Almost perfect. If only the duck and the beef (on the skewers) had been a little less over-cooked they would have been as terrific as everything else

We had been coming here once or twice a week regularly until late last year but stopped. Last night we returned. Ivan has arrived and all the previous issues were solved. Previously, service had declined, portions were reduced in size, extractors were now working and most of all, recognition. We are back fot sure.

Full disclosure, Sushi Murasaki is a local favourite of ours. We are Murasaki diehards & we have some favourites we wouldn’t go without. The sticky pork ribs are to die for and we often find ourselves battling over the biggest one whilst getting as much sauce as possible on to each bite. The miso soup is comfort in a cup with a beautiful umami flavour. We typically pair this with the spicy edamame which sets the meal up amazingly. The chicken gyoza are delicious - beautiful texture and filling with a nice vinegary dipping sauce. We try to go for a special each time and on this occasion the edamame spring rolls were, as everything always is, great. Crispy and tasty with a lovely chilli sauce. We opt for various sushi to follow the hot starters. Everything on the menu is so fresh and tasty. The spicy salmon/tuna rolls are exceptional. Murasaki have some great flavour combinations, some of which can be unique but these are usually our favourites - the Maida Vale roll is a particular favourite of ours, this is topped with seared salmon and salmon roe. All served with high quality hot wasabi and pickled ginger. The friendly staff are extremely attentive, the place has a great atmosphere any day of the week and the Japanese beer options go down a treat. Definitely worth booking in advance. For us, without a doubt, some of the best sushi around.

We had a Deliveroo takeaway from here this evening and it was the most depressing £120 I’ve spent in a long time! Most of the food was very average and some dishes inedible! The ‘spicy sticky’ pork ribs were neither spicy nor sticky, just fatty and flabby! The tuna and avocado (I think that’s what the green mush was) was equally horrid. I’m really very annoyed!

I tried to book this restaurant as they claim to be dog friendly. This is NOT the case! Please avoid if you want to take your dig as you will be asked to be seated outside.

Not sure what has gone wrong with the food and the portion sizes but on a recent visit (ordering the same favourites as we always do) - we all remarked how the quality of the food had gone down PLUS - the portions were reduced so substantially in size that they were little more than bite sized (they were never huge but this new dinky size is plain just not right). If this is an attempt to reduce overheads - I suggest that you keep your food standards up - bring the portion sizes back to normal - and rather put your prices up. It’s far more honest and acceptable to the people who actually come to you because of your good standing. We’re hoping it’s a one-off as we have been longtime supporters of this restaurant and have introduced many of our friends to it. It’s usually consistently good food and we don’t mind paying that bit extra for quality. If not - we will not be rushing back to order again until we know standards and portions have been re-instated

This prestigious restaurant has a warm, cleanly and welcoming atmosphere. The only way I can describe the atmosphere, is that it is like an operations theatre in Zurich, clean yet welcoming, and one will always leave feeling better than when they came in. The food is absolutely sensational. I am a great fan of the Wagyu rolls, the sirloin skewers, the shrimp tempura rolls, the spicy edamame, the spicy crispy rice tuna and the avocado rolls. It is truly exceptional, I could not ask for better food, it makes me salivate all over my CGP guide just thinking about it. The service is great, the staff are exceptionally friendly. I think that this restaurant is a must try, its fun and tasty, truly wonderful.

sushi is my favourite food and I have been to a lot of highly rated Japanese restaurants in London. Everything we ordered from here was delicious and beautifully presented. All the servers we had were so polite which meant even more to me and why I will be coming back here soon! Great range of sushi and hot dishes.

For a higher price point, I think it absolutely reflects in the quality and authenticity of the food you receive. There's quite a few sushi restaurants nearby, but those will charge nearly £3.50-£4 for a miso soup which is absolutely extortion for low quality - however, Sushi Murasaki earns every bit of the price point it charges. It's incredibly fresh, and the staff are seriously so lovely. On busy Fridays and Saturdays where food delivery drivers are storming the front door, you'll often see a server at an outside podium taking takeaway orders, helping drivers, and seating guests in the cold and rain and they do it with a smile on their face. Seriously, really lovely and worth the cost.

Highly recommend the salmon tataki, spicy salmon rolls and the California rolls. I am from Asia and can safely say the Japanese food here fresh and one of the best I have had in London. It’s gets very busy so would suggest booking in advance.

Introduced to this place earlier in the week and loved it. Really delicious food and love that you can choose your size of rice, spice and a side too. Really tasty and great value. Second visit and had the thinly sliced beef curry. Delicious. Not a place for a long meal but a perfect refuelling before heading off to theatre or something!

Interior has improved since the last visit which looked more like a converted pizza restaurant and now Looks like a restaurant with a large bar. Spacious interior with well spaced tables. Has the Tokyo roll- was good. The duck main was good but has to order an additional portion of rice. Service was good. Gin and tonics was well priced.

Had a craving for sushi somewhere in-between the high high end and Yo Sushi and chanced upon this place. Intending to do a lunch walk in for a la carte or one of their set menus, I was instead offered their Omakase menu only which is usually available via prior reservation only, more courses and of course, more expensive. The sitting was only half full so not sure why a la carte etc wasn't available. The edamame, dessert and miso were forgettable and barely deserving to make up three of the 11 courses (dessert was a scoop of ice cream) and the fish itself was good, prepared in front of you as you'd expect. It wasn't clear that the fish was "dry aged" so the flavours of classics were unique if familiar. The atmosphere was casual at lunch - this isn't pretentious although they still seem to be ironing out some kinks with the service - e.g some things were explained to one end of the counter and not the other. In addition to the lack of an a la option as suggested on their website (or set menus as featured in other reviews), the lunch Omakase is cheaper than on their website, which I only noticed after the fact as the so called encore sushi of your choice promised on the website was not offered so I double checked to ensure I had not misread. Overall a decent experience but some consistency in marketing/expectations management needed.
