Sunny's Plaice in North Kesteven

i had a very bad experience at this place, the food was very overpriced and way to greasy, there were flys all over the place and there was fish left out on the counter UNCOVERED!! not all of the employees had their hair tied up/covered. i also saw one of the employees vaping outside of the shop which i also thought was very unhygienic. there was also no food hygiene rating on show which didn’t come as a surprise as it’s probably a 0!!!!!!!!!!

Bit shy on the large chips and the XL cod looks like it had been kicked across the kitchen. I had to keep writing to reach 100 characters..

I have been into Fish and chip shop for some supper, I was served by a young lady dark hair and glasses, I specifically requested only a small amount of salt and vinegar, the young lady had a large amount of rings on her fingers, bracelet and long false lacquered nails, I observed her selected fresh fish portions from packaging without gloves, which holds a risk of contamination from nails and jewelry , she then proceeded to come back to counter, wiped her face and then started serving customers, meanwhile a young male sorted my order, over kill with salt and vinegar to the extent, I could not eat my purchase, I will not be returning again, this was only my 3rd time of coming to the Metheringham shop, it's fine making staff wear caps on there heads, but what about physical contamination, Duty manager or Supervisor should have spotted this , I do not blame the young lady, if she does not know any better or has not been told standard health and safety rules, which I am sure this company will have in place, as the shop is a very clean and tidy establishment, all food cooked fresh, but this is a serious let down.

It's a good job my 9 yr old son realised there was 2 bones in his mouth from your cod before he swallowed and choked on them 😡

Don't ever go to this place for a donner kebab - truly appalling!!! 👹 Massive pile of processed meat in a horribly dry, crumbling pitta. No salad, no onions ......... etc.. So ridiculous - no pride in their food whatsoever, go somewhere else!!!!!!!!!!

We have had some really good meals from here, some distinctly average ones and some poor ones. Unfortunately today's was poor. We normally go same day and same time each week. Both quantity and quality vary so much.

Wanted a fish and chip lunch as going out later in the day. We've had good meals from here before but this was poor. The order was for a large skinless cod and large chips; the cod was no larger than their regular cod pieces and the portion of chips was also very much reduced by comparison with past visits. Main problem though was the fish - it was soggy, and had no real texture to it at all. No lovely big flakes of cod. Pretty sure the chips had been sitting around a while; they'd got that unmistakeable, soft, leathery kind of texture. As I said - disappointing. Out loss was our dog's gain.

Disclaimer: this is for the Sleaford branch but it doesn't show in the app. Constantly spot on. Only 10/10 I'd give amongst all of the takeaways inside 20 miles.

Given wrong order again !!! Have been a loyal Customer for years, but this place has gone downhill. Items missing, salt and vinegar request often wrong too. When we visit it is quiet, so no excuses !! High prices for not recieving the food that you paid for. Not intrested when you do complain. Poor Customer Service. Staff ignorant. They do not value your custom and no longer care about keeping their regular customers. We will not be visiting this establishment again.

used before a few times, food ok, portion sizes dropped on last visit, slow as hell on walk in orders with ignorant staff focusing on take away orders while you stand there wondering where your food is. didnt get what i ordered just close and 17 pounds for a large small kebab and two chips is extortion, no sanitiser anywhere either was bland and pretty tasteless, with two other chip shops on the village and other take away options this is one i won't use again

Had a quick stop at this Chippy, And oh my goodness what a pleasurable expeience, The chips were cooked to perfection, and the fish was some of the best fish we have ever tasted. This is obviously a popular Chippy as the footfall was constant. And no wonder if this is the calibre of cooking that you can expect. I give this a brilliant rating of 10 stars. So much so that we are going to go back again. And if we get the same qulity of food again we will be going back again, We may try the one at Bardney. David Asplin

Unfortunately when I took collection of my order and drove home the bag was missing the pineapple fritters I had paid for.

We had been loyal customers for ages but the food has really gone downhill! After our last order we will definitely not be ordering from them again, we ordered a large chicken meat and chips with salad, a large mixed kebab with cucumber and a large donner kebab with salad. The pita bread was crispy and the portions miserly. I dread to think what the small portions would have been. And to top it off had to wait 1 1/2 hours for it to be delivered.

my first visit . the food was cooked to order .. top quality .. the staff polite and friendly . first class service ............. recommend to all . and good size portion of food

the mobile van Is due between 19.15 and 20.00 so I turned up at 19.45 and waited until 20.15 whereby I phoned the shop to be told the van had left early but I was welcome to drive to the shop, If I wanted to go to the shop I wouldn't of waited for the van.

The fish and chips are great but when you pay top price for it I don’t expect to wait 35 minutes for my meal and watch it sit boxed up on the hot plate waiting for chips for 9 minutes getting soggy and cold. Must do better or I will go else where

The food is absolutely fantastic but I am seriously thinking if giving up on this place because of the chaotic and unfriendly service. The last 2 times I phoned in a simple 3 item order, they messed up and kept me waiting. They employ clueless teenaged girls behind the counter...i did not enjoy one sharply telling a family who asked for some ketchup “you’ll have to pay for that”. Please concentrate a bit harder and show some appreciation of your customers.

Traditional fayre very good tasty and hot however I was disappointed that the chicken kebab was not freshly cooked and on a roll like a donna, I would not chose this again Angel's freshly cook it . Which I prefer

lovely fish and chips,very clean premises staff friendly but found young staff do not listen to orders correctly and mistakes being made,young staff need better training and be efficient otherwise worth trying out

Sunny's haddock is just sublime, the batter is crispy and always cooked to perfection. One portion of chips is more than enough for two, because the fish is in a box for taking out, it does not go soggy.

Hadn’t ever experienced an issue with this place until one evening. Had some overcooked fish. Couldn’t eat it so returned it was that bad. There was a queue behind me and the male owner was very rude claiming if wasn’t overbooked (it was dry and hard)He was totally out of order. I don’t care if he had had a day. Shouldn’t talk to customers like that. Rude. Will never return.

Popped in for sausage and chips on way home from Lincoln. Sausage ok but chips were very dry and tasted of stale oil. Curry sauce also lumpy and seperating with an oily film on top. Overall very underwelmed.

We had Mini Fish and Chips with Mushy Peas which were freshly cooked. The quality was excellent and just the right size for us and a very reasonable price. The Staff were very helpful and friendly and we were able to eat in the very clean sit down section although we had arrived just before closing time,

Ordered a takeaway with family. Specifically asked for sauce in takeaway, none provided. Asked for items to be wrapped separately as for different people, not done. Food very dry.

The fish and chips is good, not greasy like in many around the local area. The service is good, fast and they accept card payments, which very few fish & chips do here.

Walking into this cold feeling chippy, you'd forget what was here before it.Cheap tables and chairs, weird led lighting and not a single greeting when walking in. We had Haddock and Chips - very standard, a bit on the greasy side but edible.

Eaten in sunny’s in heckington and Sleaford. Fish always cooked fresh and any other items you want you ask for and cooked for you there and then. Best chippy in Sleaford. Will always go there if at all possible

We were eager to try the fish & chips on offer at Sunny's, after the excellent Codskitchen closed its doors we were worried as the other chip shops in the village serve absolute dross! Sunny's did not dissapoint! Excellent fresh quality fish & chips and great service! Well done! I'm sure you will do very well

I’d been meaning to go the the same place but then it closed down. Thought we will stop on way home there chips are gluten free but can only do non battered fish. Won’t be going again. North Hykehams gluten free fish and chips are amazing went there instead.

Our first visit to this chip shop which took over from the late, lamented, Codskitchen. It's very good. Generous portions, the fish was lovely, great batter, chips might possibly have been allowed another minute in the fryer, but certainly good anyway. We don't often go out for fish'n'chips but today had been a day of decorating so it seemed like the thing to do.
