Sunflower Chinese Takeaway in Worthing

We went the New Sunflower Chinese takeaway for the first time after seeing the menu available. It was easy to telephone our order. After 10 minutes our order was available for collecting. Delivery is available too. The food was well cooked and well presented but it was a bit wet. The portion size was good.

5 star food from the sunflowwer, we have just eaten this delicious meal. What more can i say other than wonderful!

We have used Sunflower since the mid 90s and been regular customers for home delivery, but due to their rudness,we will not order of them again.

The food was absolutely disgusting the curry sauce was lumpy cost a fortune was honestly the worst Chinese I’ve ever had, had multiple different dishes and each one was worse than the last and gave me a really dodgy stomach, highly you recommend you avoid this place

Had takeout 2 separate times when visiting friends. Maybe I am used to Chinese restaurants in the States but found some of the foods to be overly salted, rice not feeling to be cooked right and the spare ribs to be very tough to chew.

Food fine but the young man serving is sullen and really unfriendly and made me feel like I was disturbing him on his phone. Last time I go in there if he's there sorry

Absolute daylight robbery stay well away from this Chinese takeaway as they like to charge you twice. And the food isn't that good as well.

Lovely meals again, I had the Chicken Satay on skewers to start, then the Chicken with Beansprouts and The House Special Chow Mein, all very yummy, Hubby had Ribs in Sauce and the Sweet and Sour Chicken, we both enjoyed our meals greatly. Would recommend to anyone. An extensive menu to suit all tastes.

I just fancied a Chinese meal so I found this restaurant close to where I live .I ordered meal for one plus soup spring roll & prawn crackers .I was told 45 minutes but I think it was more like 15 minutes.the food was piping hot and all very tasty .the spring roll was a bit chewy but overall.very good and I will use this place again .

As always, wonderful food whatever we order. Satay Chicken on skewers is a favourite, King Do spare ribs, shredded Duck vermicelli, and King Prawn curry are all favourites.

I don't know what has been ordered for bad reviews, but me and my Husband try different things all the time, the food is always good, plentiful, and piping hot delivered.

This is a takeaway so atmosphere really is not possible to guess

Quality is going downhill recently, staff are brash and can be very rude, and the waits are now over an hour, and when late there is no apology or explanation - on top of this review they also got my order wrong and did not apologise just asked if I wanted credit as they only had one driver, frustrated when told I wanted my order as it was my wife’s meal and not a joke

I mostly try to ask for different things, but their Satay Chicken Skewers, and the King Do Spare Ribs are lovely, , so are all he Duck dishes, my OH swears by the King Prawn Curry. We have never had a bad meal from this take away.

Beautiful food but the the young lad taking orders needs to go be trained in customer service.. never ever seen someone talk and act so dry. If you don't want to be there atleast don't make it obvious to your customers. It's very off-putting.

We often have a take away from here as we live locally and have never had anything other than delicious hot food. Last night we ordered an absolute feast for 6 people, we ordered far too much food. However it turned up hot, fresh and all of us commented on how good it really was. The staff are always so friendly too!!

If you're local then you'll already know that this is the best Chinese takeaway in the area. Have been using them for over 20 years and always deliver fast and accurately. Never had an issue with them. The food is always great too!

Had a really excellent meal this evening ....shredded beef chilli king prawns Hong-Kong style & shrimp chopped suey. All very fresh and hot. Best Chinese in a very long time. Well done guys !

Ordered from here for the first time the other night, very helpful guy on the phone, and plenty of cashew nuts in with the chicken and yellow bean. The other dishes where very good as well all came on time and where hot and tasty also the price was really reasonable overall great experience will definitely use again. Cheers guys.

First time we have used this place but experience really poor. Ordering for a family meal had to actually ask young man if I had offended him as he was so rude and aggressive when asked questions about portions and dishes such a duck and pancakes. Also jumped at me about checking price when he asked for more than £70. Won’t be coming back, hopefully when they lose enough customers the customer service will improve.

Hi I am been going to the place for years and love the food and the service is brilliant but for the first time the young lad maybe new at is needs some customer service skills as he seemed in to much of rush to get of the phone then giving service. The food is always amazing .

Our local takeaway. Not as busy as one expected but it was a weekday. Disappointed with the spicy squid as not at all spicy.

We ordered on Sunday evening the mixed hors d'oeurves for 2, mushroom fu yung, king po chicken and rice. Never going to order mixed hors d'oeurves again, bone dry, hard obviously microwaved as the satay sauce had that over cooked hard set edge. Others food ok, not very hot though. Not impressed sorry but don't think we will be coming back again. Shame as we have used you for a long time

Avoid at all cost! Last minute order, cooked within a few mins, rude customer service from the staff moaning about us ordering to late and then spent the following day on the toilet. Awful!

Always get good customer service. Staff always happy to advise on dishes. The chicken balls were delicious and huge! I was a bit sceptical as to believe chickens really do have balls this large but I don’t want to google such a thing and have to later explain to my wife. I’ve had food delivered and also collected before never had a problem. Shout out to the sunflower!

We have ordered here many times and it's always been lovely. Tonight we ordered £50 worth of food, it was very tasty and we were enjoying it until found a long dark hair in our chow mein which put us right off - YUCK!

Must have had close to one hundred meals here and never had a bad one! Highly recommended for great food.

Decided to go somewhere different from our usual. Starter was good but that's about it, my husbands main had a staple in it, my lemon chicken was dry and tuff, tasted like they released the chicken and added lemon sauce on the top, my husbands lamb was over cooked, I tried some. Should of stuck with our usual I 9nly gave it poor instead of terrible because the starter was okay Don't bother, go elsewhere

What happend ??? i have been using this place for quite a few years , getting good food and service . Not now ! the food we have had over the last couple of months has been , well , Horrible .Last night was the last straw ! the chips are ALWAYS RE-HEATED, The beef chow mien was NOT even edible , chewy meat with completely tasteless noodles and the rice all stuck together , i wont go on , i think you all got the idea , for very nice food , eat elsewhere because this place has gone down hill BIG TIME .

Excellent food and service and always busy that is a recommendation in itself. Ignore the 1* reviews obviously written by 5 year olds judging by the grammar and spelling. Be polite and patient then enjoy the results.

The price much more cheaper than other Chinese take away,,portion are great and the are fabulous with starters of 4 person ,1/2 of Crispy Duck and meal are great portion .thank for recommendations for sat meal for D yet the staff are great and polite.Well be back ,thump up

Went to this Chinese lie I Normally would every few weeks and normal it is 5 start but this time was terrible normally my meal is under 10pounds so I normally say just had the difference to make it 10 pound so I can pay on card and the ower ( the mum) refused unlike all the other times when others said that's fine and so I began to say her son and others have done it before and she began to be really rude and say I was lieing and it's not true and continued to say I was lieing lots and being rude and forced me to buy a drink I don't drink but had to as have no cash often. very bad customer service and this time the food was really terrible as well don't think I will use again if I'm honest

Went along there last night to order some food .Saw the notice on the counter £10.00 minimum card spend . Did not want £10.00 of food and drink so turned round and walked out . It is not near a cashpoint so they need to review this practice .Shame because the food is always good !

Consistently high quality and excellent value for money. Sometimes have to wait while during peak hours, but that's to be expected of a popular place.

Last meal we had from here almost put us off Chinese food for good,The sauce for the curries was very thick and sweet and the smell and taste of the chow Mein after one bite was enough to warrant putting it straight in the bin...never again.

We haven't been here in a while but thought it has always been really good over last 20 years. Service was appalling by older lady at counter abrupt and rude! I only wanted to know what was in the special rice... Anyway food arrived really quick which worried me as literally order to counter was 3 minutes. Food was luke warm tasteless and chow mien had no flavour was just plain noodles everything that was fried was just soggy. I will not be returning again this was so disappointing. Anyone have any good suggestions of a good Chinese let me know.

Have been using this take away for some three years. In all that time have never had a problem with the meals or delivery. Tried many take away eateries. None can surpass this place.

The food is really good here. The aromatic duck dish is spot on. The chicken balls were excellent. Chow Mien and Fried Rice are freshly cooked and super delicious. Has good hygiene rating from the council give good assurance. Reasonably priced dishes. Extensive menu, must come back again to try other dishes. Friendly staff and polite. Can get really busy at times so I understand the interaction may be a bit abrubt sometimes. Give this place a try, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Having eaten here safely several times previously and ALWAYS stipulating that I have a nut allergy, we ordered the same food tonight. After reassurance yet again that they would cook all my food separately I decided to take the risk but after the meal suffered my usual reaction to nuts. Ambulance crew were dispatched to check me over and luckily it didn't progress to anaphylaxis but it's not worth the risk. Just noticed a similar review. Avoid if allergic to anything. Shame as I really enjoy their food.

We have been using the restaurant for 20 years. Flavours are a little sweet, but overall really nice. Not sure about authenticity, but I will continue to visit, as the flavours are great.

My other half sadly had an allergic reaction, we went in and brought it to their attention and all we got was told was that we were lying. Worse customer service ever. My partner was violently ill that night and we just wanted to make them aware as there are people who have much worse allergies. Please please be careful if you have nut allergies (we did tell them when we ordered too!)

Used the old sunflower and never had a problem for past 20 years. Went to place order via phone and they didn’t understand I was asking if they did beef teriyaki as they have chicken teriyaki on menu. Was abruptly passed to someone else, then asked again if they had beef teriyaki or an alternative, was told quite rudely look at the menu, that is what we have. I explained I don’t have the new menu and I wasn’t sure if the online was was up to date. Was sharply asked if I wanted order, in which I replied “no thank you I will go somewhere else”

Very impressed with food and service overall. Good value for money. Will make it my regular port of call.

Came in and asked for Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls...unfortunately they only take cash for under 10 pounds...No surcharge option if u want to pay by card..Been sent away like a trash..Customer lost..life goes on.

I had a beef chowmein in the afternoon and got sick by 10pm. I actually tasted the flavour and felt gone off. I shouldnt have eaten there but never ever again.

After a busy day decorating, and with time running late, we ordered a takeaway from the new sunflower. The food, on this occasion, arrived quickly. It was nothing exceptional but it was a tasty selection.

Never had a bad dish in 4 years. Polite staff, great food. I used to find that some chinese outlets became complacent the more regularly you use them - these guys never deliver a bad meal, I eat here once a week.

Sunflower always used to be our regular chinese but after a bad one about 7 months ago we haven't used them but last night we thought we would give them benefit of the doubt and make an order, and I'm sorry to say once again we were quite disappointed, the sweet and sour sauce was pale and watery, the sweet and sour pork Hong Kong style was watery and 3/4 of a box full, fried shredded crispy beef was nice but only 1/2 a box, Singapore noodles had hardly any meat in them and asked for xxx hot curry sauce and it was as mild as it's ever been and the chips were really dry, now once again it came to over 30 quid and I feel they were tight on their portions and the quality just isn't there anymore which is a real shame as 1-2 years ago this chinese was faultless and I would have recommended to everyone, so whatever has changed they need to unchange it as it isn't doing them any favours!!

We regularly have our weekend take out from here. The service is quick and the food is great at a reasonable price.

Only discovered this recently on recommendation from a friend and it really is excellent. All the food was good quality and they do home delivery. A meal for 8 was £60 which was pretty good and we had some food over. Well worth a try.

My local Chinese and better than several others in the area which i have tried. Always a quick delivery even at the busiest of times. Portions good and quality of dishes consistent and tasty.

We are disappointed with this chinese take away now. It used to be the one we always use however now, the portion sizes seem to have reduced significantly. We ordered the crispy chilli beef and there was barely enough for two small portions. However, we gave it a chance but ordering again we found a long black hair in the sweet and sour chicken. When we complained we were told to bring it back and they would replace it, however we were put off entirely so unfortunately, won't be visiting again.

We started using this takeaway when our regular one closed early 2015. Although we felt a little disloyal we found the quality as good. The prices may have been a little higher but the delivery option was very useful, especially as once you have ordered you are on their database and they immediately know what address to deliver to but never ask if we have had PPI.One of our regular challenges is when our son visits from Australia and wants his Chinese but with no onions, garlic etc. Our old Chinese used to manage this but we approached this request with some trepidation. Absolutely no problem whatsoever, requirements understood and met.We have since learnt that our old Chinese will not be re-opening and will miss those old friends but are really happy we have Sunflower to take their place. Only disappointment is that we bought two lovely food warmers which were perfect for the foil containers our previous place used but are useless for the plastic containers used by Sunflower. Any suggestions?

I have never ever had to write such a bad review before but I suppose there had to be a first. My first order of a Chinese takeaway in moving to the Worthing area and I am so dissapointed and gutted in wasting my time on this.I ordered a takeaway at approx 18.45 on a Saturday evening and after nearly two hours received the meal. I had been calling but they reassured me it's on its way but the delivery lady then called and had no idea really of the address.On opening the parcel of food the chips were like they had been leftovers from the day before. Pancakes were cold. (We chucked them in the bin). And the food was stone cold and not worth paying anyone for. I called back, said I was not happy and wanted my money back and them to collect the food. I was livid and I never get like that but my friend, daughter and I were hungry after waiting two hours (i did try calling).The lady on the the phone, when I did get through seemed busy and uninterested trying to fob me off finslly got the picture when I said she could pay for my meal else where if I didn't get my money back. Eventually when they came back, the delivery lady took the meal but practically threw the money back. Zero rating for disgusting service and food. Unacceptable and certainly not worth a second chance.

Ordered from here the 1st time and the order was perfect. The second time, it was wrong. Didn't have the menu to hand like the first time and was advised that there are only 2 types of sweet and sour chicken. There are 3. After 3 phone calls trying to confirm the order, the woman taking the order is either seriously confused or a liar. Telling me I've never ordered from there and telling me what order was placed. I won't be using this place again. Waste of time.

Popped in here after work for a take-away. As good as any other chinese restaurant ive visted. I ordered chicken with yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts which was really nice. The staff were friendly and I got my order quite quickly. Really local to us round the corner. Gave me nice memories of when me and my partner first moved down to Worthing from London 15 years ago and tried this place out. Almost next door to Durrington First School and the Library. Hardly anywhere to park if you come by vehicle.

With my wife away this weekend I decided it was time for my favourite take-away. I ordered a Chinese mixed curry, a dish I've tasted made to dozens of individual recipes but none made quite like this !!It arrived in double quick time, about 4-5 minutes I think which is slightly unusual as I'e normally had to wait up to 15 minutes for this dish.When I opened the (high quality) transparent plastic food containers and tasted it, I could have sworn on oath that I had an INDIAN beef curry !However, it tasted fine as I like Indian curries also. On a finer point, the spices were a little under or over cooked as it gave the curry sauce that slightly sharp flavour. The egg rice was fine.Conclusions;Why not make those superb tasting Chinese curry sauces ?

I'm a very happy repeat customer at the sunflower. The food is great and the prices more reasonable than some of the competition. I think the best measure is that the local police use the place and they must know which are good and which to avoid. I particularly recommend the starter sharing platter.

Tried the Sunflower tonight for the first time and was pleased with the quality of the food and amazed by the speed of service.Can recommend this takeaway and will use it again.

Oh em gee.... that was deeeeelicious!!!!! Must admit, Chinese is never our first choice, but tonight we fancied a change, and having read great reviews on TA, we ordered from Sunflower for the first time ..10 minutes later, we were presented with a HUGE bag of the most scrummy Chinese food we can ever remember tasting. There's no doubt we'll be back. .. great value, MASSIVE portions, sooooo tasty... be rude not to! !!!!! If you haven't had your dinner from Sunflower already --- do yourself a favour .. .... ;-);-);-)

Used this takeaway years ago and loved it. The menu went missing. After about 3 years of trying takeaways all around worthing (none even close to quality or service) I googled to see about getting a menu. It was on their website. Had a heavenly meal. Can't wait to order again. They really need to do a menu drop around west Durrington. But definitely the best Chinese we've tried x

I've been using this place for 8 years now and I crave curry sauce to the max and am mad about chicken balls and these are the ones I sometimes order three portions a week So tender so round so perfect . Please use this takeaway and you will be amazed

I have used this Chinese for over 20 years . It's my local Chinese and the food is great , the portion sizes are great , the food is always cooked well and tastes good . I have tried other takeaways when at friends houses and nothing is as good as here . So I always pass the number on to my friends.
