The customer service from Hisha was one of the best I’ve ever received. She goes the extra mile to help us, even with my phone out of battery, and made a lovely butterfly for my little child. She was really patient when I was deciding for the meals and made really good recommendations and even helped me customised the meals accordingly to my diet. The foods were really good especially the black garlic ramen. The noodle has very good chewy texture and very beautifully decorated as well!

A restaurant I entered on impulse. Rice bowl serves 2.5 people. For some reason, they sell kimchi salad, and it tastes like pickled cabbage seasoned with bibim noodle sauce. It would be nice to reduce the amount of rice and improve the quality of pork cutlet and internal cleanliness. The serving staff are friendly.

Overall, it’s a good place with good ramen but for some reason, I didn’t feel like it was a great value. I think the place still lacks something in both the food and atmosphere to bring some memorable impression. I’m also not a big fan of “tips” included in the bill automatically in addition to the menu prices. If you want to include an extra service fee that’s obligatory, just include it in the menu price of each item. If it’s a tip, leave it as optional.

We recently discovered this Japanese restaurant and had a great time. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff. We opted for ramen, and we were not disappointed! The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth, rich and flavorful, was a real delight. The toppings were generous and well chosen, bringing a beautiful harmony of flavors. The ambiance of the place was pleasant and authentic, creating a true Japanese experience. In short, a very good time, whether for the quality of the cuisine or the warm welcome. We will come back without hesitation!

Fantastic food at a great price. The pork gyoza were crispy and filled with a great spicy filling. The fiery pork ramen had an amazingly spiced broth with very well cooked rolled pork belly. The charred scotch bonnet chilli was a great touch.

very sad with my experience here. i love places like this and go to them often, but was thoroughly dissatisfied today. the salmon avocado roll was good, the gyoza with a "side salad" (cabbage and carrots) was good. masumi sake was okay. there were two other tables filled upon entry, we waited ten minutes to be seated. only one server on duty and the cooks were looking at us through the kitchen door window as if hoping we would leave. when seated, it took a short amount of time to get our orders in and food came quickly other than the ramen. server had to ask if we only had one or two ramens (there were two of us and we ordered two separate ramens) my girlfriend ordered the Hell ramen while I ordered the Regular, both of a chicken category. I love spice and so does she, we were expecting something that would make our eyes water a bit as Asian spices usually do. however, when it came out, my ramen tasted like tonkatsu and hers tasted like a severely diluted shin ramyun. the runny eggs were cold and the bamboo shoots were oddly sweet. the chicken was like overly fried chicken nuggets and also oddly sweet as well as chewy. the cook brought us our ramen and said "if you need it more spicy then please call us" we pressed the call button at least six times while our ramen went cold and the noodles soaked up too much broth to be a good texture. when the server finally came over after we pressed the "pay" button rather than the "call" button, i tried to voice my concerns which i never do. i said to her "yeah, we tried to call for this to be taken back and more spice added but now it's cold so we would just like to pay" she opened up the old, almost empty cup of chili oil sitting next to us and said "yeah we have this, it makes it spicier". i know what chili oil is, and i dont like it. we wanted our broth to be spicy, not filled with chili flakes and semi-spicy oil to be dumped into it. she offered no help even after our explanation of what the cook said and instead flipped over the pay machine to show us our bill. maybe i should have been more vocal but this is the first time in my life ive tried to ask for a change in a meal from what i (thought) i ordered and was disappointed. last point, during our several "call" button presses, she has taken the orders of and served three other tables in who had either been there or came in during our visit. overall not happy and shocked that i had to pay full price for food that we didn't even eat. i would never come back here.

Was super excited to try this place for lunch whilst in Edinburgh with my girlfriend after seeing good reviews. We arrived at around 13:40 and stood waiting to be spoken to and seated until approx 13:50. The menu looked promising, with photos of the food and a tempting lunch menu. We decided on the salmon and avocado roll and chicken gyoza for our starters. I’m not normally a huge fan of sushi but the avocado salmon roll was really good. The chicken gyoza was hot, fresh and tasty. So far, so good - despite the slow service. For our mains, my girlfriend ordered a regular spiced chicken ramen, and I ordered the hell spiced chicken ramen (I like the spice!). We anticipated a tasty hot bowl of ramen after a cold morning of -1 degrees celcius walking around Edinburgh. However upon receiving our food, we were extremely disappointed to be served a lukewarm dish which at first looked delicious, but tasted like the water that an artist might dip their paintbrush in. When the chef brought our food to us, he said “if the spice is not enough, let the server know and we can fix it”. After pressing the service call button upwards of 5 times over the span of 20-25 minutes, and watching the ONE waitress serve at least 3 tables more than once EACH, we were left with cold ramen and hungry bellies before finally being tended to. I’d have understood this service if it was a super busy weekend or holiday, however this was around 2pm on a Friday afternoon and there were approx. 6 tables of guests at the time we went, AND we were there for the longest time except from one table who was seen to multiple times before we were . When the server finally approached our table, she came with the card machine in hand, ready to take our payment. We both had full bowls of ramen with only a few bites missing, and my girlfriend politely explained that we were hoping to get more spice added to our dishes, however they were now cold and we had waited so long for simple service that we would just like to pay the bill and leave. The servers response to this was “there is chilli oil on your table for more spice” (obviously not the same as having a warming broth with your ramen). We were not offered a fresh dish, or even for more spice to be added to our current dishes as mentioned by the chef. No apology, no discount offered for the poor service and poor dish, so we just paid and left. Very disappointing main meal, which is such a shame because the decor is beautiful and traditional and the sushi and gyoza were fantastic. Would definitely recommend that this place should have more serving staff, and to rename the ramen “Hell” spice to “tepid”.

This is actually my third time ordering their delivery. Their prices are high and the qualities are just on the average. Average packaging and average flavours… but Yokisoba is kind of their signature dish? I don’t remember other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh offer this. I recommend their yokisoba a little bit (just because I don’t remember other Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh offer this) and you can just find any of the rest with similar prices and the same flavours at any other Japanese restaurants in Edinburgh. Even the Yokisoba is….i guess the sourness of the noodles indicates it’s pre-made with preservatives; go taste and you will know

It was a really lovely restaurant and the waitress was quick to take our orders when called, our only issue we had was that our food didn't come out in a typical restaurant fashion. Worst food experience we had in the UK and worst Japanese restaurant I've been to. Service was incompetent and our drink order was taken incorrectly and a beer was missing right off the bat. We ordered two servings of Gyoza, one of them had 5 pieces of Gyoza, the other had 4. We asked what that was about, the answer was that sometimes it is like that. What explanation is that? They offered to bring us the missing one, then never did. Menu clearly stated 5 pieces by the way. The Karaage was served to us as 'Chicken Popcorn' and tasted like it was fried in very old oil and the pieces were tiny. Any chippy in the UK does better. The ramen broths were flavorless and tasted heavily like seaweed and nothing else. Point of reference: I've lived and studied in Fukuoka for a year, which is the birthplace of Tonkotsu ramen. What was served here was an insult to the dish. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague, I wouldn't want anyone to get a bad impression of Japanese food by subjecting themselves to this.

It’s a very cozy and well decorated Japanese restaurant just a few minutes walk from the National Museum of Scotland. We chose this restaurant since it seemed to have good reviews. We came by right when they opened at noon. We got seated promptly. They have a big menu with variety of selections. We ordered a kid meal for my son. It came with 6-8 pieces of chicken karaage, small portion of chips (fries) and choice of apple/orange juice. For the price under 6 GBP, it was a very good deal. We got Softshell crab futo maki, spicy tuna, spicy salmon rolls and tonkotsu ramen to share between 2 of us. For ramen, the broth was creamy and tasty, the meat was tender, but the egg was basically a hard boiled egg. It seemed like every ramen restaurant in the UK that we’ve been to using this type of egg, not the traditional ajitama. We were very disappointed at the sushi rolls. The rice wasn’t well seasoned with vinegar, or maybe they just used plain rice. Both tuna and salmon wasn’t fresh at all…I wouldn’t recommend the sushi here. However, I was very happy with the service here. My waitress was very friendly and attentive.

We had dinner here a week ago. It was busy but we got our chef’s choice order pretty quickly. The sashimi was pretty good together with the maki e futomaki. I would definitely had dinner here again

The food is terrible without any taste!I ordered Katsu don,it is an easy and traditional dish of Japanese cuisine, but they unexpectedly put cabbage and carrot in it! Do not try this restaurant, trust me.

The ramen and hot pot were great but I would advise to watch the spice levels, sushi was amazing. Two mains and drinks with a side of sushi was more than enough for two people and was £50, would recommend :)

Really wanted to like this place. But was very disappointed. When we arrived we were shown to a seat facing a wall. Not a great start. We then did not see anyone for 20 minutes. Nobody came and took a drink order or spoke to us. The place was not busy and we watch the staff clean tables instead of serve us. We left after 20 minutes without getting any food or drink or even being spoken to. Not the best Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh.

Absolutely delicious. The ramen and the katsu curry were especially brilliant. The restaurant interior is also very cute and makes for a nice dining experience. I wish I lived closer and could come back here regularly!

Worst takoyaki I have ever had in Edinburgh, and the rest of the food was okay. Pretty bad service. Maybe the waitress was new (I hope this is the reason why), but she barely had any clue about anything.

I highly recommend the branch in EH3 9QG instead. The taste is completely different. At this location, the takoyaki batter is too runny and the outer layer isn’t crispy, the ramen broth lacks flavor, and the fried chicken doesn’t seem fresh. I’m not sure why there’s such a big difference between branches of the same brand.

Been many times, always excellent. Mostly made to order, it's always very fresh with genuine japanese taste. Love the Ramen option too.

Tasty food but absolutely shocking experience with the delivery driver. I had received a call from Uber saying that the driver had arrived (it was external so there was no driver tracking) and I stood and pressed the buzzer for a good 5 minutes but no one came up. I contacted Uber to see who I could call to find out and as I was in the process of this, someone aggressively banged on the door of my flat (at 10pm). As I opened the door, the delivery driver proceeded to shout at me saying they had been trying to deliver for 45 minutes. When I said I hadn’t received this contact and I could show proof of this, he said no and spoke to me aggressively, calling me stupid. Regardless of the situation, it is absolutely unacceptable to treat someone like this. I have previously worked in hospitality myself and speaking to a customer like this would cost you your job. I rang the restaurant to report this and they were very apologetic and helpful. Food is tasty and good quality but this has completely ruined the entire experience.

Very nice place to eat. The food was very tasty and the portions were very large. You have the option to take the rest with you. The staff was also very approachable and friendly. It's the second time I come here and I would definitely return again! Recommended! 🍜
