todo el tiempo charlando, lo que está bien, pero trabajando a ritmo de caracoles. El helado de mochi era agradable, pero el rollo de palitos de cangrejo era extraño, ya que el cangrejo estaba sentado en una pila encima del arroz, así que estaba por todo el lugar en lugar de enrollado en las algas.

El servicio se puede mejorar,pero la comida es muy buena y te lleva por un segundo a el país,tienen todo tipo de variedad,es algo caro pero se come bien,sobre todo si es de urgencia.

Popped in for lunch and was honestly pleasantly surprised, quick and friendly service and the food quality was top notch. The dumplings and maki were very tasty, the Golden Rolls were especially good. Will definitely be back for lunch in future.

Creo que hay varios por la ciudad, nosotros lo tomamos en la old town, un local muy acogedor sentados al lado de la ventana viendo a todo el mundo pasar, el sushi está muy rico y el precio está bien, tienen mucha variedad y para ser comida rápida nos gustó mucho.

One of these photos was taken from the sales board. One was the actual product. The staff argued that they were the same. I know which one I would prefer. At least I was offered a refund.

Lovely staff, visited for lunch a few times during my stay. Staff kindly checked allergen information for me as I have a severe milk protein and lactose allergy. All made fresh there in front of you and I dont mind waiting for food to be made there and then. A bit pricey but rather pay a little more for freshly prepped food than pre-boxed stuff.

Been here few times and always take away the avocado sushi for my partner and a seaweed salad. Love this place.

This is my second visit to this sushi restaurant and I loved everything about it . An amazing restaurant with yummy sushi food. We will be back again .

The fish was ok, but the rest of it was really bad. Rice was somehow a mixture of grains that were barely cooked and grains that were overcooked mush, and it was under-seasoned. The avocado in all the rolls was under-ripe (avocado shouldn't be the consistency of slimy apple, in case you were wondering) and they only serve pre-packaged pickled ginger and wasabi. Avoid this place, it's overpriced and also the worst sushi I've had in Edinburgh and I've sampled quite a few.

I got California roll and my daughter got salmon maki. The rice was not sushi rice, not bite size, it fell apart when I picked it up and the sauce on top was disgusting. Consequently I had a sore stomach after it

My sisters and I had sushi here on the 21st of September. Not only was it delicious, but the staff are an absolute credit to the store. The team working there were warm and friendly, with great knowledge of the food they were preparing and serving. I would absolutely recommend that others eat here. This is hands down the best sushi I have ever had, and would come back to Edinburgh to try it again. I'm cravin' the sush!
