Surbiton YMCA in Kingston upon Thames

Nice, friendly staff. Sadly my coffee was lukewarm as was the vegetable soup. One of the servers was breaching at least two food hygiene rules in the five minutes we watched.

First time gym user and the staff have been so friendly, helpful and understanding that I'm a little out of my comfort zone. Shown around and made to feel really welcome in new classes with full instructions given. Other users friendly and welcoming. It's not a massive gym but for me I think it's perfectly adequate and not at all intimidating for someone who is new to these things. Really enjoy going and has just what I need. Also the cafe downstairs is great, there's a play area for children and the coffee was great. Lovely staff especially on the weekend.

Rudest staff ever, and mediocre facilities for a very expensive price. Expect to be treated with disrespect and discriminated against by the staff, queue for machines, encounter sweat on nearly everything and feel crowded practically all the time. It's a terrible gym and the staff are even worse

Mi familia y yo hemos tenido algunos buenos almuerzos en el YMCA. Hay una gran variedad y una gran barra de ensaladas, así como una opción de asado. Todas las comidas a un precio razonable. Hacen una buena selección de cafés también a precios razonables. El área del café es grande y el personal es amable.

Soy fanática de un gimnasio y puede hacer todo lo que quieras en este gimnasio, sin embargo no hay piscina de sauna. El servicio es bueno y el equipo funciona muy bien.

I went again to the gym with some coworkers. We gave it another chance and in two months nothing has changed. The facilities are still dirty and smelly, despite the several complains to receptions. We took some pictures of the facilities to show the status of the showers and steam room. It is a third world country environment. Quite unacceptable for the membership price. I can't understand why they think it is acceptable to have such a unhealthy environment and why they keep ignoring members comments. One of the girls at receptions, when we pointed out the steam room in the male area was filthy, replied "I can't get in there right now, but we know that. I have been told it also smells of sweat and dump, right?". they know it and they do nothing.

I used to be a member of this gym as it was close to work. I stopped the subscription as the hygiene is unacceptable and too gross and dirty. The steam room is a tiny hole and has got a constant carpet of fluff of pubic hair on the floor. The soap containers often are filled, by sick customers, with body-fluids (you can imagine which ones). The rooms for Yoga and Body Pump are poorly heated and we were asked to wear jumpers and jackets to warm up. It's a third world environment and I am surprised hygiene inspectors are fine with this place. Have they actually ever been?

I often frequent the restaurant her at the YMCA Surbiton. I've used their sunbeds a few times aswell as their gymnasium. The restaurant Is closed during the mornings - for private use for the YMCA residents only. The staff are friendly and the food freshly prepared on site by the chef.

The cafe is surprisingly big - perfect if you have several push chairs. The staff are friendly and you can purchase a good lunch for a very reasonable price!

Great location to meet mum and baby friends as there is lots of space for buggies and to sit babies on the floor on mats. There are also lots of high chairs which is great. Friendly helpful staff too. One lovely lady even came to us to take our tea/coffee orders so we could stay with the babies :-) The rhymetime and Una Coello guitar girl sessions are fun too!

If you re looking to use the gym at off peak times then you'll be fine as it's very small with very few pieces of equipment. Conveniently located in the heart of Surbiton.

Surbiton YMCA offers a small cafe-cum-restaurant at the back of its ground floor premises. When we were there so were quite a number of elderly people. Possibly for fish on Friday or possibly for a good value affordable lunch and meeting place for acquaintances. My wife and I had a pleasant meal, our plates were clean by the end of it, staff were friendly and helpful. Little bit like a school canteen, i.e. self-service. But that is because it serves the residents of the YMCA every day. My wife ate mixed salad. I ate fish, chips and peas. Better than BHS.
