Worst Subway I’ve ever had. Avoid this place like the plague. There’s so much competition in York they need to up their game; no wonder the place was empty. The lady behind the counter was really rude, no customer service skills. The sandwich, which I always order, at other Subways was extremely below par. I asked for it toasted with melted cheese and it was stone cold… The sandwich was just slapped together. Not the standard of any other Subway I’ve ever had anywhere. Seriously disappointed ☹️

Other reviews about bad atmosphere are right. The big guy making the sandwiches was rude and clearly didn't give a hoot about his job. He wasn't listening to his coworker either. Just bad vibes all round. No wonder the place was completely empty!

hello, I'm one of the drivers of just eat....I want to say that you have the most personal root of all...I waited 40 minutes to pick up an order that should have been ready at the time of arrival...the deliveries are ignored they speak badly to the drivers and do not respect us... the staff should understand that we drivers represent a customer who is waiting at home for his food to be delivered... the manager did not want to tell me my name so that I could not make a complaint, but this it happened at 1pm on 29/07/2024 maybe someone will take action

I wouldn't ordinarily review a subway - we all know what they are like. But the staff here are so frosty, bordering on aggressive that it was an unpleasant experience. Tried the waffle fries for the first time - a squidgy, squishy mess. Horrible. In fairness, the sandwich itself was decent.

Horrific experience. Foul and rude and racist sandwich makers. Inedible sandwiches. Asked for meals but made us pay for sandwiches, drinks and crisps separately. Would NEVER recommend.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Absolutely the worst customer service and rude staff/management. I wish I could inform corporate if how poorly this franchise is run.

**Subway, York - Absolutely Terrible!** I recently had the misfortune of stepping into the Subway in York, and let me tell you, it was a nightmare from start to finish. The old hag working behind the counter was an absolute disgrace. She had zero manners and seemed to enjoy shouting at customers for no reason. It felt like I had walked into a war zone instead of a sandwich shop. The sandwiches were a complete joke. Soggy, lifeless, and thrown together with zero effort. It was like the staff didn’t give a damn about what they were serving. Every bite was a slimy, disgusting mess that made me regret even walking through the door. And don’t even get me started on the wait times. It took forever to get my order, even though there were barely any other customers. Clearly, these clowns have no idea how to run a business efficiently. Avoid this Subway like the plague. Rude staff, gross food, and endless waits – it’s not worth your time or money.

Usually I never write bad reviews but as we felt that mistreatment we don’t want other to experience that level of disrespect we endured this afternoon. The Lady at the counter was very rude and practically shouted at us. We tried to be understandable as there was numerous deliveries being prepared however we got zero consideration back. I usually like subways however the subway we got was very soggy to the point it was decaying and the other half of foot long was very dry as the lady was not very considerate and shut us down at every attempt of communication. The point if this review is not to get anyone fired but state the mistreatment we endured.

Rude staff, absolutely shambolic in store experience. Food tasted ok - standard subway but ruined by the vibe in store and terrible staff. Gentleman by the salad counter and on the till seemed on another planet and the lady very gruff - no greeting, allegedly "unaware" of promotions and not a great place to be. Only come here if it's a necessity!

This had to be the worst experience ever going to a subway. They were lazy and clumsy and made some extremely subpar subs… more than that they overcharged me and kept on questioning me when I wanted to check the receipt. I had to ask for them to give me my sub as they seemed clueless and completely zoned out. Awful experience…

Workers seem miserable. The girl who served me didn't greet me, just barked questions at me "white or brown" , "6inch or foot long". Talking to me like I was inconveniencing her by ordering. When the food was done she just slung it on the counter with a "here you go". Food was ok, hot but bread was slightly soggy on the inside and more cheese than the other fillings.

It's been years since I last went into a Subway and I did not know what to expect on my first visit the other day. Theresa provided excellent five star service, she was extremely accommodating and patient with me. I loved the attention to detail in preparing my gigantic yummy salad and choosing the right dressing. Many thanks to Theresa and your lovely Team, I genuinely can't wait to go back for more. Highly impressed!

What's the point of having a offer that you cannot use? Received offer £3.99 for a footlong. Checked participating stores blossom street subway was on the list and that's my usual one i use. Manager said she's text owner of shop but they haven't updated so there's nothing she can do. She also said not all are participating but as stated when you check stores this one is. Won't be going back anytime soon. Will go elsewhere. Service nil. Communication nil. OMG another dissapointment friday 22nd march 2023.Went in tonight at 9.45pm old guy says sorry where closed sign on door says 10pm and on website 10pm. Nowhere does it say 9.45pm. Most frustrating, annoying when ya just want a subway. Grrrr.

Very soggy food and the swearing was a little much between staff banter.

If I could give this store zero stars I would. Don’t think ive ever been in a subway that prioritises online orders so much. Honestly it’s like you’re invisible in this store. Just keep smashing out online orders and ignoring anyone in the shop. Then refused to simply remove 1 item and replace it with another. Walked out with nothing after ten minutes waiting with none else in the store. Went to Kfc and got served with what I wanted in about 1 minute.

Refused to offer a 'National' promotion, despite Subways website saying they were a participating store. Top management. Spent my £20 in the KFC over the road

Ordered to Aviva via just eat I don't really eat a lot of SubWay but I wasnt too hungry so ordered on break and arrived within 15 minutes. The sandwich was quality better than SubWay was years ago. Never been to the Subway in particular in person but as the quality goes I don't understand the bad reviews.

Rude lady served me, over charged me for a packet of crisps which I bought from Sainsbury’s across the road, missed half the toppings I asked for. No customer service given at all so rude

The last 2 times I’ve ordered from here my wrap has arrived warmed up (so is soggy when I open it) when I’ve indicated that I DO NOT want it to be grilled. Several times they’ve left cookies off the order too. Honestly, 75% of the time my 2-person order arrives wrong.

one of my usual subways however coming here doesnt seem worth my time as I was used to renees lovely greetings, but since i no longer see her around im greeted now by an older gentleman employee who is very rude and seems to make careless mistakes with my sandwich every time. not worth the customer service anymore :(

The staff were rude to my husband multiple times and each time we were giving them the benefit of the doubt. It's a shame because we used to be frequent customers. Today was the worst as the staff woman was shouting on my husband to order from outside the shop without explaining what she meant by that and when he wanted to understand what she meant, she kept shouting on him to order outside which is very rude. When he asked her to be kinder to him as a customer, she clearly didn’t care. We are never ordering from subway again

Walked in on my lunch break and stood at the counter, i waitied for 7 minutes with two other random customers who walked in just after myself. The staff members there did not say a word to any of us or even acknowledge us, no "we will just be a mo" they just talked to themselves. Me and some of the other random customers ended up walking out and going to KFC over the road which took around 6 minutes from ordering the food to getting it and we were greeted. I really do not recommend this subway, not all subways, just this one.

Bad service. Didn't liked how they talking with costumers. Couldn't understand what he was saying. They really little amount of food in it.

It's a subway.... you know what your getting if they know how to make it properly. This place does. Some times customer service is hit and miss but its a York subway and its rather busy on occasions in a busy area.

The staff were rude and unfriendly. The younger guy complained to his coworker about me arriving when he wanted to leave for a break or something. Some people shouldn't work in customer service and he's one of them. His older co-worker asked me if I was okay and I said I'm fine. I honestly thought he was going to tell me to smile at one point. Very expensive subway too and not that great.

£8.49 for a footlong sub. Got to be having a laugh! You can get a full meal for that at pear tree farm! Guarantee subway at blossom street be turning into students flats before 2022 is out cos you’ll have gone bust! Either that or your staff will make you bust because they are so rude nobody will want to return! And yes I’m talking to you red headed lady who looks like a bulldog chewing a wasp and tall gent who couldn’t care less.

Only one other customer, early Sunday evening, man behind the counter barely looked up from his work and greeted us with: "only got tigerbread or white" - not a hello or even acknowledgement we were there. We waited and we waited...still no communication or even a "sorry for the wait"...after ten minutes of this nonsense we simply left the shop. Unbeleivable.

First of all I wLked in to crates everywere, nothing was stocked, the 2 ladies who were serving me were more interested in their personal conversation than serving the customers, the lady was very rude to me I already told her what I wanted for her to continue asking even though I already said, to top it off the change I was given a coin that was an illigal tender (the old pound coins that nobody takes no more) please be more polite to your customers and check the change that is handed to you and the change you give out! Not all of us have time to go to a bank!

Don't wear face masks. Only guy wearing one with big red nose wasn't wearing it right either. Guy with short grey hair sneezed in direction of food. The hygiene in this branch is disgusting also why does the woman with short red hair have no customer service skills or manners. Avoid.

Went in to buy some sandwiches but Noone drom staff even say hello, there was 2 fuya from Deliveroo waiting for their order ,so nobody could place an order till this deliveroo order was done so i left and 2 other customer left too. Not greeting not estimated time of waiting given, a guy who wanting just to pay for Christmas couldnt even do so! Very bad customer service.

Lovely food and coffee but the experience was made better due to the guy that served us. Lovely helpful lad so would recommend going there.

Bought cups of tea but weren't told till after that they had no milk. No list of drinks up. Cookies good .

Order was wrong and didn’t receive items I paid for

WARNING - ZERO HYGEINE. One member of staff put her fingers in her mouth no less than 8 times and another wiped her nose on the back of her hand. No hand washing, then handling knives, bowls and touching the till. This place needs closing down and staff retrained in basic hygeine. Disgusting.

We ordered from here through just eat and their missed a lot of our items off.

The only reason I ordered subway from here on just eat is cause it's the only one that shows up. The food from there is never good, it's made sloppy and as for toasting there sandwiches it's almost like they dont even try and I always have to toast them myself before eating them. Dont get me wrong, once I've toasted it correctly it tastes great but they have poor service. I recommend avoiding subway on blossom street and make the extra little journey to the one on stonebow instead.

Can't give 0 stars sadly , worked here for just under a month and with a change in manager it really went down hill from there he really didn't care about employees mental health and then fired me and when I asked for a reason I got told there was no reason and that they didn't need to give me one it was a joke that they ran the business like they did all I can suggest is do NOT work there you will get screwed over sorry not sorry .

Rude manager wouldn't get off the phone to serve me, waited 5 minutes, apparently his phone call gossiping was more important than serving a customer.

What's a joke!!! Won't be going here again. I've been quite a few times. And on many of those occasions it's like the staff are scared to put more salad on my sandwich. The whole point of this store is so we can have our sandwichs our way. So when I ask for more than 10 pieces of jalepeno for example. I Dont expect to be told that the uptight owner can't afford the jalepenos. What an absolute joke this store is.

Would give ZERO stars if I could. First time as a family we’ve had subway! Never again! Ordered through just eat. No issue with just eat as the delivery was fine, the food thought.. appalling! We paid £32 for 4 subs, hash browns and drinks. Subs were thrown together, missing cheese and extra cheese also on one of them! Was basically meat and dry bread. Ham slices were discoloured round the edges and stale, so went in the bin. I basically had to strip the sandwiches and remake them, adding our own cheese and grilling them as guess what... that hadn’t been done either like we requested. Also there was a drink missing from our order. Absolute rubbish. Have heard so many good things about subway over the years, but I’m no way ever going to pay over £7 for a slapped together, stale, dry, half made sandwich again. This place gives the subway brand a bad name! 0/5

Came just about 2hrs from closing and for the third time in row, no meat meatballs. Not good enough. Management needs to sort this. I will keep reviewing untill it's sorted!

Overpriced, dont always have the stock

Incredibly rude staff. Waited 10 minutes for a veggie sub only to be told they don't have any (this was at 1pm). Then the staff member starts shouting 'you should've said when you came in that you wanted one' - it isn't exactly a special made-to-order sandwich, it's one of the main menu items. Then the staff member starts shouting about how she's on her own and doesn't have time to unpack the deliveries. Really weird. She was obviously stressed out but don't take it out on your customers.

Once again closing early tonight... (Thursday 03 October) last time exactly the same.Not meant to close until 9 but already refusing service at 20.30- 20.40? Half hour before you close? ... Sort it out management.. It's ok Fish and Chips it is as they stay open until they are meant to.

Absolutely shocking experience there was one member of staff behind the counter who was making one sandwich at a time slowly then we asked if there is any toilets and she mumbled where to find them.

While on my dinner, 12.30 am 17/6/19 I was Totally ignored, was waiting in the queue, the person behind the counter started to serve the people who came in well after me. This was the 2 nd time this has happened, totally useless staff. No apology given, yes I have walked out and now will never use this establishment again. Hopefully people will see this and not use them either 😁

Always the same food at subway, large sandwiches on rolls either 6inch or 12inch (how did they bypass the rules that retail items had to be displayed in metric). Lots of choice of fillings which are tightly packed into the roll and subsequently overspill its juicy contents when the wrapping is opened. Reasonably priced with combo offers of drinks and crisps & cookies available to buy as a set meal or separately. Seating is available but not restaurant standard generally, just a plain area for eating your sloppy sandwich.

Quick delivery, delicious wholesome satisfying food for a reasonable price.

Bekend met Subway namen we ‘s morgens alvast een broodje voor onze trip van York naar Dover. Bediening was bij dit kort contact super vriendelijk en een gesprek over koetjes en kalfjes volgde snel. Enorm tevreden over de bediening en het broodje later op de dag smaakte heerlijk

Fresh breads, salads and a good variety of fillings. Glad they do a vegan option. Friendly service.

Bit too expensive and slow but good food

Typical Subway done well! Quick, friendly staff only problem was the herb and cheese sub had jalapenos on them which i hate but apart from that really good.

I happened to be in York for business and was looking for a quick bite to eat and subway being subway I thought what could go wrong ? Firstly no tomatoes and very limited selection of breads and other veg. secondly the girl on duty told me she could not accept Scottish £20 notes (we are not independent YET) Staff need more training to actually be at the counter when customers are in and to ensure they have the stock required to provide a reasonable service.

Subway is a Subway, or is it? Eat subways all over the planet, same same. The difference in this one is the staff, happy, friendly and genuinely interested in their customers, my kids love it.

I am a huge Subway fan, but sadly this one is not a good example. This review is based on 3 visits over the space of a few months, so not a single bad experience. Staff are ok, but I on all three visits (all midday to mid afternoon), there have been stock issues - at least 1 filling not being available on each occasion, no cutlery for salad bowls once, some sauces not available - including mayonnaise!. They also don't do the chicken teriyaki properly- instead of having it pre-prepared, so the sauce actually flavours the chicken, they just plonk a dollop of the teriyaki mix on the standard roast chicken, which is then much too strong - not actively unpleasant but not tasty - and still charge the premium price for it! Will definitely not be going to this Subway again!

OK and very similar to other subways but one of their smaller ones. I couldn't see any indication of them having a toilet, although I didn't ask.

Guy was on his own on a heaving Saturday afternoon. He was working so fast it was a blur but super friendly and heard every detail of all the orders. This guy was an absolute credit to Subway - you should put him on double time!

Staff where superb. very welcoming. Very polite. Especially the woman on the morning shift she was as mad as a box of frog, made us laugh, fantastic at her job. Think she needs a pay rise. Xxx

We love subway but because KFC across the road were closed to their infamous non delivery issues the local kids had to choose a healthier option and descended upon subway leaving them short of veg by 6pm so our order was reduced to just cucumber and lettuce which was disappointing but the staffwere very apologetic. My wife was going to get breakfast the next morning but the only staff member was outside smoking so my wife didnt feel like being served by that person so maybe best for staff to do this out of sight of potential customers.

Food was decent but the meatballs were a little dry possibly due to not being cooked earlier in the day staff was friendly

Myself and 3 friends into this subway at around 9am on a Saturday morning. We then sat down and waited for 5 minutes trying to see any staff. We saw a bell so started ringing it to no effect. Continued to wait another 5 minutes to see still no sign of life. We then rang the bell again hoping for some form of service. Whilst waiting we noticed the meat and salad had been open, being able to air in the warm environment and open without a hint of covering. Finally after around 10/12 mins the employee arrived down the stairs. He then proceeded to shout at us saying ‘ringing the bell won’t make me come any quicker, I have bread to sort out that is more important than you’ which made a regular subway customer feel severely undervalued. I’ve been to many places up and down the United Kingdom and by far this is the worst service I’ve ever received. Give this subway a wide birth!

Friendly staff. But the Subcard machine is rarely working

Was alright, nothing to write home about, presentation wasn't great, kind of looked thrown together and the staff kept leaving the place and going outside for cigarettes leaving everything unattended, sandwich was edible so that's a bonus I guess, also lack of ingredients was slightly irritating, no mayo or lettuce? Really... oh well

We went into the shop around 8pm on Saturday evening. The member of staff was rude and had hardly any bread. He continously talked over us when we tried to order the sandwiches. Wish we had left getting the sandwiches now as after getting them and returning to our room at the hotel. the bread was found to be rock hard. It is only after thinking back we realised that there was no door on the shelving were the bread was stored after cooking. So £5 worth of subway healthy tuna sandwich went straight into the bin, as was not going to risk it with the bread being like that, plus no gloves where worn either.
