DO NOT EAT HERE!! made a reservation for 8 people for sat 12th October, phoned and checked res on Fri 11th and was told all ok, was told yes all ok, turned up with family to find the restaurant closed, no one answering their phone or emails, we had to try and find a restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night for 8 people, not happy at all and DISGUSTING service!!!

Sadly I really didn’t enjoy the food. The noodles were dry , the salt and pepper chips burnt with no taste , the satay chicken sticks were ok but a bit dry and the prawn crackers were soggy . Won’t be ordering again as I’m really disappointed. Most of the food ended up in the bin .

Food was fresh and delicious! Service was great and we loved the relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend

Visited today for lunch, and enjoyed the updates to the place! Last time I visited (a good year ago), the place was dirty, run down, and the food was standard. Today, we were pleasantly surprised by the smart interior updates making the place look clean and tidy. The service was great, with the waiter being very kind, happy to help, and attentive. The food was very affordable, with 2 courses and a drink for £10 being a highlight. The food was warm, tasty, and presented beautifully. For your money, the portions are a big size. The only fault is that the exterior was the same old, and there was no one in there. More signage and a better entrance out the front would hopefully invite more people in. Would highly recommend visiting.

Celebrating my birthday, Deepak and the team did an excellent job and the food was better than expected. Would highly recommend the new and improved environment and friendly atmosphere.

Ordered chicken curry egg fried rice and salt n pepper ribs . The curry was powdery and the rice was hard .. Ribs were so good and the meat fell off the bone and loads of flavour😋just a shame about the curry and rice. I will ordered again though I think 🤔.

Had a buffet lunch here today with my Son and was delighted. It is now under new management. There was a varied choice of food which was hot, well prepared, delicious and well presented. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the service was quick and friendly. they also do a delivery service. I will be returning and highly recommend Kachina.

Been coming to kachina regularly for 10 years. Unfortunately will never come again. All friends had severe food poisoning symptoms within 2 hours of being home. Phoned kachina to make aware and was told a manager would call back.. no call 2 days later. Reached out on social media as no email available, made it clear that we had met at kachina and then gone straight to our own homes- only food that we had eaten together was from kachina. Messages were bluntly responded too, no apology, I asked what their food hygiene rating was and they said they don’t have one! I believe on judging a business on how they rectify a complaint- rather than judging on the complaint and for that reason I would advise everyone to avoid kachina. They did not care about making their customers ill and still haven’t got themselves a food hygiene inspection for a rating. I dread to think what the kitchen is like. Ruined by new management. We have now found water margin in Romsey which is only 10 minutes away from kachina. 5* food hygiene rating, lovely food and staff, on site parking and same prices as kachina- go here!

food was bad. chicken and pineapple rice with peas and egg- not a single pea, bland, zero flavour. egg foo yung- grey and cold, again bland. stale prawn crackers, ribs in capital sauce had almost no sauce. really disappointed, seems the takeaway service is suffering with their relaunch, genuinely wouldn't know this was from a Chinese takeaway.

Wow the most disgusting Chinese meal we have ever had in our entire lives my wife had to stay off sick today because of this vile food. Had iy once before it was lovely. Got it today and it was disgusting and cold. Bland all just tasted of burnt oil no other taste. We ordered chips. Salt pepper chicken, chicken balls, smoked chicken, chicken noodles and seaweed bbq sauce

Poor food was one of the worst Chineses I’ve ever had

I visit this establishment often because I like this place. The food is delicious, the price is not expensive, the menu is varied, the dishes are large. We've done some renovations and now it's even more comfortable. Nice people and service. I will definitely come to Kachina again.

good portion size. duck is meaty and goot quality. it is hit and miss sometimes but recently its been more hits than miss.

Original delivery time 17:15, had to chase and then delivery time was change to 17:50. Chicken and cashew was disappointing, the sauce was really think and stodgy, and the noodles were a bit claggy. Salt and pepper prawns and spring rolls were great. Crab claws slightly over cooked and hard in places.

Kachina was always our go-to place for special meals and family celebrations, but it went through a bad patch some years back and when we tried to book there in 2023 it was closed and we thought it was gone forever. But it is back and better than before. We went there for wife's birthday, the soup was excellent , a terrific range of starters to follow and then Crispy lamb while the ladies had vegetarian duck. We only saw one staff member who took orders and served but a very friendly attitude and overall a wonderful and enjoyable evening. Thank you Kachina.

The waitress was lovely so happy and friendly but the food was awful the chicken was rubbery and starters seemed reheated definitely not fresh. Unfortunately we came home with food poisoning!

The atmosphere and the service by the waitress was absolutely amazing. However I do not recommend their food at all. The chicken did not smell good and tasted really rubbery. The prawn smell really awful. We came home and immediately was down with food poisoning.

I had no Chinese takeaway for a long time and when I had it it was very good. This one was a terrible choice. The beef was ok but the chicken chow mein was a most tastles pasta ever tried. It was no stir-fry just plainly cooked cold pasta with 2 pieces of onions. The chicken tasted row. Never again

The most God awful takeaway ever! Tried more than once but the same experience so won't be buying again. Chips reheated over and over, fried rice looks like boiled rice with egg, greasy chicken balls so thinly battered and you can see the oil dripping out. Small containers used for curry sauce and sweet and sour only half full, containers with other food very small portions.

Food arrived quickly. Sweet and sour chicken was rank, no real flavour and more artificial colouring than Dulux paint. Egg fried rice was soggy with bits of slimey egg. Will not be using again.

Food was delicious, wide selection of various different kinds and the buffet meals provides more than enough options. Staff were very welcoming, attentive and kind especially our server Ewa. I would definitely recommend especially seeing as the price for buffet is only £19.50 per person. I will happy be returning ❤️

Food turned up cold , basically more carrot than meat in your curry’s. Egg fired Rice turned up uncooked, and ribs? Would be good if had meat on the bone. For the amount of money paid, could’ve have gone elsewhere. Slightly disappointing as had really good reviews.

AVOID. I had ordered on delivery. I ordered crispy chilli shredded beef. I took a bite and they’d sent the same but chicken (I avoid chicken as it can make me quite ill) then I called as thought it may have been a mistake and they responded with. ‘Oh yes we ran out of beef so we sent and made a chicken dish instead’ and they didn’t even notify me of this baring in mind they sent me a complete different dish to what I had ordered. Then I ordered plain noodles which were swimming in cold fishy oil, the crispy seaweed was soft and mushy, and the salt and pepper chips were freezing cold and instead of chips they were very thin French fries with some raw onion chucked in. I am disgusted at the lack of care from this restaurant

Ordered through Just Eat. Order arrived in good time and I wished it didn't arrived at all; could have got a refund because the food was the worst ever. Never again will I order from there. Try a get a refund.....blood and stone comes to mind!!.

Absolutely revolting food delivery. Ordered from Uber Eats. Stone cold, reheated food. Chips rock hard, noodles with hardly any chicken and a minimal amount of aged veg. Fried rice more boiled with the most highly processed chicken you'd ever seen in your life. Everything looked wrong about it, like it had came out of a bin about a month ago and reheated. Prior to realising how awful the food was. I stupidly and regretfully ate about 1/1.5 chicken balls, and a mouthfull of noodles and became unwell 4/6 hours following which lasted 2 hours before my symptoms resided. I should have thrown it all in the bin instantly. It literally screamed dont eat me!!! I am do annoyed that I didnt listen to the bad reviews. They need investigating by the food hygiene standards agency IMO. There was something so very, very, very wrong with the food we received from Kachina. I have often read horrifying reviews of people complaining about poor food quality but didn't really understand it until I experienced what we go last night.

We walked in and the place was so rundown, grubby and dated. There was no music, no vibe or atmosphere it was just dead on a Friday night with a man writing orders down on a notepad. We ordered from the buffet menu and the food came out within 10-15 mins and we quickly realised it was NOT what we were expecting and it was NOT good quality or tasty food at all. The chicken satay skewers were so chewy and stringy I struggled to swallow them and was worried about choking, the prawn toast and spring rolls were a greasy oily mess and the ribs were just little lumps of fat and gristle. My partner ordered duck and it was just a plate of dry shreds, no seasoning and no crispy bits. Everything was cold which made it ten times worse. I ordered chicken curry and it was this watery mess with giant cubes of chicken in it. The noodles were oily and it was like they had been coated in some kind of messed up beef gravy. There was nothing Chinese about this restaurant, it’s just a couple of blokes in a kitchen heating things up in a microwave - nasty! There’s a leak above the entrance door and they had some weird black tarpaulin above all bunched up with water stains all over it and my partners bag got soaking wet just from being left on the seats. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!

The phone number doesn't work and our order is an hour late! Is this restaurant still there?

Staff were not very happy and did not make it a welcoming atmosphere. The toilets were very unclean despite being the only customers in there. There was no hand soap, what there was had been watered down. Whilst the food was nice, it came out very quickly making us wonder if it was cooked thoroughly. No draft beers and a lot of other food and drink options were not available. We felt like a hinderance whenever we ordered something and never received a smile. Whole place feels very outdated and in need of upkeep/revamp.

Did not enjoy the food at all, the beef was like chewing old boots and the chicken worryingly soft and flavourless. The mint at the end was the best bit. Spent 20 minutes trying to ring up and book a table only for the phone to ring out continually, when we arrived we found there was only one other table seated so my partner asked if they had a problem with the phones, the server told her she didn't know, we then watched her ignore the ringing phone for the rest of the evening. Service was prompt. Would not go back.

We ordered takeaway and it was really really disappointing. The fried rice was dry and bland and the prawns tasted as though they were days old, dry,chewy and massively overcooked. The batter on the spring rolls was soggy as well as the batter on the sweet and sour balls. I was very sad and disappointed

Took the kids both under 5, nice food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant is a little run down visually but don't let it out you off. Buffet is good value,all you can eat starters and a main or desert for £20.

The orange sauce chicken (mine is vegetarian so not real chicken) was phenomenal. 🥰🍊 Definitely makes me return soon. The guy who served us was polite and helpful. Just like the blond lady and another woman. We ate plenty for £19.5/p. Enjoyed trying new dishes. If you like Chinese meals you should go there and eat as much as you like or can. The restaurant is a bit old fashioned enteriőr but who cares if the dishes take our attention to enjoy. Honestly I can't wait to have an occasion to return. Liked the variety of sauces you can choose and they think of vegetarian people too.

We have often had food from Kachina over the years and it have normally been great. Yesterday we ordered for delivery for my father's 82nd Birthday and when the food arrived I was seriously disappointed! The duck was not crispy and had no seasoning that could be tasted. The hoi sin sauce for the pancakes was running and disgusting. Not hoi sin sauce in my opinion. The smoked shredded chicken was soggy and have none of the wonderful taste we have always enjoyed. Looked like it had been microwaved. The ribs were overcooked and the Thai chilly chicken was just not as it should be Very disappointed and having used Kachina for years I will not be going back. In short it was disgusting and not the standard we have been used to. Today my husband has spent a lot of time in the bathroom and really is not feeling great and he had the Thai chilli chicken more than myself and father. It is hard to find a good Chinese these days. Our local has recently shut after 50 years and Kachina has always been our back up until now. Time to search for a new option. I will never recommend Kachina again!

Came here with a group of friends and couldn't have had a better night. Amazing food, everything was fantastic and we ate a lot! Service was exceptional, we're made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much bother. Can not recommend this place highly enough. Fabulous value too

I called Kachina at 20:10 to enquire where it was I was told there was traffic and call back in 10 minutes if not arrived, I did explain that I was only 5 minutes drive away and I could see the road leading to my flat and there was no traffic. By 20:20 it had still not arrived so I called again and again I was told traffic. This place has been up and down over the years, always tasty none the less but last night we went last minute on a whim and managed to get a table and the food was absolutely fantastic, they admitted to having a new chef and this was exactly what i wanted to hear the food came out hot, fresh, perfect sized portions the service was amazing I also love the new lady they have now as a waitress she is very bubbly, welcoming and it is nice to see the same faces! I'll definitely be back more often it was a lovely surprise to be that dam tasty 😋 see you soon! Sorry I didn't take any pictures as I was too busy enjoying it !

Excellent food. Buffet is amazing so much choice. Eat as much as you like. Soups are great. Recommend satay chicken and peking duck.

I haven't visited Kachina since before lockdown & my has it gone downhill! The food was very substandard. The Coca-Cola was completely flat & the spirits were cheap brands, nothing authentic like Gordon's/Bacardi etc & yet still pricey. The customer service was slow & none of the staff seemed to be very cheerful. The toilets were a disgrace too, for both the Men & the Ladies! We will definitely not be returning, nor recommending this restaurant to anyone. If I had to rate this place I would only award it 1 star sadly 😠😤😡

Group of 6 of us booked for Friday night. We were the only customers. There didn't appear to be anyone cooking the food. Normally you can see a Chef(s) or smell the food being cooked, this wasn't the case. We ordered the buffet but left after only the starter as the food was so poor. It is very safe to assume the food was just re-heated. Even though we had more courses paid for as part of the buffet which we could have ordered, we decided to move on. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the bill and we were over charged by £60.00 (we were charged for 9 person not 6). Luckily we spotted this and this was quickly rectified. Staff were friendly. This used to be a brilliant place to eat, absolutely fantastic. But this only on Kachina by name now.

We have been going here for over six years as a family and with friends. It used to be great but tonights visit was just awaful, very slow service and the food was very bad. We had a mixed started , the ribs were riblets and just full of fat, the seaweed was dripping in oil and soggy, just vile. The prawns in better were so over cooked its unreal, such substandard food. I showed the manager the food , he didnt seem very fussed. Very didnt stay for the rest of our meal and we left. We will not return to this place.

Went here for a friend's birthday, we did all you can eat buffet, it was amazing, couldn't get enough, now a week later I still want more 😂, brilliant staff, friendly service, good food.

Food great. Every dish was really tasty and lovely! BUT the service was awful. Some of us ordered buffet while others ordered from main menu. The staff seemed very inexperienced - brought out rice for our main course before we'd finished our starters and before other people in group had even ordered their mains. They seemed to think a group wanting to eat their meal at the same time was unusual! They did not ask about allergies - essential now.

Brilliant place, nice staff, amazing food! Tables are a bit low but other than that theres nothing to complain about. I love the Satay stuff!

Came here for last minute evening meal. Didn't want to get take away in as you pay for set meals and wanted a choice, so googled where to go and kachina came up... Even better they done buffet style. Note this isn't help yourself, which I personally don't like anyway, So you get choice of starters ( as many as you like, eat what you order and order more ) then a main each for set cost. The starters were so good we ended up with 2 lots of them and skipped the mains 😉 you can have a dessert instead of a main which is what we done, just a standard ice cream ( wasn't the best quality but still enjoyable) All food cooked fresh, staff efficient and courteous. Clean tidy restaurant.

I have enjoyed many meals in Kachina over the years. The food and service have always been to a very high standard. However, I was disgusted at having to pay adult price for my 11 year old son just because he is over 1400mm tall....

Best Chinese Food in Southampton! If you are a Peanut Butter lover you should try the Satay Chicken (starters). Also the Cantonese Roast Duck, the Chicken with Cashewnuts are awesome... GREAT BUFFET, GREAT SERVICE AND QUIET PLACE. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
