Very nice place to eat. The food was very tasty and the portions were very large. You have the option to take the rest with you. The staff was also very approachable and friendly. It's the second time I come here and I would definitely return again! Recommended! 🍜

Here I ate the best noodles of my life: handmade, with portions so generous that defining them as such is an understatement. The takoyaki are also a must try, simply delicious. The restaurant offers an authentic and high-level oriental cuisine experience. The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere welcoming. Highly recommended

I got to this place every time I’m in Edinburgh and have not been disappointed yet. The staff is lovely, the menu has plenty of options for vegetarian/vegan folk, and it always tastes good. Definitely recommend :)

Maki & Ramen, Leith served the most delicious ramen and kaisou salad. Lots of flavour, umami and a friendly service given by front of house. Sitting at the bar, watching the chefs cooking gave a sense of Japanese culture and cuisine!

The food was good and the female server with glasses was very nice and explained everything to us! 💕

We had dinner on January 20th, we were served by 2 men and we had a very good time, so good that we decided to return the next day but this time we were served by 2 girls, a blonde and an Asian and we had a bad time, one was even taking away our plate with food still in it. It's no way to work, we felt uncomfortable... they worked as if they wanted us to leave as soon as possible, moreover the place also had many empty tables and it was 8.30pm, why all this desire to make us escape? However, I leave 4 stars because the ramen was excellent and for the courtesy of the 2 men who served us on Monday🙏

A success. Eating ramen in winter in Edinburgh is a success and you will surely enjoy it here. It has a limited variety: I appreciate this because you don't get lost when choosing. There is ramen in vegan and non-vegan varieties, finger food and curries. I ordered the black garlic tonkatsu and the soup tasted incredible: I recommend it. The attention from the staff was very good: very attentive and fast. They treated me to kimchi for a snack, which I was very grateful for. The place is original with the post-it notes on the walls. The price is affordable and reasonable for the quality of the product.

We were quite disappointed with the place. To begin with, the space between table and table is minimal, with no place to leave coats or other packages (we had to leave them on the floor). The starters were simple and the ramen left a lot to be desired: only half an egg (without seasoning), the pork was very burnt and very greasy, the pasta looked more like spaghetti than noodles and the flavor of the broth was very meh.

A very popular spot serving rich ramen and a selection of sides. The ramen was delicious, but lacked a little depth of flavor. However this did little the dent the experience, with a fantastic busy atmosphere and well priced.

Not sure how many times I've been here before, but I always come back here. Absolutely love their black garlic tonkotsu ramen! I have tried many ramen before (I'm a fan of ramen), this one is one of the best I've ever had. Hands down. Taste as good as in Japan too. Also the queue here isn't as long as the one in St James Quarter.

Frankly, I've had much better ramen. Considering the price / performance, it is not a place I would choose again. The atmosphere is not bad, the service is good.

It was one of the best ramen I've eaten in my life! Service is quick, and the portion is big. We also took a takoyaki and roasted green tea, which was delicious. Highly recommend visiting this place if you're hungry and enjoy a big portion of good food. The only disadvantage is that there is no place for your winter coat, so you're forced to be creative to put it somehow on your chair without a back, lol.

I have been going to Maki and Ramen for three years now. I have watched this particular branch cycle through many staff. I have brought so many people to try the absolutely delicious food and warm atmosphere that this place brings. It is devastating that they changed the Chocolate Mochi Ice-cream. It used to be a delicious chocolate ganache filling with the softest rice dough shell. Today I was served something that does not compare to the rest of the food offered from this franchise. Disappointing. (The staff are absolutely wonderful though.)

The asian waiter was so rude. Giving a grimace what we asked to split the bill. It was a business trip so we needed to expense our meal separately

The food is amazing. The staffs are so friendly and welcoming too. I didn’t know how to use the chopsticks and asked help to one of the staff and he didn’t even hesitate to help me out! Totally worth it.

Absolutely nailed my Ramen craving. Chicken Karage with mayo was perfection. Black garlic ramen was exactly how'd I'd expect it to be. Partner got the chicken ramen which was equally as good. Great and friendly service to match as well.

The food is good, except for a female waiter with golden hair who has a very bad attitude and lacks patience. She comes over before we finish our food and takes it away. In short, the service here is very friendly except for this female waiter who is very bad (I even think her attitude is not worthy of being a waiter)

We had Tonkotsu ramen, black garlic Tonkotsu ramen, beef ramen and the curry rice. Food was great! And the service is awesome. What’s better than a hot delicious soup in the middle of the winter!

The char siu is prepared as if it were just grilled bacon. Kimchi tastes like it’s mixed with red pepper paste.

I was skeptical at first! As I just came back from Japan and was deeply missing the food. So the moment I saw this Ramen house, I immediatley tried it. And the waiter is right! Its actually similar in taste.

Lovely meal at Maki & Ramen, felt authentic and cosy

For lunch, he won out and we got raman at MakiRaman on Leith Street. Just look for ‘RAMAN RAMAN’ on the outside of the store and you will find it. He got the Steak Tataki and I got the Chicken Raman. He also got a side order of Gyoza. Orange Fanta for him and a Sapporo Premium for me. He said his raman was the best he had since leaving South Korea. Great little spot for a rest and recharge after running around Calton Hill. In for some raman or curry, drop by here.

I am eating in Maki & Ramen since 2021 The food is very good. But today I had my dinner in Maki & Ramen leith Street and I order my always favourites Steak Ramen, I had this Ramen so many times and always get 5 pieces of steak however today I only got 4 pieces. When I complained the staff gave a cheeky laugh as if I am lying and never even apologise or try to solve the problem. I am very disappointed today.

I took veggie gyozas, tonkotsu ramen then matcha crème brûlée. All the dishes were delicious, I recommend this place. Special emphasis on the Gyoza. The skin is super thin, cooking level is perfect. I have rarely tastes such fine Gyoza even in Asia.

Really good ramen. Big portions in a nice setting. There was usually a que outside, but it's worth waiting because the food is delicious. The mochi dessert was also nice for something different so I'd recommend that as well.

Delicious food and lovely staff. Went for a solo meal and got a lovely seat at the counter so could watch them cook. Black garlic ramen, kaiso salad and chicken karaage were great. Very close to the station so recommend as a meal on your way in or out of Edinburgh!

The place is small, but the food is delicious, and the best thing about it is that when you open the menu, halal meals are written next to them as halal. I wish they could apply them everywhere. This movement is comfortable and very relaxing 👌🏼..

Had the Tonkotsu ramen and chicken karaage, and both were excellent! The ramen broth was rich and flavorful, with tender pork belly and perfectly cooked noodles. The karaage was crispy, juicy, and sooo delicious. Great portions and overall a delicious meal—I highly recommend!

Absolutely delicious ramen. Also I cannot get enough of the chicken gyoza. The Dipping sauce! My fav! Went 2 nights, the steak tataki was my very favorite, but no bad food was had.

The black garlic noodle was not tasty and too greasy. It didn’t have the umami flavor of Japanese ramen. Maybe it wasn’t to my taste. I also ordered chicken. The chicken tasted almost like Korean honey fried chicken and was too mixed. If you want ramen, don’t come to this restaurant! Not delicious! Not delicious! Not delicious!
