I've been a customer of sunnys for many years but that stopped in a moment that made me question even eating out again. Whilst waiting for my Haddock to cook? (Served by older guy) This young assistant was stood in in the middle of the floor, picking his nose, a good old pick too..When he realised I was sat down, he rushed to the back in embarrassment and washed his hands.. and stayed out of view. I would feel a young adult would of been able to resist the urge to use ones own bare hands to pick his nose but.... Never eat from this place it should be shut down. If the owners want to challenge this review please feel free to ask him about this and check your cameras.

During a recent trip to Bournemouth, I visited this place and was surprised by the shockingly small portion of their "large" cod and chips. Not sure these guys have heard rationing ended in the 1950s. Despite the portion size, the food was tasty. The staff were polite once I approached them. Next time, I’d probably try somewhere else, as war time rations dont really seem worth it for the price you pay.

Cash only place and does not specify anywhere until you walk inside. We walked few minutes down the road to another one who took card payments.

This was an unexpected find.....don't go by the outside looks because the fish and chips were lovely all cooked fresh to order batter really light and crispy definitely recommend.....we are not local but if in area again we will definitely eat here again

There is a couple of tables and chairs but I took my food to takeaway. Absolutely delicious and good value too. The battered cod was tasty; batter was crispy and the flesh of the fish soft and unctuous. Defo worth it. Really sweet young man behind the counter serving.

Travelled for a weekend in Bournemouth and discovered this place, very tasty and fresh fish and chips. The staff looked after us and I recommend you get your beach day lunch or dinner from here!

Lovely fish and chips and very friendly staff. I had the fish and chips and my girls had the chicken nugget kids meal. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and they even threw in some sauce for free.

Always come here after an hours drive as it was always lovely , this time it saddens me to say was awful , scabby greasy chips fish cake was ok won’t be returning

I have to sadly say this is by far the worst fish and chips I have experienced. The food was a complete sloppy mess, the fish was very small for a large portion and the pea fritter was pure slop as were the chips It was also very expensive on par with chez Fred which is miles apart. I will never use this place or recommend

Highly Recommend Sunny's!! We ordered 25 meals for our staff party evening on the beach at the Pier View Room - all arrived hot, fresh, correct and delivered to us on time! Everyone loved it from fish to burgers, pies, fishcake and sausages - Jo was amazing helping with our order in advance and even came to the rescue with vinegar after we forgot to take ours on the day! We've used Sunny's as a family in the past and always very good, great value too :-)

Down in Bournemouth for a few days and chose this based on Trip Advisor reviews and a 5 * Scores on the Doors. And we were very pleased with our choices. Hot tasty food and very friendly service. Fish cooked to order and fairly priced.

Love fish and chips shop. Fish was perfectly cooked and the chips fluffy and soft. They also kindly fried our fish separately for us as we asked for halal options. Very kind staff and will come again.

Visiting from Buckinghamshire and I have to say this is THE best fish and chips I have EVER tasted. The cod was succulent, not too much batter. Chips crispy and full. 1/2 burger was amazing. Curry sauce, very tasty. Onion rings were cooked just right Thankyou!!

We've been using Sunny's take away for many years but tonight was definitely our last time. Here is my order Vege burger with BBQ sauce and no onion. People working there were so busy talking/planning their evening,they forgot to put most of the ingredients in...I even found out, the owner is currently in Turkey. Perhaps that's the reason. What a shame, as it used to be a lovely place to eat, always busy, always friendly.

The guys in there always give a standard cod when asked for mini cod even when I made a point "mini cod" and get charged for it... but the girls are absolutely fantastic allways have a great time chatting leave smiling and always with the right food... well done girls 😊

Constantly the best fish and chips. The Cod is Cod, Haddock is Haddock, not replacement versions. Their chips are always good with no scraggy end's. I have a friend who drives down from Ringwood as their quality is outstanding.

Yesterday, myself and my family had the pleasure of getting our fish and chips lunch from Sunnys. We were welcomed by two friendly gentlemen who were extremely helpful. Halal friendly fish and chips ...a rarity which tasted good!

Food amazing and prices are ok. The only problem I have is that staff chatting to much rubbish and not paying attention what customers say. It's already hapen 3 times when I ask no salt and vinegar ( kids will eat ) and lady done it anyway. When I went home I was really annoyed!!!

3 times now I have asked for the mini fish and chips and each time they have been evasive and then given me the small fish and a portion of chips which costs more. This is has happened with at least 2 different staff which makes me think it is a ploy. I won't be going there again which is a shame as they are local to me and the food is always cooked well.

I had regular cod with large chips - the portion sizes were perfect, big enough fish and definitely plenty of chips with a large portion. Was looking for a fish n chips shop that fried fish and chips separately and didn't use beef dripping. Had to wait because it was being freshly fried . Decent portion size and tasted so good . Only had 3 tables luckily one was free which was handy. If passing or visiting Bournemouth this place must be tried .

Superb fish but let down by the portion size of chips. Nice fresh haddock with a crunchy but not oily batter. However for a large portion of chips I felt a bit disappointed with the portion size. However maybe I was just really hungry.

Last night at 20:50 my husband ordered fish, chips & mushy peas for us both and paid £20!!! I was shocked at the price to start with. We only live two minutes away and the food was cold when we got home. The enormous portion of dried up shrivelled cold chips were the worst chips I’ve ever had, the mushy peas were so watered down they were just green liquid. The fish was a decent size but very dry, obviously had been cooked long before we ordered it. It was by far the worst fish and chips we have ever had. We have been to Sunny’s on many occasions and been satisfied with the food but this time it was a complete waste of £20! I wonder if they have changed hands? We certainly won’t be going there again.

We were in the area with our Scout Group and speculatively called Sunny's for an order (for 32 people) for the group -- the food was fantastic, piping hot and and the service was amazing ! Would highly recommend -- especially to Scout groups having Chips by the pier at Boscombe !

Super tasty find, close to the seafront! We were looking for a chippie that would be HALAL compliant and this amazing place delivered. They fry in peanut oil and will fry the fish separately to any meat products on request. Don’t waste time looking for the Fish and chip Plaice, which comes up on TA reviews for halal chippies- doesn’t exist anymore. Changeover in owners and no longer halal. Sunny’s delivers the goods and staff couldn’t have be more accommodating!

On the 24th of July 2023 I remembered that this chop shop sold my favorite chip shop vinegar, so I decided to pay them a visit as I'd run out and previously remembered the delicious fish and chips I had from them before. When I got there I had forgotten that they only take cash, I needed £2.50. I looked in my bag but only found £1.20. The absolute gentleman sold me the bottle for that price. 🥰

Very good place for fresh food, brilliant service

Been here several times and quality and portions top notch. Only minor criticism is that there are clearly a lot of regulars and I have felt on occasion that they get priority, extending my wait times. I understand why. I've read the recent reviews and there are a lot of 5 star as i would expect. There are also a fair few 1 star reviews which look bogus to me, and I suspect some are written by the same sad person. Don't be put off, try for yourself.

Come back 'sunny ' unfortunately the business has suffered since it was sold , new owners nice enough but food quality has gone down , prices gone up its just not anywhere near the standard it was when it was truly owned by sunny. Beans more juice than beans same with watered down peas , fish greasy batter not good , chips just ordinary, poor quality sausages , they should change the name because it just ain't sunnys anymore.

This is one of the best fish and chip shops I've ever been to, and I'm lucky enough for it to be within a couple of minutes walk from my house. In the last 18 years that I've been going there, I have never had cause to complain about anything. Sunny and his staff are experts at cooking fish and chips, they use top quality ingredients and their batter is always cooked to perfection. Long may they continue to be my local chippie!

Update after a long time away from 23/04/2023 So you guys raised up the prices and dropped the quality. A few minutes ago I ordered a large cod with large fries to take away and received 2 pieces of cod small/reg and mini cod also not fresh chips in reg size... The legend Sunny’s quality has gone irremediably...

Stayed two nights in Bournemouth for a little beach getaway and both nights we dined here. Amazingly friendly guys, brilliant portion sizes and 10/10 quality taste wise, my friends absolutely loved the fishcakes too! Whenever we visit Bournemouth again, were dining at Sunny's!

tried to have a “tasty” cheeky meal to end the night shift and was appalled at the sights i saw at the opening of the polystyrene box! a fat and skinny horse leg put into it was green chips!!! i think the hell not i’m disgusted ! sally was serving me this and was as good as gold handling my review but i threw it back at her ( bruising her left cheek ) ! sunny please do better in the fishing world. will not be returning.

Was fancying a nice meal from the chippy… A nice piece of cod to end my night. So I thought to myself, let me try something new. Let me give Sunny’s the benefit of the doubt. Worst mistake of 2023. I opened the box to be drowned with an instant wave of regret. A stench hit me square in the face. It filled my nostrils and I could not get rid of it. The thing Sunny’s calls a “cod” was a lump of craperoonie and a half! I cannot believe this. I decided to not even try a bite of that thing. However, I broke it in half to check for others’ safety… AND DROPPED IT AND RAN AWAY. I saw maggots slivering and squirming around in the cod I paid for with my hard earned money. Never coming back again. Would NOT recommend. Repent from this place. Shut it down.

The most awful, rude & ignorant 'staff' i have ever had the misfortune 2 be refused 2 be served by (apparently i did not know the difference between a pescetarian & a vegetarian). I was virtually chased from this establishment whilst being verbally abused. I had ridden my e-scooter quickly 2 this establishment (on a cold evening) & arrived bright eyed & bushy tailed with a slightly runny nose. I was told there was no food at all & "Look at the state of ya..." was 1 of the comments. This was totally unacceptable behaviour from said 'staff' & it needs 2 be addressed immediately. If the owners or senior management are reading this: sunday 5th of march 2023 at @ 22:10 hrs was whence this incident happened. I do not recommend or endorse this place (no pun intended, could not get any anyway), hence this review.
