Supreme Chinese Restaurant in Southampton

Hemos estado en este restaurante varias veces y me gusta el ambiente tranquilo. La comida es un poco más caro de lo que normalmente para así que tienden a reservar para ocasiones especiales. La característica excepcional para nosotros es la voluntad del chef para adaptar platos para la cena y son siempre servicial en tratar con mi intolerancia gluten.

Fuimos a este restaurante un viernes por la noche, basado en los comentarios que había leído aquí, y no nos decepcionó. El restaurante en sí no tiene mucho que ver, pero me alegro de que había reservado ya que sólo había una mesa vacía en el lugar (siempre es una buena señal). El servicio fue bueno, aunque un poco lento para tomar nuestro pedido, pero estábamos en ninguna prisa, y el lugar estaba muy ocupado.yo viajo por motivos de trabajo y he comido en muchos tailandés restuaurants, y tengo que decir que la comida era excelente.Si estás buscando un lujoso restaurante tailandés, es sin duda no lo es, pero si lo que buscas es buena comida a un precio razonable, con un ambiente relajado, entonces éste es el lugar. Sin duda volveremos.

Nos llegó a Southampton para una noche y queríamos una agradable comida tailandesa. Nos presentamos en el King and I, y estamos muy impresionados, el servicio era fantástico, la comida muy buena y toda la noche sólo volamos por! Una de las camareras, incluso nos enseñó una frase tailandesa local como vamos allí de vacaciones pronto! Así que, en general, una gran noche, no te decepcionará!

Doesn't look much from the outside but the service was brilliant and the food was so tasty, definitely worth the price which was reasonable for portion size! Loved it'

Short of time my partner and I phoned ahead for a takeout whilst late night shopping in Southampton. Food was ready on time and the Lady who dealt with us was very pleasant. I have eaten out from here before on several occasions but not for 3 years.. My partner has never had food from here and isn't generally keen on Thai food.Just as I remembered the food was excellent. We had massam and red curry chicken, pork with chillies and beef with garlic with steamed rice and some sate. I love my Thai food really spicy -that's what I requested and what I got -just as I've enjoyed in Bangkok. My partner prefers milder spicing and the standard level was in his opinion spot on. Well worth mentioning is that the portions are generous -often Thai food can be served in almost cuisine minceur options but not here. Not being based in Southampton I usually have to use more local Thai Places but none approach the K&I.

good food friendly staff :-) nice food served fresh from the kitchen, very clean and comfortable seating. little well stocked bar with lovely authentically dressed waitresses. centrally located not far from where the boats dock and from the old town gate.

This restaurant deserves to be packed out every night.The food is better than any other restaurant that we visit, (which is quite a few!). You can taste the individual flavours, such is the delicacy of the cuisine.Service is always beautifully attentive. We felt very well looked after.The atmosphere is relaxing and conducive to a family meal / night out.Yes you pay a little more but it is worth every penny.I would highly recommend The King and I. An excellent restaurant with wonderful food and lovely service.

I always like Thai food. Went there on a weekday night last year. The prawn cracker was very tasty and went well with the Thai beer. Food was good but slightly overpriced. The dessert was very good and made to order. I ordered the Thai style pancake which was served warm with palm sugar in it. Very tasty.

My wife and I love thai food and, in front of our hotel, we were so lucky to find this thai restaurant, we tried it. It is a real thai restaurant with thai service and, most important, thai cooks ! It was so good, the waitress so friendly, that we had all our dinners there during our stay in Southampton.Something I did not like ? The music was a bit boring ... Thailand has so many good singers and great songs/music.Congratulations !

I have been her at least 5 times and it offers consistently great food and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Try the red snapper in sweet chilli - sublime!

Excellent food, service and value. I go around once a week, one of my favourites restaurants in the city. Try the prawn pad Thai or the chicken cashew. Mmmmm

My partner and I were looking vaguely for a Thai restaurant on a very rare night in Southampton. We stumbled across the 'King and I' restaurant, which from the outside didn't look very much at all. We were treated to the most wonderfully warm and friendly service. The food was evidently all freshly cooked and was just an absolute delight. I would recommend this restaurant not only to people within the Southampton area, but I would encourage anyone to travel from a long way to experience something quite different and special. We will definitely be back!!!

I have been a couple of times to this restaurant and it's excellent. There are lots of different options and because they cook as you order, you can always tailor your dish to have more salt, less salt etc. Highly recommended.

Food is disappointing. Staff is friendly. Atmosphere is good and relaxed. But don't expect too much.

The food at the King and I is always fantastic. We have tried many things on the menu and are always blown away - even by things that are a bit different like 'son-in-law' eggs. The fish and seafood is especially good, I could easily order the mussels every time we go! The service is very friendly and the prices reasonable. The decor is plain and simple, and don't sit too near the door in winter, but we have a great time and great food whenever we visit The King and I.

My boyfriend is a big fan of Thai food so we have tried to sample every Thai restaurant in the area, and The King & I is very easily our favourite. The food is delicious, the service good, and there is even entertainment in the form of Thai "finger dancing"! Excellent

WoW! Went there with my partner and brother and the food was amazing and the service so friendly. We where very impressed and left feeling very happy.
