Sunshine Cafe & Restaurant in Kingston upon Thames

The Sunshine Cafe has been a staple on the Broadway. It's expansive menu is good value for money and the owners are friendly. Sometimes when it is very busy or they are training new staff there are some hiccups but never anything egregious or something that goes unrectified. The chefs are flexible and happy to substitute items at no extra cost. The Brown Derby is amazing and a must have but be warned it is diabetes inducing.

I ordered a runny egg ( dippy egg and soldiers ) with brown toast .....when it arived it was a cold peice of white toast with a thick layer of margarine and the egg was a fridge cold over-boiled egg from the fridge!! The woman who took my order did not speak English either. I wanted to complain but I was with a friend and didnt want to cause a fuss. I now feel sick. I wish I had taken a photo as this was something I could have posted on the satire social media page 'Rate my Plate' Very dissapoining.

We just ordered a breakfast for my birthday today it took ages to arrive it was stone cold the egg was like rubber the restaurant was not interested when I called they blamed the delivery person totally unacceptable especially as this was for my birthday the restaurant will not accept responsibility and no refund

visited with dog other Sunday sat outside went in ordered coffee man went to sit at table my dog at i explained i was there as can't take dog in he used 'f' word at me 3 times & came back to me twice to have a go (think had been drinking prev night as looked worse for wear) no one helped (customers & certainly not staff) head chef should have told him to stop or leave. I ask 2 staff toask h/chef come speak to me they said he busy! no one checked my welfare even tho shocked at their customer's behaviour! I've been going to cafe for 30+ years, not return till yest as owner was on hol, explained what happened he not interested/made endless excuses! will not return as not safe as staff do NOTHING. Man at table next to me asked what happened he went in & told man off who gave apology! (tho not to me) lady yest ask where i been as not seen me a while i told her, she said cafe gone downhill/staff not helpful so word of mouth makes big difference. Shame was a good cafe & with businesses needing all customers can get with way world going at present, they should do much better. Meet regularly with pals/dogs but we will go elsewhere. Food is good if u want to go but with way Tolworth going downhill not safe there (lived in area years glad i don't now) I don't think esp if staff don't bother to look after customers or call police. Only because i said would call them man stopped abuse & sat at a table.

Staying in the local premier inn and looked up local restaurants. Sunshine cafe had great reviews so we walked up , about 10 mins. Lovely and friendly staff and huge variety on menu , extremely reasonable prices. Portions are HUGE , all fresh . Would certainly recommend

Visiting the Tolworth area for a family bereavemnt, We were looking for a clean looking cafe with a good looking menu. Walking up the Broadway we passed several shops that did not quite tick our requirments. Sunshine Cafe & Restaurant appeared with 3 very clean tables outside on the pavement. On entering the welcome from the server was pleasent and encouraging. Ordered our breakfast which came well presented, Quickly and hot. Perfect. The morning experience encouraged us to return in the evening for a our evening meal. We had the same warm welcome as the morning. Food was excellent and well presented in a friendly atmosphere. I thank the owner of the cafe for his offer of tea on the house, but we had just refused to have a second cup on the bill. We certainly recomend this Sunshine Cafe & Restaurant for a visit!

I have been visiting this cafe for years and the service and food are always outstanding. My kids have always asked to go here if we were able to afford a treat, lunch out, they are all in their 20’s now and still get excited if we say we’re going to sunshine. Keep doing what you do, keep being amazing. Just a tip to those who don’t know…. Try the milkshakes, they are beyond compare, I have literally paid double elsewhere and they don’t come close. We will be back again very soon xx

I work night shifts and I love to order from this cafe! They know exactly how to make my bacon sandwich and there food is always spot on! It’s the best place to go especially when your feeling too lazy to cook! It’s my go to place!

Amazing food! Fantastic staff! Just recently got back from Thailand and this was the first place I wanted to go eat. Highly recommend the Sunday roast, fry up, lasagne, fish + chips, burger and chips & the chicken curry with rice. I hand on heart cannot recommend this place enough!

Visited here for breakfast whilst staying in the premier Inn down the road and I am so glad I did ! We were greeted with a smile , the service was friendly and efficient, but most importantly the food was really good and great value too ! If you are staying in the premier Inn and you happen to read this don't waste your time on their breakfast come eat here ...was worth the walk 👍

Other all-day breakfast eateries have laminated plastic menus that are difficult to manhandle, but few then serve up such good value and high quality as the Sunshine caff. It's one of several choices in Tolworth Broadway, but for friendliness of service, speed of serving and value for money, it's the top. Although a little stark and garish inside, with its fixed furniture meaning you have to be a certain size to fit snugly in some of the seats, it's a terrific place for a cheap fill with the endless options for all-day breakfasts, omelettes and fry-ups listed with illustrations. The milkshakes are good too, though not as generous as some restaurants.

This was a very unassuming place from the outside We were warmly greeted and given a menu. Waitress collected our order quickly and efficiently We had number 8 breakfast and a make your own! Food was freshly cooked and very tasty Also had a cappuccino and a tea - all freshly made (My mum who I visited with is a bit of a snob and turned her nose up at my choice of breakfast restaurants but declared it much better than her local cafe!😊)

Stopped here for breakfast outside. Service was excellent and both serving staff were very friendly and polite. Food was your usual “English” breakfast but menu is large if you fancy something different, and very large, will need to skip lunch. Worth a visit

Having called in dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Toilets could do with a better clean but acceptable. With the restrictions on groups they managed our group of 8. Making sure we sat legally on two separate tables.

Visited here late last night, took us in and stayed open late for us to eat and even enjoy dessert! Staff are great and friendly even go the extra mile to make sure all customers are having a good time 10/10! Would recommend and would come again

We stayed at the Tolworth travel lodge and were looking for somewhere for breakfast, the cafe is literally round the corner. The staff very welcoming and the food was very well sized and worth the money. Enjoyed! Would highly recommend.

Was there 3 times with my family. It was reasonably priced, decent sized portions and nobody in my family had anything to moan about. Service was quick and polite, which is what you want. Nothing fancy, but value for money

I wouldn’t normally review a simple cafe, but this cafe is several steps the others. Interior is fairly ordinary, but very clean. The waiting staff are so friendly. I ordered just a coffee and an omelette. The coffee is lovely. The omelette was massive and served with chips and peas. It was such a fantastical simple meal, but so well cooked and presented. Thoroughly recommend coming here. It’s also very good value. Thanks guys.

My girlfriend and I visit Sunshine fairly regularly, walking into sunshine is like being greeted by friends, the staff are lovely and the service is fantastic! Valentino is always polite and friendly, and the girls are always smiley and polite. We don't go to any other cafes any more. Fantastic food, and the best team, keep it up guys ❤️

Popped in with my son after my nail appointment and we both fancied brunch! Ordered one of the many breakfast choices with sausages, hash browns, eggs, beans, bacon, bubble n squeak - huge portions, delicious coffee very satisfying and very reasonably priced! What a gem! Look forward to it as a once a month treat after getting manicure done!

We were on the move and came across a little gem. Easy parking great service & friendly staff. The menu was full of all the favourites and yes we ordered a good mix. I have the liver & bacon. One of my sons ordered 2 lots of the pancakes and the 2nd one ordered a full breakfast along with the teas coffees and bottled water ‘ eat the lot.’ We left full .just off the A3 and tolworth ,will be going back at some point.

Usually always good esp if Kadir the owner around (not today) service slow today (ordered with young male but female sorted order as 10 mins for a coffee!) gets noisier each time visit so difficult to have a conversation shames as used to be better, could go & read paper but gets so loud nice new tables/chairs to sit outside if warm enough staff good/friendly but have difficulty grasping what you want to order sometimes which is frustrating

They never disappoint with their food, never have to wait long either. There portion sizes are not for the faint hearted, I have never finished a meal in there. Great value for money and the staff are always so nice Sharon D

We went in on Saturday afternoon about 4pm and enjoyed jacket potato with tuna and cheese (served with salad), children's portion of sausage, chips and beans; and mushroom omelette with chips and peas. The drinks we ordered were diet coke, orange juice and mug of tea.The total bill averaged about six pounds each and was good value. Service was prompt and courteous. All the food was eaten. Size of portions was generous. One of my two young daughter's comments was the orange juice was a bit sour. It was served as part of the kids meal. It was a Princes carton of juice from concentrate and was within use by date so did not appear to be a problem. We will certainly be back again for lunch sometime.

If you want a proper breakfast go here. Perfect greasy spoon with the friendliest service you could wish for. I love this place.

The Sunshine Cafe is a place that I want to like, but currently just can't get beyond 'average' in terms of the food quality.

My Dad found this little gem and brought me here for a roast. He,s a bit wobbly on his pins but at 88 he can still demolish a good dinner, but even he struggled to finish it. Greta food , Great staff. top marks

My two young daughters demanded that we have lunch here as we were planning on very very premature Xmas preview shopping in Tolworth Broadway. Even though we were there around late lunchtime after 2pm the place was still packed with diners and had only a few spaces left. The waiter was prompt, efficient and friendly. The children both had chocolate milk shakes (more like ice cream shakes) and one ordered the children's menu of sausage beans and chips; the other ordered jacket potato with cheese (served with salad). I had so-called fresh coffee (not instant). All was fine and the food and drink disappeared pretty soon. I didn't have to help finish the food, only the very sweet pale chocolate shakes (colour of coffee). The children were happy and my wallet didn't suffer too much as we'd had the lower priced items on the menu (apart from those shakes). I'm sure we'll be back again when in the Broadway.

Don't expect super high quality food but it's very good as cafes go!Portion sizes are generous and prices more than reasonable. Food is of good quality and not super greasy unlike a lot of cafes.

We went to pick up a friend from work and decided to get something to eat. We came across Sunshine Cafe & Restaurant and decided to check it out. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful service. The menu had a great number of choices. When our orders arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portions and even more surprised by the amazing flavors. It was some of the best food we've ever had in London. We are definitely becoming regulars and recommended to everyone who enjoys good food.

when I had visited with my friends we had good breakfast lunch and also dinner in this cafe I like so much because there staff was friendy wifi working was very fast and very tasty food and dinner .

Popped in for brunch and found an extensive menu on offer. Great all day breakfast menu. The mega breakfast was truly mega. See photo. 4 meals with toast from doorstep bread. Everything well cooked. If you are hungry I strongly recommend a visit. Right opposite Homebase.

I wonder where the place gets its name from, because even with the sun shining bright it's not a very bright environment. Of course that has very little impact on how good it is as a cafe, and in that regard it does just fine. One one occasion the waiter seemed a little distracted and unattentive, but on the whole they are friendly and responsive.The food is just what one expects from a high-street sit-in-and-eat cafe. Definitely not some high-fashion coffee and cake shop. Your normal range of all-day breakfasts, lunches, baked potatoes, teas and coffees. Nothing special, and doesn't try to be.

It had just started raining as we were searching a late lunchtime venue on a Monday afternoon. Having walked up and down the Broadway we settled on Sunshine. It smelled like a greasy spoon caff but looked okay and had a few customers inside. We selected the childrens menu of sausage chips beans soft drink and ice cream and also I ordered jacket potato with cheese that my children wanted to share. I had tea followed by coffee. Service was polite and fairly swift. Children ate all the food. Quality of food and cooking was fine. We had an accidental spillage of one of the glasses of coke across the table and floor but it was soon mopped up by the staff. A customer in a wheel chair was leaving at the same time as us. A pleasant and satisfying visit. My only quibble was that they seemed to charge for the 2 colas separately whereas the menu said soft drink was included in the childs meal. Anyway I intended to round up the total to compensate for the inconvenience of the spilled sticky drink.

Really impressed by the Sunshine Café as a cooked breakfast connoisseur. Superb selection of breakfasts from traditional, black pudding, burgers, and fries which makes it a hard decision to choose what to have. Food arrived really quickly and had been cooked perfectly. Very nicely presented with bacon and sausages cooked to a T and very large portions. Staff were very polite and attentive with Cafe looked after with care with a spotless restaurant, tables, and even the menus having being wiped down. A real pleasure of a cooked breakfast and will certainly be returning after finding this gem.

Sometimes you just need a good fry up and that's exactly what I got in here. Pleasant staff and good food, that ticks the only 2 boxes required for me.

Staying at the local travel lodge we were looking for a nice family restaurant. Its more of a cafe in appearance but the staff and food were faultless. We had the homemade lasagne and it was brilliant my wife had the fish n chips again lovely. Price wise it was not expensive and we will be eating here again if we stay in tolworth. The toilets were clean and there really wasn't a negative. Brilliant and simple but just watching the number of locals coming and going made you realise how much this place looked after people

when we looked in it was empty unlike one further down the road which concerned us, but what a suprise reasonably priced, tasty, and plenty of it, did not like sausages though. really friendly staff.

Good honest breakfast with good friendly service, the place is good. I am a secret fry up connaisseur and like most people i have had a breakfast in a few cafes and this one is memorable. Ok, tolworth broadway is not the greatest but it is better with a place like this. The cafe is clean and the staff spend time cleaning when it is not very busy, rather than a wet dirty cloth wiping the table only after someone has finished in other cafes. The staff are friendly, the breakfast is good and it is value for money. I recommend.

Stopped here for the first time for a leisurely coffee & bacon sarnie breakfast. The coffee was freshly-made and delicious, while the bacon sandwich was well-cooked & tasty too. Bacon - crispy and salty - yum!Beans - not Heinz, not over cooked.Chips - thin and crispy!Toast - nice thick white bread!Eggs - just past runny - little over done!Staff were great! I came across this lovely cafe in 2012. I have been coming here ever since. Great selection on the menu, service is great, and the food is all cooked to a high standard. Prices are also extremely competitive. I highly recommend this friendly cafe for every reason.

From the outside, the cafe looks very old school and inside too the decor is very traditional. However, this is a hidden gem. The staff are very friendly and look after you well. There are plenty of them too. It was very busy. We had four delicious cooked breakfasts with hot drinks. They gave us a mineral water on the house. It all came to £24. The kids were given a lolly pop at the end. We were very impressed. If you are looking for tasty, filling food this is the place to go!

All my family eat here on a regular basis. I quite often bump in to somebody I know when I visit the food is FAB and the prices are reasonable. It's always busy and that tells you it's good.

We come to this Café whenever we visit our Son and Daughter-in-Law. There is always a warm welcome. Don't expect tablecloths and linen serviettes, but the place is extremely clean if basic.Their menu is just jaw-dropping. There is so much to choose from. The portions are massive. Overall, we all love the place.

This is one of our favourite eateries in the area and we love the super fast meals and service. The salad is always fresh and we enjoy the no fuss but good selection of food. My parents are vegetarian and we've just come back from a our meal there they were pleasantly surprised! worth going to if you're in the area! Thank you Sunshine Cafe!

This place is good. Service is on point. Food is decent. Good value. Pleasant stuff!I have been a customer in this for few years. It is the best cafe in Tolworth and Surbiton, has vast variety of food selection in their menu. Food is fresh, drinks are good. It is definitely recommended!I don't know what else to say. I was surprised at the only negative comment here however, things do happen.

This place is a great greasy spoon. I have been going for years. There's even a photo of me on the wall no word of a lie. It was back in 09. This place has made its way into my heart for picking me up and dusting me off after a heavy weekend. They do absolutely incredible milkshakes and full English breakfasts. Cheap and cheerful with a good set of staff what more can you want. Just relax and get a paper and read it whilst eating breakfast.

I've been coming here regularly for many years and even feature twice in the rogue's gallery. I find the service superb...the staff here really look after me extremely well. Admittedly I do make some effort to avoid the busiest periods of the day, when the place gets very crowded, not surprisingly. The food is straightforward fare, generous portions and excellent value. For a pensioner like myself it's a godsend...I know I will get a filling nutritious meal at a very reasonable price. And I take full advantage of this, coming several times a week.

Went there with a friend as an extension of the SUBC (Swansea university breakfast club) and found the food was an ok quality but you get what you pay for. Polite staff and and the food was hot! Would go again

This cafe is on Tolworth Broadway, not really Surbiton.My husband and I eat here once a week. The staff are excellent, they know all their regular customers and we really appreciate this personal service.We usually eat omelettes or jacket potatoes. The omelettes are HUGE with a generous filling of your choice. The jacket potatoes come with a lovely salad and pats of butter on the side. Most customers seem to be regulars, which tells you how good this cafe is.Service is speedy for when you are on your lunch hour, but not rushed if you have time to relax.

Absolutely worst appalling service ever by rude management and staff that can hardly speak a word of English and never get order right and try charge whatever price that suits them till you query it avoid everyone unless you want to be treated like dirt

Here you will find excellent food served by staff who will really look after you.There's an extensive menu from a fry-up or sandwich to a roast.The staff know their regulars and will anticipate their needs. It's nice to be recognised like this.Service is swift but not rushed.Love this place

Near Tolworth roundabout. A busy cafe that offered numerous options for English breakfast plus various other meals.Breakfast number seven suited me. Very nice bacon and sauté potatoes rather than chips,sausage, egg, mushrooms - no beans. Toast and tea. £4.75.Seemed to be parking outside too.

We stayed at the travelodge across the road from the Sunshine Cafe, and went here every morning for our breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful as well as the food being tasty and just good grub!

We stayed at the Travelodge across the road , when we visited family in Kingston last year, we called in to the Sunshine cafe and when we saw the all day breakfast we decided to try one, we were not disappointed, the portions were very generous and the food was cooked to perfection. After a day sightseeing in London, we decided to go for our evening meal, I had cottage pie it was lovely, We found that no matter what time of day you go there are always lots of regular customers in, The staff are very friendly, and the tables are cleared and cleaned as soon as the meal is finished.We can recomend this Cafe to anyone visiting London or staying at the Travelodge in that Area, the meals are nicer than any that are served at Travelodge, and less expensive too.you can get a good hearty meal for around £5.

Our first choice for an all day breakfast. Always busy, service always very friendly. Breakfasts are very reliable, meat isn't great quality, but what would you expect for a huge meal for £5? X

Visited the Sunshine Cafe with my husband and daughter whilst visiting Kingston to drop my daughter at University. We basically went off Trip Advisors recommendation for a great cafe and we weren't disappointed. Fantastic food, excellent service, spotlessly clean and lovely staff. It's a "no frills" cafe, with a lovely atmosphere and we will definitely be returning next time we visit. My daughter will be a regular!

We've eaten here several times over the years when in London (at the nearby travelodge). This time was as food as before, it is an unassuming place with no airs or graces, a good diverse menu, prompt service and clean.Great milk shakes and coffee, as well as plenty of breakfast permutations. If are nearby give it a visit - you won't be disappointed.

I have been going to Sunshine Café since I was a kid, 10 years on and I am still a customer. I love the food, the price, and the friendly staff! I often bring friends who visit along here for the BR3 after a drinking session the night before and always have positive things to say about this place.

Been coming here for three years now and the standard has never dropped. Breakfast is truly amazing but my favourite is a baked spud with cheese.and beans. If you visit Tolworth you must must visit. Highly recommended by myself and partner.
