The food is brutal and the quantities are very generous, a great option if you like ramen, want to eat something hot and leave very satisfied.

BLACK GARLIC TONKOTSU is very rich and delicious❤️ The portion is quite sufficient and the price is reasonable at 14.5 pounds~

I am eating in Maki & Ramen since 2021 The food is very good. But today I had my dinner in Maki & Ramen leith Street and I order my always favourites Steak Ramen, I had this Ramen so many times and always get 5 pieces of steak however today I only got 4 pieces. When I complained the staff gave a cheeky laugh as if I am lying and never even apologise or try to solve the problem. I am very disappointed today.

I took veggie gyozas, tonkotsu ramen then matcha crème brûlée. All the dishes were delicious, I recommend this place. Special emphasis on the Gyoza. The skin is super thin, cooking level is perfect. I have rarely tastes such fine Gyoza even in Asia.

Delicious food and lovely staff. Went for a solo meal and got a lovely seat at the counter so could watch them cook. Black garlic ramen, kaiso salad and chicken karaage were great. Very close to the station so recommend as a meal on your way in or out of Edinburgh!

The place is small, but the food is delicious, and the best thing about it is that when you open the menu, halal meals are written next to them as halal. I wish they could apply them everywhere. This movement is comfortable and very relaxing 👌🏼..

Had the Tonkotsu ramen and chicken karaage, and both were excellent! The ramen broth was rich and flavorful, with tender pork belly and perfectly cooked noodles. The karaage was crispy, juicy, and sooo delicious. Great portions and overall a delicious meal—I highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious ramen. Also I cannot get enough of the chicken gyoza. The Dipping sauce! My fav! Went 2 nights, the steak tataki was my very favorite, but no bad food was had.

The takoyaki were very tasty. The Tonkutsu Ramen was good, but the Chicken Ramen unfortunately lacked a bit of spice.

The black garlic noodle was not tasty and too greasy. It didn’t have the umami flavor of Japanese ramen. Maybe it wasn’t to my taste. I also ordered chicken. The chicken tasted almost like Korean honey fried chicken and was too mixed. If you want ramen, don’t come to this restaurant! Not delicious! Not delicious! Not delicious!

On a rainy autumn day in October after a long walk - this was just what my solo-traveller heart desired. The food is excellent, I am vegan myself, and I was very satisfied with their Ramen. The store is jam-packed with tables and during rush-hour it gets quite packed in there. If you want excellent Ramen and dont care much about a laid-back athmosphere, this is the place for you!

Great ramen and sides Came here for lunch a few weeks ago as wifey had been eyeing this place up for a while and had heard good things - they didn't disappoint! We both had bone broth ramen. I had the super saiyan mega insanity spicy (or whatever it was called...) ramen. Which, to be honest, were just a bit spicy. Very tasty though. Having tried a lot of these types of bone broth ramen this place was not much different to others, but definitely up to standard, 8/10. We also ordered a couple sides: Seaweed salad, another classic, prepared in the standard way, nice and refreshing, 7/10 Calamari, the meat was lovely and buttery. Dipping sauce was a bit meh. 7/10 Overall nice place for a quick lunch, don't bring heaps of shopping bags with you, space is pretty limited.

If you need a break from toasted sandwiches, sausage, haggis, etc. this ramen joint is a great option! Small space but well managed and tasty food

best service! i didn't know that the chicken gyoza was not halal. They made sure of it by letting me know that info and let me change it to veggie gyoza. a very halal-friendly ramen shop!

It was a wonderful experience,the ramen was delicious and the broth was hot and comforting. Enjoyed our meal. It was good to know the chicken and beef were halaal ,so I enjoyed the food. It was conveniently located,just a little bit of waiting time.

Fun spot, we had to wait outside for a few minutes for a table to open up, but definitely worth it! Great food that warmed you up, and good service.

We have eaten Ramen all over the world including Asian countries. This is one of the top bowls for spicy ramen. Atmosphere is great, service is great, and the food is delicious. Definitely stop in if you are here and love ramen.

Can't be a better dinner on a foggy coldish evening at Edinburgh. This was a delightful ramen place with great service and amazing quality food. We ordered Seafood hell ramen which tasted excellent as well as yakisoba with chashu which was also delicious.

There are several vegan Ramen options. They are large and tasty portions, a little spicy for those who are not used to them. Excellent attention, very friendly. They ask about food allergies from the beginning. Which makes you eat with peace of mind. I came at 4:00 p.m., a little late which was better because I could choose my table.

The Ramen was so delicious and the staff was really nice and friendly. The restaurant is super cute. The walls are plastered in poste-it notes of previous guest who left messages and greetings from different places all over the world.

The manager, Adrian serves his customers wholeheartedly and didn't feel any troubles at all, especially we were with kids. He's just amazing! Not to mention the foods are tasty and delicious! Definitely will try again next time!

Over the last few days I've had chicken ramen and katsu chicken curry there, along with miso soup and green tea. All excellent. No wonder it's always so busy!

There is a queue out front but the tables turn around quite quickly thanks to the extremely efficient service. The dishes are really excellent and the atmosphere is nice with a view of the kitchen.

There is always a queue outside during opening hours, but the table turnover rate is very high. The clerk will quickly help arrange seats, and the wait is less than ten minutes. The clerk was very kind. When delivering water, I asked if I wanted to pay for it. He said don't worry! The pork bone soup ramen with barbecued pork is very thick, and the meat slices are large and fat. People who are afraid of fatty meat will be a little afraid of eating it, but for travelers who are on a very tight budget, this bowl can fill them up for a long time. There is a page on the menu dedicated to vegetarian food, with five or six choices. I heard the foreigners next to me say they were very satisfied. A large bowl costs about NT$647 (£13.9). When checking out, the clerk brings the bill on a small plate and asks if there is a 10% service charge. Just checked out, I feel very good and polite, the price is reasonable and economical!

The Leith Branch is worst place to go. The staffs are racism and discriminated to Asian people but nicely to tourist or local who are pure white. They are very rude and arrogant. I went to Manchester branch few times with my partner who is an English. They were so nice, not sure if they are actually nice or just because I have a white partner, but I travelled to Edinburgh to have a lunch with my siblings in Leith branch. Their waiter called Ya’ad something like that was racism and aggressive to me. If you are anti-Racism you should be aware the staffs in there are racism.

Second day in Edinburg, second time I went to Maki & Ramen. Great food and great service.

The worst staff than other places Honestly the Asian guy was very rude and disrespectful. Pls go learn some manners and go educate yourself. I had several great times at the Manchester branch but not in Edinburgh Leith branch. I came restaurant for lunch, not for your waiter to talk rubbish to me. There were two ladies in front of us and asked the exactly same questions and been seated by your waiter nicely, but he had an entirely different service attitude to me even I just wanted to check how long it will take for 2 people in the que, if it will take a little bit longer than I can go other branches instead. He started to educate me as a waiter ( customer service) Really?? I do hope this isn't racist or discriminatory from your team. If it is, then you should send him to Manchester branch and have some better customer service training.

This was my 3rd visit to Maki & Ramen. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and while it’s busy, it’s also a wonderful place to chat and catch up with a friend! The ramen was excellent once more, very much like the rich delicious broth I have tried in Japan! Well done! I’ll keep coming back and recommending you!!!

A waiter his name was Ya'ad, who looked like a tall overweight Asian man , was very rude to us . He shouted at us as if we were his employees!! and he is our boss !! , even though if he was the owner of the restaurant he should not deal with us in this bumptious character , and he should show respect and behave good , and in fact we were customers who had come to enjoy the good food. But his shouting at us in an inappropriate way ruined our moment . Period .

Great taste overall but maybe a bit overly seasoned like American Japanese fuse, i would like less salt and oil. Fried chicken mayo amazing.

The Black Garlic Tonkotsu might be the best ramen I've ever had in my life. Gyoza was phenomenal and edamame perfectly cooked. Bravo.

The sashimi is not too fresh and tastes like it has been thawed. I have eaten from other restaurants before and it should not be like this. The noodles are very salty and feel greasy after eating. The sushi was okay, but the sauce was a bit lacking.

A really lovely and filling meal - the portions are massive! Chicken yakisoba was lovely and savoury, chicken ramen was nice and hot with good kick of spice. Service staff were friendly and catered to our needs. Only downsides were the seating areas are small/close together and also we asked for a salad and they forgot about this, BUT the mains we ordered were so delicious and filling that we decided we probably wouldn’t have eaten the salad anyway!

Amazing, Tasty and delicious Ramen!! Worth the value and taste.

I had the hell ramen. I’d recommend not having it. Though very spicey I think it really takes away from the flavours of the ramen so you don’t want to eat through the heat to enjoy the food. Staff were nice. Gyoza were tasty, as was the spicey chicken and prawn tempura.

Black Garlic Pork Ramen The soup base is light, the noodles are moderately soft and hard, the pork meat tastes good, and the soy sauce eggs are very delicious!

This is the best Ramen bowl I’ve ever had. I travelled to Edinburgh in May. I randomly found this place and I am glad I found it. I ordered a spicy vegetarian ramen bowl and it was 10/10. Their service was excellent. My server was a young lady who was very friendly and helped me with the order. :)

The ramen here is so flavorful. I got the steak ramen (not the spicy one). It had a nice kick but not too spicy. It was savory and the meat was perfectly cooked. The veggie gyoza and the tangy yet sweet sauce were amazing. I highly recommend this place. The service is fast, friendly, and the place is clean and the decor is relaxing. It gets very busy though and it’s small. So try to go at an off-time.

As a local, this place is one of my go to places to eat. It’s authentic, the food is simply superb (literally) and the staff are outstanding (so welcoming and helpful). Only slight thing to consider is that - because it’s an old building - the place can be a bit cold next to the walls in winter. Best spot for ramen in town that I’ve been to.

Ramen tastes like salt and lacks rich flavours. Quite pricey and not very filling.

I ordered and ate tonkotsu ramen, and the food was very tasty and the staff were all very friendly, so it was great!! Next time I come to Edinburgh, I think I'll stop by here again.

Wow, been looking for a good ramen place for a while & I've finally found it. Staff are really friendly & the food is amazing. I don't stay in Edinburgh, but because I had to go there 2 days back to back, I had lunch here both days. Happily go back again
