really friendly staff! really good food!

Really great noodles, everything was so tasty. I recommend the steak ramen. Black garlic is also great though.

Went for lunch around 3pm and we were able to walk straight in and get a seat. I don't think they take reservations and normally people wait outside until they can be seated. Nice cosy interior and the food was amazing, we had the spicy chicken ramen and the black garlic pork ramen which were both delicious and filling. Brilliant spot for ramen!

We ordered some yakisoba noodles. Very good and many quantities. Super recommended!

We’ve been trying to get in touch with Maki & Ramen for weeks via email and social media to ask about the nutrition and fat content of their menu, but we’ve had no response. Strangely, they seem to have time to reply to reviews but not to answer a simple customer enquiry. It’s disappointing, as we were really looking forward to trying their food, but if they can’t even provide basic information that should be readily available, it doesn’t give much confidence in their customer service or how they value customers. We’ll try another Japanese restaurant instead, one that’s more accommodating and actually values its customers.

The food was incredible. I couldn't believe it how rich, creamy, and flavourful the vegan broths were. Absolutely delightful and filling😊 The servers were also lovely, and general service was quick.

It is a super cute store with great food and lovely people who work there especially the waiter was so kind 🥹

I asked for a Black Garlic ramen and they forgot to bring the meat which is one of the main ingredients. Noodles were not cooked enough and it was impossible to eat & the egg was overcooked. They replaced my ramen but I still had a stomach pain all night after eating there at lunch. It is a shame as the quality used to be much better but I won’t return.

I had the best noodles..it was huge plates and the two man inside were very polite. They asked us if we liked it ....I suggest it

The waitresses were very nice to us. Although, the food wasn't the best. Our ramen came with half an egg which was full boiled instead of creamy. Ok for a lunch

Amazing service and very nice staff amazing food

I’ve been a big fan of Maki & Ramen since 2022 and I’ve been so many times that it’s embarrassing. I’ve eaten at this location, the Fountain Bridge restaurant and the St James Quarter restaurant. This is the best restaurant of the three. The last time I went to a Maki & Ramen restaurant was around a year ago at the St James location. I was disappointed by the quality of the pork included in the hell ramen I ordered. I’d experienced a similar problem at the Fountain Bridge location 6 months prior. Returning to this Maki & Ramen restaurant yesterday was like rediscovering it for the first time. Very affordable, high quality food. I’d recommend the Hell ramen and the chicken gyoza.

This Maki and Ramen branch is very disappointing. The yakisoba noodles were hard and tasted no were as good as the ones from the Maki and Ramen on Renfield Street in Glasgow.

Ate here in 2019 and had to come back. Perfect dinner after some Whisky

The shop is small. The list in this particular does not have many options. The service is fast and so is the service. The dishes we got were ok for their price

Here I ate the best noodles of my life: handmade, with portions so generous that defining them as such is an understatement. The takoyaki are also a must try, simply delicious. The restaurant offers an authentic and high-level oriental cuisine experience. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommended

Maki & Ramen, Leith served the most delicious ramen and kaisou salad. Lots of flavour, umami and a friendly service given by front of house. Sitting at the bar, watching the chefs cooking gave a sense of Japanese culture and cuisine!

I got to this place every time I’m in Edinburgh and have not been disappointed yet. The staff is lovely, the menu has plenty of options for vegetarian/vegan folk, and it always tastes good. Definitely recommend :)

We had dinner on January 20th, we were served by 2 men and we had a very good time, so good that we decided to return the next day but this time we were served by 2 girls, a blonde and an Asian and we had a bad time, one was even taking away our plate with food still in it. It's no way to work, we felt uncomfortable... they worked as if they wanted us to leave as soon as possible, moreover the place also had many empty tables and it was 8.30pm, why all this desire to make us escape? However, I leave 4 stars because the ramen was excellent and for the courtesy of the 2 men who served us on Monday🙏

A success. Eating ramen in winter in Edinburgh is a success and you will surely enjoy it here. It has a limited variety: I appreciate this because you don't get lost when choosing. There is ramen in vegan and non-vegan varieties, finger food and curries. I ordered the black garlic tonkatsu and the soup tasted incredible: I recommend it. The attention from the staff was very good: very attentive and fast. They treated me to kimchi for a snack, which I was very grateful for. The place is original with the post-it notes on the walls. The price is affordable and reasonable for the quality of the product.

We were quite disappointed with the place. To begin with, the space between table and table is minimal, with no place to leave coats or other packages (we had to leave them on the floor). The starters were simple and the ramen left a lot to be desired: only half an egg (without seasoning), the pork was very burnt and very greasy, the pasta looked more like spaghetti than noodles and the flavor of the broth was very meh.

A very popular spot serving rich ramen and a selection of sides. The ramen was delicious, but lacked a little depth of flavor. However this did little the dent the experience, with a fantastic busy atmosphere and well priced.

Not sure how many times I've been here before, but I always come back here. Absolutely love their black garlic tonkotsu ramen! I have tried many ramen before (I'm a fan of ramen), this one is one of the best I've ever had. Hands down. Taste as good as in Japan too. Also the queue here isn't as long as the one in St James Quarter.

Amazing food and lively atmosphere. We ordered the hell ramen and steak tataki for main meals and both were absolutely delicious. Really flavorful broth. The pumpkin croquettes were also great.

Great Experience once again at another location of Maki & Ramen. Food as usual is awesome. Had chicken Katsu curry and my friend had Hell Ramen which felt like heaven. Brother Adrian has a PhD in customer satisfaction 😜

Busy restaurant. However, was seated fairly promptly, friendly waitresses. Food was tasty, had the tonkatsu ramen and the other one with kaarage chicken. Both very tasty and we would come back again when in Edinburgh

It was one of the best ramen I've eaten in my life! Service is quick, and the portion is big. We also took a takoyaki and roasted green tea, which was delicious. Highly recommend visiting this place if you're hungry and enjoy a big portion of good food. The only disadvantage is that there is no place for your winter coat, so you're forced to be creative to put it somehow on your chair without a back, lol.

Frankly, I've had much better ramen. Considering the price / performance, it is not a place I would choose again. The atmosphere is not bad, the service is good.

I have been going to Maki and Ramen for three years now. I have watched this particular branch cycle through many staff. I have brought so many people to try the absolutely delicious food and warm atmosphere that this place brings. It is devastating that they changed the Chocolate Mochi Ice-cream. It used to be a delicious chocolate ganache filling with the softest rice dough shell. Today I was served something that does not compare to the rest of the food offered from this franchise. Disappointing. (The staff are absolutely wonderful though.)

The asian waiter was so rude. Giving a grimace what we asked to split the bill. It was a business trip so we needed to expense our meal separately

The food is amazing. The staffs are so friendly and welcoming too. I didn’t know how to use the chopsticks and asked help to one of the staff and he didn’t even hesitate to help me out! Totally worth it.

Absolutely nailed my Ramen craving. Chicken Karage with mayo was perfection. Black garlic ramen was exactly how'd I'd expect it to be. Partner got the chicken ramen which was equally as good. Great and friendly service to match as well.

The food is good, except for a female waiter with golden hair who has a very bad attitude and lacks patience. She comes over before we finish our food and takes it away. In short, the service here is very friendly except for this female waiter who is very bad (I even think her attitude is not worthy of being a waiter)

We had Tonkotsu ramen, black garlic Tonkotsu ramen, beef ramen and the curry rice. Food was great! And the service is awesome. What’s better than a hot delicious soup in the middle of the winter!

The char siu is prepared as if it were just grilled bacon. Kimchi tastes like it’s mixed with red pepper paste.

I was skeptical at first! As I just came back from Japan and was deeply missing the food. So the moment I saw this Ramen house, I immediatley tried it. And the waiter is right! Its actually similar in taste.

Very very good! One of the best ramen I've ever tried! Super friendly and know a little bit of Spanish in case English isn't our thing!

This Ramen is phenomenal. Best I had in my life. Thank you. Edit in 2024: I think prices went up, service charge on top of that, portion got smaller, £15.95 for black garlic ramen? This is really good ramen but next time will pick different kitchen.

For lunch, he won out and we got raman at MakiRaman on Leith Street. Just look for ‘RAMAN RAMAN’ on the outside of the store and you will find it. He got the Steak Tataki and I got the Chicken Raman. He also got a side order of Gyoza. Orange Fanta for him and a Sapporo Premium for me. He said his raman was the best he had since leaving South Korea. Great little spot for a rest and recharge after running around Calton Hill. In for some raman or curry, drop by here.
