Omg what can I say , no draft soft drinks , no chicken for a chicken meal lol , you couldn’t hear the quiz above the loudness of the tv the app service absolutely terrible went to the bar twice which was empty and still didn’t get them , the staff are bloody useless slumped over beer pumps watching the football . Only highlight of the evening , seeing the gorgeous Jordan trying his best to carry on . Won’t recommend anc won’t return for the quiz night .

Hugo made our family experience a great one by providing great service for an order with a few specific changes and always making sure we had everything we needed for a great time :) will be visiting again very soon.

Went to a fun disco they had on there we had a good time it was a surprise as we hadn’t seen that they had it on Facebook

Whilst trying to enjoy our afternoon/evening, it was a little hard with the drunken fool of a Landlord. Trying to pick arguments with the customers whilst clearly drunk is not the best approach to run a pub and apparently this is not the first time. Not interested in the local community, he would rather try to fight everyone and drink whenever possible whilst the staff pick up the pieces. Rebecca had to difuse the situation, not for the first time recently whilst this Idiot Gary is happy to down spirits and insult everyone. Not a great place to be whilst he is in the building. Credit to the rest of the staff for trying their best and putting up with this moron. Probably won't come back until he's gone which is becoming a very common opinion

Unable to get questions answered by phone - left message and still no response. ( wanted info Re bringing dog and quiz times ) . Table was reserved with 4 of us wanting food and to do quiz on the booking . Table was super sticky and all of us were getting clothes stuck on it! There were persistent flies ( fruit flies?) around us all night . ( incidentally they were there also the week before when we visited) Unable to order on app , many of the weds special items were saying out of stock . So we ordered at the bar ( much easier - and all items were available) Friendly and nice bar staff . Unable to take part in quiz as planned , as cash only was needed ( we did not know this and wish we had been told on booking). So we left earlier than planned . Food was ok . This is a local pub for us and we really do want to continue to support it . But the cleanliness felt a bit off today..

A lovely meal here and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Matthew who help me decide what burger to have I had the cowboy burger and it was very nice and I got 30% off with a voucher that came through my door

food very disappointing bitter burnt grill taste on all 3 burger we ordered, greasy onion rings, awful oil taste, chicken wings no sauce not very hot, staff seemed bored unfriendly, unattentive had to repeat drink order 3 times to clarity what size drink lemonade with blackcurrant x2 and a cider with blackcurrant should not have been a challenge, ladies toilets also smelt unclean and damp had not been for over a year gave it another chance to leave disappointed again

I ordered the steak, which was cooked nicely, and my friend had a gammon steak .. however this was a bit unimpressive, as it was quite a small gammon comparative to mine. The food service was also a bit slow, despite there being barely anyone else eating sadly, so we only got served about 8:25pm, having arrived 7:35pm. I would like the staff to be more prompt and the timeliness improved.

Friendly and approachable lady who served us at our table so that we didn't need to go to order at the bar which was great. Quick svs with drinks and a great choice of food. The food was tasty and hot when it arrived.

Food was 10/10 and loved seeing the chef come out of the kitchen and chat to us about the food and his name is jack!

Food mediocre 😕 The ladies toilets are in a disgusting state...behind the door is absolutely filthy,behind loo,with added green bogger stuck to wall tile🤢..infact the whole bathroom needs attention ... I dread to think what the kitchens like! Pull your socks up guys!

Great pub food, a proper family local that survives while many other pubs close for sad redevelopment. Book a table to guarantee a meal if you want to eat, it's very popular. Back again for lovely fish and chips 👍

We booked early for a family meal on Christmas Eve. We got there and it was very busy as expected and our table was still in use but was cleared quickly by staff and we sat down. And there we sat for 40 minutes, nobody came to speak to us, they knew we were there as they had seen us to our table. Eventually we walked out as it was so busy we couldn’t even catch the eye of the guy who was rushing in and out of the kitchen. This is a locals pub, we’ve eaten there many times and the food is good hearty pub grub and I don’t want to take away from that. I think maybe the issue lies with not having enough staff to manage on a busy night. Being completely ignored for that long, especially on a special occasion like Christmas Eve when you’re relying on the meal as a treat for your family was really disappointing.

Booked Xmas eve arrived on time eventually seated completely ignored for 40 mins and so left Very noising with unruly kids shouting on a nearby table Barman was pleasant and efficient but the restaurant was a complete disappointment Shame used to be really good.

I held my slimming world Christmas meal here for a party of 24 and every thing from start to finish was fabulous the tables were decorated nicely. The food was piping hot and of good quality. The staff were excellent and done a very, very good job. We enjoyed very much the karaoke afterwards and would love to see more of those in the future overall 10 out of 10 thank you so much and see you soon Jenny slimming world

Absolutely lovely, nice atmosphere, Kat and sonny made the meals to perfection, highly recommend the food, the southern fried chicken birger was superb. The bar staff, including jordan , Millie and Nicole were very Accommodating. 5/5 will be here again 😊

Went here in December and Jess was superb as our server. The Christmas menu was fantastic and the pint she poured me was FANTASTIC. BEST pub in Bournemouth (that isn't a spoons) would recommend to any weary travellers on the road.

Rather noisy "restaurant" as it was right by the bar. The food was okay but not good ambience. There was also a yapping dog in the restaurant which didn't help.

Ok, but dirty gents toilets let the pub down. Also, there was an unpleasant "whiff" which hit me as I entered the near empty pub this Wednesday afternoon, which IMO was possibly coming from the glass machine and its associated drains. No Carlsberg Pilsner (Out of Stock), though I ordered Fosters (£4.30) so didn't affect me (but it did for other incoming customers who were ordering it). Also, a few "fruit" flies in evidence flying around at the bar by the beer taps. Oh dear. Was tempted to use my 30% Off mains food voucher today before it expires, but was put off by the aforementioned. Went home to eat instead, and the voucher got binned. Good service, but when the pub is very quiet, this should come as an absolute standard when two staff are working. Overall, a bit disappointing, especially when there have been many 5 star reviews posted recently. Hopefully, there will be an improvement when I pop back in sometime in 2025.

Good honest pub grub. Well presented and great flavour.

I thought I'd try something different and turn up for the locals dart tournament, what a mistake !! I normally use the lounge area, but this was in the small bar which I try to avoid but I thought I'd see what it was about as I enjoy darts. It was full of what I can only describe as the worst of society, drug dealers and users.... A loud mouth was quite happy to talk about his drug taking with his pals as if it was normal and then passing something between them , if trying to be secret with what you're doing, take off your fluorescent coat to avoid the attention, let alone the obvious 1 in 1 out of the small toilet ! . I've seen this pub degrade over the last few years and the drugs culture here is now taking over and the worse it is becoming . It's about time the landlord got a grip on this and stopped choosing to ignore it . I know drugs are supposedly everywhere but it's about time someone took some action and protected what are our precious local community pubs that are left .
