Sun Wah in Rother

Very warm welcome but the two young people were very unsure about the food when asked questions. When the food was collected, most of it was lovely, albeit smaller portions than our usual Chinese takeaway ( but Sun Wah is a bit cheaper as expected for smaller portions). However, the one negative was the king prawn balls in batter had not been properly shelled (we expected the tails to still be on) but after eating just 3, I found each had pieces of shell so could eat no more. They also do not accept card payments, just cash. Such a shame as the rest was very tasty. We will stick with our regular takeaway in future.

Can't Comment on the Food as I didn't get any!. I ordered and got told that it would be 45 mins as the kitchen was busy. Although I appreciate Chinese kitchens are busy at weekends I appreciate the truth a whole lot more. After waiting for nearly 2 hours I asked for my money back. I was lied to 3 times in total about when my order would be ready before I lead the charge in asking for a refund and going elsewhere. 3 other customers also wanted a refund for waiting over their order times. I think just be honest with customers about the true waiting times for orders instead of answering the phone and lying to more while we all wait patiently in vein!!!.. I will never use this establishment again I would rather go Sun Wah else!

Enjoyed many meals from Sun Wah

Went for the first time as this isn’t that close for me and it was fantastic! Great tasty food and very well priced too.. chicken curry, pork chow mein, bbq spare ribs were lovely! This would be my regular if I lived closer!

Very pleased with all the dishes we had today, especially sweet and sour chicken balls. Good quick service also. Will definitely use again.

I’ll say why I gave one star off in a second. First, this place is 100% worth going to as they’ve been there 50 years!! They PACK out your food with meat, and it’s succulent meat and not dry!! They give you lots and it’s value for money. However, we do love prawn balls, and theirs are like all uniform and have come out of the freezer by the looks of it. Other Chinese restaurants batter their prawns themselves and fry them up. So that one dish lets it down. But my husband LOVED the food he ordered and said it was much better quality than our local. Also, they have different types of rice noodle dishes, not just the mixed variety! So something for the gluten fans. :)

This was the worst chinese we have ever eaten...Beef in black bean sauce, the beef was so tough we couldnt chew it. The sweet and sour chicken, hong kong style was over cooked and hard, and the beef chow mein, again the beef was so tough . Such a shame , was our monthly treat .!...Wont be going here again !

We ordered a large takeaway on Friday night, the food was excellent, it was piping hot and all the dishes were delicious, the meat dishes were packed full of meat, we had last years menu and were very impressed to discover they had not increased their prices since then, very good Chinese takeaway and the wait was not bad only 30-40 minutes on a Friday night.

Very very bad. Ordered for collection at 5.30pm, told 1 hr, arrived to collect and asked how long was told 'they dont know' very rude staff. had to wait another 20 mins - was also over charged. They then only had 1 of the 2 drinks I'd ordered and paid for (over charged again). Got home 5 mins down road and everything was stone cold even the sauce. No steam nothing. Completely inedible even my toddler wouldn't eat it. Called to complain at 730pm. and was told no manager there until 10pm. Absolutely disgusted. If I could give zero stars I would.

Really good food from Sun Wah. Daughter loved her ribs, son loved his chicken satay, I lived my crispy chilli beef. It's our new favourite.

Really good food from here. Not greasy, like you get from a lot of Chinese's. Chow mein was tasty. Ribs were amazing. Prawns in yellow bean sauce...just wow. Service was friendly. Definitely going back.

What a find...stopped using Hastings chinese takeaway due to rip off prices. What we have had so far has been real quality, good portions and good prices. Our go to chinese now, worth the drive. Parking is easy opposite lidl. Crispy chilli beef is spot on. Great taste

bought salt and pepper prawns from here and they were so dry, cold and were not covered in any sort of batter at all. Do not order these from here!!

We've tried a number of Chinese take aways but this one is definitely the best! Low prices, freshly cooked (very tasty) food. Nicest chilli beef and roast duck chow mein I've had. Not dripping with grease like some can be. Very friendly staff too, cannot fault them at all.

Just enjoyed a lovely Chinese from Sun Wah! We walked in to order and the lady who served us was very friendly greeting us with a big smile. I was worried as we’ve had some very greasy Chinese takeaways from other restraunts but Sun Wah was lovely. The grilled dumplings were nice and crispy and the chicken was amazing. We will defiantly be back.

We are fans of chinese food so have pretty much tried them all in the surrounding area, but not one of them surpasses this shop. The meat ratio has to be at the very least 50% more than other shops. They literally pack it in the containers! Never had a bad one to date in over 30 years whether it has changed hands at any point or not. Always clean, staff are friendly, prices are low and the food delicious. The shop is always busy with the phone taking orders, and it shows they have no need to deliver because of their already heavy customer base. (Wish they would though! Lol) Most thoroughly recommended

The sun wah has an excellent reputation, it gets very busy, the food is the best for miles around, its just a shame they don't deliver!

Placed a large order for dinner with my family. Everyone was very happy, thoroughly enjoyed all of it and the lady was nice enough to give us extra fortune cookies.

We have been using this Takeaway for over 15 years, they cook every fresh, they make everything from scratch. When busy you may have to wait for your order but it is worth the wait. We have used others in the area for the home delivery but still have along way to go to get to this standard.
