Super delivery! Very pleasant experience

Went for lunch with my 4 year old. Lovely friendly staff, delicious food. I had tempura prawns with noodles and it was delicious. My son really enjoyed the miso soup and tempura prawns too. I plan to come back many times!

We ordered some sushi via just eat - absolutely delicious. Our order was prepared quickly, food fresh and tasty.

WOW, as an English tourist no one warns you about everying around here being deep DEEP fried. Made us sluggish the next morning, But Koyama was the biggest breath of culinary fresh air. Quiet on a Sunday night but amazing food and service.

Best sushi I've ever had in Edinburgh so far!

The delivery guy was rude and unprofessional he wasn’t bothered what state the food was in and refused to take responsibility for his delivery to me

Had lunch at noon in the summer, ordered ramen and sushi, both tasted good, people who want to eat oriental cuisine in Edinburgh can try it. The food is not served very quickly, but you can enjoy it leisurely in this city.

I ordered a few rolls, and they were good. I ordered another roll, waited 45 minutes, rang the bell to see if I had more food coming. The waitress seemed brain dead. I don't know if my food will come or not.

I ordered a spicy ramen. The waitress at first politely income it was very spicy. I said that was great. I know spicy, I have been to Singapore. However no matter how many times I told her I knew what I wanted, she insisted it was very hot, implying that I didn't know what I was doing. In the end it was embarrassing and we just left, went around the corner, ordered extra spicy soup and enjoyed ourselves.

Food was nice but not the best Japanese food ive had in scotland service was good for it being during the fringe but the call service kinda bugged me ect I asked for the chips on the starter which where like loaded fries with seaweed ect on it and just got giving fries also ordered saracha mayo which never came ect

Visited Koyama because it had good reviews. Took 30 minutes just to order. Staff never said they were busy and they would have to wait that long. Another 20 minutes waiting for the food. Starters were alright, but chicken teriyaki was dry, salad on the side tiny, and just lots of rice. Food was dry and not very tasty. We had to ask for the drink twice because they never brought it when they served food. Staff never asked if we liked the food but they changed table service in the bill. Really disappointed, just okay food and staff wasn't great. Not coming back.

Ordered through Justeat, bento box was a mess and smelled like the inside of a bin. Ordered tuna sashimi, was sent tuna maki. Restaurant closed so no contact. Would not recommend.

Number one feature is the service button on each table, allowing you to summon payment at the end of your meal. Other restaurants should take note, supremely improved the experience not playing cat and mouse for 45 minutes waiting for the card machine. Menu took a bit of deciphering and the service staff didn't seem to coordinate well with each others, but the food was lovely (including a nice and unique vegetarian katsu) and would happily come again.

Ate there 3 nights in a row for dinner and all three nights were great! It was delicious! I loved everything we got, the sushi, gyoza, ramen, and bento box were all so good and delicious! The food was very filling and you get a good amount! The interior was nice, the vibes were great and the staff and service was great!

Worst food experience we had in the UK and worst Japanese restaurant I've been to. Service was incompetent and our drink order was taken incorrectly and a beer was missing right off the bat. We ordered two servings of Gyoza, one of them had 5 pieces of Gyoza, the other had 4. We asked what that was about, the answer was that sometimes it is like that. What explanation is that? They offered to bring us the missing one, then never did. Menu clearly stated 5 pieces by the way. The Karaage was served to us as 'Chicken Popcorn' and tasted like it was fried in very old oil and the pieces were tiny. Any chippy in the UK does better. The ramen broths were flavorless and tasted heavily like seaweed and nothing else. Point of reference: I've lived and studied in Fukuoka for a year, which is the birthplace of Tonkotsu ramen. What was served here was an insult to the dish. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague, I wouldn't want anyone to get a bad impression of Japanese food by subjecting themselves to this.

Only thing that made it 2 stars were the two lovely staff members that attended to us (not counting the dark-haired woman who I assume is the manager, or god forbid the chef). Sushi was nice. That’s all there is to say. Expensive for what it was - the rolls began falling apart upon picking it up which implies they were poorly wrapped but other than that, fine. The first ramen I chose was sold out, so I chose my second option which was the fiery tonkotsu ramen. My partner chose the karaage teriyaki chicken. See picture below for the shocking mash-up of Japanese cuisine, with a side of Korean kimchi and British side salad. My ramen was a hot bowl of tasteless spice. Quite frankly the worst ramen I’ve had out, and I’ve eaten ramen in shopping malls. Debated complaining as I really hate to make a fuss but for £15 I decided it wasn’t acceptable. Politely told one of the lovely gentlemen that it was really not nice and he grabbed who I assumed was the manager. She was far less polite, rather sharp, short and dismissive. She asked “what do you want to do” to which I replied order something else. She took my order and I settled with another bland but definitely more edible bowl of garlic ramen. I left most of it. Do not come here unless you have an uncultured palate for Asian cuisine. For a total of £60 (with one tap water), go elsewhere.

I ordered ramen and sushi, and the ramen was pretty good, but it took a long time for the sushi to come out. They didn't even put wasabi in it, so I don't know why it took so long;; And the table wasn't cleaned properly, so it was very sticky and dirty.

We were pretty disappointed, based on the reviews and recommendations. My partner ordered the Tempura Vegetable Katsudon and a green tea. I got Teppenyaki Soba and a beer. My beer was a warm bottle, and her miso soup was cold. Her meal came out as a handful of cooked vegetables on top of some eggy rice with a lot of liquid. After having a bit she found a fairly sizeable chunk of eggshell in there. We pointed it out to the staff and they took it away, and she ordered Teriyaki Chicken Donburi. My noodles were fine, but very salty. Overall it was pretty disappointing throughout :(

Very poor, we ordered 2 mains and one starter. They forgot the starter and brought it after the mains but only when we queried it! The mains were missing half the advertised ingredients basically was chicken and rice and they didn’t give us our miso soup with them. They refused to take the service charge off, and didn’t seem to really care about customer service. Very disappointed in the food and service. Don’t waste your money.

Food was all right. The eel don has only one eel fillet and is mostly rice. Pricey for what they serve. I asked for a student discount and was told there was one, proceeded to not add it to the receipt. I assume they wanted me to say I was a student and ask for the discount?

Delicious food and helpful staff.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We ordered two types of Ramen, bibimbap, and sukiyaki. Each dish got high marks. Glad we stopped in for lunch. We would definitely eat here again.

Truly delicious food. We tried the salmon and tuna sashimi (melt in the mouth), chicken ramen and miso ramen. Plus a little side salad of fried tofu with avocado and yummy lime dressing. All of which was reasonably priced. Can highly recommend and will return to try the rest of the menu.

Bad food bad service, 13 pounds for a tiny portion of cheap chicken and a spoon of white rice, nothing special. Server was not happy to seat us.

Funny to say maybe, but the sushi tasted ro much fish. In my case tuna.

Best Tonkatsu Ramen I have tried!

Went to the restaurant on Friday. It was my first time there and was really confuse about the menu but the waitress Saakshi who serve me gave me the great advice. I tried the green dragon and a hotpot. I will surely return back.

It is a yes from me ! Love the food . . And found bit moody worker there. Seems she was in her periode, no smile, the way she looked at the costumer seems suspicious. Other than that !! I would love to come back. 💪🏽

It’s a very cozy and well decorated Japanese restaurant just a few minutes walk from the National Museum of Scotland. We chose this restaurant since it seemed to have good reviews. We came by right when they opened at noon. We got seated promptly. They have a big menu with variety of selections.We ordered a kid meal for my son. It came with 6-8 pieces of chicken karaage, small portion of chips (fries) and choice of apple/orange juice. For the price under 6 GBP, it was a very good deal. We got Softshell crab futo maki, spicy tuna, spicy salmon rolls and tonkotsu ramen to share between 2 of us. For ramen, the broth was creamy and tasty, the meat was tender, but the egg was basically a hard boiled egg. It seemed like every ramen restaurant in the UK that we’ve been to using this type of egg, not the traditional ajitama. We were very disappointed at the sushi rolls. The rice wasn’t well seasoned with vinegar, or maybe they just used plain rice. Both tuna and salmon wasn’t fresh at all…I wouldn’t recommend the sushi here. However, I was very happy with the service here. My waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Meh. This is American strip mall Japanese; Singaporean food court Japanese. It's decent but much is left wanting.

Perfect food delivered brilliantly

The food was amazing. Getting assigned a driver took a while, however it was peak time on a Friday evening so understandable.

Decided on Japanese for our evening meal and found this place on the way back to our hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful and gave us a table without booking. The food was really tasty and fresh. We had vegetable gyoza, pork ramen noodles (hell hot) and a vegetarian bento box. A beer and a Japanese whisky to drink.

We had dinner here a week ago. It was busy but we got our chef’s choice order pretty quickly. The sashimi was pretty good together with the maki e futomaki. I would definitely had dinner here again

The food is terrible without any taste！I ordered Katsu don，it is an easy and traditional dish of Japanese cuisine， but they unexpectedly put cabbage and carrot in it！ Do not try this restaurant，trust me.

The ramen and hot pot were great but I would advise to watch the spice levels, sushi was amazing. Two mains and drinks with a side of sushi was more than enough for two people and was £50, would recommend :)

Food great as always. However sadly not all my order arrived.

Really wanted to like this place. But was very disappointed. When we arrived we were shown to a seat facing a wall. Not a great start. We then did not see anyone for 20 minutes. Nobody came and took a drink order or spoke to us. The place was not busy and we watch the staff clean tables instead of serve us. We left after 20 minutes without getting any food or drink or even being spoken to. Not the best Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh.

Absolutely delicious. The ramen and the katsu curry were especially brilliant. The restaurant interior is also very cute and makes for a nice dining experience. I wish I lived closer and could come back here regularly!

Recommend Sukiyaki, great dish. Wasn’t very busy but nice place for a meal. Definitely be back!

Worst takoyaki I have ever had in Edinburgh, and the rest of the food was okay. Pretty bad service. Maybe the waitress was new (I hope this is the reason why), but she barely had any clue about anything.

We went here yesterday and we loved the food and the service was excellent as well. Me and my friends enjoyed a lot as we had some ramens and sushi. I would recommend everyone to visit here if anyone wants to enjoy the authentic Japanese food. Thebest japanese restaurant in Edinburgh.

À FUIR !! La nourriture était franchement pas terrible et chère pour la qualité. La serveuse pas aimable pour un sou et elle nous a en plus arnaqué. Les ramens sont censés être à 9.90£ du lundi au vendredi le midi, elle nous a fait payé 13£95 car « la promotion ne s’applique pas aujourd’hui » contrairement à ce qui était écrit sur le menu et la devanture. Elle s’est empressée de fermer le restaurant après notre départ pour empêcher toute plainte de notre part. La nourriture n’est pas bonne et chère, la serveuse exécrable, en bref surtout passez votre chemin.

Las camareras eran dos chicas muy atentas y agradables, la comida estaba muy rica y muy sabrosa. Pedimos gyozas (5 unidades) y dos platos de ramen. Total 37,50£. Precios como en el resto de la ciudad, pero está rico. El ramen es generoso y el ambiente acogedor. A las camareras se las entiende bien al hablar (no tienen acento cerrado escocés, eso es de agradecer). Abren hasta las 22:30h.

Quite a disappointing experience. Tried this place for the first time as they were offering a BOGOF offer on their ramen. When we sat down I asked if they were still doing the promotion and the lady who brought menus and seated us said they were (actually she said you could only get one of the most expensive ramen, the other person would have to get a cheaper ramen (not the same one) for free...). At the end we paid and then realised they had not discounted the second bowl of ramen so we pointed this out. They refused to refund the money and said we should have told the server that we planned to take advantage of the promotion. When we said we had, they said it was a different person who took the order than who we had the conversation with and there was nothing they could do. I really got the impression that they didn't want to honour their own promotion, which felt particularly dishonest as we deliberately ordered slightly more food than we ordinarily would on the basis that we were getting the discount. I suppose we're the fools for not paying close enough attention in the first place before paying (cautionary tale about contactless transactions!), but it certainly felt like a short-sighted response to the issue on their part as I don't think I'd go in again based on that experience (and indeed I've written this review).

ramen was almost flavourless (we had a couple different ones and all had the same impression) and plain silken tofu is also apparently a baaad choice for ramen, at least for me

The waitresses were lovely. But the food was very heavy and rich or crunchy and very sweet. I’ve never had a yakisoba like this, I’m worried the noodles were not soba. I didn’t finish it either as it was just so sweet. The food was also not very hot. The edamame was hot though, so can’t fault that, but the seasoning on top was pretty shocking. The prices are also very high or the quality of food we received. It felt like a meal I would make myself but throwing lots of random bits and pieces together, I would expect a restaurant to offer food that is better than my own cooking. (I’m not a chef or very good at cooking) There are also a lot of flies buzzing around us the entire meal. It’s very off putting, as they keep trying to land in the food. I wouldn’t recommend the food to anyone. The atmosphere is very odd, it just feels off but can’t quite put my finger on it.

One of the best sushi restaurants in Edinburgh! The presentation is amazing and everything is just so delicious. It is not too expensive for the quality you get, and the atmosphere is great!

Awesome ramen, sushi and service.

So good, we went twice! Dinner one night and lunch the following day. The menu had a lot of options; with ramen soups and katsu varieties. The spice levels were tolerable and customizable too. The katsu chicken was amazing! It arrived in its own bento-type box with rice, katsu, etc. each in its own little areas so you could mix and match as you prefer. Absolutely delicious!
