Completely recommend this place. Really friendly and efficient service. Nice ambience. And food was wonderful. We went for the tempura (lovely and crispy), miso aubergine (soft, salty and moreish) and chirashi Don (mixed sashimi on rice) which was fantastic. 100% recommend this place for Japanese food

The sushi in Waitrose (specifically Farnham) and M&S (Camberley) is better quality than this restaurant. I've been a couple of times and the food has depreciated in quality. For example the seaweed within the rolls is soggy not crispy, which makes it horrible, and the temperature and cut of the fish is poor. Shame as I went once a year ago and it seemed 'ok' for sushi outside London but is priced high. As I mentioned, you get a much cheaper but better quality take away sushi from Waitrose to eat in the park - however, it's still all relative. Neither of these options come close to real sushi in Asia and expensive options in London etc.

I can recommend the chefs choice. Delicious and plenty of food for two. The service is speedy and unintrusive. A great little sushi bar.

Tempura was not delicate enough, the batter was too soft not crunchy enough like you get in Japan. Miso soup was lovely for sure. Nigiri was OK, no better and California roll was pretty "so what". Sushi rice was good and green tea lovely. The best and only Japanese in Farnham but far from acceptable in London let alone Japan.

My partner and I really enjoyed the food here. All of our main dishes were very fresh, plenty flavourful and good portions too. We arrived without making a reservation so we were seated at the sushi bar, which is understandable. The dessert was enjoyable. The service was brilliant, there is only a few servers in the restaurant and it was quite busy and yet they were still prompt with their service. I would highly recommend going here and I will definitely be back again.

Friendly atmosphere, great sushi!

The best food with the loveliest staff. I booked a table at 8 and was not able to be sat until around 8:20, however, staff were hugely apologetic and offered wine and beer on the house whilst we waited and all drinks for the evening were covered by them and they even gave us a free desert to go after the meal. The katsu curry, beef truffle nigiri and the California roll are an absolute favourite of mine. Could not recommend more.

I am a Korean who traveled from Australia and I am grateful to have found an amazing place in London. The menu was incredible for a place like this, the spicy pork rice bowl was truly Korean, and the few pickled radish pieces were also perfect. This is the place I will remember the most during my trip to England. If the owner is Korean, it was a really nice taste. Thank you ^^

First time in a Japanese restaurant and really enjoyed it. Although a little mixed up with the ordering will go again, food made to order.

I was on a family dinner night along with my 3 yr old kid today in the restaurant. My little one was bit excited. The chef approached rudely asking us to make my little son quiet while we were tying to settle him down. My family and I felt gutted and bitterly disappointed with his rude approach. We made a complain after which he apologized but this incident ruined our family time and dinner.

Excellent Japanese fare with friendly staff in a comfortable setting

The food was delicious and very fresh. We tried the prawn tempura roll, volcano roll and salmon hand rolls from the sushi and the chicken katsu curry. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming.

Never been here before but picked it out for my birthday. You don’t find many good Japanese restaurants in the UK but this was wonderful home made Japanese food! We had sushi to start and then then chicken katsu curry for main. The restaurant isn’t the biggest in the world and has more of a cafe atmosphere which I really enjoyed and it was very good value (£100 for four including beers). Service was a very good pace and very friendly. Highly recommend!

One of my favourite restaurant in the UK. Its food are quite authentic compared to a lot of Japanese food in the UK. My favourite dishes are Chirasin Don and Salmon Ikura Don. I suggest to pre-book a table as they are quite busy especially on Saturday afternoon.

The service is a touch slow but the food is worth the wait. We were early on a wet Tuesday evening and the place was almost full. I'm delighted that it seems to be working well.

I love this restaurant. Always our go to place in Farnham. The food is exceptional. Ordering take away instead of eating in the restaurant does not alter the quality of experience or food. So tasty and amazing selection. Can’t fault this place. They are always so friendly too. Great atmosphere.

This was highly recommended by friends who cited witnessing many Japanese businessmen dining here at lunch times as another justification for needing to try it out After failing to get a table last Saturday - this place is extremely popular and busy - we tried again for this Saturday, but failed again so settled for the Friday night instead We made do with a table for two and adding an extra chair for the little one on the side Considering how busy it was and how relatively small the kitchen area was - they did well Decor resembles a cafe style with the sushi bar seating in addition to variety sized tables that hug the corner windows Staff were friendly and efficient The menu isn’t extensive, and that’s typically a good sign as good restaurants do well with what they are good at I’m always happy when I see a Japanese restaurant that serves Takoyaki and Unagi….but always sad when they don’t do chawanmushi Two out three is not a bad thing and their Takoyaki’s were spot on I enjoyed their maki’s too, especially their Sushi Jun specials - we had the snow one I felt the donburi’s that we had were just so so, hence not quite getting the full five star rating I also felt the sashimi needs to be served on a bed of crushed ice if it isn’t stored at cold enough temp before serving However, Farnham residents are fortunate that they have this place on their doorstep and should continue supporting it

The service, the food, the bathrooms, they were all so clean and awesome! The staff members all had great manners towards me and my family. And even just the tiny details like how the soy sauce was quite full to the cute little statues.

Absolutely delicious food, been here a good few times always great service and staff are very lovely. Take away is also just as good. Definitely my favourite place to eat out.

The food here was absolutely gorgeous and scrumptious and divine. The drinks were lovely, the staff were lovely, and the atmosphere was very cozy. If you are hesitating to try the eel, definitely do, it is surprisingly tasty!

This was the second time we have been, the first time was spot on and food was amazing, unfortunately tonight we only received a starter and they had missed the rest of our main food and only realised an hour and 15 minutes when they asked if we wanted dessert so was really disappointed and ended up going to McDonald’s after as we were still hungry, but other than that the food is really tasty .

Eaten here twice and both times it's been delicious. Tempura prawns are amazing and I'd go as far as saying it's the best tempura batter I've ever had! 1000% recommend

Excellent food served by friendly staff. Brought the family and we all enjoyed the experience, both kids went for the Katsu, which was excellent. The sashimi and sushi was very good, and the hot dishes (I forget the name but the hot salmon dish was great) brought something different. Well worth a visit, Farnham doesn't have enough interesting restaurants so let's keep this one going!!!

Had a very odd experience this evening. The waitress took our orders; my daughter wanted sushi & the waitress left saying she would put the order in & we expected her back to take my order except she didn’t return to take my order. My daughter ate her sushi & I was left asking the waiter if they were going to take my order? Very under par service for Sushi Jun.😭

Great Japanese restaurant, small so booking essential. Good quality sushi, sashimi, maki, unagi and gyoza (pork, prawn & veg) were among my favourites. One minor downside is that because the restaurant is so small with an open kitchen, the frying tends to permeate clothes, hair etc so wear something easily washable ie. not a suede dress!

Very well maintained Japanese food restaurant with a varied menu of both hot and cold dishes. The food arrives in reasonable time and is very tasty. The place itself is quite small and has limited seating during peak times, so it's best to plan around this. The menu is also adaptable (you can ask the staff to remove certain ingredients from the recipe if you want), and there are many vegetarian options. Overall, friendly staff, good Japanese food, and definitely one of the go-to restaurants in Farnham.

Having worked in various Japanese restaurants in Spain, sorry to say I wasn't impressed. I asked the waiter if they had toro (fatty tuna) and shichimi (japanese spices) apparently he didnt have a clue what I was talking about. Also I had to wait a long time for a sushi roll to come out, the breading of the katsu was somewhat burned and hard. Definitely would not recommend it to someone who knows what Japanese food is all about.

Very tasty, the sushi rolls had a nice texture with a balance of sweet and sour. The ingredients were fresh and the sake was very good. Crowded at night, best to make a reservation if you don't want to queue.

All of the food was incredibly fresh and delicious. The service was excellent and we were able to see the food being prepared as it is an open kitchen. Will definitely be returning as there were many more items we would like to try.

Attentive service and delicious food!

The food was absolutely amazing! We had soup, edamame rolls, tempura and salmon and avocado sushi. The salmon was so fresh that it slipped down. Please do try the salmon nigiri with ikura roe - one of the best things ever eaten. A first visit but it won’t be the last.

Wow, what a treat! Some of the freshest, most delicious sushi (and prawn tempura) I’ve had in years. Beautifully prepared and amazing flavour. I had read rave reviews but all mentioning the service was poor? Not in our case - an attentive, sweet waitress who rounded out a perfect experience. We will be back!

Went on a Saturday lunch, it wasn't too busy so the food service was very fast. Everything I had from starters to sushi was amazing, I recommend trying the signature rolls.

Looks basic from the outside but is honestly one of the best Japanese restaurants at this price level that I've been to, even having lived in London for 20 years. The ribeye beef nigiri is a must!!

I had shrimp tempura and pork katsu curry which was delicious, with their home sake (didn’t like it but I don’t really like alcohol), finished with mochi which sadly tastes like it was bought in a supermarket. The staff are friendly - to be clear. But absolutely clueless. They cocked our order up. Drinks were warm. They need a manager to train them. The food is excellent. Really enjoyed - and we will be back. But OMG - staff need help.

Tried to make a booking, but no tables available. We we're offered seats at the bar, which was absolutely fine. When we arrived they said no space at the bar! After some polite exchanges and showing our booking conversation (via text), they decided to make some space for us at the bar. There was plenty of space anyway, so not sure what the problem was! Food quality was good. However, service was extremely slow. The dishes (all mains) were served one by one.... very slowly. About 10-20 minutes between each dish! We expected them to be served more-or-less together. A lot of waiting in-between dishes! When the bill arrived, it was about double the price😱. It includes additional dishes and drinks that we hadn't ordered. They apologised and corrected the bill, but still charged service charge (though admittedly we could have ask for it to be removed). It was a Saturday night, so potentially busier than usual. We may give it another try, but jury's still out...

TERRIBLE SERVICE + Expensive drinks Staff all dressed shabbily, not communicative - slow service Food did not come out accordingly - with no explanation to say that prior so I had to eat while my partner watched £4.80 for a little bottle of Asahi. For that price you would imagine it would be draught. With the open kitchen your clothes really stink afterwards ! The food really is the redeeming factor. Gorgeous and tasty food Would not come again unless service sorted out !

Absolutely superb meal last night. The Prawn Tempura and the Prawn Gyoza were simply sublime. The staff as always were polite and so obliging upon collection. I will most definitely be returning on a regular basis. Thank you Jun and team.

Had a family get together recently at Sushi Jun. Everything they served was perfect and we ate very well for a reasonable cost. Arigato gozaimasu. Will return soon.

Small place, limited seating, bit slow in serving although having a small place. Food is good however I put 4 stars because the rpice is a bit high and specially for the cleanliness, tables are sticky, some items from the table were not clean which is a big no-no, I could see it, as well as other table utensils which were cleaned but not well.

Recommended! Worth give a try and with quite authentic Japanese style food. Good service and clean environment. Will come back for sure.

This was such a wonderful meal prepared in an independent restaurant. Highly recommended and felt lucky to have pre booked a table judging by number being turned away due to no availability.

I went with my family, its fine to bring kids as suitable rice and udon you can choose from the menu. As raised in Hong Kong, we do love Japan cuisine. Surprisingly, this is quite an authentic one! Unagi is good and not easily found in other so called Japanese restaurant. Udon is at high quality with texture, which reminds me eating in Japan. Friendly staff and cozy. recommend.

Visited Sushi Jun tonight for the first time since Covid and had forgotten how amazing it was. Honestly feels like the sort of restaurant that should be in central London rather than Farnham. The food is absolutely incredible- could not fault a single dish. We love sushi but there are loads of meat and veggie dishes so even non-fish eaters will find plenty to love here. Service was a little haphazard but the sublime food more than makes up for it. They also do not seem to have increased their prices as other restaurants have done in the area recently so actually now very reasonably priced for the quality of food. If you haven’t been here yet you definitely need to go- we certainly won’t be waiting another 2 years for our next visit!!

Genuinely superb. Lovely little place, off the main street of Farnham away from the chain restaurants which I admit I've had a habit of turning to when going for a meal......this place came recommended and didn't disappoint. All the food was superb. Very attractively presented, speedily served considering it was a busy lunchtime, and extremely fresh. I can't claim to be a sushi expert, but it was extremely well made, good ratio of fish to crunchy veg to rice and sauce, and some excellent smaller sharer style plates besides the sushi. Can't recommend this place highly enough for Farnham, it's a winner.

Always enjoy going here, food is beautiful and freshly made. Decent prices considering most restaurants in farnham. Waitresses were friendly, food was quickly served. Things do come out at different times but I don't mind that at all. My new favourite place to eat in farnham.

Really yummy food, freshly made so each dish comes as soon as its ready which we liked. Only reason for 4 star and not 5 was that there was quite a few items unavailable from the menu the evening we visited which was shame (and just handy to know at the beginning before deciding what to have!)

I'm on visit number 4 to Sushi Jun. Decent sushi / authentic Japanese in rural england isnt exactly the easiest thing to find, and it is one of the things I miss most living here. So, by the numbers, 1: The interior, is well laid out for the space available, nicely done, and the tableware feels appropriate 2: The service. The business is clearly struggling to hire and retain good staff, but who isnt right now? This part of the review will probably age like cheese. The staff are somewhat inexperienced, but they are being actively trained on the job and are trying to do the right thing. 3: The food, is top notch. The kitchen, which you watch in action consists, of the chef (owner?) and a small cast of other folks. Really good things happen there and everything I've tasted is delicious. 4: The price. Perhaps a little high, but honestly its a small business doing great food in troubled times. I'm a fan and happy to support them. So if you love Japanese and feel an urge for sushi or just some bubble tea, check it out. The place is excellent and I hope they find their groove and get a great team hummming each day.

The food is really nice and fresh, colourful, simply presented and quite delicious. Sadly no butterfish here. Service can be a little slack, glasses not steamed unless requested and drinks not properly chilled. Oversize windows make you overly visible to passers by which means the place isn't as cosy as it could be, ambiance is otherwise well thought through. The place is kept very clean throughout and they use reusable chopsticks which are both better for the environment and a nicer experience to use.

We knew nothing about this restaurant but as we walked by it looked interesting so we decided to go in. Started by ordering a couple of small dishes and as these were delicious we carried on ordering! Accompanied by warm saki our meal was superb. Good service as well - excellent. Will definitely visit again

Had a great evening, not enough soft drink options, as they had run out of plum drink, and no real alternative that was any good, food was great and so was the service, the waitresses were under pressure, not enough of then to be honest, they deffinantly put in a shift the night i was there,

When we moved to the area from London neither my partner or I ever imagined we would find a Japanese restaurant of this standard in the area. It is the real thing. We have travelled extensively to Japan, and love the food. Sushi Jun is a piece of Japan in Surrey. Yes, it’s not the place to go if you want to eat and get out in a hurry because the master chef does all the work and does it properly. But the food is exquisite. We hope Sushi Jun is always in the area, we would be very upset to lose it. Highly recommended.

Heard some rumours and gave it a visit. All in all pretty decent, nothing amazing but good solid Japanese food. The service was quite slow at just under half full. Had the Japanese bun, was okay not great. The pork don just tasted like Korean. The sashimi wasn't super fresh but quite nice! I did like the wasabi, it wasn't the cheap stuff. The menu isn't very diverse, but usually that's a good thing. I'd probably go again but not in a hurry. Worth a visit! (The milk bubble tea is just okish..)

Sushi Jun is an excellent restaurant. It is as close to authentic Japanese as you will probably get in the UK. We have tried almost everything on the menu but the tempura prawns, sushi and sashimi and Japanese buns are particularly good. If you're not familiar with Japanese cuisine then the staff are very good at explaining the menu. To be honest you can't really go wrong no matter what you choose. My only criticism would be a very limited desert menu, which is a shame as Japanese deserts are some of the best in the world!
