Perfectly situated and actually the "cheap" option in its area (bearing in mind it's just above the pricier "Walter's on the Beach" and just below the (unmatched in excellence but undeniably expensive) "Ugly Butterfly." This doesn't mean it's a cheap meal, but it offers excellent quality, fabulous views and friendly, enthusiastic service. Carbis Bay Estate clearly works hard to maintain its high quality reputation. We were also thrilled that they had a significant number of gluten free options for my wife to enjoy. She opted for a seafood pizza and was not only thrilled by the quality and quantity of seafood ON the pizza, but also the good texture and size of the base. (Gluten free pizza bases are notoriously disappointing.) I enjoyed an excellent burger and the menu included generous options for adding side dishes at no extra cost. The staff were all really welcoming and friendly too.

Always come here when we visit this part of the country. The staff are professional and it gets busy, so especially in the summer you need to book ahead. Our meal was a success and the food and drink was great. The incredible views of the sea make it so much more, another special occasion. Highly recommended.

Consistently good service, food, drinks and always a friendly professional welcome! We often stop by here for an impromptu supper or cocktails and snacks and whatever it is, we are never disappointed! Whether we're dressed for dinner or straight off the beach, we always receive superb service, every single time. We often notice subtle updates and changes to menu, cocktail list and interiors to keep it fresh, but we always appreciate the lovely service here above all else! It makes every visit an absolute pleasure.

Such a great experience, this restaurant has everything, amazing fresh food, friendly informative staff and the most beautiful location. I chose the Agra ginger chicken curry, so tasty with fabulous accompaniment s also with authentic homemade bread. My parter chose the skewered prawns with a choice of 2 sides. Both were equally delicious as was the wine. We chose to take advantage of the complimentary parking which is a bonus. If you’re getting away from the crowds of st. Ives this restaurant is a short walk from the Carbis Bay train station. We enjoyed a stroll on the beautiful beach directly beneath the restaurant.

Here for the third year and it has gone downhill badly. We don’t mind paying for good food and location.., but the food quality is now poor and the staff do not care. They serve food not as described on the menu - fishcakes with kimchi but without the kimchi. Also served boiled potatoes in a bowl with some shavings of onion on top and called it potato salad! They had previously served raw steak as medium rare, mostly fat and gristle. Despite the view and convenience, will NOT be going again.

We came her for lunch to celebrate our Dad's life. There were 12 of us so we had a private dining area with a balcony overlooking Carbis Bay. It was magnificent. The food was exceptional as was the non alcoholic G&T! The staff were very friendly & helpful, explaining dishes and the drinks menu. An absolutely beautiful hotel.

A fantastic starter and main meal. To full for dessert but looked lovely. Service was impeccable and friendly. Allowed our well behaved dog. Thanks to all of the waiters especially Georyiana.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Carbis Bay Hotel and whilst there we chose to dine at the Beech Club Restaurant. And what a joy it was. My wife had the Hake from the grill and I nestled into a wonderful Chicken Cesar salad and what a joy it was too. I don’t recall the staff having name tags so I can’t give any particular shout outs but those that we encountered were very pleasant indeed. We’re heading back there again tonight but this time I’m going for the Pizza!

The food, service and the views are all incredible here. We’ve been many times since this and will continue to do so with friends and family. A great atmosphere with staff that are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Beautiful spot for lunch overlooking Caribs Bay. Food was really tasty. Catered very well for multiple food allergies including gluten. Really helpful lady served us who knew the menu well & was knowledgeable on cross contamination. Most things could be adapted for allergy friendly diets. Both diners with and without allergens said how tasty the food was and free from chocolate on offer today a wonderful surprise for my littlie. Would highly recommend

Fabulous bright restaurant overlooking a beautiful beach. Attentive, friendly and excellent service throughout a wonderful relaxing lunch. This restaurant prides itself on attention to detail by very smart waiting staff. We had pizza and pasta and a kids meal well presented and flavoursome. Lovely ambience and background music, just a shame about the usual rubbish weather! Only negative drinks are very expensive, but then you’re paying for the location. Already looking forward to our next visit!

The beach Cafe has always been good but now has been refurbished and has a fantastic new menu. The staff were very attentive and the food divine. As a party of four we chose the BBQ Hake dish and Beef and Lamb ragout along with two incredible burgers. Live music played in the background adding to the ambience. We chose to drink the local Cornish white wine and soft drinks. An amazing evening with amazing views. Highly recommended.

You’re paying for the location . Way over priced £24 for a burger and few fries . £4 small bottle of coke . £12.95 child’s meal !!!!Can go to 5 state hotel in wales Celtic manor and get burger and fries for £16 ! Service really slow and had to wait a while for drinks and macaroni cheese to go with 1 meal . Service charge automatically added £16! I should have asked for it to be taken off . I would not visit this restaurant again way over priced for a mediocre meal which definitely was the best !!

We eat here regularly when on holiday in St Ives and frequently order the Greek pizza (but minus the olives) which on every other occasion has always arrived really hot, just how we like it. On this occasion, we could see the pizzas ready on the counter but there was a delay bringing them to us as it looked like the olives had been included and the chef was having to remove them on instruction from the waiter. So, when they eventually arrived, the pizzas were not as hot as usual and it wasn't long before they cooled down so we called a waiter, a bald man with a beard, who struggled to grasp what we we were telling him had happened, and didn't appear that happy about what we were asking him to do. He took them away to heat up and whilst they were a bit hotter when they came back, it didn't really last and they were at best luke warm by the time we had finished. We couldn't detect any apology when they came back to us but it was difficult to understand what the waiter was saying. The trouble on the night appeared to be that there wasn't any of the normal senior waiting staff on duty, only that bald man and a tall slim man who was more polite, so there was nobody to supervise when something was obviously going wrong. It was disappointing given the food we had there on previous occasions was always plenty hot enough but what was more disappointing was that the waiter didn't seem to appreciate properly what we were complaining about.

As a family of 8 we walked from St Ives to Carbis Bay and decided to have a drink at the beach house restaurant which is part of the Carbis bay hotel. All I can say is for the price of 2 drinks each it was an absolute rip off. For the cost I would expect the service to be impeccable but the 2 male waiters/bar staff on duty were so rude and unfriendly. We won't be visiting again.

Myself and my partner booked a table for dinner and we couldn’t fault it. We both had steak and it was cooked perfectly as we asked (medium rare) we finished the lot. Georgie was very lovely with great service and even let us try our bottle of Malbec before we went ahead and purchased, it went down stunning with our food. Thank you again!

Visiting St Ives for a few days with my daughter. Just came to Carbis bay beach club, wow! What a Beautiful location. I am extremely impressed with this place and the staff. Maxine is incredible. If every business had a Maxine then they would be blessed, she is an absolute credit. This is a must visit if you’re in the area.

This restaurant never disappoints, food service and views of the beach are all amazing, Maxine who served us went above and beyond to make sure that everything was just right, as a business owner I only wish my staff put in as much effort as she does, always smiling very polite and outstanding service

We popped here for a coffee outside and were surprised to find that well behaved dogs are allowed indoors too. Maxine and her team were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The view is mesmerising and the atmosphere very relaxing. We ended up having a drink and a light lunch - the food was delicious. We are looking forward to visiting again very soon.

We visited the Beach Club Restaurant at Carbis Bay for a family wedding reception. The setting (beachside) is fabulous. There were around 80 guests. The food was delicious! Canapés. The lamb was succulent. The evening buffet great. Staff were attentive. Thoroughly memorable and enjoyable experience.

What a massive disappointment our experience of this place was. We booked in good faith that the location and the association with the Carbis Bay Estate would mean we’d be in for a great night with wonderful food. How wrong we were. The atmosphere and interior was sparse and uninspiring, the floor was covered in food from previous diners. The food was average at best, and the prices are ridiculous - £21 for a dry, overcooked burger that sat under the heat lamp at the service hatch is an insult! And £25 for a cocktail?! Are you kidding? It’s a classic case of somewhere thinking the reputation of the location is enough to justify charging crazy prices for sub-standard food. The service wasn’t great either, apart from the woman who served our drinks who was friendly. Such a shame and a huge missed opportunity. Would not recommend.

We had an awful dinner here with family and friends. The location is beautiful, but the service and food do not match the prices. 21 pounds for a very average burger, 35 for a badly cooked steak and 18 pounds for a pizza with a really cheap base. We were brought the wrong meal twice, the light above us was flickering all night, we asked to have it turned off or mended but nothing was done. At half the price this food and service would have been okay, but not at the prices they charge.

The restaurant is situated on the beach, with lovely views. Although it was busy, when we called in advance the team were accommodating in terms of finding us a table. The food was very good and we didn't feel rushed during dinner. We had an informal, relaxing evening with lovely views. The restaurant is very family friendly.

To be honest I expected a bit better from somewhere within a "five star" venue.Admittedly we had the takeaway pizza but even so it looked like a margarita pizza with some random bits of seafood thrown on it.This could have been so much better

Please save yourselves the money. The location is great, the views lovely and the staff really tried but this is truly awful, overpriced food. £22.50 for king prawn and crayfish linguine?? A thick, shop-bought sauce, no crayfish and a tired handful of lettuce…probably one of the worst meals I’ve had the misfortune to encounter. Everyone else’s slightly better but not helped by watching them sit on the pass for 10 minutes.

Beautiful settings, over priced, terrible service. You simply can’t knock the stunning views of Carbis Bay. When the weather is good, it’s like being in the mist beautiful location. And setting. It’s chilled, easy and relaxing. However, the prices have gone up massively over the last few years and sadly the service has become worse. For £22 for a ceaser salad and £32 for steak and chips (which was lovely) you’d expect continually attentive service with at least a smile. Sadly, no smile, no attentiveness, wrong drinks orders, food went back twice for really simple reasons (and masks my overpriced) and not a happy member of staff in sight. I totally understand the footfall of a huge turnover of public (who can be rude and must be relentless for the staff!) but when your polite, friendly and understanding towards staff, you’d at least expect a smile and better service for nearly £200For lunch. I love this little gem of a place, it’s a beauty but please, attentive friendly staff does go a long way. If it wasn’t for the setting or name they trade on, I’m not sure how long this overly priced and non friendly place would survive for. Saying that, it is the perfect location so maybe. As a one off, suck it up and enjoy the beauty of it.

Myself husband and two children visited yesterday and what a stunning beach club, we could have been anywhere in the world simply stunning.Maxine very kindly got us booked in and made us feel so welcome. Absolutely fantastic . Views of the stunning beach . Staff headed by the amazing Maxine and the most delicious fried calamari and oysters we’ve had in a while . We had the burgers as our main which were sublime and the most delicious apricot frangipani tart . Relaxed comfy kiddie friendly beach cafe well worth a visit if you visit Carbis Bay ! 10/10 !!!

The location is beautiful but on visiting in July I was really shocked at the standard of the ladies toilets, on the first visit there was no toilet paper and a dirty floor and on the 2nd I queued for an age only for a staff member to emerge and the toilet again to be unkept and not in keeping with the luxury style of the venue. On one occasion I was asked to wear a mask when moving from the balcony to inside (to go to the loo) which seemed cheeky considering the poor hygiene in the bathrooms (and that masks are no longer standard). Overall it was a great setting for the beach view but standards need to improve.

Went in for cocktails and was not disappointed. Georgiana and her sister are cocktail queens with full measures of decent spirits. True they’re not the cheapest cocktails you’ll buy (£15 - 17) but for quality and location you’d expect a premium. Staff were friendly and efficient and it was dog friendly.

We booked a table in March for their beach restaurant for my daughters 9th birthday in July. That's right we booked In March for July to ensure we had a place. Three days before the booking they cancelled citing there staff where isolating due to covid Funny thing is though we walked past there today and they where hosting a wedding reception with easily 50+ being served . Way more than normal capacity .Clearly they are priotising profit above all else. I get it's been a tough year for the hospitality industry but just don't lie.Truth is the carbais bay benefits from an excellent location but really doesn't care about its customers .AVOID.

I booked my 40th birthday evening meal back in January for here for tomorrow night only to be called 48 hours before and have it cancelled. I had made lots of plans and deliveries but Carbis Bay didn’t seem to care at all unless you’re a hotel resident. Tried calling at least 10 times over the last couple of days to reorganise but phones are down and emails not answered to. Everywhere in St Ives now fully booked and birthday ruined. Utterly awful customer service.

We visited with our family and were looking forward to our night out. The menu has a good selection and the starters were nice. The mains were expensive and the portion sizes small. The food wasn’t great and you can definitely get much better food elsewhere.I am happy to pay for good service and nice food but I didn’t feel we got either.

We booked our table at the beginning of the year, long before G7 took place. So, we felt excited and had a keen sense of anticipation when Friday night came, the last night of our holiday together, and we were going to eat somewhere that had already made the news. We were rather sadly rudely awakaned.We arrived early so ordered some drinks to enjoy as we perused the menu. My friend ordered a martini (a cocktail advertised on the menu). He received a small glass of martini and ice. He sent it back and asked for the cocktail. He received some weird looking drink that was pink - not a standard martini. So, at £17 for a cocktail, he again sent it back and asked for a proper drink. The third time around it was disappointing but he drank it. I asked for slices of lime in my gin and tonic. It arrived with two wedges of lemon. I again asked for lime, not lemon; it reappeared with both the wedges of lemon still in the drink and two wedges of lime. All this negotiation took time. By which point, we had spotted that one of us had a menu that included oysters on it but the other three had menus which had no oysters; the website stated that they had oysters. The menu with the oysters was duly removed and we were told that oysters were no available.We then ordered glasses of wine to go with our starters but these didn't arrive. So we ordered glasses of wine to go with our main courses and these didn't arrive. Eventually, someone took the order again and they duly arrived.But, surely we were not there for the drink but the food? Indeed. The fish taco with cabbage and lime arrived - it was initially hard to see where the cabbage was and the taco was chewy (I am glad I didn't have dentures) but the fish was well cooked and there was plenty of lime. My husband's pizza was the feeblest example of a pizza I have seen in a very long time and my burger was compacted and flavourless with a rubbery texture. We contemplated whether ordering a dessert would simply prolong our misery and decided (having read through their exceptionally poor and unimaginative three options available) that we couldn't face anything else.And to top it all off, the restaurant were not able to find a booking for a taxi for us or provide us with any form of transport. We were staying locally so it would have been a few mins drive. It was pouring with rain and we had to walk back. A sodden and miserable end of what was not the fireworks night out to end our holiday we had hoped for.The bill arrived with no apology or discount for the poor service and inaccurate drinks. I understand that the G7 brought in other Cornish chefs during their stay - I can see why!

We’ve visited twice (other restaurants we booked unfortunately had to close due to staff having to isolate due to the pandemic).The location and views from the restaurant are absolutely stunning - right on the beach and truly outstanding.The food is pretty good. Menu a bit limited but there’s something for everyone and a decent standard.The service requires a massive improvement. Staff are pleasant but not at all attentive and you can wait and wait and wait for anyone to serve you after the initial order is taken/ food served. It’s not good enough and needs addressing as falls very short of hospitality expected.Finally the prices are ridiculously high for what is essentially an upmarket beach cafe. A couple of starters, a main, dessert and a couple of glasses of wine will set you back £100. I wouldn’t mind paying a premium for the view / setting but this is excessive.It’s a pity as this place has a lot going for it - location, setting, chef yet service (easily resolved) and greedy prices (£22.50 for fish and chips) let this place down.

Sorry to say that we agreed with other reviews about how overpriced and underwhelming this restaurant is. They couldn’t find a record of our booking but agreed to find a table for us when they saw our confirmatory email. Despite having several tables with a sea view free throughout the whole of our meal they stuck us at the back of the restaurant, saying that another table was laid for 4 and therefore not an option. We really didn’t feel welcome at all. The drinks were slow to come, eventually arriving some time after the starter had arrived. They had run out of various options and when the food came it just didn’t match up to the prices. A bottle of fizz, a fish taco starter, fish and chips and pasta came in at over £100 without service, all served at what really felt like a school dinner table. If it weren’t for the fact that tables are hard to come by in the area we wouldn’t have stayed. I really wouldn’t recommend this place at all

Had booked in here for a meal, and is a lovely location, and had been in previous years. it was the first meal of the holiday this year and was looking forward to it. It was a rainy day and on arrival where shown to our table. Because of the rain all the doors and windows where closed giving little or no ventilation which is not the best considering the current covid situation, I appreciate that it was a bit blustery but nether the less at least a couple of window should have been open. I had the muscles to start and the sea food linguine for main, the muscles where cooked fine but the sauce needed a bit more flavour, the linguine was nice, but nothing exceptional. The service wasn’t brilliant as needed to remind them a couple of times of different things we had ordered. The unfortunate thing is really the prices, I understand that you sometimes pay for the location and sometimes for the high quality of the food or service. I also understand that people have put prices up since covid too, but some how even considering all this it still seems excessively priced taking in all the aspects. So to sum up a pretty mediocre meal at a premium cost.

We booked here for our 5 year anniversary meal as we stayed in carbis bay - setting is nice and some staff were friendly. Honest opinion is that it was slightly underwhelming. Table wasn’t set when we sat down and they knew it was booked for an anniversary (well in advance) so any special little touches would of been nice such as a nice table but I had to ask to be seated where we did with a sea view as someone had just left it. I had the pornstar martini my partner had moet, we ordered the bread and Alioli starter which was enjoyable and the dip was lovely but slightly over charred the bread. I had the fish main meal and my partner had a pizza - chips were nice - fish still had the skin on underneath (probably a good thing to some but just not for me I had to pick it apart) his pizza was really good and the dough was nice lots of cheese etc. My side of mediteranian veg was abit sad looking but edible. All in all we did enjoy the food and the setting was nice but I think for the price you pay i would expect more from the experience and did enjoy my meals in st Ives harbour more as it was a friendlier atmosphere and the food and drinks were better the view was just as nice and they make more of a fuss of you. If I visited again would just go for the pizzas of a lunchtime as that was the best part of the meal :)

Had a lovely lunchtime visit to the Beach Restaurant and what amazing service from Maxine and her team the view is stunning Her professionalism and fantastic front of house service I watched and it was great to see Being in the Customer experience industry it was a pleasure to see how your personal interaction was genuinely authentic and you could see she enjoyed making her customers feel special -what a gem you have there Carbis Bay with Maxine !Well done Andrea

Was so looking forward to our meal here, having seen the menu and knowing the G7 were here the previous week we had high expectations! The menu we were handed to choose from was smaller than that on the website. The food started to arrive at the table and I was instantly disappointed with the presentation,it was all just thrown on the plate! My partners food had still not arrived around 10 minutes later which had gone unnoticed by the staff, I asked where his meal was and a big discussion between the staff ensued to obviously find out what happened. They apologised and said it was on it's way, it was at least another 10 mins before his food arrived by which time the rest of us had finished eating. We were given a free round of drinks but the experience was ruined to be honest, I expected so much more and with the prices they charge it was terrible, the food and the service! Some staff were very smart and some wandering around in hoodies and trainers, if you're charging £24 for what essentially is pasta bolognese and £22 for fish and chips you really need to up your game.

We had an impromptu lunch at the beach restaurant. Maxine and her staff were fantastic and Maxine went out of her way to accommodate us and make sure we had a lovely lunch. I wouldn’t hesitate to got back again. Food was great too.

Lovely experience in the beach club! Maxine was a Wonder Woman who hosted us and made us feel warm and welcome - thank you! The food was lovely and the view was incredible. We parked in the train station went to st ives and back for a lovely lunch at Caribs bay!

Full marks to the courteous young man who was in charge of who could park where - welcoming and politely enquiring.It was rather cold and windy so sitting outside was not a practical option. The interior was spacious with well spaced tables.There was a reasonable set of menu choices including for vegans. The food was good as was the service

Honestly, it was excellent. The restaurant was extended since previous visits a couple of years ago, which was a good move (used to be a little cold sometimes). They weren't taking reservations (not uncommon beachside). However, we turned up before midday and the very efficient lady told us she'd remember us if we returned in half an hour - lovely table by the terrace. (There was a fella who was less than polite who didn't get a table. Here's the thing, rudeness won't win any favours and many of Cornwall's hospitality staff have had to put up with poorly-mannered clientele and some restaurants are taking a position to safeguard staff.) The staff were efficient and friendly, delicious food was served in a timely manner and chef was clearly working his socks off - best pizza (Greek) I've had in ages, blooming lovely and was so pleased that they didn't mind boxing up the leftovers. Husband enjoyed the salmon pizza - no leftovers. Large teenager demolished enormous fish and chips and assisted smaller teenager with his salt and pepper squid (sizeable portion in for starter). This was not an inexpensive meal, although delicious and it was a special day. We appreciate that prices (for everything) have increased. However, I'm deducting a star because £10.50 for a tomato and mozzarella salad was too much considering it was only three thin slices of each... naughty mark up.

We visited Carbis Bay hotel and beach club restaurant on 3 different occasions during our recent holiday to Cornwall.We are a family of 5 with a dog in tow and the beach club were more than happy to accommodate us.Specific thanks should go to Maxine and Georgiana who ensured we had a wonderful experience. They had no issues catering for my dietary requirements either.The hotel seemed to be having some work done in preparation for the g7 summit but this did not impact us at all, all of the facilities remained open and we were mostly unaware of the works happening.I would 100% recommend visiting the beach, hotel and beach club. And if you do please send our regards to the wonderful staff!

We visit the beach restaurant every year, at least once for dinner and/or lunch. After so many months of not being able to eat out The Beach restaurant was one we were really looking forward to visiting. We visited with our family for dinner and had a really lovely experience. We booked our dinner a few weeks in advance and Lesley was so helpful with our requirements. We didn't realise our friends were holidaying at the same time and Lesley was really helpful in moving their booking so they could eat with us (on separate tables) but in the same marquee. It meant we had a dinner out with friends and family for the first time in nearly half a year so it was really special. We are due back later this week to visit the new Orangery for lunch. Its our yearly tradition that we have lunch here before my parents are picked up by their taxi for their train journey home and it is a lovely end to a lovely holiday. As always we will be back, except this time we will be back alone to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary!

Great service from Maxine & the team. The food was super tasty and the food choice was great. The view of the beach and the sea, along with the music, make for a lovely atmosphere.

Booked a table for our date night here for half 8. Arrived on time but stood for 10 minutes before being seated... not one person said I will be with you yet constantly walked past? When we eventually got served our table hadn't even been laid ( this meal was booked 3 weeks ago!) The only good thing I would say about this vist was the food was lush! Other than that I wouldn't bother visiting again didn't get offered a desert menu or tea/cofees so just paid up and went. Shame as we are locals and we always heard good things.

We visited the Beach Club at Carbis Bay twice during our holiday. Maxine served us on both occasions and we couldn't have asked for better service, she was excellent. Lovely cocktails there too. We will definitely return.

Absolutely loved visiting carbis bay for lunch and afternoon tea in the last few weeks. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble but most of all, it’s the view, for 2 hours I actually felt like I could have been in the Caribbean, such a calm atmosphere. The prices of food and drinks were actually very reasonable as well. Will definitely be returning.

Martine and Team are professional friendly, helpful and kind- (especially amazing working under covid restrictions ). They have made our meals at the promenade restaurant a total delight. Amazing beachfront views, tasty food and terrific staff - perfect - a big Thankyou.

My fiancé and I were supposed to get married this weekend in the South of France but we unfortunately had to cancel due to coronavirus. We decided to celebrate with lunch at the Carbis Bay Beach Club. Maxine was fantastic and looked after us so well creating a truly memorable experience on a very special day. Maxine also sourced some beautiful flowers to surprise my fiancé - nothing was too much trouble! The whole experience was absolutely amazing. We ate delicious seafood with an unbelievable view. 10/10 all round!

Hosted by Maxine she was very lovely and friendly met her before in Oct and she was lovely then got us a table rite away service was also really good Food amazing as u can see from my pic I love healthy fresh food and my Tuna Salad was divine the wine was again one of the best Rosa I’ve ever had and not normally a fan of Rosa it was my Husbends 50 th Birthday Lunch date and we both really enjoyed it had lovely walk on beach after def recommend this beach bar and there staff esp Maxine with her smile and kindness x

I have wanted to visit carbis bay hotel for a long time, so when we arrived today and they actually had a table free I was over the moon! The view is gorgeous, the food not so much. I paid £18 for a palm sized portion of lobster risotto, which was underseasoned and underwhelming. My partner had mussels, which came with what looked like undercooked French fries, and the mussels were in a sauce that was basically just cream. I've had food half the price and triple the quality! Save your money.

Celebrated a birthday lunch yesterday. Despite temporary relocation of beach club and Covid requirements, we had a really lovely meal. Service and welcome was great (thanks to Maxine and Georgiana for looking after us so well). Food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and warm assisted by the sunshine and beach front location. We have booked again

We stumbled across this restaurant today on a walk. We hadn’t booked but they managed to squeeze us in. The staff were amazing & couldn’t do enough for us. I visited with my husband and two daughters (7&3) and our daughters were treated like royalty. & even the manager came over to meet them. The views are breathtaking, looking out as cardis bay. My daughter said it was the best pizza and better than M&S pizza. Myself and husband had the standard afternoon tea. They offered us more sandwiches, scones etc which they never added to the bill. Would love to go back for an evening meal & would highly recommend it.

We have experienced poor service at Carbis Bay Hotel before and I continue to wonder how it continues with such poor levels of service and quality. We ate at a number of restaurants while in St Ives and they were all brilliantly managing as best as they could with the Covid restrictions. At Carbis Bay they seem to use Covid restrictions as an excuse to serve up cold food / cold coffee / warm wine and indifferent service at top end prices. On arrival I could sense a lack of interest and knowing they had a wood burning Pizza oven thought that would be a good choice. The waiting staff all looked very cold and overworked and tried their best but you can sense lack of enjoyment and this place had lack of enjoyment in spades. My pizza turned up and it had never seen the inside of a wood burner and was undercooked and was I suspect from the freezer. The burgers looked a little better but for the price we felt ripped off. We only ate one course and due to the painfully slow service it took us nearly 3 hours to eat our meal. I assume they will have to pick up their game for the G7 but at the moment their lack of interest in looking after customers is palpable. We won't return when there are so many better options locally.
