Awful We’re local and had family to visit so thought we’d have a walk down the beach & bite to eat here, we won’t be back! Obviously weren’t expecting Michelin star food but waited 45 minutes for dry, bland food with don’t give a care service. Such a shame as you have a great location. Don’t mind basic food if it’s done well but all 6 of us left still hungry.

Was on a short out-of-season break for dog-walking on the beach. Came across the Sundowner Cafe, and so glad we did! The owner and staff were lovely and the breakfast was great! Will certainly look to visit / stay in Brean again, and this is greatly due to finding this gem just off the beach!

My nephew was home from abroad unexpectedly. We needed somewhere for all the family to get together, about 30 of us. At short notice, they provided a lovely space for us all to be together, plus an amazing buffet spread. The paying bar was staffed by lovely friendly staff who could not do enough for us. Would go again for sure. Great for holiday evening out, right by the beach.

Disgusted with the ignorance and terrible service from the cafe. The 'chefs' seemed incapable of pouring a portion of butternut squash soup. 30 minutes waiting patiently as they regularly looked out at us and then ignored us. When it came it was only one third full. We asked for it to be filled and they just left it there on the kitchen hatch. It was paid for but we just left before tempers flared! Sort your staff out. Rude and incompetent.

We had been on the beach for a few hours, and decided on a drink before heading back to our caravan nearby for our evening meal. The garden of The Sundowner gives a nice view of the beach and horizon. After a drink we decided to order food from the menu. We ordered one steak pie, chips and peas, and one chicken and bacon salad. Sadly both meals were of very poor quality. There was hardly any bacon on the salad, and the salad was diced very small. It was tasteless. The supplied mayonnaise bottle was grubby, and felt as if it may not have been in the fridge previous to being served. The pie was absolutely rock hard. I believe it may have been in a warmer all day as it was not easy to penetrate. The interior was hot and tasted OK, but that was the only edible part of the pie. The supplied ramakin of gravy had an odd 'tang' to it, so I didn't use it. I have no axe to grind, it may have been a one off, but I wouldn't eat there again.

Extremely disappointing visit. We were shocked to see that the food was served on a tin plate - something I've not eaten from since sitting around a camp fire with Girl Guides! Plate cold, food barely warm, vegetarian sausages over-fried and tasteless. Bacon and chips appeared to have been kept warm for several hours, bacon hard to eat as it was dried up. Social distancing not a problem as we were the only diners. Plates were removed with the food on,.

We were staying at one of the caravans on the campsite and decided to get a takeaway pizza and garlic bread from the on site restaurant. We decided to order and pay online as that suited us in these COVID days we live in. It was very easy to order and collect when ready. But you can order food and drink in person as well. The pizza was delicious and still hot when we got back to caravan with it. There is plenty of outdoor seating available if you wanted to eat outside. There is also a children’s playground. It’s literally right on the sand dunes so next to the beach. Also lots of covered canopies for when the weather isn’t brilliant. I would have loved to have sat there with a drink and watch the sunset, but the weather put me off.

This restaurant is part of the Tiffin Group that appears to be concentrated in two UK locations: Jersey, and area just south of Bristol, with outlets in Clevedon, Kingston Seymour and Brean. The Clevedon and Brean outlets offer snacks and drinks in the form of bar and café combinations, whereas the Kingston Seymour outlet is an unlicenced café. The Clevedon Beach Eatery is the original Tiffin outlet. In late August last year we visited the Tiffin Bullock Farm Café, at Kingston Seymour, and had an excellent lunch. It had been our first venture out after the first lockdown ended in early July. We had remained cautious, and with the Bullock Farm offering outside dining, it had made us feel safer. Now with restaurants again able to open for outside dining we looked at the potential for a revisit to Bullock Farm, but discovered the Tiffin Group’s other outlets. We decided that the Sundowner Café Bar, with its 300+ outside capacity, assured us that we would feel safe for a get together with my daughter. The Sundowner was open, it was near to where my daughter lives, the sun was shining, the restaurant was right on Brean Sands, and schools had reopened after the Easter break; so far fewer parent and child groups. Our decision was made, and we arrived just on 12:45: which was perfect for lunch. The Sundowner is sheltered by dunes on the beachside, as part of the of the Beachside Holiday Park but, I suspect, run as a concessionary business. The main vehicular entrance to the holiday park is off of Coast Road. There is a security point (at which you need to check-in) and the barrier gate at the bottom of the one-way system is opened for you. The service road leads to a generous carparking area between the caravan park and the start of the dunes that border the beach. To the extreme left of this carpark is the Sundowners Café Bar. The extensive lawns and small decked areas have good socially distanced tables, some with parasols. Each table would seat up to 6 people but 4 would be more comfortable. Menus are on boards attached to fencing and walls. A limited menu offers a range of snacks including pizzas, fish and chips, cream teas, sandwiches and cakes/pastries. Having made your choices you go to a serving hatch at the rear (given that the front of the café is facing the beach) of the café area. There is more seating in the café (closed due to the restrictions) and a covered and integral deck area: this was open but mostly unused on what was a gorgeous day. It was not busy, but I suppose there were between 20 and 30 customers. So, social distancing was easy and we certainly felt very safe. The very pleasant young woman serving took my order efficiently and I ordered three fish and chip meals, a large white wine (Chilean Sauv Blanc) for me, a vodka orange for my daughter (a free upgrade to a double-shot was offered and accepted), and a tea for my partner (being the driver). The whole bill came to a few pence under £45.We carried drinks back, collected cutlery and condiments from a well signed station outside of the front of the café area and within 10 minutes or so our meals arrived. The meals looked splendid and exactly as the fish and chips had looked when I had the same meal the previous year at Bullock Farm. The fish (cod) was perfectly cooked, really fresh fish, non-greasy chips, mushy peas, and tartare sauce. Just wonderful and with the setting, a much enjoyed occasion. When we had finished our lunch we walked up and over the dunes to Brean Beach and spent over an hour walking on the sands. The breeze off-of the Bristol Channel was a bit chilly, certainly refreshening, and beautiful in the spring sunshine. We then went back to the Sundowner for a hot beverage, we resisted the tempting cakes and pastries. We then picked-up the car for our journey home.We will return, and will look forward to that until we do.

I haven't been to the Sundowner since the new owners took over, but spurred on by positive reviews we thought we would give it a go for Sunday lunch. The food was really excellent and worth paying a little more for. The pork was very tender and served with crackling which I love. All the veg were cooked to perfection. Shocking food and service. Rebooked to come to Brean last year due to the Sundowner and their service but felt seriously let down.Changed procedures daily for Covid restrictions but neglected to tell customers of the new ones meaning that you waited for your food to be delivered to your table only to find that you were meant to wait in a crowded room to collect it. Staff were very polite and efficient but manager didn't appear to know one hand from another and food was terrible. LET DOWN

This cafe which is more of a restaurant/bar serves excellent quality food at reasonable prices, the chips are probably the best I’ve eaten, the 3 times we came we sampled most of the menu and it was all excellent, from breakfast baps, to burgers, to chips and fish goujons, the staff are very friendly and the area is COVID safe, very practical as you can eat in or takeaway and it’s right on the beach!!! Have visited this place twice after it has been renovated and now taken over by a new management Co (Tiffin). Our first visit on the day after they opened was fine when it was quiet, but our 2nd visit today (16 Feb) for Sunday lunch was a disaster. There was no co-ordination amongst their entire staff team and none of them seemed know what the other was meant to be doing or had responsibility for. The food was good enough .....a pleasant young lady took our order , someone else delivered the main course to our table , some else cleared the plates away ,,,we waited for what seemed ;like an eternity for the dessert to arrive , to be told by yet someone else it would be less than 2 mins ....and we were still waiting for it 30mins later. Enough was enough and we couldn't wait around any longer , so we asked for our bill and we got some else's bill which was over twice the amount what ours should have been !! Monty Python would have been put in the shade by the comedy of errors by this lot today. With respect I think that the entire staff need to sit down with each other and agree amongst yourselves who is meant to be doing what. Today you failed miserably to deliver the most basic of service.

I just posted on Facebook It’s sad when a young family on holiday can’t afford to feed themselves in this newly renovated cafe. Please note most of the comments on Tiffins page reflects the service provided by the previous Managers Dave and Vic. It’s all very well to partly renovate a cafe but you should cater for your customers. There is nowhere dry to sit outside with your dog as the only dry space taken up by clutter. This previous beach cafe’ with all its charm and down to earth attitude has been turned into a snobby so called restaurant

A great little find. My family came here 2 days in a row for breakfast and snacks and found it a lovely experience. We walked to it from the beach and it was a great stop off for our beach stroll.

Seems to be the only place open in brean for food the week we were there, had to sit outside due to having a dog but not a problem as the sun was shining.

went for a morning walk across the beach and stopped of at this beachside bar for a coffee, the views across the bay were fabulous and i could imagine sitting out in the garden in the summer would be good. Nice coffee, friendly welcome and although we did not eat there were lots of people having breakfast and it looked really nice.

We have been to the Sundowner twice over the last two weeks. The first week they were having problems with their coffee machine and replaced my coffee plus gave us a free one for our next visit as it wasn't very good. The next time both our coffees were really nice and hot. Our friends had the chocolate and said it could have been alot more flavoured. The teacakes were lovely and the situation really nice after a walk along the beach with the dogs.

I am so sad to write this post but it’s important the owner/bar man I overheard today is aware that his comments were noted. I have been to this cafe/bar many times and while it’s not a “posh” place it’s a nice place to sit and have a drink. However, today I sat and overheard the owner (I believe.. or maybe just a barman!) talking to a family about the cliental of the sundowner. Apparently, they are all “Jeremy Kyle people with 15 kids they can’t look after.” He also said the people who drink at the sundowner are as bad as the “RJs people”- RJs being the club onsite at the caravan park across the road. I would like to remind this man that these people are the people that pay your wages, without the “chavvy tourists” you wouldn’t have much trade. Such a sad attitude to have!! I really hope you stop and think next time you speak about YOUR customers in such an awful way!!

What a lovely find this place was on our first day of a weeks holiday in Somerset. We stayed across the road at Holiday Resort Unity caravan park, we had a walk around on our first day there to get our bearings and wandered onto Yerrow Beach, on the way back from the beach is this café/bar, we went it to have a drink, there is a large beer garden at the back which overlooks the sea and sand dunes, it really is the most beautiful spot, we loved it and came in every day of our holidays. My husband bought me a cocktail one day which was lovely! We ate there for dinner one evening and the food was really nice, one day we thought we would just have a snack and a beer after a long walk along the beach, it was a huge portion, shared between the 2 of us we couldn’t manage them all, but they were very tasty! If you are in this area you must visit , it really is a lovely little place.

Parking right on the beach this is a coffee shop come bar with beautiful breakfast. Dog friendly lots of bowls and a water tap. Large grass area over looking the sea. Had a few drinks in here on a really hot day. Live singer outside was really good and was a little sun trap. Definitely return here again.

Enjoyable afternoon/evening. Sat outside with dogs listening to entertainment. Lovely play area for children and easy access to the beach. It would be better if dogs were allowed in the bar as would only visit in good weather otherwise.

We had lunch here when we arrived on the caravan park and it was very nice, quick service and reasonable prices however breakfast the following morning was the complete opposite. It took about 2 hours to arrive and lots of people were complaining, also was all deep fried and very greasy - coffee and tea very watery. I would eat lunch here again or just go for drinks as they had afternoon entertainment outside both Saturday and Sunday (around the world cup) but breakfast? Never again.

We came here for the classic car day in June, apparently an annual event. It took us ages to find the venue but, once we did, we had a wonderful time. The Sundowner organises this event and had a band playing on the grassy area. It was too busy to get drinks at lunchtime but we'd brought a flask as back-up and drank that. We also went for a walk on nearby Brean Sands. By late afternoon people were drifting away and we returned to The Sundowner and bought chips for two, a cider and a tea. The staff must have been tired by then but were very friendly and served us promptly. The customers had taken most of the salt cellars but one of the teenagers who was helping out (I think it's a family business) found us one. We will definitely be back next year!

I like Blackmore Farm tearooms usually but today service was poor. Ordered 2 flat white coffees both lukewarm. Also ordered 2 cream teas, since when does a ceram tea come with no tea? If the assistant had said I needed to order tea separately I would have. I'd finished my scone before knowing. Spoilt the experience.
