Well, what can I say… The “hot chocolate “ should be put under the ‘cold’ drinks section… first time I came here few weeks ago, I had hot chocolate in a small mug, it was warm, this week, by the time the waitress came out with our order, the hot chocolate was in a tall glass, with lots of froth, it was cold, next time I’ll bring my own! Prices are extortionate btw….

Visited on a Sunday afternoon, I suppose it's to be expected that it was very busy, although the experience seemed to be the same the last time that we visited. The coffee is nice but the cakes seemed exceedingly expensive. The young weekend (?) staff were very polite and in fairness, 'doing their best' but, it all seemed a bit frantic and frenetic. Food arrived promptly and pleasantly but I had to go looking for a knife (none supplied) and again later, for serviettes.

Relatively expensive for tea / coffee compared to other eateries in the locality. WiFi did not work (didn’t on a previous visit)! Still worth a visit. Nice walk from Winchcombe to the castle. To visit the castle itself is something like £22 (they do however do a family ticket).

Think it’s now called The Pavillion? Located by the gift shop, opposite the car park. Decent range of cakes and light lunches. WiFi did not work even with the code provided! Cups & saucers in the week, paper cups at weekends; apparently no one to wash up? Price remains the same. Nice walk from the village or when you visit the castle.

This relates to the coffee shop adjacent to the main house. There was one lady on duty. She couldn’t have been more helpful and was genuinely cheerful. Unfortunately the coffee shop ran out of food such as rolls and sandwiches at lunchtime. Coffee was good and what food we had was enjoyable

We like Sudeley Castle itself, but the cafe isn't half as good as it was in previous years. If you want limited choice, a dry bread sandwich with meagre filling, unfriendly service, all for an amazing £5, this is the place to eat! Otherwise, bring your own lunch!

The hot sausage rool was very meaty and herby which worked ok. The coffee however was so bad I genuinely thought it was starbucks. It is ghastly. The cafe also has an odd habit of creaking whenever anyone enters it due to it being raised off the ground by about 6 inches or so. It might be good for tea fans but coffee afficianadaos.........avoid.

I'm a local and have been several times since you relaunched the visitor centre. The place is perfect for walkers, castle visitors and locals to pop in but every time I do there's a HUGE queue waiting to put in their token into the s l o w e s t coffee machine ever. I can see if you weren't busy it'd be a waist to employ someone & not need them but when you get a 52 seater bus load in all wanting coffee and the loo the whole of their time would be spent waiting to pop in their token. Get 2 machines. Least that'd speed things up. Great place to visit just buy a bottle of pop if you are in a hurry.

Very poor and very overpriced food.My panini was just a toasted baguette, not ciabatta, with some very nasty, bitter sauce in that was supposed to be pesto, and a little scrap of mozzarella. Even worse was the children's food: I couldn't believe how cheap and nasty the sausages were; my daughter actually asked what they were made of because they didn't taste of meat. The peas were dried out and hard and the children wouldn't eat them. I really recommend taking your own sandwiches and hot drinks in a thermos.I was really shocked; it seems disrespectful to visitors to think they will be satisfied with such horrid and expensive food.

Visited Sudely Castle yesterday and I see I am not alone in my views of the coffee shop. Superficially, and from a distance it looks rather nice. However, looks can be deceiving. The coffee machine churns out a liquid which is not for those who are wanting anything resembling a decent cup of coffee. I have coeliac disease - my lunch choice was soup without bread or the ubiquitous jacket potato. Staff not remotely interested in the lack of choice for those of us with 'dietary requirements'. The soup yesterday was supposed to be tomato and red pepper. I don't like tomato but in the event of being faced with another jacket potato I had no option but to have soup (without bread). I needn't have worried about the tomato side of things as there couldn't have been any in there. It was hot though! I did voice my disappointment at the lack of GF options and it was clear they were not interested - neither were they unduly concerned that a couple of items of cutlery were dirty, when my partner returned them the response was 'cheers'. The Castle itself is magnificent with really welcoming staff and a very motivated and informed guide. The Dent-Brocklehurst family are to be commended - however, the cafe was a huge disappointment and in my view a poor reflection on everything they are trying to achieve there.

There are two cafes within the grounds - one at the entrance and another (Terrace) by the main building. There's indoor seating, a conservatory and outdoor wood picnic type tables. Inside, the food layout was haphazard with cakes etc on a centre table, sandwiches and cold drinks to one side, hot drinks to the other and hot meal menus behind the counter - all of which caused confusion with customers. Hot drinks are served from dispensers via tokens purchased at the counter. A pot of tea is actually good value as you could refill/top up without token. We had sandwiches, cake and hot drinks. The bread, especially on my cheese and pickle sandwich was hard/stale even though there were 2 days left before self destruct. From the packaging it would appear sandwiches are made on site rather than on a mass production line and maybe packets are not sealed well enough?Staff were slow to clear/clean tables and appeared to have a lack of drive.Overall - a distinctly average cafe but the castle and grounds more than made up for it.

We enjoyed our day at Sudeley Castle. It's a very interesting place indeed. However we thought the charge of £2.25 for a teabag and hot water in a cardboard cup at the café in the Visitor Centre was somewhat over the top..!Also the outdoor seating here is right next to the coach park. This means that if the time for the departure of a Coach Tour is getting close the driver starts the engine and runs it continuously to get the air conditioning running for the benefit of the returning passengers. This is nice for them but the resulting engine noise and the exhaust fumes completely destroy the peace and tranquillity and general ambience of the café seating area. The Terrace Café up at the Castle charges the same £2.25 for a tea (this time you get a small pot and a china cup) but doesn't suffer from the air and noise pollution caused by the tour coaches.

We were visiting the castle and thought it would be pleasant to have something to eat in the ( Much Pushed and Signposted !) café. They were also very keen to tell us that it was closing at lunchtime (???) so presumably we were all supposed to race in and eat early.Went in, a little tatty round the edges, bunch of trays of different sizes in a wobbly pile for you to take and queue with. rather taken aback by the prices.........jacket potato for £9 anyone ? It didn't look that appetising so maybe just a sandwich...................utterly awful white bread sandwiches that looked like they were made with Value bread a few days prior........a snip at £4 (!?!) or maybe a slice of very tired looking cake. It all looked dusty, unappetising and over-priced. We looked at each other and decided ( correctly ) that there are a number of nice pubs/restaurants elsewhere. To add insult to injury, they were then saying ( as the café was shutting early) that food could be bought in the gift shop. We couldn't resist seeing what they had on offer.......half a shelf of more of those tired, value sandwiches @ £4, some Snickers bars and some bags of crisps @95p each.Bring a picnic !!! But also , BEWARE of this early closing thing. the café, church and part of the gardens were to be closed off from lunchtime due to a wedding. How lovely but .........with all that CLOSED off, shouldn't there have been a reduction in the ticket price ??? Its the kind of place you would bring Great Aunt Mabel to and to not even have access to a cup of tea and a sit down after 12.30 is a Bit Much. You can tell its privately owned, no need for a customer service policy here !

We visited on the Sunday of the recent bank holiday weekend, planning to have a nice day out and lunch at Sudely. We arrived in the cafe at 2pm, joining a long queue, and soon after were told that the kitchen was closing for half an hour because they were 'too busy and couldn't cope with all the orders' but that there were still sandwiches available to buy - there were six left in the fridge and they were gone within about a minute of that announcement and were not replenished. The member of staff told us that if we came back in about 20 minutes they would be taking food orders again so we decided to have a cup of tea and wait but when we returned after 20 minutes we were told that the kitchen had run out of food. All of the empty tables were covered with dirty dishes and were only cleared by people wanting to sit at the tables - I actually saw customers wiping the tables with wet wipes. I think it's probably just as well that we couldn't order food because the poor couple sat next to us waited an hour for 2 bowls of soup. There was a history day going on at Sudely so why they didn't anticipate being busy is beyond me.Totally shambolic with inadequate staffing, poor service and dirty tables.

Had a cream tea very nice and reasonably priced. Nothing seemed to much trouble for the staff. The food looked good for what I could see.

We had lunch here during our visit to Sudeley which was really delicious. I had the Cajun Chicken wrap which was huge and extremely tasty and my husband had chicken and mushroom pie which was accompanied by a delicious sauce. Really big portions and great value for money. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient and the cafe had such ambience in what looked like the old banqueting hall. Highly recommended for a delicious value for money meal.

We had a light lunch before staring our visit to the Castle and rest of the grounds, having walked through some to get to the Castle, and enjoyed a pleasant lunch outside on a sunny Saturday in May.The food was well prepared and tasty, and although not cheap, the value justified the price we think.

It is what you expect from such places, not the place for a slap up lunch but somewhere to have refreshments and sandwiches after exploring the castle and grounds . Contrary to other posts on here we found the prices were average and no more than you would expect . We had sandwiches, coffee and cake. (2 people ) and it was just under £13 which really isn't bad at all.

We enjoyed food and drink that was different to the standard National Trust offerings (not that these are poor in themselves: just good to be a bit different).Lunch was very good, and the service was polite. Yes, it was probably a little expensive, so 4 star not 5.

Really, no atmosphere and VERY expensive food. Staff are nice and helpful, but I can't help feeling that like so many cafes at historic buildings, they make little effort with the design and layout of the restaurant - and why is everything so expensive!

A welcome drink/snack after a tour of the castle, especially on a hot day. Good seating and tables outside.
