Sun Inn Public House & Restaurant in Thanet

After learning our favorite pub The Bell inn had closed we were truly delighted tonight to try Sun Inn just across. It has same chef as The Bell and same fabulous food as ever and service. Really enjoyed our evening and great service from Simon. Thanks for looking after us. Defo will be back.

This place has a chequered past the people over the road who ran both pubs, dropped one due to issues and took this, the ale are just as bad. No atmosphere during my visit place was not quite empty but close. Will return for the food. It is a pub not this gastro thing.

We stopped for lunch en route to the coast. We were given a warm welcome and the baguettes we ordered were delicious and generously filled with good quality ingredients. Good, wholesome traditional pub food.

The lovely crew from the Bell Inn have moved over the road to The Sun Inn. The food is varied and absolutely delicious. Hearty portions followed by clean plates tell the tail of a great nosh. Two vegetarians in our party had grilled halloumi beetroot and walnut salad, and leek and mushroom crumble. Both delicious. Steak and ale pie for the meat eaters perfection. Good wine and beer choices and super friendly service topped a great lunchtime visit to St Nicholas. The church is worth a viewing as well. Unequivocally recommended .

Lovely Village pub with delicious food 😋highly recommend the smoked haddock stew. Could do with a bit of TLC but landlords just moved in. Very lovely friendly staff too.

Nice pub with cold crisp beer. Didn't have the food but the menu looks nice. Lovely beer garden for the dogs to enjoy.

The food is pretty bad - like home cooking by someone who's still learning to cook. Service is good and the building itself is lovely. Worth dropping in for a drink.

Lovely and homely, open fire which was needed today, friendly staff and the pork and chicken Sunday roast was OMG fabulous 👌.

Atmosphere a bit prickly to start but soon warmed up! Food was really good?

Good local pub with great staff and decent live music

Superb breakfast served this Saturday morning, if you can get a better fry up for the price I will be surprised .A1.

We visited for a mother's day meal, one of our party has special dietary requirements, which was discussed when the booking was made. There was an issue with this on arrival, however the chef came and spoke to our family member with the dietary requirements. The chef kindly rectified the issue and even gave us this meal on the house. The roast was very nice and the apple crumble was without a doubt the best I've ever tasted.

Very good food despite rather a long wait for our lunch.

What a luxury to have two brilliant pubs in one village. Would have loved to have eaten at The Bell because it has such a great reputation but wasn’t sure about opening hours from the website, so opted for drinks at The Sun Inn right opposite and what a lovely experience. The land lady, team and locals really couldn’t have been more welcoming. It was during the two record-breakingly hot July days and I was in a Campervan down the road and the landlady even said to come by if I needed anything. Wonderful hospitality (& great Guinness). I will definitely come back and eat at the Bell but can 100% recommend both pubs. Oh, very dog friendly too (very important). Thank you guys very sincerely 🐶🥰

Visited for a friend's birthday party, lovely venue with good music, range of drinks and fabulous staff!

Stopped off for a bite to eat. Had the mist amazing burger there. Definitely going back.

Having eaten here before & it being fully booked at the the Bell I came away very disappointed, having to send my food back as the roast potatoes where Rock hard & cold, starters menu was very very poor, my husband had the chicken & ham pie with cheese mash, which turned up with meat soaked in a gravy no pastry with sliced potatoes on top with cheese chucked in it!!! Nothing like The Bell, no where near it. The food at the Bell pub food is always great in there, so I was so disappointed today especially it being Mother’s Day!!! Nothing special Abt it at all ruined my day quite honestly … Sorry for the bad review but I feel I had to let u know … if it was my pub I would want to know

Massive sunday roast dinner, love the crackling, the stuffing and parsnips. We were very lucky to get a table. My girlfriend actually said the roast potatoes were "very good" .. from her thats incredible as she says hers are the best! Very good service as well. Well recommended.

A really friendly pub, the food was superb and I played a few games of pool too.

Good selection of family sharing food

Newly opened and beautifully refurbished with a lit garden, pond and easy access. The Sun now complements The Bell opposite as it serves a different menu but is owned by the same local couple. A tremendous addition to the village.

Although about to have a change of licensee, the welcome a friend and I received was first class. The pub was not busy so social distancing wasn't an issue. We hope the new publican brings with him or her the same friendly attitude.

Brilliant roast for a brilliant price.

Traditional pub, lively on boxing day and seem to very much enjoy their Christmas decorations. Pool table, music and a nice selection of beers. Friendly staff.

Very good food very good atmosphere

Regularly visit this pub on the way through. We have eaten here a few times as well as stopped for drinks. Always very friendly, chatty and a lovely atmosphere, lovely owners and locals.

Makes the best ham egg and chips

We visit only rarely but rate this pub excellent in every way .we are always made welcome and the owners -staff are delightful . . we have not eaten here but aalways see people enjoying wat they have so we will eventually try it. .overall rating not to be missed

First time but not the last, food and hospitality was excellent.

Nice village pub.. Outside tables if the weather is good. Foods alright.. Price is alright. Few parking spaces outside if your lucky. They do a Sunday roast for about nine quid. Been there a few times so can't be bad. 👍🏼

Very lovely pub. Couldn't ask for more friendly owners. Lovely couple. All food is freshly home made. Been here a few times whilst camping just 200yds away. Very down to earth & friendly. By the way....there is a pub opposite. Very clicky & snobby. Why bother even crossing the road when you have a really friendly pub already.

We drove past this place yesterday and thought it was definitely worth a Sunday visit. Not disappointed. A real traditional pub with a few echos of a village pub. 3/4 picked the roast and it was super tasty. Big portions (although lacking in a wider variety of vegetables). Dad went for the fish and chips which was bigger than his arm. All in all, a lovely Sunday lunch.
