This is a really good place for a treat. It has so many diffrent options to choose from. But the wait is a little to long.

Paid for an event which was brilliant. The cost also included one milkshake and two small pancakes at the establishment. My son has special needs and didn’t like the texture of the milkshake. I politely asked if I could change it for a pancake, and explained that it was because of the texture and that my son was autistic. I was made to feel like I was trying to something extra without paying! The older lady whom I presume was the manager at first looked at my blankly like she was shocked at what I was asking and then abruptly said ‘well no coz you’ve paid for pancakes and milkshake’ to the which I said I know & I repeated the reason why I was asking and that my son was autistic. Then I said on well have you got a bin then and placed the full up milkshake on the counter and she said rudely said ‘yea’! I’m actually quite upset and annoyed that in this day and age people can still be so narrow minded and make a parent feel as I was made to feel today. Safe to say it’s NOT an establishment that is autism friendly. However it is dog friendly, they will let a dog bark repeatedly even if it scares the children and makes them feel uncomfortable and cover their ears with their hands! Without anything being said.

A great ice cream cafe on the seafront! It’s hard to find somewhere like this on Canvey, but this is an assured trip whenever we come down for the arcades. The sundaes are amazing, and the new ice cream trays are top notch. I gave atmosphere a 3 because the indoor seating area has now been connected to the arcade (which means it is now very loud and not as enjoyable as it used to be)

So took 2 youngsters one who cannot have dairy to canvey seafront. Was hoping they had vegan options and must say they exceeded all expectations. Like the fact there are a few arcade games in the actual ice cream place now as when we used to frequent when my child was younger you couldn’t really relax as they always wanted to rush off to arcade. I thought after looking on Facebook seeing the bad review I would go in and have a try. Can I just say the staff are so lovely and was so patient with my kids the waffle we had was a banoffee waffle and chocoholic ice cream Omg the milkshakes don’t get me started on them Just pure heaven so fresh place is nice and clean and tidy obviously can’t use the toilet as for staff only but they was nice enough to let my little girl use it thank you

Took 3 of our grandchildren hoping it would be a positive experience. Nothing special about the waffles , they sell Cart D’or ice cream but don’t use that on the waffles , ice cream was cheap , small drizzle of syrup served on a paper plate with wooden cutlery and no serviettes . The photo will show what the 3 children thought by what they left on their paper plates . Absolutely do not recommend.

Small portions tasted stale staff was rude toilets was unhygienic dirty just wouldn’t recommend

Fast service, great prices and best milkshakes ever!

My daughter and her friend had a lovely time at Suagr Rays. They both chose the chocolate milkshake and they were gone within minutes so they must have been good. There are so many choices available and not only milkshakes but pancakes, waffles, sundaes … the list is endless. Staff were polite, service was quick and venue clean and tidy - what more could you want from a great value treat for the kids (and adults too 😜).

horrible experience. took 20 minutes, probably more, just to get food. ordered a bubble waffle but got a normal one. waffle was cold and hard. the seats and tables were dirty and very unsanitary.

We visited after school on Friday for a treat. The lady was lovely and welcoming. Our order consisted of a hot dog - which was delicious and two waffles. One with Nutella and banana - beautiful! And one with bubblegum ice cream and bubblegum millions to top it. The food was lovely. We didn’t feel rushed at all and it was really child friendly. We will certainly be back!

Rated low as there were 4members of staff behind the counter and for 10 mins none of them acknowledged our presence (even to say sorry someone will be with you in a bit). The drinks whilst scalding hot to drink were very basic tasting and the donuts were raw inside Tables and chairs looked as though they not been cleaned all week and some were still full of plates and mugs from when we walked in to when we left. Appalling state of hygiene and the missing ceiling panels following water leaks didn’t help to encourage that this is a good place to eat. In major need of tlc and staff management arrangements.

Fantastic, the bubble waffles are amazing!

The older lady behind the counter was extremely rude, her customer service was shocking! The two young ladies on the other hand were smiley, pleasant and friendly. As inside is restricted due to covid they provide outside seating which was unclean, the table had been clearly wiped over but the seats were all tacky and held together with duck tape around the arms and the backs were messed with bird poo.

never been here b4 but fancied a milkshake. First impressions looked nice but have to say on sitting down tables were sticky and grubby. The whole place needs a thorough deep clean. Staff are nice enough but need to observe social distahcing. Owner was talking in our face! Milkshakes not great. Very cheap biscuits used. Daughter said she has never tasted a milkshake like it and not in a good way. We all took our shakes outside because we were not happy at the hygiene. It really needs a good clean and staff should wear masks.

Staff are friendly, food is great would highly recommend, as not too expensive especially when taking the whole family

We only come here because it’s convenient and normally the only place open. The products used are cheap and taste as such. Service is always slow and the place is never very clean. The toilet is always out of service even for customers. The staff never seem interested in taking your order and seem to enjoy ignoring customers.

We enjoyed delicious refreshments at Sugar Rays on Canvey Island. We had hot mochas and mini donuts, and then came back for shakes. Sugar Rays offers shakes with mix-ins, my daughter loved the mint chocolate chip with Oreos. We found the servers to be hard working and polite. Even when we needed a cab (being from out of the area with our phone service not working), the Sugar Ray workers helped us out. Thank you so much!

Service has improved lately to an acceptable waiting time. Good quality milkshakes, pancakes and waffles. Will considet 4 stars once they start accepting card payments, the fact it's cash only is ridiculous and somewhat suspicious. I don't care if "there's a cash machine just over the street", I shouldn't have to and it just happens to be the most unreliable ATM on Canvey and frequently out of service.

Amazing food, we will definitely return for more delicious waffles. Coffee was good and good very fresh. 10/10 waffles! Excellent value for money. It’s a shame they only take cash but otherwise all positive.

I love the food there or should I say I love the milkshakes, waffles and pancakes there.

Absolutely love it here. Huge choice of shakes, pancakes and waffles. You pick from a wide choice of toppings, ice cream and topping to make your perfect sweet treat. Extremely good value for money. Great for everyday or special treats. Staff are always really friendly and are fab with the kids. Sometimes, due to its popularity and made to order food and drink, there may be a short wait, but there is an adjoining arcade and a tv showing family features within the Sugar Rays seating area. Definitely well worth a visit and so much cheaper and tastier than competition. You won't be disappointed.

Although it was very busy, the service was excellent and the prices were acceptable

I understand that it’s stressful when busy, but all it takes is some good customer service and a bit of acknowledgement such as eye contact, a smile or god forbid a ‘I’ll be with you in a moment’ rather than just standing being completely ignored for 10 mins! 3 members of staff and not 1 was polite enough to apologise for the wait. It was filthy dirty too, a bit of organisation during busy periods would help it out a lot!

My niece came over from oz who is eight we all had a great time eating fun food. Great size portions and the staff were so friendly and made our visit relaxed they couldn’t have done more.

My wife & I popped in to Sugar Rays last Friday 5th October for a change and we were not disappointed. Altough it was a quiet time of the day with all the local kids at school the service was quick and very professional. The menu for their Milkshakes is quite extensive and to find a Seafront establishment that can and does make a quality Milkshake is a blessing in disguise.. Made with ice cream and full of flavour. There is a choice of 3 sizes and the quality does not disminish irrespective of size chosen.. Very reasonably priced. Cannot comment on food as we did not eat during our visit There is an American Styled Seating Area inside or weather permitting there is adequate seating outside too. It is fully Wheelchair Accessible but cannot recall seeing any toilet facilities. Well worth a visit and it won’t break the bank either

Great in price , but milkshakes could be presented better , it's a shame as very nice shame hidden in a cup and lid .... Place needs an upgrade in looks and toilet ... I've seen staff use gloves to serve handle money and walk into front and make food again .... Don't like its cash only ....

Love it here! Best waffles, milkshakes and icecreams along with friendly staff and reasonable prices! But wish they would get another waffle machine so they can get a family order out altogether.

Great location on the often snubbed Canvey Island, reasonably priced & nice things to eat & drink... It's a great place to go, also nearby... The beach, paddling pools, kids play area, one or two small ride parks depending on season, a multi screen cinema, bowling... shops... bars... a chippy... it's all there 👍

I would avoid, the staff seem very rude. The food was ok but very small portions for the price paid. We came in last week and wouldn’t again. The lady serving seemed to dislikeChildren..... I would say that’s quite an important part of this role particularly in the 6 weeks holiday!

Was passing through Canvey so decided to stop here! Well...do not rate at all! Arrived its small, with cheap looking table and chairs no menus on any tables so me, hubby and daughter all had to queue just to look at the menu at the tills and as we hadnt been before had to pick quick as the queue was getting bigger behind us so felt rushed. We paid and thought it was really cheap so were pleased....until it came out and looked awful. We had pancakes and all we got was 3 round (what looked like ASDA pre packed pancakes) they looked and tasted just like them with a few scoops of ice cream now we know why it was cheap I could have made that at home better myself and no doubt even cheaper! Wouldnt recommend and wont ever be going back its a back street "american pancake place" its funny looking back now

Very good value for money. Kids loved the milkshakes and the menu for icecream and pancakes is also good. Service was good and very efficient unlike some other ice cream parlours I have recently been to. Will definitely being going back and normally visit after we have been to the movistar pictures.

This was the third time I've been here and it is for real indulgence. There are icecream sundaes, pancakes or you can create your own sundae with whatever fillers, toppers and icecream of your choice.

Yummy shakes, pancakes and waffles. Plenty of toppings and options.......Not silly prices and idea for a treat when visiting the beach.

The outside looks a bit old and battered toilets aren't very nice but food was lovely and the staff are really nice. Good value for money. And was very busy but didn't take to long to get served once you had chosen from great range.

I think that sugar rays make great food but if they had more staff it would be a lot quicker, other than that it's a brilliant place for eating in or out.

I went here with my 3 children 13,10 and 3 and they all loved it!!! (As well as myself and the folks ;) ) the interior is lovely and service was friendly and we didn't have to wait too long. The portions are very generous and great value for money. I've been here 3 times now and never been disappointed. Keep up the good work! X

Excellent service, yummy milkshakes and a fantastic menu. I would definitely take my niece and nephews back again. Five milkshakes for less than £15 excellent!

Went here today for the 1st time, with my nieces and nephews. Was great, really good value for money all 5 of us was under £18. Pancakes and sundaes were all really good, will be visiting again very soon.

Little cafe serving lovely sweet treats great value for money £4-£5 maximum for any of the dishes we had waffles and pan cakes both really nice made to order and tasty.

We stopped for a post cinema treat. My wife had pancakes, I had waffles and the two granddaughters had ice cream sundaes (bubble gum flavour!). The bill was just under £14 which I thought was incredible. The food was served very quickly, all freshly made and it was excellent. Will come here again for a treat.
