Rude, condescending guy taking orders on the phone. Fatty, dry bbq spare ribs (no sauce) and Thai red curry should in inverted commas - gloopy pasty muck. Will be avoiding in future.

Ha ha this place is an absolute joke…. Closes at 9pm ok so ring for a delivery (don’t really care how long it takes), sorry the time was 19.55, response ‘too busy to take delivery orders….seriously) Loyalty/Customer Service pppffttt

This is a great Chinese that many people use every week - it’s a bit annoying 😂 - I’ve lived in quite a few few places and always seek out the best in the area - this is the best I’ve found in striking distance and as good as any I’ve known, seems to be a lot of people with some strange reviews on here too that are negative, I think most people will be more than happy!!!

The quality here has been pretty consistent and, of late, consistently good which is great. Having a reliably good Chinese takeaway in the village is a blessing.

This was our go to Chinese takeaway when we lived in Moulton even though it was a fair distance to travel. We never had a bad meal from here. We moved to Anglesey twelve years ago and ever since have truthfully never found a Chinese meal to match the quality and quantity as from the sun kong. We spoke about the spare ribs on probably a weekly basis wishing we could find somewhere locally to us who could get close to serving ribs of their standard. Well, my wish came true on Thursday night. I was camping in my motorhome in Bostock whilst visiting family and friends and at last got the opportunity to visit the sun kong. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was first class and plenty of it and oh, those ribs were to die for. I can’t wait for my next chance to visit.

An excellent standard throughout from order, delivery and presentation and taste of starter, main and rice. Thanks to all an excellent example of takeaway food.

Awful food, stone cold.. may as well have had a microwave meal as it ended up in the microwave before being edible.. not sure why I bothered parting with my money after the last time.

I'm somewhat a connoisseur of Chinese food and rather fond of it too, to the point where I've learnt to cook and prepare a number of popular Chinese meals. As such, I understand the culonary skills needed to produce a dish to perfection. It's an art the Chinese are best at, or so you would think. That's why you'll be surprised to read that on the last three occasions, the Sun Kong has managed to overcook the chicken used in the making of its Sweet n' Sour chicken, my favourite dish. Tough as a boot? Well... I'm afraid so. The chicken enjoyed in Sweet n' Sour should be beautifully soft and tender, which means the meat used has to be good quality, fresh and above all, fried in its batter for all but a few minutes. Any longer and it turns out very dry and difficult to chew. Perhaps Sun Kong (in its efforts to produce takeaways at speed...) pre-cooks and then re-heats some of its food, such that when requested, it's easier and quicker to turn around? Obviously it's a question only the Sun Kong can answer. But still... whether it's because of this or simply because the meat is fried in the wok for far too long, I suggest the owners and chefs take my feedback on board. Frankly, it's an easy fix. Should things stay as they are, locals like me will travel to the Canton Chinese Takeaway in Knutsford, which although a few miles away just happens to get its Sweet n' Sour Chicken 'spot on' every time.

Why do you not train your staff ?!! Several orders now wrong it’s getting laughed at by so many people now as in you never know what you will get ! Sort yourself out

Probably the best Chinese Takeaway I’ve known - I drive 30mins from my house to go here it’s that good!

Ordered via FB Messenger a meal to be collected in two hours time. The process worked brilliantly, collection was easy and social distancing adhered to. The food, Egg Fried Rice, S & S King Prawn, Shredded Chilli Beef, Chicken & Cashews, Prawn Crackers and Seaweed, all very nice. The best Chinese in Holmes Chapel.

Extremely bad service and attitude. Will not recommend to anyone or come again. Long waiting time and missing orders.

Very disappointed. Phoned through with an order after asking questions about their coronavirus precautions. Told only one person allowed in shop at a time. Judged that to be safe. Arrived to observe 3 people in shop 2 not wearing face coverings. After they left asked young guy behind counter why that was the case after I had specifically asked about their risk assessment and notices on door saying masks must be worn. His response was “because they placed a big order’. So I asked him if placing a big order at a Chinese takeaway gave one immunity from spreading Covid19. Ever seen a rabbit in headlights? So asked to speak to manager. Response pretty much the same. Can’t turn away big order. Fair enough but why purport to adhering to safety measures when you are clearly not. It’s unfair to those of us that try and perform risk assessments before we give our custom to local business.

Always drive to here from Plumley for our Chinese never been disappointed we always enjoy whatever we have wish they delivered 😊

We were in town so decided to try this for a takeaway. The food was prepared relatively quickly, maybe around 10 mins. However, the salt & pepper ribs were the most unusual I've ever had and were OK at best. My main course was steak with chilli and garlic (or something similar) and again, it was OK but not good.Based on this experience, I wouldn't go back.

We have eaten from this take away for many years and never had an issue. Our £44 Chinese takeaway this evening was horrendous. Prawn toast dry and tasteless Rice dry and tasteless Sweet and sour prawns inedible as they were surrounded in a sloppy ball of uncooked mush and sickly sweet. Shredded beef clearly not freshly cooked soggy and chewy and overly chillied Chips soggy Lemon chicken passable Crispy duck passable Sadly we won’t be coming back to this place based on this experience. £44 wasted. Such a shame

Firstly the staff of really pleasant, my the rice was not too bad, the meal okay but the chips where mostly over cooked and dry, and reminded me of a well knowen frozen chip brand. Will I return, I might give them a second chance.

After a day toiling in the garden and dripping wet from the shower my husband and I decided to phone Sun Kong as we fancied a Chinese. The menu (new) on the website was illegible but I picked our favourites and hoped they had them, which they had. I asked for delivery and please would they put in a new menu as I couldn't read it on line - no problem! I gave my order and was told 20 minutes. 45 minutes later I rang and explained to the man who answered. He said it was ready to collect. When I said I'd asked for delivery I heard him say, 'some woman has rung about an order' . He told me there was no-one to deliver so I told him to forget it.Never mind Zest has obliged and we shall eat Indian again. So very disappointed.

We used to love this takeaway but seems that recently its not great. Went with my dad and we weren't impressed with anything we bought apart from the salt and spice King prawns, which were tasty. Everything else was pretty bland. Chicken satay skewers very underwhelming as there was hardly any chicken on each skewer as shown in picture and the chicken was quite dry.I don't think it's down to skill as we've had great takeaway in the past, I think it's down to time - I wouldn't mind waiting an extra 30 mins for good food!

Love this takeaway, we have one on a regular basis and are always pleased with the good and service. Sometimes ( but not that often) you may have to wait a while especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Prices are very good.

What’s happened!!!!Our last few visits have been...awful, I think this was the last time we will be calling.Crispy Duck - not crispy and was like rubber, inedible, could not be shredded and ended up in the bin.Prawns on toast - dry and tasteless, thrownShredded chicken - appalling, chewy, over cooked and reheated. Shu mai - tasteless frozen, 2 eaten, 2 binnedSeaweed - not crispy and tasteless, thrown.Chicken wings - thumbs up, ok.Sorry to end our long standing relationship but your food standards have dropped dramatically over the last 12 months. I’m sure if you continue to serve food in this manner you will lose more customers other than ourselves.

We used to go here often, however the quality is nowhere near as good as it was. I think it started when the chip shop element closed. The food is not as tasty so we now go elsewhere. I think it is cheaper than other places - but you pay for what you get.

Use once every couple of weeks - always well cooked and a good standard of food - always over order and always have too much. Combine with The Bottle Bank 50 yards down the road - order - drink - collect - whats not to like?

While visiting friends in the area went here for takeaways. Terrible night cramps and more all night long! It was the whole party that suffered. Still not eaten anything today. A touch of food poising I think? Awful!

Very nice local Chinese takeaway. Scratch made Chinese food which is probably why its one of the better Chinese takeaways I have had, and why a lot of people I know come from surrounding towns for it.

Just moved into the area and thought we would try a family takeaway. Wish I hadn't. The crispy shredded chilli beef was clearly cooked and then refrozen, until I wanted it. My son had chicken sweet and sour and his was exactly the same. I don't like giving bad reviews but I think they need to understand that in today's market place, you can only give good service and food. A real shame but try somewhere else!

Had a takeaway from this place a number of times and the BBQ Spare Ribs are usually pretty good; tonight they were just average and tasted 'old'. The Special Fried Rice was very greasy and the Chicken in Green Pepper and Black Bean sauce was bland. I know this place can do better. Something has changed, may be a new Chef?

We have used this takeaway once and were really surprised to see all the positive reviews. The food we had was appalling and tasted like the sort of boil in the bag rubbish one would find in a cash and carry 20 years ago. Everything tasted synthetic and I really can't believe that it was prepared from fresh on the premises. This was the first take away I can remember throwing away half eaten. We are relatively new to the area and now travel 20 minutes or so to Knutsford if we want an Eastern take away.On the positive side the staff were lovely, the place is local and the price was ok but the food is the important thing and I'd still rather travel and pay more for a decent takeway.

We have been using this takeaway for as long as we have lived in the village some 29 years. Fantastic food. Always the same high standard. Our kids have moved away and say it is still the best food they have ever had.

Always great food although get your order in in plenty of time. Weekends are very busy and if you don't order well in advance there will be a long wait. Delivery slots are a challenge as they are so busy.

This take away has continuously provided excellent food, well flavoured and piping hot. The Special Curry and Special Sweet and Sour are superb. The starters are also excellent, the spring rolls are crisp and juicy along with the prawn toast, which has some of the best flavour I have tasted for a long time. Service is excellent and clear on the phone!

We have been to Sun Kong a few times, the food has always been excellent, the staff are very helpful,The special curry is always spicy. The portions sizes are very good and they have also got our food out within 20 mins.

The food was good quality and very tasty. Some of the dishes were quite similar but they were nice. We ordered a couple of meals with other side dishes and it came to around £20 and came with complimentary prawn crackers!

Creature of habit, always a chicken curry with extra mushrooms, my wife loves the special fried rice. Staff are very friendly.

We order food to be delivered but upon receiving we discovered that an item was missing. Regretfully the delivery driver had left (when I look to try and stop him) so I called up to explain the situation. The initial girl I spoke to was very apologetic but advised that they were very busy tonight and could not re-deliver the missing item (that they confirmed, from the order, was missing). I explained that this wasn't good enough and asked to speak to the manager. The second lady ('m not sure if a manager or not?) simply repeated what the first had told me and said I could collect a refund the next time I was in. I again explained that this still wasn't good enough, and it had now ruined a special family event. My compromise was for the delivery driver, once he'd delivered all the food for the night, to simply drop off a refund through my letterbox (even if after midnight). This was still refused and I was told I'd have to go in to get. The final straw was when I heard the second lady move the handset away from her face and ask a colleague 'can I just put the phone down on him', which she then did! Obviously, the first thing I then did was call back, when I was now in even more of a bad mood - what did they expect me to do?!?Seriously, the food is good, but when you make a mistake you should correct it. The customer shouldn't have to 'fix' it for you.Will I go again?, most probably yes, but I won't leave the shop or allow the driver to leave until I've fully checked the order.VERY disappointed with the situation.

Love egg fried rice,. Seaweed isn't too dry and crispy like in most places. Great service. Food nice and hot.

I am always sceptical of Chinese restaurants or takeaways that offers non-chinese food such as Omelettes, Sausages, Thai fish cakes, Thai noodles and Thai curries. Always gives me the impression of being a 'Jack of all trades but Master of none' as proved in the dishes which I ordered.I have travelled to many places all over the world and I love Chinese food. I have eaten at some of the best Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong and China, and Chinatowns in London and Manchester. Despite some over-generous reviews on here, the food is distinctly ordinary and is obviously geared towards the locals. I ordered a few starters and a few main courses. Had the wonton soup, siu mai, seaweed, and prawns on toast as starters. All you could taste was fat and MSG. The seaweed made me so thirsty all night.We ordered beef chow mein, chicken in garlic and wine sauce, king prawn foo yung and special fried rice as the mains.The beef chow mein was mainly vegetables and didn't have many pieces of beef . The noodles were hard and the beef was grisly and chewy. The chicken in garlic and wine sauce tasted very vinegary and I couldn't taste any wine at all. The king prawn foo yung was raw in the middle and full of yellow colouring which stained the bottom of the container and made my friend's little boy ill. The special fried rice was ok, but very greasy !Overall, quality is disappointing and there are better chinese food, elsewhere !

Of course you will get better and more authentic food in China. Of course the offerings here have been tailored for the British palette, much like Indian food in the UK does not generally reflect home cooked Indian food. The same can be said for Thai, or Italian or most other countries cuisine.What the Sun Kong does well is a very good takeaway food at a reasonable price. It is great for the price and location. I have not been disappointed by any of the meals I've had from there and quite often get the very generous set meals when we have friends round and want a break from cooking.

Fairly standard Chinese takeaway but the food is good, prices are fair. Salt and spice chicken wings excellent as are salt and spice chips. Shame they don't do bean curd dishes though.

Why is it that we have to put up with faux Chinese cooking at these truly dreadful places in England? Go to China, and the food is simply wonderful; this is such a pale imitation of the real thing.

Food quality excellent. The ribs are some of the best from a takeout and very generous portion. Special fried rice is another huge portion which was enough for family of four. All of our dishes were flavoursome, hot and as ordered. Complimentary prawn crackers a nice touch too.

Simple place great food always cooked fresh may have to go across the road to Red Lion where it will take 10/15 mins to get a drink and then your Chinese will be ready even Friday /Staurday

I've been using the Sun Kong for just short of 20 years, so it's about time I commented that they always provide an efficient service and prepare very good food at a decent price. The best Chinese food in Holmes Chapel - even before the other one closed for business.

We have been having takeaways from the Sun Kong for the past 10 years or so and the food has almost always been of good quality with a varied choice. Not at the highest end of the haute cuisine spectrum, but pretty good none the less.

Very good food, reasonable pricing, friendly staff. Everything you need from a takeaway, there's an extensive menu, they take orders over the phone so you don't have to wait and they'll deliver locally.

The food was excellent value and generally very nice, it was just a shame that the rice was dry and sticky.

Tasty take away food with an extensive menu choice. They always let you know how long the wait is, and never fail to deliver good hot mealsPrices have gone up quite a bit in the last couple of years, and the chips aren't as good as they used to be! (since they stopped doing English meals). But on the whole they still offer great value for money

I love this place.. you have to appreciate the lady on reception is quite business like in her manner - but she runs a tight ship! I just love it there - we always order by phone to avoid sitting and waiting and they will tell you how long to save any delays. Reasonably priced food and nice sized portions.
