Popped in here after our time was up in Paws for Thoughts (see seperate review) and treated myself and my friend to a further coffee. The place has a cool laid back vibe and the owner was lovely and happy to chat to us. Id like to return to sample some of the cakes and maybe try a different hot drink as vegan options are available. I will definetly come back next time in Romsey.

Sundae's Child is a small café on the market square in Romsey. It is staffed by a group of young girls who couldn't be more helpful. There is a constant stream of customers coming in to buy their speciality ice creams. We ordered cakes and scones for tea. I was expecting the staff at the counter to just put them on a plate and hand them to us but no, they took them away and then brought all laid out like immaculately presented like a proper cream tea. It's cheap too. They had run out of cream so the manager went out to a local shop to buy some fresh cream. The only down side is that there are only a few tables and there was a wasp buzzing around.

I am a regular visitor of Sundae's Child and love the range of ice cream on offer. I often take my kids for takeaway ice creams and have never had a complaint on the quality of food on offer. It is not cheap ice cream, but very tasty! Unfortunately I was disappointed by the customer experience on Saturday. I visited with my son and husband and we seated ourselves upstairs on this occasion for table service. My son chose a cone with ice cream. I asked for a sundae to share with my husband, as previously I have shared one with my daughter (they are very large). We were told by the person serving us that you are no longer allowed to share food! I was asked to order 2 sundaes instead, but I didn't want that amount of food. To be honest, if I hadn't already ordered an ice cream for my son I would have left. We ended up ordering 2 separate cones that came to the same total price, but without the joy of sharing! I think this new policy is not very customer friendly and would make it unlikely for me to get table service here again. This is a real shame, as the quality of food is excellent. I hope the Manager reviews this policy very carefully after this feedback. I'm sure others told the same information would probably feel the same way. I have shared my experience personally with my friends who also regularly visit.

We came across this wonderful place today and will definitely be coming back. I don't think I've had such amazing service for a very long time. The girl serving the ice cream was warm friendly and knowlegable. The gentleman at the till was also friendly it was quite wonderful service. The ice cream was utterly delicious. I don't think I've ever tasted ice cream so wonderful. Would visit Romsey again just to have some of the ice cream from this lovely establishment.

I’d promised my daughter an ice cream, but couldn’t resist having one too! Lovely Christmassy ice cream flavours - chocolate orange, crumble, stollen, amaretti etc. I was also surprised at how much space there was - I managed to manoeuvre the baby’s pram around just fine, and found comfy sofas at the back. Perfect. Weirdly, I remember this building being a pet shop when I was little - I got my first hamsters from there 🤣. All very different now, but a lovely nostalgic trip to my old home town.

It's not often you come across a place that does tasty savoury eats and tasty sweet treats, but this one does, nice seating area with things to keep children entertained, my only gripe is, please take the quiche off the counter, you can advertise it by replacing it with a photo, not good to serve it as not at all hygienic people's hair and breath e.t.c.

At my cousin's wedding last weekend, Sundae's Child had an ice cream stall set up there. I had never had ice cream from them before and it was absolutely delicious! They brought along snickers, blueberry, chocolate and mango passionfruit flavour ice cream. They also let us keep the leftover ice cream. We visited Sundae's Child yesterday, on recommendation from a friend and because they serve coffee from Winchester Coffee Roasters which is the best coffee around! We ordered coffees, milkshakes, ice creams and a waffle which a friend and I wanted to share. When the waitress delivered the waffle to our table we politely requested an extra knife and fork to enable us to share only to be told company policy didn't encourage sharing and they weren't able to provide any additional cutlery! It was suggested that if we didn't want a whole one, we should have ordered a half portion. I pointed out this option wasn't on the menu and the waitress said the menu's were in the process of being updated! To say we were dismayed is an understatement. We continued to share our waffle using the teaspoon from our coffee and the one knife and fork we were allowed! Such a shame they have such uncustomer friendly company policies and on this basis we wouldn't consider visiting again. Carlos or Sprinkles every time for us!

The lady in front of us was given the wrong ice cream, the error was corrected by knocking the wrong ice cream back into the tub.We ordered three ice creams, two of these were served incorrectly with the same method of correcting the error. I was interested to know what ice creams were gluten free and after a not quite confident answer I decided to opt for a coffee instead. I could not be sure any ice cream I asked for did not have wafer (with gluten, which I am allergic too) in it anyway due it being often returned to the tubs after being served incorrectly anyway. I will ignore the gluten containing biscuit that came with my coffee, the coffee was okay but overall, the children reckoned they have had better ice cream in many places and I can not overlook the fact that ice cream was repeatedly being served wrongly and returned to the tubs to be served again. This was being done gain when we were about to leave, another group of customers were being served the wrong ice cream andit was being put back to be served again.I can understandif you make that many mistakes it must be hard to through it out when you get an order wrong but really, can you serve it again to someone else?Overall a great disappointment which is a shame, I hoped it would be great.

Went to Romsey on a Sunday only to find most places shut. My elderly mother needed to find somewhere to eat and sit down - and so did I. We found Sundaes Child and intially thought it was just an ice cream palour - but its more than that. They do some hot food too. My mother said that her panini was one of the best she has ever had. I had a toasted sandwich and that was excellent too - and the hot drinks were served with a little baby ice cream cone on the side. Just lovely and such a treat. It was all very reasonably priced too. The staff were friendly and helpful. And I love the tables with the game boards set in them. I would go back any day. This lovely little ice cream shop can get very busy as it is so popular; we have had to queue outside the door at times! However, it is worth it. Decent size scoops of a variety of flavours which changes around regularly. We waited ages for the savoury crepes, both my husband's and mine were like eating cardboard, his was well filled whereas mine being the last of three with the same filling had very little in it. We ordered 4 sundae's and a two scoop cup. After 5 mins they came up to us and said that we had made a big order so would be about 20 minutes. We accepted that. However after 30 minutes the waiter returned and said that they were just being made. By this point the place was pretty empty. They eventually brought them to us after waiting 50 minutes. It made it worse that the manager laughed it off and said sorry but closer to 30 mins than 20 and was not impressed when we corrected her saying it was 50 minutes. We visited Sundaes Child on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and two children - 9 & 1.My husband and I had a cheese and chutney sandwich which was lovely and fresh and the children shared a kids lunchbox as they wanted puddings! The kids lunchbox was actually fab value and came with half a round of sandwich, grapes and cucumber chunks, crisps, drink and a pot of vanilla ice cream (which was perfect for the baby).Desert was lovely - I had a rocky road sundae. Having eaten in loads of other ice cream places the huge advantage of this place is that the rocky road was full all the way to the bottom of marshmallows, rocky road chunks, biscuits & chocolate sauce rather than just plonked on top. My son had toffee and white chocolate waffle which he loved but could only manage around half! My husband had a bakewell slice (ok apparently) and two (!) milkshakes (fantastic apparently)With a coffee on top the whole bill came to £30 which I thought was reasonable. From memory, Sprinkles charge around £8 a sundae? This was cheaper at £5.95 and far superior! We will be back!

We came here to celebrate a friends birthday, and we were wowed by the unique and amazing afternoon tea. The food looked a little on the small side, but we struggled to eat it all. We had brownies for cakes and they were so rich and amazing a small bit was more than enough. We also had mini sundaes and they were fab too. Will be going back, and highly recommend

Such a great parlour, visited with my little girl who does not like ice cream!! We had waffles and my daughter had waffle with maple syrup and no ice cream......she loved it! My verdict on the ice cream was 10/10 gorgeous!! We will be back!

I can imagine it's quite nice if you like ice cream. I don't like ice cream really. Lots of flavours to choose from. There are sorbets too... but I don't really like sorbets either.

Sundaes Child is mainly an ice cream parlour but that seriously undersells what's on offer. I first tasted their ice creams from a mobile cart at Romsey's Beggars Fair. They were so good. I wasn't even looking for an ice cream but was tempted after watching all the smiling faces. The friendly efficient service all added to the feeling you were being treated.

We have enjoyed their great ice cream before but this time the flavour choices were even better than normal & plenty of them ...... probably 20. All homemade recipes & reminiscent of true Gelato recipes.Prices are what you might expect for these quality products but value seems to be in the small up toLarge tubs - however , the treat is the key element of this small shop in the centre of Romsey just off of the Abbey ; so whatever you chose is not going to break the bank. The business has internal seating areas on two floors with plenty of space upstairs where a much wider range of food & pastries etc can be found.Gorgeous products & well worth a detour.

Fantastic choice of ice cream all made on premises and served by really friendly staff. They are a bit overpriced but that is okay if the quality is good

Always worth a visit, heaven for children. Not cheap but I think you get what you pay for. Agree with other reviews that some staff are better at customer service (and scooping out a bit of the topping!) than others. Recommended.

Inside is not as trendy or stylish as some Ice cream bars I have been to.The building itself is old and beautiful. But I feel they need to add a bit more creativity to make it a more fun place to visit. The ice cream is nice and very fresh and natural tasting ( a little rich for me ) I think they make it on site. The sorbets and frozen yogurts are out of this world... yum. The staff are friendly and I would recommend a visit.

This is bar far the best I've cream in the south. Knocks socks off the well advertised sprinkles which dirty and over packed. So many flavours that is constantly updated so you never know what they are going to have in there week by week. Total must on a hot day!

Lovely ice cream, just a shame the portion sizes are very dependent on who serves you (as another reviewer stated). Somehow I've always had bad luck when visiting and have never been given a whole scoop and they never put in any of the nice lumpy bits of the flavours in my cone, unlike my partner who has had normal sized scoops of ice cream. Bit disappointing really so I'd rather go somewhere where I know I will get a normal size scoop at least.

Wow what a range of ice cream! All made on the premises from fresh in season produce. Hundreds of sprinkles and toppings making it impossible to have just one! If you want to try some different flavours of ice cream pop along to Sundee's Child.

Ice creams are superb, fabulous flavours and good size portions! BUT the Staff could be so much more friendly. I visit here frequently and pretty much always find the staff polite and helpful, but definitely NOT friendly, almost surly at times and occasionally even rude! Almost puts me off going, but as I say the ice cream is delicious. Also I would like to have the opportunity of smaller sized ice cream, I am very petite and like to have very small sizes, I have often asked but I am "not allowed" a 'child' sized portion. So I buy a standard size and throw half of it away! Again this puts me off somewhat and I go there far less often than I used to!

Enjoyed this Ice Cream Parlour in its previous venue. Now it is on more than one level it feels somehow 'different'. Lots of supply boxes hanging around the are on the lower first floor which spoilt the ice cream experience.Ice cream flavours are still good though.

Visited here for our customary “breakfast Friday” Came here 7 years ago when Pork Pie Sam Aldridge failed the Belly Gut Buster!!! I won’t lie! On that occasion the portion was big but the quality was poor. However this time, I can honestly say it’s one of the best breakfast we’ve ever had!!!! Everything was bang on and we were extremely happy with the offering. Had same great food ( fried bread was on point ) the staff were great and and we were full up like a tin can of crackers after. The apprentice Harvey was so impressed he tried to eat his fingers. And Bald Les took a shine to the lady behind the Eastern European Grol working the till All in All we had a great time, and next time we need a breakfast, some oil, and a hub cap we will be sure to pop in. Cheers and All The Best 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We booked here as a Birthday Meal and pre warned when booking that in the party we had a Gluten Free Allergy requirement. When booking in at the Restaurant we asked for a Gluten Free Menu. Our order was taken and within the 5 for £20 starters requested 2 lots of GF Garlic Bread. When the starters came out all were on one platter and not separated and after a couple of minutes waiting requested plates to be able to eat/share the food and at this point was told 'by the way the Garlic Bread is not Gluten Free, we didn't have any'. Thankfully my son had not started to eat!!! We then asked for the Food to be taken away and was brought back 10 minutes later as 2 no Gluten Free Buns toasted with Garlic Butter. The main meal of a Burger and Chips came out with the same bun, which was not eaten as already had enough...... Safe to say the 10% added service fee we took off. Very disappointed.

Looks and feels like a pub, with comfy seating and fireplace, but the food was amazing and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Had a great meal here.

We looked on Tripadvisor when travelling nearby and did a quick detour for lunch and are so glad we did! We (humans and a dog!) received a very warm welcome. I had the rainbow trout and I can honestly say it was the nicest meal I’ve had in a long time, my husband also very much enjoyed his steak pie. It made his day when he realised the fruit crumble was rhubarb as that’s always been his absolute fave! If in the area again we would definitely return!

On a chilly early spring day - after buying onion sets and seed potatoes in this high quality family-run garden centre - we had an early lunch in their warm conservatory café: delicious soup, bread and particularly outstandingly yummy - and large! - cheese scones - all home made. The cheese scones are by far the best in a 10 mile radius of Romsey! The garden centre is also known locally for the wide collection of high quality dahlia plants.
