My wife and I both had King Prawn Foo Yung and a portion of egg fried rice. Looked good, tasted of absolutely nothing!!! Prawns like chewing cardboard, gave most of it to the dog. Never again.

best Chinese takeaway I have been to, especially the ribs. There were five of us, including non meat eaters and they found the prawn dish they had very good. We also had the special fried rive and chow mein. Shame they are too far away for delivery.

Just had a takeaway from sunny in holt never again chicken slimmy and not cooked chips like cardboard rice stogey and full of grease waste of money over 60pounds just for food to end up in the bin

Some takeaways skimp on ingredients with an established client base, but not Sunny. Every meal choice is sumptuously filled with high-quality ingredients, steaming hot, and perfectly cooked. Sunny is the best.

This was my second visit to this takeaway. We chose the vegetarian set meal and it did not disappoint. It was both tasty, plentiful and reasonably priced. I will be visiting again. Thank you.

Our second visit to Holt and the Sunny Chinese is a must (also because it's the only Chinese in the village!) The food is good, and it does get busy at weekends. They could do with an extra member of staff front of house as the sole lady had to juggle between phone and physical customers. We enjoyed our food and the meat portions are generous.

Truly awful food. If you have expectations for anything nice or anything resembling Chinese food, you should really try elsewhere. Not many options in Holt for Chinese so I’d suggest you go for fish and chips ( Eric’s is brilliant) or the Indian - not brilliant but a darn sight nicer than Sunny Chinese.

Been going to the Sunny Take Away since the Eighties when my late mother Carol used to go to the now defunct Bingo Hall in Peacock Lane! I now live in Holt the place i was born in 56 years ago so ill be using SUNNY TAKE AWAY again!

Not good. Sloppy MSG. Every dish looked the same. Synthetic flavours. Left a dish out of our order too. Expected better from Holt.

Always good food. We like the salt and pepper chips, crispy chilli beef, curry sauce, mushroom chow mien, mini veg spring rolls and prawn toast. Just be prepared to wait a while as popular on weekends and always ring and order ahead.

Cold soggy chips, glutenous S&S sauce, Nice Satay and Chicken balls. Hideous wait when collecting in a very small area and lots of confusion with orders stacking up. Won’t bother again as many better in the area.

Feeding a family of 6 was made easy from the choices available. All ready in the time promised, all hot, well packed and presented hardly any left!

if u think u are getting a lovely chinese meal forget it un less you like cold greasy food as thats what we got i ordered a mixed meat curry 3 small bits of meat load of uncooked large onion pieces curry sauce no flavour just grease which i cant do chips cold tasted like they been reheated tasted like cardboard noodles really greasy most got put in bin never again

We ordered a takeaway for pick up, it was ready on time and nice and hot. Portion sizes are very good. The mushroom chow mein in particular was delicious!

The food was hideous. I’ve eaten in lots of Chinese takeaways and this one has got to serve some of the worst I’ve tried. DON’T WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

As others have mentioned the curry doesn’t have much taste. Ask to have it hotter and an extra £1 gets added to the total. I understand they charge this for ANY variation.

Ordered a Duck curry, got an extruded chicken curry. Tasteless non meat. The food has been better here for a while but 5his was really really poor tonight. Could have phoned to complain, but I’m now settled in for a nice evening. Looks like I’m going to have to go elsewhere again, should have known it was too good to be true, a leopard doesn’t change it ps spots…

We have ordered many things from the menu over the years, and although chicken chow mein, chips & gravy remains my favourite, whatever we have is always hot and delicious. The staff on the desk are polite and multi-task on a new level. Order from here and you won’t be disappointed.

We were staying at the nearby Wood Farm Barns and found this to be the only local Chinese in the area! It's a good job the food is good then. We ordered on a Friday evening and collected 15 minutes later. Everything we had exceeded our expectations and it was a very enjoyable meal. Prices are very good too.

Menu looked interesting with many choices. Called in our order and got a 75min wait (ok, it was Saturday). Walked down to collect and waited 10mins. Strange to see a sign saying that they had walk in Customers, so orders might be delayed. I though as I had ordered it might be ready. Walked back to find one dish we had not ordered and one missing. Called up and was told they would replace. Walked down again and when I got there it was clear nothing had been done, place full of waiting customers and I then had too wait my turn while they cooked the missing dish (which I had to pay for as it was not on the original order despite me ordering over the phone. Finally got home and plated up. Pretty disappointed with the quality and flavours. All gery bland. The schuman chicken had virtually no chilli/spice, the prawn on toast had fat dripping off and the curry was almost without curry taste. The only Chinese in Holt, we will not be returning.

Used to regularly use Sunny as our local takeaway. The quality of food has subsided significantly over the last year. Three times our order has been missing items. It’s a 15 minute ride back so just going back to collect the missing items isn’t ideal. Such a shame as it’s been running for a long time in the town.

I attempted to call this establishment over 100 times, when i did manage to get through the first time nobody was actually on the phone.. then the second time i managed to get through i was told that their system had gone down and that we should come down to order in person instead. So i drove down, queued for 15 minutes because everybody else had presumeably been told the same. I finally place an order with them at 18:25 then i go outside and wait the 25 minutes i was told to wait and seemingly no order.. being understanding i waited further with the many other outside.. 25 minutes turned into an hour and a half wait. I got inside and ask about my order and that turns into a further "10 minutes" which was really another 20 minutes. I'm finally home 2 hours after placing my initial order, there are items missing, the attempts of consoling waiting customers with fortune cookies was poor and taking orders (i understand you have a business to run, but sort out your muck up first) while over 20 people are waiting. I noticed the hotswapping of tickets in the kitchen into (assumingly) "priority" order i.e bigger orders to smaller quicker orders. This system in itself meaning my order had been left for an exponential amount of time . My partners mother has called them also to complain and was met with hositility from the person behind the counter saying "you're just shouting at me.." "what am i meant to do?" And refusal to pass on the complaint being issued to them. All in all, I'm deeply disatisfied with the service i've recieved tonight being my first time using them myself and alongside a consistent visitation from my partners family; It will be safe to say that we will be refusing to offer our custom to them in future. Also my partners mother has gone down to get rectification for whats missing from the order.. Good luck, guys!

Fantastic Chinese, best takeaway we’ve had for years. Had a selection of dishes including crispy duck, hot and sour soup, Kung po chicken, crispy beef, sweet and sour pork balls, ribs, prawn curry, various rice and noodles and every dish was absolutely superb - would definitely recommend.

We ordered by phone before collecting, was very had to order as the girl on the phone spoke so quickly and I felt I was rushed into giving my order, I was just about to be cut off when I had to stop her to ask if they were taking cash, she said order would be 20-30 minutes, I wanted to collect in 45 minutes so said I would be there at 6 pm, I don't think she heard me so we decided to go down earlier as thought the food would be sitting around getting cold, on arrival the staff were friendly and when I gave my name, lo and behold my order was sitting in the bag behind her on the shelf so would have been cold had we waited, food was hot and tasty though, except my king prawns with vegetables which I felt had a tang but that's just my taste preference, would buy from there again if in area (just not that dish)!

Food great, good quality, staff friendly. Decent value for money. The staff run through the order prior to collection which eliminates missing items. Would highly recommend.

Meal was hot, freshly cooked and good value EXCEPT the prawn toasts were NOT prawn. They were chicken! As we do not eat meat we were not at all happy as we had to throw them away, having paid for them, which made the meal less good value!

Ordered a take away , went to pick it up & paid on collection .. got back to work accommodation, missing 2 portions of rice !! Called up & went back to collect , food left at house now getting cold ... lady said we’ve not charged you it’s £10 !!! When questioned angry little Chinese man came out from kitchen abrupt & shouting “ you not order “ his customer skills are minus 20000000 ... strange little man ... good luck to him !!!!

Me and my husband phoned up sunnys this evening and placed a big order, we was told over the phone the order would take approximately 50 minutes, which was fine so we went to collect but unfortunately was met with a huge line of people outside who had been waiting ages for their food, so we expected to wait a long time too, the wait was cold and wet outside and I believe we waited around 20 extra minutes on top of the 50 we was told it would take. The kitchen seemed manic but the young lady behind the till was exceptional! She was calm and collected even though you could see she was flustered, she was polite, very apologetic for the wait and was exactly how you would expect someone to be, so I will give a 5 star for her job well done, other than that the kitchen staff could have been slightly better but the food was lovely. Will be visiting again.

We tried sunny takeaway this evening on our holiday in Holt and it did not disappoint. The food was so tasty and ready on time for our collection. Staff very friendly excellent service. Highly recommend as food is delicious

Always get good food from Sunny’s. Although, you have to keep hanging up and calling back if there on the phone as they don’t have an answer phone.

Got a large family takeaway from here and when arrived back at home realised they had got an item on the order wrong and wish it had been checked before leaving the takeaway rather than it just being handed over in a rush because they were busy.I would describe the food as being nothing more than OK rather than outstanding and the Chinese takeaways near where I live are far better in terms of both portion size and quality so would not go back again as I was not that impressed.

Haven’t had a Chinese takeaway in many years. We’re in Holt on holiday for a week and decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway dinner. Fed up of the usual fish and chips, we found Sunny Take Away on our mobile devices. I have to say that the meal I had - Kjng Prawn in Hoi Sin Sauce - was one of the best Chinese dishes I’ve had in my 54 years. The rest of the family absolutely loved theirs too. Highly recommended and we will definitely use them again. A real shame they don’t deliver to Leicestershire.

Come to collect my order the other night and I must say the gentleman behind the counter stunk of alcohol, I did have to double check my order once in my car to see if it was correct, thankfully it was. Unfortunately it wasn’t very nice, I’m a regular customer to sunny Chinese and this was a let down, new recipe? New staff maybe? However whatever they have changed wasn’t the best idea they had, very sad to say but another regular that won’t be returning.

As this is our local Chinese takeaway wgenever we get a takeaway it's from here. We've never had a bad meal always had an enjoyable experience just let done from time to time by silly mistakes.We usually spend around £30-40 so not a huge order & nearly everytime of we don't check the order something will be wrong. Last time we had an egg fried ride missing which had been replaced by a seafood dish a win from a financial perspective but as none of us eat it it was a waste.It's lovely food, well cooked but I'd advise anyone to carefully check their order.

Usually we go here and the food has been good and portion sizes have been alright. Having ordered over the phone and picking up 15mins later, but when getting home and finding small portions of chicken on the satay, not only small but dry pieces of chicken, then opening the chilli beef and finding what seemed like half a portion I had to take the food back and tell them my thoughts, as what I thought was a valued customer. I asked for a refund on the whole meal, that's the least I deserve surely, baring in mind that only a sample of the satay had been taken and chilli beef had only just been open then closed due to the disappointment that was seen, I was refused. Being told the chicken is cut by different people and is sometimes cut smaller, surly this shouldn't be right. When complaining about how dry the chicken was their response was "your probably used to just 70% chicken with water, but this is 100% chicken" (so now their insulting me). Opening the chilli beef I was asked if I'd eaten half, I stated that that's how it came (must of agreed it was a smaller portion, but after hearing that's how it came soon changed her attitude) I wanted a full refund for sure now. Refusing and saying they would only refund the satay and one of the chilli beef as the rest hadn't been opened. After taking the two chicken satays and one of the chilli beef, I was given a refund for the dishes taken. The couple behind the counter then had a discussions in their native language (God only knows what was said) taking the food that they told me was alright and leaving in disgust. The food going straight in the bin as I got home. [Meal:- 2x chicken satay on skewers, 2x chilli beef, ribs in syrup, chips and curry sauce]

Me and my partner usually love sunnys take away but today we were really disappointed! The chow mein was burnt and the rice not nice at all, peas in the rice where undercooked and solid. I know they are popular and can get busy but maybe if they gave more time between orders it could have been to a better standard. Don’t think we will be coming back again unfortunately and a huge shame!

We were on holiday in the area and got takeaway from here one evening. Had to wait about 20 minutes for food as we had just walked in but others were picking up phone orders straight away. Food was delicious, especially the Sunny special fried rice. It was also really hot so had obviously been freshly cooked. Would recommend.

Ordered a large takeaway order from Sunnys for the first time, was very impressed! The food was extremely tasty and well made with generous portions! All at a very reasonable price. I ordered over the phone and went to collect.. the first person I got through to was a man who was very rude and unhelpful and nearly made me cancel the order and find somewhere else however I forgot one thing and phoned back to be greeted by a lady who was much more personable and re read more order. It turned out the man had got a few things wrong so this was lucky. The food was ready upon arrival. No free prawn crackers which was disappointing as this is the norm on such large orders especially. Overall the experience was very good with very good food however it would be a 5* if not for poor customer service on the initial contact!!

We are caravanners and because of this we get all around the uk. We are both very fond of Chinese food and always look for one wherever we end up. We first visited in 2018) and we were very impressed. 2019 may found us back in holt and we made a beeline for the sunny. We hoped it was just the same and not gone downhill like some tend to do. Happy just like last year. We ended going 3 times in the fortnight. Well done sunny keep up these standards. Wish we had one as good in Leeds.

We have eaten from here a few times now. It can get very busy at times as there is not a large choice of takeaway in Holt if you fancy one. But of the 3 or 4 times we have eaten from here we are yet to have a bad meal. Quickly prepared and tasty. I recommend it.

Brilliant quality food, reasonable prices, fast service (recommend telephoning your order through first - as they're pretty good at hitting their estimated preparation time, if not earlier). Nice straightforward collection area with seating, free street parking outside. A really great little takeaway.

Twas a cold miserable evening, my phone reception was rubbish on the way home from work. I called Sunny, awesome lady answered and manged to understand my dalek impression order. I arrived it was ready, hot and smelled great. Back to mine the curries were tasty, rice was perfect. S&S; chicken wasn't greasy, the sauce was spot on. Excellent service and food. Highly recommended

Having seen the previous review- "Avoid....."- we were a bit hesitant about using it. It's several months ago on a previous visit that we'd used it. But we need not have worried. Plenty of locals using it was reassuring. The wait for the food wasn't long. The food was fine. The ribs were a little too well done but otherwise all was good.

This place has really gone down hill of late, the quality of food is very poor. Pork posing as chicken is not acceptable, very greasy and salty and no taste. Food standards agency needed very quickly!

We have used this place 3 times in a month since moving to edgefield just down the road from Holt. I do like a good Chinese takeaway after a crappy work week. And this is my favourite one from here to fakenham. Food is always good. Although I have had one bad duck dish recently that was a bit overcooked and duck was kinda burnt...but it hasn't put me off. This Saturday I fancied another go....however for some reason the store was closed despite it usually being open on weekends.....so had to use another in sherringham. Some bad reviews on here I note...but we all have off days. This is worth a try in my opinion

This is the best Chinese’s takeaway for miles. The food is reasonably priced, very hot and tasty. Good all round menu

My husband and I had a take away one evening. My husband had chicken Szechuan style, I had Wandering Dragon. My meal was described as exquisite. It was far from it. Both meals could only be classed as poor. It was as though the cheapest of cheap sauces had been used in the preparation. This is a take away I will not be revisiting.

We decided to get a Chinese takeaway whilst on holiday in the area from the south east where we are very fortunate to have good Chinese eating available to us. The menu from Sunny was in the holiday accommodation and only 10 minutes up the road so we chose to order. So pleased we did - the food was incredible and very well priced. Satay chicken skewers were tender and the sauce full of flavour. I’m a shredded chilli beef connoisseur and Sunny’s hit the spot. Chinese roasted pork with BBQ sauce was fantastic and seemed to go on forever (bring on the meat sweats!!). Singapore noodles were hot and spicy. Peking king prawns perfectly cooked with a lovely tangy sauce. Without doubt one of the best Chinese meals we’ve had - such a shame it’s 150 miles from home. Don’t hesitate to order from Sunny - you won’t be disappointed and if you are, well then you’re just weird!

I have been a regular customer here for about 9 years. I love the place but tonight was dreadful. The food was almost inedible. I will surely inform the local EHO about suspicions I have over the freshness and quality of the produce used. I'm really shocked that it can go from my first choice of takeaway in North Norfolk to one I will never use again. They will lose their business if they decide to continue like this.

Ordered a take away from here as we were staying in Blakeney. Order was taken and we drove 20 minutes to collect. No problem, my friends checked our order (big group of us) and thought we had everything, then when they got bak to Blakeney we found we were missing one persons entire meal! We called the restaurant to be told the girl who packed the bag had gone off shift and we were accused of lying. We then asked for the meal to be bought to us or for a refund for the dish to be issued and we were told there was a problem with the card machine and nothing could be done until Monday. We settled for this in the end and then we were asked for our card number which we gave (no mention of expiry date) then 2 hours later we had a text message to say they actually needed account number and sort code to issue the refund. What exactly is this business? I do not want to text a random number all of my account details for them to issue a refund. Really poor service I was so disappointed.

We are up costing parents for Xmas and decided to order Chinese so glad we did it was out of this world never had Chinese like it. Really highly recommend the Singapore noodles. Can't wait to return again .xx

We got a takeaway from Sunny Takeaway while staying in Holt. They have a large menu with a lot of choice. Everything was delicious with lots of flavour and piping hot. We phoned up and ordered and it was ready for us to pick up at exactly the time they said it would be. Wish this Chinese takeaway was closer to home! Highly recommended!

I purchased a take-away meal about a week ago after ordering it by telephone. When I collected it it was ready for me right on time. The quality of the food was excellent, being hot and obviously freshly cooked. Their prices are not high so, all in all, well worth a try.

Have used sunny for some time, but standards are slipping. Our last meal we purchased, after a long break because of poor quality food and very unhelpful staff, was shocking, every dish was over salted and almost burnt tasting.The prices charged for not a large portion should result in quality food, sadly it doesn't anymore!

Same as the person below, I have been coming to this Chinese for many years, ever since they changed hands actually. I am so upset to read that negative comment because how it is written in the review isn't exactly how it happened in the shop, as I was wanting to place an order as the commotion kicked off. With the girl (and boy) that bought back the food, it was hard not to listen in to the conversation because she was shouting across the counter and banging on the counter. I've never had a problem with the food in all of the years I've been coming here but if I did, I'd never speak to the staff in the way that this girl did. I accept that mistakes sometimes happen so I would ask for a refund too, but in a much nicer manner. After much arguing I saw the counter lady hand over £20, and in return she got the receipt thrown back at her. I thought that was a ridiculously immature thing to do. Even with the girl telling people not to come in, that wouldn't deter me ordering my food at this Chinese. Yes it may be pricey but it is most definitely the most tastiest Chinese takeaway around and looking at other reviews, I don't think I stand alone when saying this. It's always hot, even after my 15 minute drive home. Worth every penny and I will continue to use this fabulous takeaway that employs wonderful staff and has a very proactive manager

If I could rate this with no stars I would.... My order cost me £44.80, didn't eat half of it as it was overly salty, couldn't bring the order back as I had kids in bed, took it back the next day , was only offered £10 which I thought was horrible, as been coming here for 10 years , and for the people too get rude to me saying I'm not welcome back. Funny as I don't want you come back. I know a lot of people who won't be coming back. Was treated like an animal from the staff very unprofessional.

Well what can I say,we have just had yet another amazing meal from 'Sunny' it is far from the cheapest chinese takeaway but when you get your meal home and taste their food it certainly is worth every penny.We phoned our order through at 1720 to pick it up at 1800 and there it was bang on time.Still really hot when I got home and started eating it.This take away gets really busy especially in the summer so think ahead and order ahead of time.I did read another review that slated a woman with short blonde hair,well all I can say is that she was polite and friendly on the phone taking our order and very polite smiley and efficient when I collected our meal,everyone is entitled to a bad day every now and then.Can't wait to order another takeaway now!

Easily the best Chinese for miles. Food tastes fresh and the smells coming from the kitchen only serve to remind you that you've made the right choice. But when they say your food will be ready in half an hour this can mean anything up to 90 minutes on a busy day. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the wait, but with a little more organisation I could wait at home, instead of in the shop.

Regular customer for three years and this place keeps getting better. Have never had better Chinese takeaway anywhere. Food is always prepared fresh and quickly. Service is always efficient and pleasant. Prices reasonable. Very, very good. (NB. Closed Tuesdays.)

We fancied a Chinese - staying in Weybourne and didn't know the area. Only one we passed so took a gamble.I haven't had a Chinese in a while and I was massively impressed - soooo tasty. Service and price was average for me nothing to complain plain about.Especially impressed with salt and pepper chicken and pork cho mein, very tasty. Will remember this for next time - comes highly recommended.

This take away was the best. The staff was so friendly, and they always remember my name. The food is always ready by the time i get there or just a little bit later even when it's really busy, but hey, no one is perfect. Everytime i walk into the Sunny Chinese I smell the mouthwatering air. By the time i take it back to my house it's still warm.The Sunny Chinese take away is 100% my favourite place to eat. Maybe they could add some tables so then people can eat in.

Where do we start... After a £125 order for 9 people there were several areas where the meal fell into a collapse. Firstly after ordering 2 whole ducks we got approximately 10 pancakes to eat it with and enough chopped up Spring roles and cucumber to feed an army. Get your ratios right! The hoisin sauce was some sort of congealed jelly that must have been sitting on the shelf for an age which made the starter very unappetising, all mixed with the duck not being pre-shredded and about as much moisture as the Sahara desert. Moving on to the mains - after ordering a wide variety of dishes the food was average at best. Granted were not expecting a Michelin star meal but for a Chinese takeaway I'd expect something at least half decent. Overall, as the title suggests, the meal was average to poor and the only reason I would order again is due to the lack of choice in the village. Also I don't expect to be charged for fortune cookies.

Can't fault it actually, price can be a little high if you get carried away, think about how many you are feeding, a meal for one is definitely enough for 2! Love it, will definitely return and definitely recommend, much better than Sheringham

Best takeaway in Holt by far don't go anywhere else. Varied menu, excellent value and quality. Phone your order in as they get very busy.

This is our favourite local Chinese take away. Specialising in Chinese and Cantonese food, the quality and quantity is always really good. Reasonably priced, it is open everyday, except Tuesdays. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed. Truly yummy!

Ordered Singapore vermicelli and salt and chilli prawns takeaway. Both portions sizeable and did me for two meals. The noodles were thicker than I am used to but flavour was good and both dishes had a good kick of spice/chilli. Would use again.

The most wonderful chinese take away I have had! However the menu is a little on the pricier side, I was more than willing to pay for the food. Service was really friendly and even during busy times they manage to get my food nice and hot and ready (although not on the exact time I appreciated the effort)

I would have liked to have given an 'excellent' rating: indeed this is probably the best Chinese Takeaway I have ever used... however, it can be inconsistent. I would say 7 our of 10 times the food is excellent, but then every two or three times you go the food is a good average. Service is always friendly and cheerful.

We always have a Chinese Takeaway from Sunny when staying in Holt. Compared with many other Chinese takeaways we have tried, we find this one to be always consistently good quality, tasty and hot. Vegetables in Satay Sauce were exceptionally good, recognisable chunks of veg and not overcooked. Look forward to returning.

Ordered chinese takeaway at 6.50pm told it would take an hour. Went in after 1hr 10 mins. Still not ready. Asked how long and didn't mind as would go for a drink. They said 15 mins. Went for a drink and returned 35 mins later. Still not ready. Asked how long it would be. "You're about half hour away" Asked for my money back and got it. Not one word of an apology. Disgraceful, I had kids waiting for tea at home and 2hours after the original order I didn't have any food. Absolutely laughable. I used to use them regularly but won't be using again.

A great choice for an evening when we couldn't be bothered to cook whilst on holiday. They added fresh chilli to my chicken and blackbean sauce on request and the chicken and mushroom curry was nice too.

I live in Holt and I order from this take away twice a week. The menu is extensive - the food is delicious and the owners are so caring. It can get very busy at weekends with long waits for orders but that reflects on how good it is

Have had a takeaway from Sunny many times and have to say that it is by far and away the best Chinese takeaway I have ever been too.In fact some of the dishes are better here (bearing in mind you have to get them home etc) than you get in very good restaurants. I think the secret is good recipes but also the use of fresh vegetables etc - you can tell they use fresh peppers in their dishes for example.No point running through what is good etc as everyone has their own taste but particular favourites are the ribs in syrup and the mixed meat with crispy noodle which has a delicious gravy.It is more expensive than your standard Chinese (this is N. Norfolk!!) but it is well worth it.One note of caution - in holidaymaker season especially Bank Holiday Saturdays it is VERY busy and you have to be prepared to maybe wait 20-30 minutes even if you telephone your order through well in advance.It can be frustrating but for me it is well worth the wait!!!
