Game Keeper in North Kesteven

I am allergic to Garlic and often struggle to find things to eat in restaurants. The staff here were so friendly, they checked through ingredients and even offered to tweak the menu to make me something. Even though the pub is a Hungry Horse, the staff made it feel like a local, rather than a franchise.

Sadly the wacky warehouse, a small but full featured soft play area has now closed permanently, apparently. My child had a lot of fun there in a safe space that was never overcrowded. The staff were always excellent and welcoming. Shame that there are fewer options for places like this now.

Wouldn't return very understaffed one young man doing orders to eat and also the bar for drinks absolute chaos. Took 15 mins in a queue of 3 people to take my order. However, all 4 of our group wanted good old fish and chips only to be told they had run out. So, back to the table to select a different mea,l went to order again taking the menu just in case and we were now 9th in a row to the one boy on the till. It took us a whole hour to order and receive our replacement meal.

Only been here for drinks after work. The staff are on the ball. 👍👍

After a horrendous 7 hour drive, courtesy of storm Babet, our welcome was warm and the food was fresh and hot ‚pub grub’. The staff were so lovely we returned for lunch the next day and then breakfast. Thank you so much the staff and food were so much better than the hotel next door!

If you like curry soup,this is the place ,watery and very unappetising , disappointed .

The mega breakfast and the super breakfast were both really good. To improve there could have been a better quality sausage and a runny egg yolk. The smash Mac (I think it's called) wasn't too great the cheese was cheap and tasted very vinegary. The egg wasn't runny and for a breakfast item it didn't feel very 'breakfasty'.

A very nice place, it was a problem trying to find a table for five people. Great food and a good service.

Came here for a birthday meal for a table of 9, the service was disgusting. The older blonde lady who gave us our table was throughout rude and deliberately infront of the young birthday girl which was upsetting. She appeared to be the only one without her name badge showing but the attitude given by her did really make a negative difference to the meal. Unmannered , spoken and pointed at us with other colleagues and just unprofessional. Food and drinks was manageable, small portions for the price. Expected better. Thank you.

I have been coming here for the past month the food and service has been lovely , breakfast is beautiful and the staff are all lovely and very friendly . If your in the area try the super special breakfast you won’t be disappointed

It's a shame that the children's soft play area is nothing short of filthy dirty. Childrens' equipment, those items l saw, were grubby and un hygienic. Food was poor.

We took our grandchildren to the attached play area. The air quality was quite poor. Old and un-hygenic. The first impression of cleanliness was 2/10. Untidy, tables with food and plates that were left from previous customers. Table tops with smears from inept cleaning skills. The floor was slippery by our table. We asked for it to be cleaned. The young lady obliged. She stated her work colleague had slipped there earlier ! I noticed that staff did not wash their hands after clearing away tables, handling equipment nor after cleaning the floor for us. The children's ball pit edge was so badly worn and old. It certainly didn't look clean. The balls in the pit were "dirty" dirt marks and smeared with a build up of dirt. I wonder how long it has been since they had been washed ? Before leaving, l scanned the whole area. Its just dirty and unclean. I cant imagine biologically how unclean it really is. Please reconsider before taking your children here. The owners and management need to be bought to book over the condition and un-hygenic condition this area is.

Food is always good here. We're there about once a month at least now. Service is always with a smile.

Lovely polite service but food was not really nice.

My wife and her friend go here every week with their children. Our children love the soft play and the breakfasts are good.

Food was good as far as pub food goes. Staff were great with clearing the table and getting food orders correct and out on time. Think they're too used to bad customers though and seem a tad hard faced. Toilet checks in the men's hadn't been done since 12 noon on the 9th September 2023, tables should've been wiped down too, they were a tad sticky.

Been calling here on our travels has been very good for 3 / 4 times but few weeks ago we called in and the breakfast wasn’t great. Might try somewhere else next time.

Went for lunch time no mushrooms no chicken wings as a starter we was told but when main meal came it had wings and we saw other meals with them on. Waited extra 10 min for jacket potato. Did not enjoy our meal and won't be back.

I can't complain about the Gamekeeper! We always have a lovely meal when we come and staff are so welcoming and kind. The kids play area really tops it all off for my little one, he loves it

Went there to watch the World Cup final and had breakfast. The service was quick. Staff helpful and their breakfast was lovely. The food and drinks were definitely value for money. Will be a returning customer for sure.

Two of us came on Tuesday about 6 pm. It was quiet, and we chose a booth quite near the garden door. The food was good. We had Tesco vouchers to use, and for years I’ve used them for meals in various restaurants - usually a very slow process, with staff seemingly not understanding the system. However,Paula , who took our order was ,great, in-putting the codes very speedily. And advising on which value ones would be best to use, so that we didn’t spend more of them than we needed. She was helpful, friendly and very efficient.

The worst roast dinner I have ever had served! It was so small I had to ask if it was a kids portion as there were a few scraps of meat that were inedible and was chewy gristle and looked more like shoe leather, two marble sized potatoes, non existent cauliflower and raw carrots! It was so bad I would not even serve it to my dog! What makes it worse I had to wait 1 hour for it to be served. It gets a one start review because I can’t give it zero stars! If they had run out of meat and veg they should have been honest and said so and I would have chosen something else from the menu.

Overall good quality however I feel there should be more menu options. Windmill Farm (another local Greene King) has a lot more menu options and also has a carvery. Personally I feel those additional menu options should be introduced into this establishment as it will give customers more menu choices, especially as there is no carvery option here. However the staff have always been friendly and polite when I have visited and the desserts are amazing.

Served my breakfast missing 3 out of 5 of the items (bacon,hashbrown,tomatoes) given a about 2 spoons full of mac & cheese with a overcooked egg , waiting staff did bring back something wich actually resembled the picture of what I ordered, this time with a practically raw egg on top. And Didnt have what my partner wanted to order. Had to wait to order when it was empty, then served something that just took the complete mick , hungry horse are trying to provide unique breakfasts and are employing staff who can't even cook an egg and think its exceptable to palm a customer off with 40% of a dish, the server was nice and tried to resolve the issue , I have eaten here before and had a good experience but won't go back and will advise anyone looking for a decent breakfast or lunch to go to the garden center instead

Great food and prices, nicely set out pub

My wife and I came for a meal for the first time on Saturday Evening. The food is typical pub grub and you get what you pay for but for the price of it the food was lovely. There were a couple of items of food that weren't avaliable but staff were more than helpful in offering alternative options with us. I would defiantly visit again when we want a quick, easy, not to fancy meal.

Awful food. Much of the menu is not available at 6 pm on a Saturday. A pile of overcooked frozen chips isn't a good meal. For a Green King pub, they don't sell their ales. One to avoid. McDonald's is over the road!

Good food and service, just wish other patrons would remember that not everyone wants to listen to their kids having a tantrum. In other news, the pub classics are a great value meal at 2 for less than £12.

Don't understand why staff was eating in the main area, 1 person serving yet more staff tables then paying customers. The food was OK but it has gone down hill since my last visit.

Ordered fish and chips told no fish so ordered scampi and chips twice having waited 15 mins finally arrived. Scampi just warm chips and peas cold ,sent them back 10 minutes later they arrived back still no warmer told lady who served us all she did was apologise no refund or even a coffee went to toilet even there in poor state would not recommend this to anybody

Friendly hospitable staff. Reasonable priced food and drink served quickly and of good quality. Always visit when in the area, never fails to deliver.

Had a lovely meal with friends to celebrate my birthday. Took the two kiddies with us so they could have a play in the wacky warehouse. I recommend you book the warehouse in advance as the tables are used for meals as well. We were told that the soft play was fully booked, and there were no tables available. As I was explaining to a friend in the restaurant part. A nice staff member called Garry explained to the staff member in the wacky warehouse that we didn't need a table to eat and just wanted the kids to play and was allowed in. Thank you, garry, for your help. You're a 🌟

We all had a lovely lunch here today as a walk in of 5 and a baby. Every staff member was so polite and friendly, super attentive and helpful. Shout out to the girl in the striped shirt behind the bar, she was really funny and super nice to talk to! (We discussed accents haha) and the guy with the curly hair who went to the kids play area to find my sister and her baby to let them know their food was ready to eat. Everything was a really great price and the food was amazing from portion to presentation. Thanks so much guys 🥹❤️

A group of 5 walkers had lunch 4 curries 1 all day breakfast. Staff very welcoming and helpful. No doubt we will visit again for further walks.

Food is dire. Sunday dinner came without some key components and was luke warm at best. Ate it because I was starving but it was awful. Would rather have gone to mcdonalds over the road. The only reason I've given this two stars is the soft play area is excellent. If you're coming just to eat, don't.

Lovely breakfast and great value!

Amazing time at the gamekeeper. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming eventhough it was really busy! Food came out really quick and tasted amazing. My partner had the mixed grill and his steak was cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef, we will definitely be returning again soon!

After several visits, I find the food not very hot.

Worst experience of my life the women in the wacky warehouse was rude to us refused to seat us after saying she could the manager was understanding but felt like the customer service wasn’t great highly wouldn’t recommend going here

Well what can i say twice in the last 2 days i can only says hopeless. First time didnt get in because stopped at door because both chefs on a break so no one to cook food Today went there to be stopped again as if you didnt have table booked you couldnt go in. Vacant tables everywhere. Been going there twice a week now for months and wont be going back. Has for the rude woman today whom just might have thought she was important as a possible manager. Im lost for words as she was sat next to me 2 days ago eating her lunch. Funny how they forget the customers who pay there wages. Anyway i wont be coming back and i will advise friends and family also to avoid. Good riddens Rude, people have no place in hospitality You might realise you got an amazing rating prior as i have been going there for years. Adios

Came on Saturday at 2pm asked for a table for 8 people and was told we couldn’t be seated (the pub was empty) was happy to split the table for 2 four seaters and was told no our staff are going on breaks we can’t put 8 meals through now. If you don’t serve between certain times it should be advertised. We were told we could get a drink then told we couldn’t coz we wasn’t eating 🤷🏼‍♀️ got a drink in the end and left to go to another pub/restaurant where we had no problems what so ever.

I recently visited this pub restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious and enjoyable, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The staff were extremely friendly and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed (Sunday night), making it the perfect place for a casual dinner or a night out with friends/family. I was pleasantly surprised by the great value for money, especially with the deals offered throughout the week. I particularly enjoyed the Mix it up menu section, thought the portion size was good and the desserts were simply fantastic. Overall, I highly recommend this pub restaurant for anyone looking for a decent dining experience with quick service.

Wacky warehouse Great idea poorly executed. Arrived at 17:30 for tea (note closing at 19:00). Drinks: 2 pints of coke and a coffee. Nope. 1.5 pints of coke split over 2 glasses and no coffee because they had cleaned the machine. So if you are a coffee drinking driver then get there early and bulk buy. Food: full selection was not available and what I expected from a kids soft play centre (i have low expectations) but i would have thought it would have exceed because its attached to the game keeper. Staff: mixed feelings. One was super enthusiastic and really when for the up sell and play pass. The other didn't want to be there and had no interest in customer service (this is the one that informed me they had just cleaned the machine). I think that we won't be going back with the kids.

Have just stopped for dinner in the game keep in South Hykeham after 3 hour drive we were welcome by the lovely staff who were all smiles and laughing which was nice, we have just finished our dinner and all I can say is the food was amazing lovely and hot

My steak should have been medium came well done, all the food was only warm not hot subsequently my food before finishing was cold and so where the other 2 meals, normally we go fairly regular and i have no complaints, so I will give them the benefit this time and excuse them as they were busy

Pub chain grub, but unlike at the the farmhouse in Scunthorpe, (which is the same chain), this place had an atmosphere. Ordered 2 steaks and unlike at the Farmhouse, these were really nice and didn't require a chainsaw. Paid more at other pubs for steak meals and not enjoyed as much as this. Thanks

Mini mixed grill meat was over cooked and tough

Called on off chance of getting a table on a foggy journey home for tea. Wont bother again roast carvery almost as cold as we were and the temperature in the room. The beef almost microwaved to cardboard.not good

Not very impressed this time. Although only a Monday evening and not at all busy, our food took a long time to come. 3 of our 4 meals weren't very warm, the lettuce on the 4th was passed its best ,limp,and bruised. ( I wouldn't have fed it to my rabbits). No one came to ask if our meal was ok. Or even to clear our table once finished . We've eaten here many times and always been more than happy . Unfortunately the service and food this time wasn't great.
