Superfish in Woking

Great fish and chips. We drove 40 minutes from London to eat here. Yes, not just for the food, we were in Woking too. Superfish is always good.

Average at best. Not chip shop chips. Waitress service very good. Nothing ‘Super’ about this fish and chip shop.

I had not been to Superfish in many years but was in the area and fancied some fish and chips so called in and ordered a large cod and chips and now wish I had not bothered and gone elsewhere. The so called large cod was small compared to my usual chippy and it was actually a bonus it was not bigger as it was horrible, the batter was was an awful dark brown colour and looked and tasted like it had been cooked in old oil that was long overdue for changing and the same dark colouring for the chips that were not nice either. I can honestly say these were the worst fish and chips I have been served for quite some time and if it had not been so far to drive I would have taken them back for a refund and would certainly never return. The nice looking plate of fish and chips in the Tripadvisor photograph looks nothing like the one I was served but if it had been I would not be writing this review expressing my disappointment at my meal and the waste of money.

Lovely friendly place with amazing fish and chips

Great tasty food. I live in Hampshire and often break train journeys at West Byfleet just to have food from here. Can also recommend their other premises in Molesey and Ewell.

Food was lovely, not overly hot but that is the distance and good be wrapped better. Delivery driver doesn’t read the notes.

Proper fish chip shop, Easily the best around here. Great staff and lovely place to sit in as well.

First visit/takeaway purchase. Tasted/looked like reheated chips. Cold and dull looking chips, certainly not fresh, we’ve all had them? Cod was okay but nothing special. 2 out of 5 for food quality.

We live in Woking and have never been to Super Fish. Our friends from NY were visiting so off for a fish and chip supper. Really excellent silver service, we started off with fresh prawns followed by Haddock, poached salmon and calamari of course with chips and a side trolley of “wallies” onions, ketchup and tartar. Good size portions, the fish was excellent very nice batter and chips were cooked to perfection. A most enjoyable evening with good friends, definitely recommend.

On Thursday I went to Superfish and had a small cod and chips, the service was so good and quick the portion was very generous and perfectly cooked. I wish I lived near by but I will be back. The young people at the front of service were excellent.

Great restaurant, food and staff 5 star. Highly recommend. 2 or 3 visits a week and quality always 100%, reliable and friendly.

The oil is old the fish was tiny and the chips taste disgusting I at about five and it's still repeating on me three hours later

Our local chippy was closed so visited this one and was very busy but cant understand why as the fish was overcooked and chips not good, perhaps you get better if you sit in

Just bought a small cod and chips £8 and a battererd sausage £2 total £10 takeaway. The battererd sausage was bigger than the cod!! What a rip off.!! 😪

Best Fish and chips ever, a real treat to travel over to West byfleet for them, its worth getting stuck in the traffic for. Love them

I use Superfish two or three times a month and have found them to be of good quality, not this time, there was only five actual chips in the portion, the rest of it was a load of small dry rock hard bits, the chips are expensive enough as it is and I would expect a portion of freshly cooked chips not the scrapings from the bottom of the barrel as it were, I'm recovering from injury at the moment and can't drive which is the only thing that stopped me from returning that insult of a meal, I won't use or recommend them again.

Ordered a takeaway of 4 large lightly battered cod and chips on a busy Friday evening and they were all cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. Well done to all the staff who are always polite and professional.

Passing by and dropped in for a large cod and chips. Was available immediately.... Very poor and normal sized, dried out fish and unusualy brown chips, that were obviously the last ones left, as very few big ones and lots of small dried out ones. Really disappointed and feel a bit ripped off.

You’d think if you’re just selling fish and chips you’d master the chips at least! How the hell can you not master it! Never again!

Went to this chip shop for the first time as thought it would be good as always busy. We ordered basic food x2 chips with batter and a roll and I ordered a savaloy sausage. They had missed some of the items so we initially took it back I had tasted the savaloy and it is a thing I never want to eat again I have had many before but this one was weird looking and tasted like water. I asked to exchange it to a battered sausage and they did the staff are really nice and cannot fault them at all. But when we got home the chips looked burnt or like a brown colour and there was grease dripping of it like what you would expect. The sausage was a dark brown and looked liked it had been sat in fryer for years. Really bad tasting the whole meal really made me want to vomit. I barely touched it the only nice part was the bread. Its like they hadn't cleaned out their fryers for a while hence to bad food not sure but I definitely will not be going back anytime soon

Uncooked scampi. For the price of £12.50 for scamp & chips it shd be delicious. Chips were over cooked & scampi was wet & soggy. Haven’t had this for years. Wouldn’t bother. Inedible. Offered to remake but I’m put off :(

Staff were really supportive and enabled me to choose food without the fear of it making me unwell. The only bits of advice i ahve is chips could have been cooked a bit longer to make them crispier and the website needs to reflect there are gluten free options (as a separate part on the page instead of how it is set out as it confused me to understand it) EDIT, when I went yesterday I was told the chips were done in the same oil as the gluten things but they were doing gluten free so I don’t understand if there’s some cross contamination going on… it has very much worried me since then… From this I do feel staff need more training than they’ve got

Warmly greeted as we sat down, we were presented with a plate with bread and six shrimp/prawns on it to nibble on while we made our minds up. I chose large cod and chips, my wife had plaice and chips (in the photo), as you can see it was huge, but we managed to finish it off. The mushy peas were plentiful and good, fish was nice and hot, which it should be, chips excellent, batter was crisp, even the little bits left on the plate at the the end. To top it all I was given a giant pickled onion. Service was excellent and friendly, seems like lots of regulars were dining there, staff had time to chat as it became less busy. Great place to eat.

We popped in completely randomly as we were passing by, and asked if they had a table free, not having been there before or knowing anything about it. Wow!. What a find. The staff were absolutely lovely, the food was delicious and it was reasonably priced. We had a really lovely time. We were so well looked after and nothing seemed too much trouble. I've had a really busy working week as a nurse ....and it was so nice to just have a bit of time feeing I was being looked after instead. The service was quick and everything was just perfect. Thankyou for such a lovely time and meal.

Always superb. Best fish and chips in my opinion. Fried in the Yorkshire way. Superfish have been around since early 70s and have a small chain. I’ve been to this one and the one in Molesey. Always good. Usually do a lunchtime special, sit in, small cod and chips with a pot of tea for a reasonable price. They serve you and bring the trolley with picked onions gherkins etc. Fours years after I wrote the first review, I’ve just been for takeaway, still the best fish and chips around. Young guy serving on counter… I want to sing his praises because his customer service was excellent

Do you actually answer the phone? 1st time trying to order a take out having recently moved to the area and come recommended. Very disappointed

Superfish are consistently good and this order was no exception.

First time trying super fish tonight. Ordered ahead online - a great perk. Walked in to the smell of over hot oil. My large cod and chips came, cod looked a little over done and the chips were mostly short, bottom of the barrel sort. Got home to find a very over cooked fish with a near burnt oily batter and dry fish. Chips were very average.

They serve the best fish and chips I've had anywhere. Eat in downstairs or more formal at Jane's Upstairs.

Brilliant Fish and Chips ordered a large and small prime cod with chips and curry sauce for delivery to woking and got to say the batter was nice and thin and perfectly crispy even with travelling and the food was lovely and hot, portion sizes were excellent this is definitely going to become my regular chippy

Since I have moved to West Byfleet Colin and the rest of the staff have always been very friendly and delivered good quality fish and chips - my Japanese girlfriend is addicted! Once a small piece of fish dropped off before I received it and I was presented with a whole new piece - great customer service.

Superfish is usually fantastic. However, on occasion things aren’t so good, and today I had fish and chips that I can only describe as poor. Chips soggy, large fish (supposedly) not completely covered with batter and subsequently the fish was burnt! All round highly disappointing. Let’s hope they are back to their usual standard next time I visit!

Was deciding between here and the ketch in woking and picked this one based on reviews. Bad decision. This place usually has a line out the door so I was pleasantly surprised to get there and there was no line, immediately was served and out the door in less than 5 min. When I got home my order of 2 large cod and chips and 2 small cod and chips was rubbish. You couldn’t tell the difference between which was large or small other than there was more chips. One piece of the I’m assuming large fish was so skinny and resembled a battered sausage width. I usually get a large fish to share with my 5 year old and I went without cause the portion was that small she ate one herself. The chips were either mushy or undercooked, no crispy bits that everyone fights over. Highly disappointed. Paid £35 and was still hungry after. We won’t be visiting again.

This has been my family's go-to restaurant for generations. Incredible food (especially the haddock) and even better people. Lovely, friendly and tasty!! And the little prawns are to die for. Would 1000% recommend to a friend. Many thanks to them and look forward to seeing you soon 💗

After years of enjoying Superfish the quality and quantity have plummeted. Seems we were paying more for swanky new packaging than for what used to be the best fish and chips around.

Very disappointed, having seen good reviews was expecting good food. Ordered x2 small cod and chips and x1 large. All the fish had burnt batter with dark charcoaled areas, the fish and chips smelt and sadly were overpowered by the taste of old oil, which they were soaked in. As per other comments not sure if just bad day but seems not just a one off.

Unreliable! Today fish was overcooked, undersized for a "Large", old oil taste - but chips were OK. Real shame as last time everything was really great. Do not think I will go again, other more reliable places nearby!

Absolutely delicious. Ordered for the first time from here on Xmas. Everything we ordered was top class. We had cod, battered sausage and chicken balls and chips, would struggle to choose my favourite between them. Not the cheapest chip shop but good value considering portion size and quality

This is the second time your delivery driver has been sent to use an incorrect route, what should be a 6 minute journey took over 25 mins by which time the food was "cool and soggy". There is something wrong with your App and needs attending to. The driver was polite and apologetic and it was no fault of his own, he had merely adhered to the delivery instruction he received.

A very small portion of Huss for £6.00 covered in overcooked, burnt batter. A normal portion of chips that cost £2.00 which had to be rung out to get the cooking oil out of them. Two Huss and normal chips for £14.00 was a waste of money, very disappointed, never again.

Not great as the batter was burnt and the fish was dry. However I called up the restaurant and they have refunded me which I am pleased about.

Absolutely abysmal service you need to get more drivers. When he arrived he told me he had only been allocated 20 minutes ago. I will now use another delivery service unless you can categorically confirm that this will not happen again.
