Absolutely the best Chinese takeaway in Southampton! The ladies that work there and the delivery drivers are so lovely, whether I phone in or go in they're always so friendly. And the food, well it's simply delicious 😋 we've been getting food from here for nearly 20 years and have probably been spoilt because nowhere else ever tastes as good! In the past on days Golden Pool have been closed, we've tried other Chinese takeaways, but no-one has ever come close to them for taste or service, so now we don't bother, Golden Pool is the only Chinese takeaway we will use.

My favourite chinese, always really busy though so sometimes delivery can take longer than said but its worth it!

I like very spicy hot Chinese food and not many can manage to create what I call "The Bum Burner" whereas it's as hot going in as............ Well I'm sure you you can figure out the rest. Although not the hottest, but it made the nose run so I shall definitely be returning. Can't complain for my visit

Food was good but the service was very slow, one person waited over an hour for their food.

This takeaway is a shambles. First we were told the card machine wasn’t working and they’d call back. They didn’t call so we called them. They took the card details but said it didn’t match the address (which wasn’t right) and said they couldn’t take the order so we asked them to cancel. We checked the bank account and the money had been taken, so we called again and the woman was very argumentative! And we only gave one star because you can’t give none!

I stopped using them 2 yrs ago as long waits and orders always wrong. Thought I would give them the benefit and try again tonight .. wrong order sent and missing items. Rude lady when I called in was told to pay again. I don’t think so won’t ever use this place again

best food the taste is the best the best chinese takeaway ever

Ordered an hour ago told 40 minutes come to collect and still not ready.

Ordered King prawns Hong Kong style, Singapore chow mein,curry sauce and chips.king prawns tasted ok had 4 king prawns in the dish a few pieces of veg and sauce ,next the Singapore chow mein, well it was dry overcooked and the taste was horrendous, Chip's were normal Chinese style no salt, Curry sauce as always too much Chinese 5 spice seasoning no curry taste.Overall the score 2/10 never again.

Very disappointed waiting 50 minutes on Collection highly spicy and found a long black hair in one of the curry’s never using this takeaway again don’t want to give it even 1 star but it seems I have to give it at least 1 star to post this review I did contact them & they was sorry they offered me more food if I bring the food back but I explained it was so off putting to find a hair I couldn’t even except a replacement I would just like a refund but unfortunately that’s something they couldn’t do I’m not from this County & I was hoping for it to be nice so next time I’m visiting I just know not to use this particular takeaway sorry for the bad review but I am very disappointed I most definitely would not recommend This to anyone in Southampton 😏🤮👎

Two hours after ordering and having been told that meal was next out after an hour cancelled order shame really as best chilli ribs I've had time to find a new take away

Sorry to be making this review, this was probably the worse Chinese meal we have had. The crispy shredded beef was like eating bullets. Chow mien was over cooked and dry, fried rice was over cooked and cooked with to muck soya sauce. Would strongly recommend finding else where.

Food is lovely, wait time typically 15-30mins for collection and the price seems to change depending on whose serving you but hits the spot nonetheless.

Waited two hours for food and still never arrived!

Beautiful food & service although delivery man let you guys down big .... short changed Me a few quid when I called to complain he had a the cheek to drop back 90p couldn’t be bothered to recall & complain about this same man but he will definitely not get away with it again !

Best Chinese takeaway I have ever used. Never had a delivery that has not been freshly cooked. Would say - get your delivery ordered earlier than you thought - it's popular and always busy.

Nice food. Needs an extra person to take orders. Can get busy so sometimes have to wait for food.

Well that was a joke took 2 hours 15 mins to arrive rang twice and was told each time it was just leaving all lies by time it arrived it was just soggy been using this place for years think it's time to look elsewhere

Food is lovely my favourite Chinese, but take ages to answer the phone and delivery can take along time

Not bad food but gone down hill . Ordered 4 currys and rice got home and was missing 2 rice went back to be told initially no it was right . .....need to improve customer service

Massively disappointed with my food. The staff were nice and friendly but the food left something to be desired. Prawn crackers were stale. The chow mein was incredibly dark coloured and not visually appealing, it tasted of salt and not much else. Salt and pepper chicken tasted nice but was very different to what I've experienced from other takeaways.

My girlfriend has been coming here since she was 16 and she says they do the very best pancake rolls. My chicken balls were spot on. Best I've had, excellent quality chicken and not greasey. Our favourite Chinese takeaway for sure.

Ordered in the shop. Sat and waited for more than 45 minutes. By the time we got to eat the food, the chicken was dry and the prawn crackers were chewy. I ordered rice a few years ago and it wasnt cooked properly so, have avoided returning until tonight but will not be returning ever again. People were coming in and ordering and phoning up and coming to collect whilst we were still waiting.

Acudimos a este chino todo el tiempo que pedí un rollo de panqueques hace unas semanas y se fundió. En realidad olía como largo de granja lechera. Era vil seguro decir que no lo comí. Era la primera vez que había sido así, así que no me quejé, simplemente asumí que estaban ocupados, etc. Traje otra anoche para ver si habían regresado a la normalidad y no dmely absolutamente vil otra vez, así que no volveremos a ordenar. El olor de eso apesta a mala carne.

He visitado esta comida unas 3 veces antes. Cada vez, la comida ha sido buena. Pedí una comida para llevar el sábado por la noche, ¡y fue espantoso! No sé si hubo alguien nuevo cocinando la comida, ya que no ha sido así antes. Al abrir el pollo al curry, se notaba que cada trozo de pollo era gris / gris oscuro. Mi compañero cortó el pollo por la mitad y fue igual por dentro. ¡Parecía absolutamente vil! Repugnante. Ni una sola pieza era el color normal. Es asqueroso que el cocinero haya visto que el pollo estaba apagado y que aún así se lo haya servido a un cliente. No hace falta decir que el curry se fue directo a la papelera, ya que ya no confiaba en la comida para pedir otra. No volveré a conseguir comida de aquí.

One of the best chinese takeaways. Excellent service and excellent food. Ok u might have to wait a little longer sometimes but it's because they are so busy. Would definitely recommend.

Have been using this take away for a long time but a year ago found the food went down hill so stopped for a good 6 months Then decided to try again glad I did the foods Been fantastic and now I'm spending to much on takeaways again And being lazy I do get it delivered now and again always found the time good And convenient see you soon .

The staff on the phone were very friendly couldn't ask for a better service I have used other take aways but this one is the best in southapton in my opinion and the food is to die for thank god for good food

Food is Good, unfortunately the home delivery is appalling in that a 45 min delivery time, took 90 mins or one and a half hours.They should apologise in good Chinese custom, or give meal free, if they are so busy, very dishonourable. So not ordering a home delivery anymore, shame as the food was good, ...

Despite moving into our house 7 years ago, we had never ordered from here until tonight! I feel I’ve missed out over the years! The food was hot, and lovely, good size portions & not filled with tons of onion like some other takeaway places. We had the sharer starter and it was yummy. I had s & # s Hong Kong style & my partner crispy lamb. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Delivery was slightly over the expected wait time we were given, but only by 10-15 minutes. Will definitely be using again and would recommend no problem. Thanks

Been using this Chinese for a long time and they have always turned up trumps.Would highly recommend their bab spare ribs but really everything we have bought has been delicios.Arrives hot and worth the wait

Been using Golden Pool forever and this time I called to put an order in from my partners. I asked to pay by card and because my billing address isn't my partners I couldn't do this. To then be told that they weren't happy to take my order anyway because it was less than £20 (it came to £19.10). I'll be going elsewhere where I will spend over £20 because I'll be able to use my card. I understand this is to reduce fraud but maybe consider getting a website that verifies the card details so you don't have these restrictions.

By far the most disgusting curry I’ve ever ordered in my life the rice was mushy the sauce was tangy and bland the chicken was so dry and the whole thing was just a mess the lady I spoke to questioned me and didn’t like my feed and said you are my first complaint and replied I don’t care if I’m your first or last I’m not happy with the food and was extremely hostile the other meal my boyfriend tried containing the mixed meat chips ribs pork balls ect was so salty and greasy they put no effort into their food what so ever I don’t recommend to any one the best chinese I have eaten from by far is eastern house

This Chinese is by far the best the portions the freshness completely outdo the competition. The food is always delivered on time and you can rely on your order being correct.

After a very good review from a friend (a customer for over 20 years), I decided to give it a try. To start with the order consisted of Singapore Fried Rice, Sweet Sour Pork, Won Ton Soup and a bottle of Cola. For me Won Ton Soup is served in a clear Broth with some cabbage leaves. This Won Ton Soup was terrible. It contained to much salt probably from the Soy Sauce and it contained shredded Lettuce which was just not the same. The Sweet and Sour Pork was average. The flavour was average The Singapore Fried rice was very spicy, very overpowering which caused the other foods flavour to change The delivery was 90 minutes and there was no communication to inform me that there was a long wait for the order. The overall cost was not worth the prepared food or the long wait.

This Chinese is the best...been to a few others but always come back to Kendal. Food portions are larger than other places ! We've basically had most things on the menu. Try the chop kam China.

Some of the food is great but some not so great. We weren't particularly keen on the chicken curry but enjoyed the plain chow mein, chips and fried rice etc

Nosotros usamos esta para llevar ya que está muy cerca de donde vivimos. El personal es amable y cortés, la comida es buena y hay un menú decente. Nunca tuvimos ningún problema aquí.

never had any problems with this takeaway. their prices have gone up recently but their aromatic lamb in hot and spicy sauce is always a winner. the staff are friendly and the food comes out fairly quickly.
