Summer House in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I love unpretentious but good food, in a great environment, served by people who clearly care about your experience. Summerhouse ticks all boxes. Been four times now and the magic is not waning!

Had a delicious hot Sunday roast of generous proportions, several vegetable dishes and extra gravy... too full to have dessert!

Me and my husband had the Sunday roast ! The food was absolutely outstanding and definitely worth the money ! With the beautiful view Very highly recommended

Great location, good food and nice friendly staff. However we were all really cold (doors left wide open all evening), and incredibly expensive drinks (£7.10 for a pint of ale, with service charge).

Imagine walking into a restaurant that pro actively advertises itself as accommodating for intolerances, to then have the waitress think that egg is dairy. I’m GF/DF due to an allergy and drove 45 minutes to this restaurant on my birthday for a lunch as the menu has clear allergens and offers alternatives. I asked what the alternative was with the humous as it was advertised as GFA on the menu, I got told there wasn’t one. I then asked if the tater tots could be dairy free, too which I was told the aioli wasn’t dairy free so I could have it without sauce or with ketchup or bbq instead. I asked if it was possible to get the humous with fries instead and the waitress said probably not but she would ask the chef. When I ordered the burger for my main, I was told I couldn’t have the burger sauce as it wasn’t dairy free. I asked for mayonnaise instead and this wasn’t dairy free either? I asked what ingredient it had in it that made it not dairy free and she said egg. I explained that egg wasn’t dairy so that wasn’t an issue. She then came to say that the chef said I couldn’t have mayonnaise because it had mustard flour in it. I asked why I couldn’t have mustard flour and she said because that’s gluten. Having explained and showed them on Google that mustard flour obviously is gluten free, I was allowed some mayonnaise. My burger came out with 2 smashed patties and a bun. Absolutely no salad, seasoning, or anything. I didn’t take a picture of the food as quite frankly it was awful. I left the dry, overcooked burger and whilst they removed this from our bill, we still walked out with a £45 bill for a cocktail, pint, taco, fries and humous. The manager showed understanding and agreed that her staff needed further allergy training but unfortunately that doesn’t change how awful the experience made us feel. A rubbish birthday lunch and I really recommend not going if you have any dietary requirements. Enjoy the photo of my overpriced cocktail.

Really good meal and amazing location. Visited as a party of 5 in October and despite a nearly empty restaurant (only 2 other couples), and 3 front of house staff, it took a long time for food to come. But it was worth the wait!

Ate here while on holiday in Perranporth. Food matched the fabulous views and the staff were lovely too. All food and drinks are locally sourced, which is also a nice touch. Dog friendly inside and out.

Perfectly placed looking over Perranporth beach, this is a great place for dinner, lunch, or just a drink taking in the view. We had a few light bites for lunch and can say the portions were very generous and of great quality. Service was also right on point, a great place to eat out

Great cocktails and a lovely view of the beach. The food is significantly improved compared to the last time I went when it was limited to a burger menu. The calamari is absolutely incredible and the portions of the small plates are very generous! Service was quick and the staff friendly plus it's dog friendly

We visited Perranporth as a part of our holiday visit. We had lunch at the Summerhouse to enjoy the views over the beach. The staff were very attentive. We were given a bottle of water for the table. The food was sublime, and we will definitely visit again. It was explained to us that a service charge was added, and we could have it taken off if we so wished. However, the service was outstanding, and we agreed to leave it on.

Had the most lovely meal on Friday. Food was delicious, scallops cooked to perfection, Gucci fries amazing and the setting sun view stunning!! But most notable was the cheerful, smiley and professional service given by the staff, they were wonderful in very busy circumstances. Highly recommend the Summer House!

Lovely place over looking the beautiful beach. Good choices on the menu. We all enjoyed what we ordered to eat. Catered for gluten-free. Nice service from the staff. Dog friendly, too.

I have heard from a local that this place can be hit or miss, depending on the chef. I guess we didn't get a good chef because the food was not great, and definitely not worth the price. My fish tacos were 75% breading and 25% fish. I was astonished at how little fish there actually was in the tacos after pulling apart the breading. My husband got the smash burger and said it smelled and tasted a bit off. He described it as an old meat smell. Neither one of us finished our food. The only saving grace was the Gucci fries but that isn't enough for us to return. The location of this place is one of the best, but that means nothing if the food doesn't match.

This place is lovely, so much so we returned for dinner the following night. The smash burgers served with a side of gucci fries are definitely a firm favourite. The amazing service and view are worth going for without the tasty food. Highly recommend

Absolutely loved our visit to The Summer house. On a drizzly day at the end of the summer the service could not have been better. Welcomed our large group and moved tables to accommodate us. We had a selection of small plates with each one tasting amazing. They just do it well. Food, location, ambiance, style and most importantly the customer service. We will most definitely be back.

Stopped for drinks after a day on the beach then returned for food the next day, which was delicious. Smash burger was super juicy and well flavoured, fish of the day (Hake) was delicate and fresh served will well matched veg and salad, we also ordered 3 sides which on reflection was too much but all looked so good and we got carried away! Friendly service team, relaxed atmosphere and fantastic sea views too. Will definitely be back.

Great location, staff were excellent. Unfortunatly the food didn't match, sent fish of the day back as cold and under cooked, was replaced with the same. Changed for the burger which was also undercooked and underseasoned . Won't be returning.

Popped in for a pint & light lunch. We had the ‘you do you’ draught lager which was really nice. We ordered the Cornish meze which was excellent. Staff are great & attentive, great location & reasonable prices. Wish I’d ordered the mussel dish as an extra, saw somebody have it & it looked great……one for next time! Highly recommended

We visited this bar/restaurant on the first night of our holiday for a drink. We sat outside but it started to drizzle so the staff kindly found us a seat inside. One of the staff bought our dog over a bowl of water. They were so welcoming and the food looked good so we decided to go back the following night to eat. This time it was a beautiful evening and we were able to sit outside. The fish tacos were amazing as were the rest of the family’s burgers. The menu is limited but the food is well presented and super tasty.

First time visiting Perranaporth and Summer House. We was HIGHLY impressed with the amazing food, the great service and lovely atmosphere!

It is really great here… menu was easy to understand and there was good choice for those who wanted meat and veggie options. The food was excellent and very well presented. The service was excellent and Talana and the team were very attentive to our needs and even laughed at my bad dad jokes! The bill was bought quickly and payment was quick and easy too. Great job team!

Great food, dog friendly. The day I visited the staff seemed a little busy, but we were seated and served realitively quickly. Gucci frys were great as was the calamari.

Lovely evening meal. Price teaks asked for medium rare were definitely medium + although tasty. Lovely interior and perimter raised deck. Lovely place at sunset too.

Came down for dinner with our dog , met with a smiling face. Dog bowl with water was brought out straight away. We asked for a meat option for the dog which they accommodated without hesitation (he was chuffed). The food was outstanding the starters of burrata and jerk chicken were beautiful, the steaks were of high quality and the fish of the day plus the mussels were also incredible. Emma who served us was excellent couldn’t ask for better service, so attentive and friendly.. just lovely!! All and all thanks to Emma and the rest of the friendly staff, fantastic chefs and bar staff (lovely margaritas) a wonderful evening!! Thank you!

Warmly welcomed for lunch by a lovely team. They offered our dogs water to drink and promptly brought out a delicious lunch of moules and frites. The quality was excellent and the ambiance was perfect for enjoying seafood by the sea! Would highly recommend.

If you want a locally sourced burger that is very bland and expensive then this is the place. Gucci fries were okay but personally I think they are over priced. The size portion between adults and children’s smash burgers wasnt much different except in price. I just feel that for the price and what they promote the food should have had a lot more WOW. I wouldn’t be going to this female led restaurant again. On the upside the views were fantastic and our waitress was lovely and helpful.

Absolute gem of a place with a very simple menu. Food was fantastic and we came here on the recommendation of my wife's co workers who mentioned "Gucci Fries".... These were lush. Big plate of fries covered with Davidstow cheddar, burger sauce, pickles and a generous amount of truffle dust.

Would love to give this place a 5 star! Waitress was lovely and friendly! Very limited menu. Shame the two lads were watching the football behind the bar and not sharing the score. I have taken into consideration that they use locally sourced produce food. We all had a beef smash burger. No greenery, onions or any little extras for the cost of the burger. Gucci fries were lovely definitely a sharing portion. Views were amazing from the restaurant. I personally wouldn’t go back but if you’re looking to go out for sea views this is the place. The most beautiful setting! I had the Burria Tacos and Cornish taters all were delicious. Staff were lovely and friendly!

A little expensive but the quality of the food & drink was great, but the view of perranporth is what makes it worth it. The young lady who served us was lovely too.

Very disappointing visit; after a looong drive down to the coast. We’d stumbled across The Summerhouse and wanted to stop for a drink. We waited at the rope to be let in to the bar area and when we were let in, we explained we just wanted some drinks….we were still shown to a table for 4 (which was fine of course). We then waited 15 minutes and assumed we needed to go to the bar to order, as we’d been left to our own devices! When we got to the bar, they said they’d come to us. We then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes and decided to leave without even a drop of water! If you want to experience a lovely view, give it a go. If you want good service, AVOID!!

Very modern vibe! Would I like it? Yes fantastic. Very warm welcome 🙏 Nice window seat with great views. And the food? Well I had the fish tacos 🌮 magnificent, the fish was really fresh and cooked very delicately, great flavours from the garnish.

Food was a bit bland, was very expensive for the quality then there is a hidden service charge on top. The sort place that looks good on Instagram but in reality it's a bit naff, if you don't like food but like sunsets I would recommend

Stopped by for Brunch today, attentive service, nice decor, friendly and welcoming vibe. Food was really good, had the Mezze, fries and salad, ideal for a light nibbly lunch. Will defo be back one evening to watch the sun go down on the terrace and sample some cocktails 🍸

Have visited several times and the food and cocktails are lovely. Has a great view of the sea if you sit outside. Dogs are allowed inside which is the reason for 4 stars rather than 5 due to a dog throwing up next to us (which is not anyone’s fault just put us off our food a bit!) Good vegetarian options, just wish there were more. Asked about gluten free, and it’s been fairly inconsistent with what food on the menu is gluten free or not (changed in between visits but the menu hadn’t changed). Definitely worth a visit just for a cocktail outside while the sun sets!

We found this place whilst on holiday its a beautiful place with amazing customer service and fantastic food, I highly recommend for you to visit this place. It also has a beautiful view of the sea and I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in the summer!! We will definitely come back x

Location stunning met by friendly member if staff and shown to a table. Took 20 minutes to bring 4 drinks! 3 coffee's were all luke warm, tea was OK. No tea spoons so had to use fingers to add sugar lumps! I'm all for empowering women but the sexist painted message on the wall is in bad taste. Will not be returning

Beautiful views across Perranporth Beach. Gluten free options available. Good service, we had a slight issue which was immediately rectified and refunded :) Dog friendly too both inside & out.

For £16 one expects a good roast dinner, but alas that wasn’t the case. Served stringy roast beef with a Yorkshire and a small amount of gravy a good time before the veg came out. The result was a cold meal. Asked for more gravy and was told all gravy is vegetarian? Portions kept us hungry and the service was slow having booked in. Drinks expensive. Staff refused to bring us more vegetables. So best keep looking if you want a cracking Sunday roast I’m afraid.

BEST SUNDAY LUNCH IN CORNWALL ! I have been living in Cornwall for the past 10 years and dined in many restaurants but this is the first time I have been to the Summer House. My grandson had a birthday party to attend in the area so the family decided to book here for Sunday lunch. The staff were welcoming, polite and lovely and could honestly not do enough for us . The Summer House itself had such a cool non pro tensions vibe, and my 2 grandchildren and my dog relaxed happily whilst myself and my daughter chilled with a very reasonably priced bottle of Prosecco. The Sunday lunch we could not fault, with ample generous portions of beautifully cooked veg ( nothing worse then dining out as a family and fighting over who’s taken too much of the shared vegetables is there ? ) ! I simply cannot fault this place, the food, or the staff - everything was just perfect. The best Sunday Lunch I have had in the last 10 years and we dine out as a family often … Well done and thank you - we will be back 😊❤️

We had a great meal here. We had planned to go to the Watering Hole but this place looked more up our street. Was less busy and more of a chilled out vibe. We had the pulled pork burger and I had two aperol spritz for £15. The service was great and they were so attentive. We also had the chocolate brownie to share and it was warm. A lovely end to a lovely day (we had been to port Issac and were on our way down to Hayle)

Absolutely fantastic Sunday Lunch with my Mum. We didn’t realise they did Sunday lunches and were pleasantly surprised when we saw they did. Beautifully cooked, great selection and delicious vegetables. Good generous portions too. The view is spectacular too! Highly recommended and we will be back!

Nice tidy venue, stunning location. My partner ordered a burger for about £15 it was totally ghastly and consisted of two dry thin non flavoursome burgers, a slab of cheese in a bun… the mussels were nice, the satay chicken was dry as a flip flop and came in a very odd sauce which none of us liked, shan’t be chancing our luck there again in a hurry… no discount offered for the half eaten burger, upon making the staff member aware his response what’s that’s what he hears all the time…!! Birthday meal disaster 🤦🏽‍♀️

Full… of disappointment. Our second visit to the Summer House and we were looking forward to revisiting. On arrival we were told they were full, but were sat down in 15 minutes, and that’s where the service stopped. Items were missed off our order, it was over an hour wait for food, no member of the team came to check on our table throughout and instead avoided us. Apart from the man serving us the team were unhelpful and unapologetic. 3 other tables came and went by the time we’d received our cold and over seasoned dinners and not once was there an apology, even when we had expressed our disappointment. Terrible service, which would have been made better if someone had just acknowledged the issues.

Terrible service, they clearly couldn't give a **** to serve us correctly even though there were empty tables the lady greeting us looked us up and down before making an effort to turn her head to look for somewhere to sit. This almost seemed like a huge effort for her. The table wasn't laid and it was dirty. Food came eventually after 30 mins and not really as described in the menu, my 'pulled pork burger' no burger's here.. it was just some barely warm pulled pork in a bread cake with 1 piece of lettuce. Maybe this is me splitting hairs but everywhere else that ive ordered a pulled pork burger then you get pulled pork on a burger. Chips has no signs of sea salt or rosemary as advertised and the waitress couldn't be arsed to get us some salt, 'It's not my fault' she stated 'all the condiments are being used!' and walked off in a huff , returning 10mins later slamming down the salt on the table. Throughout nobody asked if our meals were OK!. Overall very disappointing food and a limited menu. Toilets were disgusting and paper towels everywhere. Great view but we won't return.

Great spot overlooking the beach, relaxed vibe, great service and well priced. We had the fish tacos which were delicious with some Gucci fries to share. Both lovely although the burger sauce on the fries was a little much for us. Definitely recommend for lunch or evening meal.

We visited for our family's final meal, and it is not a family place, book this for groups or couples. Menu is over fancy with the kids menu over complicated for a start. the main was ok. there was a lot of staff all walking around with only a few of them actually doing anything. We counted 7 on floor and 2 on the bar, and to be honest in an efficient restaurant in London you can get away with 1 bar and 2 or 3 good staff on the floor. The staff were very young and you could tell the inexperience by thier lack of menu knowledge. They were friendly but i might as well have been using an app to order. The food was ok, my wife and daughter had the cod, and i had the steak. my son had the kids sausage and chips. My dauggter and i ordered extra chips as it was not clear the main menu selection had sufficient potatoe or veg and the waitress didnt know to advise. the steak was well cooked and it was very nice although very pricey at £32 for wht it came with and the size. my wife nd daughter had the cod and they were happy. to our amazement it came with a pot of mash so extra chips was overkill and not needed.

Amazing food, first class service and a fabulous setting. The Buddha Bowl was to die for and both my kids gave the burgers 10/10!

Great views and great food, the calamari was amazing!

Such a shame as it promised so much and delivered so little. The view is incredible but it really ends there. Kids quesadilla (£8) was 2 slices of processed cheese wrapped in tortilla with frozen fries, complete rip off. The calamari was most certainly a bought in frozen product, likely from Brakes, whitebait the same, you have most definitely had them in every macro chain pub in the country. Chorizo was undercooked and served with crostini (which was actually stale bread). They are obviously rocking some monster GP margins on the food which will help pay the unnecessarily large team on duty who provided efficient but miserable service. 4/5 cocktails unavailable and 1/3 draught products unavailable. The saviour was the oysters which were fresh and tasty, as well as the lovely view. We were surprised at how quiet it was, now we know why. £75 down.

Gorgeous view! Absolutely stunning, capturing an amazing sunset. Would be great to sit and have drinks and just take it in. Speaking of which, they offer wine on draft, as well as some nice local ciders and beers, plus a whole load of cocktails and softs and others good stuff (baileys hot chocolate for the colder evenings yes please!) The food looks pretty and all round tasted rather good too. Some dishes hit the spot right on, the Buddha bowl, whitebait and fish tacos were all top notch. A few things like the gucci fries and the satay chicken were all pretty good, though the sauces for both just a tad too salty in my opinion. The service was decent, everyone being nice and chatty, but maybe a little slow, and didn’t finish clearing the plates before bringing out dessert which was a little unusual. Overall I would recommend this spot for the view and the vibes, with decent food that does the job and makes for a great evening in perranporth - being so close to the beach is great fun too

Spotted the restaurant on the hill thought to check it out. Sat and looked out across the beach with a frozen Pina Colada. Then ordered a range of seafood: Fried Calamari, Scallops & Mussels. The scallops wrre cooked well however the grainy texture of the breadcrumb was a little disappointing. The mussels were great with a rich sauce. Pricey lunch however great for a special occasion.

A nice meal enjoyed by all, all the girls working there are great. Slightly cold due to wet weather outside and the main large doors being left open. Nicest looking/welcoming restaurant in Perranporth Definitely recommend the frozen marg!

Enjoyed the fish tacos. Our dog was welcomed and also able to take him on the beach at Perranporth which was a bonus! One of our party needed gluten free and we found the choices a bit limited and access for elderly/ disabled is up...

Superb, fresh and plentiful local food and drink served in the most wonderful of settings. You can’t book so get there early and enjoy the best meal and view in Perranporth. Be sure to go hungry as the portions are generous

The worst food I ever see it , horrible services , we was waiting 30min for some beers and they forgot the order , staff very unprofessional and look like kid's, not recommended at all !

Small menu but pleasantly surprised by the food they did off. Big portions and plenty of flavour no matter what we went for. Truffle loaded fries, garlic bread, fish tacos and chicken satay all to die for. Then add in the great view and excellent...

2 choices. Burger or pulled pork burger, or seafood. I said clearly no ice in the coke both came with ice, was ok meal but no choice of food. Would not go again

Beach View at the edge. Great location. The seats are comfortable. Dogs friendly. Outside and inside area. A dj was playing on a Friday night. Steps up to the restaurant. Slightly disorganised service with us being offered other people's food 3 times. The toilets were quite dirty too. Ordered the burger and it literally came on the plate on its own, without any garnish. Be aware chips are extra. It does get very busy. Nice atmosphere. Food came out on time, and the desserts were very nice !!!!

We stumbled upon this when driving through Perranporth at night. Gorgeous little place and the views are spectacular! We ordered the fish tacos and a burger. Both were absolutely stunning and we’ve recommended so many of of friends to come here when holidaying in Cornwall!

Visited yesterday lunch time and we had 6 dishes,4 small plates/starters & 2 mains. All dishes were brought at the same time,so instead of chilling and enjoying the food,we had to rush the starters as the mains would get cold. The biggest letdown was the large mussels we had opted for. It was a very good size portion BUT over half the mussels were not edible due to them being completely closed. I mentioned it to our server,who just shrugged her shoulders and walked away. It’s a lovely setting,but the food left a lot to be desired.We’ve eaten better each of our 6 days so far in Newquay and truro

Most beautiful location, but more importantly lovely staff, food was perfect very tasty and very reasonably priced. Clean and tidy and the view says it all, would recommend to anyone visiting perranporth

Everything at the Summerhouse was great! From the food, delicious and articulate, to the people working there that waited us impeccably! The restaurant has also a stunning view on Perranporth beach!

I have nothing but great things to say about the Summer House! We are a party of 6 adults, 1 child and 1 dog and staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, moving tables to ensure we had space to dine in. The food is faultless, the staff so friendly and helpful, with genuinely great cocktails and coffee and the views of Perranporth are gorgeous. We ate here twice within the first 3 days and will no doubt return before the holiday is up! Can’t recommend enough <3
