Sunshine in Reading

Really sad to write this as never had this issue before and been ordering here for years! but after waiting 2.5 hours for my food ( I was originally told an hour and 15 minutes which was totally fine and called after an hour and a half to be told it was on its way) I was advised that the driver was new and manager would ask him give me back some money as I’ve already paid by card when I ordered. 45 mins later he arrived and i tried to explain this to the driver. He wasn’t interested at all and tried to snatch the bag of food back off me on the doorstep physically pulling it out of my hand! I asked him to wait while i called and he flew off before i could even get the call answered! I managed to the bag I then phoned to complain and was told that he was coming back to give me some money back but he just demanded the bag of food back and denied any refund was due! Terrible service poor communication rude man and wont be ordering again! Food was cold unsurprisingly and didn't taste nice at all.

Good quality, plenty of choice and reasonable prices, plus their customer services is always top notch. I've used this takeaway for over 20 years and have never been disappointed.

Very lovely staff, food super delicious and screaming hot. Consistent, generous portions every time prepared quickly in a very clean kitchen. Highly recommended

Best Chinese takeaway I had in Reading. The food I had was amazing. Crispy chilli beef stays still crispy the next day. Beef Chow mein was delicious. I normally collect my food , so my order is usually ready within 10 minutes and the staff is amazing, helpful and friendly. It is not a restaurant, it is a takeaway, so I can't say much about the atmosphere. But I can see the kitchen from the pay counter. It looks very clean.

Quick, friendly reception, delicious food in large portion

Avoid, I have been going for 7yrs, but suddenly they reduced the portion... despite the increased price's.

My favourite Chinese take away 🥰 food is always delicious and the people that run out are always so lovely, polite and efficient. They are a happy bunch that work well together (hence the laughing - food made with happiness is always so much more delicious). Also love that they answer the phone "hello sunshine" 😃

Best Chinese in the area I am even asked by friends in Maidenhead to buy food from this takeaway when I visit them. Staff are all very warm and polite. If you hear laughing in the background which a review complained about it was probably the kitchen staff which is behind the reception. Anyway I would prefer to go to a place where the staff are happy.

Very good food and value for money.

Ordered a delivery. The food was excellent. Very polite on the phone and the delivery man was also very nice. The best Chinese I have ever had. If you do not try this Chinese you are missing out.

Sunshine Chinese is reliable for delivery and food is always very good.

I’ve been a very loyal and regular customer for many years. The food is fantastic albeit the most expensive in the area buy a long, long way. The service however is sometimes shocking with some of the staff being extremely rude. After my third attempt tonight at phoning in my order to be told each time to hold, I listened to the staff laughing in the background for several minutes before I hung up. I eventually gave up and went elsewhere. Sadly I will not be using Sunshine again. Fantastic food, very expensive, shocking service.

Nice Chinese takeaway this one. I'm not overly fussed with Chinese food but my wife likes it and actually this one is pretty good. Usually quick from placing the order, I always pick up and the people are nice. Will keep eating from here

Would normally rate 5 stars but last night the food was not as good! Ordered in person, had to wait 45mins, only live 5 mins away, the food wasn't very hot at all, most if it went in the bin 😠

Really really poor service Specifically requested for the mixed starter to be separated as a non meat eater and this was part of a shared meal with family and it wasn’t! When called was told to wait 1 hour for a new delivery despite having half an order Asked for a full refund and was declined- Really poor mistake and no satisfactory resolution will not be ordering again

Busy and friendly chinese takeaway. My personal favourite: Shredded Ch w/Chilli (77), Smoke Chicken, Salt & Pepper Ch Wings, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Chicken Balls, Chowmein and Salt & Pepper Chips. Fri and Sat can get really busy so I tend to collect in 20mins or prepare to wait around 1hour for delivery as they manage their own drivers. Worth the wait though.

Just had one of the worst meals ever. Most of it ended up in the bin 🙁

Food is nice, good standard Chinese

We really enjoy going to this Chinese its the best in Reading the prices are similar and competitive to.other Chinese in reading but unfortunately when we call and ask about prawn crackers we get told different prices each time.. 1st £40 spend for them free Then £25 then £20 then we ordered tonight and been told crackers aint free even over £40 now which is kind of annoying as its lying to customers so unfortunately we are going to stop using sunshine ...

Ordered over £40.00 worth of food the chicken satay skewers were just inedible ,in fact I didn’t think it was possible to get chicken so dry and awful , the staff are rude and arrogant , when they eventually answered the phone we were left waiting another 10 mins whilst they dealt with other customers . I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants , Kei,s being one of the best out there , sunshine being the worst I have encountered for many reasons , never again will I use sunshine Chinese takeaway , I would rather make a sandwich

A good Chinese, have been using for years on a regular basis. The level of chile heat in some dishes can be variable.

We love sunshine. Being out in the countryside, barely anyone delivers to us but sunshine ☀ do! And fast! They know my address from my number and the dishes are always piping hot when they arrive. Big portions and friendly staff. My go to take away. 😊

We've tried many of the local Chinese Take aways however always end up back at SunShine. Never fails to disappoint and food is always good.

Of all Chinese take aways in Reading this one is the best overall, food is consistently good and lots meat and colourful veg included. Delivery is always fast, under 20 mins usually. Chilli rice from here blows my head off...love it!!

Ordered a bbq rib and it took over 1 hour for food to arrive and the ribs weren’t even in a barbeque sauce and was covered in batter but had no meat just fat and bone my friend ordered the same and threw up after eating it shocking thing is that it charged me over £30

Good food but always delayed delivery. Staff are rude and unhelpful when questioned on why the food we ordered 2hrs ago is over an hour late.
