Sunflower Takeaway in South Ribble

The food and swift service from here is really excellent. Not on Just Eat. We were using Just Eat and often disappointed with the chinese food we were getting but this place is the business. Sometimes have to try hard to get through on phone to order for delivery but worth it. Accepts cash and card payment now which hasn't always been the case.

*Warning of scam at local takeaway* I’d been considering wether or not I should post this but eventually thought that I’d best make you all aware so you can keep your eyes out for this scam I got caught up in. I ordered some food from the sunflower Chinese in Lostock Hall, went to collect and the woman on the till put the order on the counter, I briefly saw the receipt on it and it looked like 28.30 or something. When I came to pay she told me it’s 28.70, I said wasn’t it 28.30 and she insisted no it’s not so I paid. I then asked for my receipt and she refused to give me one. After I persisted and another lady came in she printed me another copy. The total due was 28.20. I asked why does it say it’s 28.20 and you’ve charged me 28.70? She tried ignoring me by speaking on the phone but I waited and when she finished I asked why they’ve charged me more than it says on the receipt. She tried denying it and when I pointed it out so obviously, I.e what they’d charged me and what the receipt said I owed, she then said it’s a service charge. I asked her what’s it for and why are you charging without itemising it and without telling anyone? Then without her saying anything she angrily gave me 50p then I left. I’m very disappointed they they are trying to steal off customers without them even realising, it’s not the fact it’s 50p because it’s kind of insignificant but it’s the fact they’re trying to hide stealing it. I can’t even understand the need, they’ve been open all the way through lockdown earning a fortune. If it was legitimate it would be on the receipt. If they do this to every customer how much will that add up to a day? A week? Etc? Attached is a photo of the receipt and my 50p along with a screenshot from my card which I used to pay for it. I’ve not put this up to try and chase any trouble, it’s just something for you all to be aware of. Thanks

Love sunflower the food is always bang on and delivered hot. Best Chinese around by far. If they don’t deliver to your area it’s worth the drive

I come here often and drive past three Chinese takeaways on route, as its worth the trip! Incredibly tasty food and friendly, efficient service! Will continue to come!! Free prawn crackers is a bonus!

Ordered a takeaway from here over the weekend. Never again. Rated 1 star because i havev to. Hard overcooked chicken nuggets passed for salt and pepper chicken and the salt and pepper chips were the same, hard, overcooked and crunchy. Thai style king prawn curry was in a red, sweet(?) sticky sauce and the beef in the beef and mushrooms was coiled. £29.10 for what i feel was just put together with what they had left and hoped for the best. Terrible overpriced food that went in the bin.

We have used this takeout many times. The foods always delivered hot and it tastes amazing. They are accommodate additional needs in regards to the meals they prepare for us. Will use again.

Placed an order and expected to receive within 45 mins. Over an hour passes so I call to enquire where the food is. Im told they haven't started making my food. I said when was you going to start making it or at least tell me about this. His reply was "when the driver got back" - UNBELIEVABLE haha

Had a gorgeous takeaway from sunflower oriental cuisine tonight. We had the Kung po bean curd, salt and pepper bean curd and salt and pepper chips. Everything was really tasty and was ready within 35 minutes of us placing our order. I also particularly liked that the bean curd was nice and squishy as I'm not keen on the firm kind (personal preference I guess). The food was also on the cheap side so we will definitely be ordering again.

Have been using Sunflower takeaway for a number of years and have always recommended them to friends and associates. Quality and quantity is always excellent plus really friendly telephone manner on order . Good value + Prompt excellent delivery staff. Note: allow a little extra delivery time at weekend evenings as they do get busy. Never disappointed with any dish ordered even when I have asked for their recommendation. Closed Tuesday.

Decided on a Chinese as recommended by Trip Advisor - the Sunflower Oriental Cuisine - not used before. So first time for us here. We ordered 2 Chili Chicken in black bean sauce with fried rice. 2 mini spring rolls, and some prawn crackers and 2 cans of Diet Coke to wash it down with. This came to just over £20. Interestingly - the Sunflower have a great deal going that if you spend over £10 you get free prawn crackers; spend over £20 you get free vegetarian spring rolls and if you spend over £30 then you get free salt & pepper chicken wings. You do however pay a little extra for your meal to be delivered. Our meal arrived within the hour and it was really delicious. The portions were more than ample and would easily stretch to 3 people rather than the 2 people we initially ordered for. The menu at the Sunflower is large and extremely varied and should suit the most discerning of tastes. As well as the usual common type of Chinese dishes offered, the Sunflower also offer a good range of Thai curry, Singapore vermicelli dishes in addition to some Udon Japanese noodle dishes which look tempting as well. They also offer a good selection of vegetarian and bean curd dishes too. English dishes are also available such as sirloin steak or sausage dinner and all in all we feel their menu is well worth exploring. The Sunflower has a 5 star food hygiene rating we discovered. Meals are delivered in hygienic snap lidded plastic containers ( see pics) with the rice and accessories in foil containers- all piping hot. Would we use the Sunflower Oriental again ? Of course we would- highly recommended in our opinion.

Excellent food,great curry,if you want it hotter Jimmy will sort you out,the Singapore Chow Mein is also pretty damn good

I've been several times now to Sunflower and always found them to be very pleasant, very quick, very well priced VERY TASTY, very good, very pleased.

We always go here and food is always amazing the owner of the establishment is always friendly I would recommend this place to anyone who wants decent Chinese food :)

We tried here as a change from our usual Chinese take away (Happy House in Leyland). The reviews sounded good so gave it a go. I found it disappointing. The salt and pepper chicken wings were oily with loads of onions. The Cantonese chicken and beef with ginger and spring onions were ok but a bit bland. To top it off I forgot to order prawn crackers. These came free if you spent £10 but as we spent £20 we got mini spring rolls instead. These were good but not prawn crackers.

We use the sunflower on a weekly basis and the food is consistently great. The chicken kungpo is delicious as is the smoked shredded chicken. Spicy chilli beef is fab and the dry chow mein noodles are a great alternative to rice!

I've been visiting this take away almost weekly since it's new owners arrived - cannot fault service or food. If you have a local Chinese and fancy something different, why not give it a go? - you may be switched as I was

Usamos este para llevar regularmente y estamos muy decepcionados con la comida. Las patatas fritas eran duras y grasiento. El arroz estaba viscoso, tenía que grasa. Que no se podía comer. La sal y la pimienta especial era tan dura y difícil que podía decir que la carne estaba que. Absolutamente la peor comida que he probado en mucho tiempo. Toda la cosa fue que grasiento tiene nos hicieron sentir enfermo y nos han dejado la mayoría de! También el restaurante añadido 40 minutos en el tiempo de entrega! Aunque no vengan antes que me dijeron que es la única ventaja de la experiencia

Cuando este finalmente llevar chino reabrió tras una ola cerrado - ¡fue horrible! Mismo nombre, experiencia diferente. . . Pero, después de mi esposa la semana pasada estamos hablando de que fuimos a probar y, para mi sorpresa, ha sido tomada de nuevo (aparentemente) a finales del año pasado por una familia encantadora chino que puede sin duda cocinar! ! ! Bienvenido de vuelta en el mapa entusiasta de girasol, es estupendo ver que hay un real para llevar chino atrás en Gava Hall, en vez de tener que viajar. . . . Menú mejor. mejor comida y un servicio estupendo! Maravilloso!

Francamente es un contendiente para mejor llevar chino en la zona de Preston. No parece impresionante desde fuera y el estacionamiento es en la puerta pero no la calidad de la comida hace que el sitio al que ir si te apetece un chino. . Visitamos varias veces y la comida siempre ha sido buena. Servicio rápido y siempre muy caliente. El personal es amable.

Really nice food and very fast delivery. I have a Chinese takeaway right near my house but will continue using this one, its much nicer.

We ordered when this first opened but wasn't overly impressed. Tonight we thought we'd give it another try and what and improvement!! Salt and pepper chips are amazing and enough to feed a family of 4. We ordered chicken in black pepper, very tasty, full of veg and chicken with just enough spice. Rice and noodles all good. Great Free prawn cracker and not the paper thin ones you get at some places. We will definitely order again. Thank you.

Excellent Chinese which we use via Just Eat. £2 delivery and food arrives piping hot. Long delivery time, always 1 hour but if you know this it's easy to factor in. Free prawn crackers.Particularly love their Thai curry!

We've ordered from here several times beautiful food always hot on delivery. Free extras and prompt delivery. Just tried shredded beef in ok sauce yummy!

Due to myself and my partner having worked a long day, we decided to order from the sunflower takeaway, which we had ordered from regularly before it had been closed down previous, due to the food and service being to a good standard. We ordered off Just Eat and it took well over an hour to recieve our food. It was cold and stale and almost broke my teeth on the prawn crackers alone. I rang the takeaway to complain and either get a refund or a future order for free (as we had spent a substantial amount), however we where refused any form of compensation. Due to being hungry by this point I decided to warm up the food. I'd stated on the Just Eat order I had an nut allergy, but I ended up using my adrenaline pen due to suffering a severe reaction. This takeaway since reopening quite clearly is being badly managed and causing real harm to its customers. Extremely disappointed and will be taking this further!

Having seen another review .. and maybe feeling I had been biased from previous experiences ... I tried again.I'm sad to say that the latest experience was slightly worse than the first. Average food, some vegetables are far from 'al dente' (as being almost raw - and when you get to raw peppers this is not good) ... Worse than all the above, items missing from order - only to be argued never ordered when contacted! ... at this stage, not bothered who/what /why/when ... its too late! .. and, being honest ... all in all more expensive than other takeaways in the area - including the UK award winning Chinese (within 1 mile collection) .. so, apologies for being quite blunt.. but this is an honest appraisal! Really pleased that this takeaway is back open. We ordered last night for delivery which came really fast and food was piping hot. The man on the phone was lovely and helped me to place my order. To me he knew the menu really well baring in mind that they have only been open for a couple of days. The food was really tasty and I will definitely be ordering again :) thank you sun flower!!

Sadly, the wonderful Sunflower Chinese take away in Lostock Hall closed sometime ago ... recently reopening this week with different owners (w/e 30.10.2015)Decided to give it a go having been going to another (not that local I may add) - and was, honestly, disappointed. Young man on the phone did not know the menu/offerings (or Chinese food for that matter) - .. delivery service fine and hot food - sadly it was not very good ... it wasn't bad, just average I suppose. There are much better Chinese takeaways within the area (though not immediate vicinity) and, being honest, less expensive.Ok for average takeaway if your hungry, but worth travelling for much better and for less cost ... sorry but will need to really develop their culinary skills to match that of previous owners. Sadly, unlikely to return ....
