Pizza Hut in York

Staff have been great on every visit to date, food always tastes good and reasonably priced. Love this Pizza Hut branch and will definitely visit again.

Came in for the buffet and was seated and got asked if we had done the buffet before and knew how it worked to which we agreed (all previous ones we had visited took our drinks order and gave us plates) we were sat for around five minutes and my partner got up to ask where he can get drinks. The manager then said “I thought you have been here before why aren’t you using the app” we told him we couldn’t connect to any service so couldn’t get onto it and looked around at other tables to suggest they managed. We told him our table number and pointed in the direction too and he just looked at us and Repeated to ask why we aren’t using the app then my partner looked at him in absolute shock and came back to the table. We decided to leave as he was giving a lot of attitude to us for no reason and it was also practically empty so I assume that shows. Absolutely shocking customer services on the manager, other staff seemed ok

Buffet, speed of service and attentiveness very good

Lovely dinner although personally slightly too much grease however it is pizza 😜 Also, despite the waitress being on her own, service was great. The atmosphere had an American diner feel, open plan and neon etc. Thank you!

Really we only go for goats pizza it's good every thing else is always good

Visited for dinner a couple of days ago. Staff were pleasant although ordering is now done via a QR code so the interaction was minimal. Food was very slow to come out, but it was tasty enough. The real issue to me was the price. Pizza hut used to be a cheap alternative to the likes of Pizza Express yet now its worse value and still lower quality. If it was still a cheap eat, it'd be great, but with these prices I'll stick to the better options in future!

We've just had our worst date ever at this pizza hut. Got there and tried to order food on the online thing which didn't work, we had already told the manager we have had issues ordering in the past and he didn't offer to take our order in person. After failed attempts online we had to request to order in person which delayed things. We both ordered the buffet, I instantly asked about margherita pizzas and was told they would be out on the buffet any minute. my husband who is less fussy than me went to the buffet and got what he wanted. 25 minutes later I had still not had a single slice of pizza, not one new pizza of any kind including margherita was put out on the buffet. Loads of veggie pizzas no one was eating and that were getting cold anyway, and various people getting up and down checking for margheritas with no luck. In the end I spoke to 3 members of staff and complained to the manager, they finally put a margherita out and everyone that had been waiting for it rushed over and it was gone within two minutes. More waiting, spoke to the manager twice about it, finally some more came out after we had all given up. I've never been to such a bad pizza hut. The whole point of the buffet is that it's quick and easy and you don't have to sit waiting for your food to come, we spent our whole date with me watching my husband eat while I sat starving! When we left nobody apologised, manager busied himself washing tables instead of apologising when I had complained directly to him about the service, and we weren't even offered to have the price of a drink knocked off our bill. They weren't even busy. I can't believe they wouldn't prioritise margheritas when fussy kids eat buffet and want plain pizzas and loads of adults want it too. Other pizza huts keep an eye on the buffet and keep it stocked up with fresh pizzas, not ones that have sat going cold half an hour. Manager said some people had pre ordered food and their food got prioritised over the buffet - absolutely bizarre state of affairs if a restaurant full of people had to go hungry so some people who have pre ordered can eat quicker. Avoid avoid avoid.

Surprised this branch is open, can't imagine it would pass food safety. I think Pizza Hut brand must be surviving purely on 90s nostalgia.

We went for the buffet lunch and we really had our monies worth. Hot pizza's, garlic bread, not a bad salad selection. Pasta had a good choice. I'm only down grading the atmosphere as the noise of children screaming. But don't let that put you off a good lunchtime deal.

Good, fresh, tasty food, lovely friendly atmosphere, everything was clean and comfortable and we were able to spend all the time we wanted on our meal despite arriving very late.

Okay, it's a family restaurant, however I would like to suggest hand washing facilities and slight improvement in hygiene at the self-service counters.

The food is always nice. The staff usually lovely. Sometimes it gets way too busy and noisy with the amount of people that can be fitted in.

Called in for lunch today while out Christmas shopping with family I went for the buffet wow Great pizza plenty of it and not just plan margarita well done guys My Wife is ceoliac and we struggle to find places that cater for allergies Pizza Hut 100% great details plenty of choice Thank you Pizza Hut I must mention Jesica the young lady who practically runs the place she was non stop a true credit to Pizza Hut Showing people to their tables taking their order serving drinks and food and replenishing the salad bar I felt like she was the only member of staff there!

Awful experience, went in on a quiet Tuesday, had to wait 5 mins to even be seated then left after 20 mins as no one had even come to take my order. Appalling service

Went today,opted for the buffet option along with at least 20 other customers some of which had young kids....absolute shambles,we spent more time waiting for pizza than we did eating!.....a buffet should NOT run empty....if they cant cope then a buffet option shouldnt be a choice.......on a plus side the waitress i saw said sorry more than once & cut our bill in half....

Boring choice of pizza never again

Absolutely dreadful. Zero taste. We ordered the £44 deal for 3 which comes as 1 x large pizza, 2 sides, 2 deserts. We ordered a split pizza. Veggie on 1 side, pepperoni on the other. Niether tasted OK. The base sauce was bland, the cheese was limited with no flavour. Even the pepperoni was tasteless. The crust too was bland. The chips for the cost were a small portion. The onion rings were pail and ok. This is profit before taste. We left 2 pieces of pizza, which given there were 3 sharing 1 is very poor. We declined the deserts we paid for as part of the offer. That's how turned off we were. Server was great. I gave her the feedback, but what can you do when this is how they cook and deliver. Wasnt suprised to see more bad reviews than good. I have emailed the ceo with the feedback, although I doubt there is anything they can do as we wont return not even with a free voucher. This is how bad it was. The salad bar is also a tasteless selection of items. Dominoes for us going forward.

We used to visit Pizza Hut quite a lot a few years ago and decided to give it another try. We were quite disappointed. The restaurant was very cold so I kept my coat on. The food was ok but definitely over priced. Not much customer service now that you order directly from the table. A meal deal at £22 each was crazy compared to a higher end restaurant in York.

Overpriced buffet, with not w ough selection of pizza. Would've been cheaper buying 2 pizzas than getting 2 buffets. Might just be me getting old but fast food quality is rapidly declining. Not worth it at all.

This pizza hut is terrible, it's expensive and if that weren't enough, they don't bring you the pizza. I went to dinner and my friends are still waiting for the pizza and they had problems getting their money back. Anyway, don't go there.

Effectively turned away! Though there were tables that just needed a wipe down cleaning, the member of staff gave a silly time to three parties consisting of 2, 3 & 6. So, not impressed!

Fantastic buffet lunch, staff were superb, super well organised service. Credit to the manager as well he was a machine and so friendly.

Yummy pizza, great meal deals & wonderful service

I went with a friend to eat a gluten free pizza on Sunday.I want to tell you that I had a bad experience, the staff were inexperienced, I ate a pizza with crispy salami and some olives and paid £20, how is that possible? Oh, and I forgot to mention that the pizza was very small, it was the size of a children's pizza .So let me tell you, my girlfriend and I paid £40 for 2 pizzas, how is it seriously possible, even in an authentic pizza restaurant, there are no other prices.Another thing that amazed me was I asked for an espresso and I was shocked when he brought it to the table, it was put in a holder and not even served in a coffee cup, then I went to the waiter and said it's normal for expresso to be served like that and he apologizedI usually never leave negative feedback, but this was the first because I was really shocked by the experience I had! Avoid this place!

Very poor service. Staff didn't seem to have a clue and were disinterested. Salad bar empty as such a long wait for food that was most people's main meal. Massively over priced for the quality. Should have gone to pizza express. Avoid.

I went there for dinner and I ordered a pizza which by the way was too expensive and they didn't bring it to me, don't worry, it's expensive and bad and they gave me trouble to return my money. It won't happen to me again and with you? don't really go

Food was cooked well and in a timely manner. Atmosphere hard to judge as we were literally the only patrons. Service was done by very polite and friendly staff. The only downside is use have to use a smartphone to order and pay for your order, luckily my wife is clued up in tech matters where I just make a call on my brick.

We were queuing out the door, nobody came to see anybody to be seated or told about a situation. Dirty tables were everywhere, we had to ask a young waitress after 20 minutes what was happening. The manager eventually came to see us and said it was a 30 minute wait, I said well if you clean the 5 dirty tables I can see from here then we would beable to sit down! He was very rude and said it’s still going to be 30 minutes! Bad customer service and very understaffed! We drove to Bella Italia and Clifton moor and had a lovely meal and were seated immediately. Won’t be going back!

Never had a Manager so attentive in a pizza hut , this rubbed off on the whole team fantastic eperience .The ability to be able to sit outside with our dog was fantastic , we understand not inside but one of the few with tables outside what a great idea.

First off why no cash, we had been given some money to go out for tea but could not use it because it was card payments only, that is disgusting if we had not had a child with us we would have gone elsewhere. The salad bar was meagre to say the least. Pizza was over cooked and burnt in places and the onion rings tasted of cheese which says to me they were probably cooked at the same time as someone else's cheese bite things. The ice cream factory was disgusting with melted ice cream and sauce all over the countertop and my son ended up with half a bowl of melted ice cream before edible ice cream came out of the dispenser. After he had finished his ice cream and about 20 mins after myself and partner had finished eating no one had come to clear the table and offer us our desserts so I went and asked for them to be given to us in takeaway containers queue another 10 minute wait, probably a good thing you MADE me pay when I ordered as I would not have paid after given the service and quality of the food,

Amazing staff willing to accommodate eating disorders and learn more about them. They went above and beyond to help my girl to eat.

The waitress gave me a 12 and under menu and asked me if I wanted any colouring when you can clearly tell I am 16. I have a nose piercing for christ sakes. I might be small and what she said might of been unintentional but there’s still no need. I am awfully offended.

When walking into the pizza hut, I could feel the cold room as on an already mild day, the air-conditioning was on full. The room was very busy and noisy the queue stretched outside and the food was undercooked as the cheesy bites were pale even though it took half an hour to be brought to our table. The pizza fell apart once it arrived. As i was leaving, I went to the toilets that were incredibly dirty. I do not recommend going to this pizza hut!

Went today for 9.99 all you can eat Buffet. Maybe ok if you are a meat eater, but don't bother if you are Vegetarian. A thin rather sad looking couple of slices of Margherita Pizza was my only choice. Totally tasteless and hardly any cheese! I then waited for more choice only to find the only other options were more of the aforementioned Pizza or the same again, but thick crust. We don't all want to fill up from the salad bar or on the Pasta. I will not be going again. Worst possible table service ever. First the online menu was the worst possible thing then after we ordered they gave us cups then they took 40 minutes to them to come over and ask if we ordered. Most of the time they were sat on their phones exept one of them . Then they asked us if we ordered but they brought are cups over so they new we ordered. Then they went off and they all laughed. Then magically our food came down and they brought it. It was stone cold and they didn’t even apologise for the wait. Would 100percent not recommend . They were so rude

We arrived 10 mins early was hoping just inside the door would be hoovered before we went in but it wasn't, the guy told us when we received the bill that you can't pay cash, but he could use his card and we pay him cash, seems a strange thing to say to customers,.food was ok but I don't think it was the best we've had

Place is filthy. Not much more to add other than Pizza Hut has become far too expensive for the tasteless over priced barely warm offerings.

Sadly the blonde manager on shift today (23/07/23) was extremely poor at her job. Whilst waiting the hour wait for a table, we whitenesses 12 people turn and and leave which we were perplexed about as there was between 5/6 dirty tables with nobody sat at them (and nobody cleaning them) at any one time over the course of the hour. This approach was surprising as you’d expect the restaurant to want to cater and take as much custom as possible. Perhaps they should put a 2hr limit on buffet tables? We felt the manager was extremely poor at her job as having worked in hospitality myself the standard direction from management is to clean dirty tables which she failed to execute at any level. Her attitude was also very poor and greeting to customers unfriendly. I understand we all have bad days and this may have been one of them though judging by others reviews I expect not.

I enjoyed a quick lunch with family. Service was excellent, very quick. Food was good, buffet pizza gets a bit cold quickly but did keep refilling the buffet. Salad buffet good. Would visit again

Would definitely return here, after not being into a Pizza Hut restaurant for a while or not having a Pizza Hut takeaway for some good time I was really happy with the service and food we got today! The store manager was very polite and made us feel very welcome as soon as we were waiting to be seated. Giving our nephew some crayons and a couple sheets to keep him busy whilst we were waiting for food, class! The food was perfect and very tasty! Very good store considering it is only a small unit. Would definetly return and look forward to the next time we pop over to Pizza Hut at Monks Cross! Thank you!

Lovely time. Enjoyed the lunch buffet. Asked if it was possible to sit away from doors but told other tables were reserved. We were there an hour and no-one used other tables. As we were right beside the door our food was cold. Perfect other than that.

Absolutely useless and overpriced. We insured our car through an insurance company that allows 2for1 deals in certain restaurants so thought we would try Pizza Hut. 1.the pizzas are ridiculously overpriced. 2.card only, which is a massive no for me as I’d rather the banks didn’t receive a percentage on every transaction I make not would I like them to know where I’m spending my money.Hate companies that do this. 3.Order on app only ? What? I had no idea how to use the app and no idea how to claim my offer and when I asked for assistance I was met with the response ‘it’s app only so if you want me I will get to you when I get to you ‘ , you would almost think they were unaware that the customer pays their wages? What I found hilarious about the whole thing is that there were only about 8 tables full in the restaurant and the staff were running around like it was the busiest most difficult job in existence! I wouldn’t mind but they don’t even have to take the orders themselves? Safe to say we walked out and safe to say I’ll never set foot in the place again. My advice to anyone thinking of going to Pizza Hut in the future.Have a look around, find a small local business that actually wants your business.Try and pay them cash if you can because it will save them having to pay a percentage to the banks.and discover how much more you can get for your money .Look after people that look after you.

Really disappointed. We ordered a takeaway. The food was cold, cookie dough was tiny and raw. Pizza had half the cheese missing off it. 1 random olive on our pizza when it wasn't ment to be there. Loaded cheese bites were nice but some of them were contaminated with chilli.

Taken my partner out for her birthday didn't want to pay the service was poor and food was cold.

All the staff were really friendly and helpful. It was clean and ran smoothly whilst we were dining. Everything was explained as needed

Rude staff. Paid £20 for a meal deal with a pizza that had no cheese. Staff argued that there was in fact cheese on the pizza they’ve just reduced the amount they’ve used, then the excuse turned to the cheese is under the tomato sauce? Gave me a new pizza with clearly showed the original didn’t have any cheese on it. Won’t be eating here again.

So, the good was: convenient location, decent food, easy to book, easy to order, super friendly and attentive waiting staff. The not so good: the food took ages to arrive and it wasn't especially busy although fully booked later on. A very large group arrived who had only booked for four adults and not their ten (yes, ten) children. These children were exceptionally disruptive and despite the restaurant being full booked the staff only had an attempt at removing this group but essentially gave in. This is partially understandable but essentially spoiled the restaurant for everyone else. Updated May 2023: .. the new system involves using the qr code to order and pay for your food. I would still have preferred ordering with a proper human to be honest. Waiting staff brought the food, having missed an item... but that was it. Cost cutting from pizza hut. Understand why,not sure I liked it.

Been a few years since I've been to this particular pizza hut came here today first we were met with we are Card Only and you order on the Internet by scanning on the table and the server walked off, OK this is a bit frustrating I've come to s restraint I expect to be served by the staff not serve my self! Placed the order and the main and the sides all came out at the same time just plonked in front of us, no offer of any sauces etc, Food was OK the pizzas were OK but very small considering the price, the chicken wings had no real meat on them think they need to feed there chickens a bit more, shortly after the server shouted asking us from a cross the building asking if our food was OK, so on the website it asks u at the start how mu h of a tip you want to leave seriously we are serving our self's so who does the tip go to seriously. When we finished and left we said good by to the gentleman near the door and he just grunted at us Not the best customer service at all

Went for the lunchtime buffet. Pizza was well stocked at all times, plenty of options, salad bar was full. I believe it was the manager, male with glasses, he was spot on, customer service was 100%, you could tell he was busy and rushed off his feet but still kept a smile on his face and a good sense of humour, only him and one other person serving in the restaurant. You are able to order and pay using your phone by scanning the QR code on the table. If you are in a rush this is the best option, no waiting for ordering or paying the bill.

Pizza for one is a kids meal. Doesn't give you sizes online so can't tell what your getting. £20 for a kids pizza. Won't be ordering again.

Standard Pizza Hut which is pretty good. Would recommend a more diverse salad bar and labels on the sauces. Also annoying the men’s toilets were out of order.

Great place for a large group on a Monday night. Food was great and served quickly. The salad bar had a great choice and was fully stocked. The staff were lovely and efficient.

The service was really good, whilst Pizza Hut may not be a 'top-end' restaurant, what we experienced was an efficient and friendly team, good food and a relaxed environment even though the restaurant was busy.

Really easy to book for a large a group - no deposit needed. Some had buffet, some had meals from main menu, All very easy to order via QR code on table (great for big group & dividing up bills, etc.) Very speedy service after ordering. Really friendly staff Buffet kept full & good quality / variety. Salad bar fresh & lots of choice.

Visited today for dinner. Food was good but the chicken flatbread was a bit bland. We asked for a portion of chips and were told they had run out. Witnessed two tables near us receive chips not 10 minutes later. If the chips are part of some meal deal, that’s fine! Tell us that, instead of lying to us!!

Very busy, several tables were left with used plates on but the staff were rushed off their feet. The food was lovely and premises generally clean.

They forgot about our drinks and I ended up going to the counter and getting our glasses myself. They cleared the buffet away, I feel a little early but they did come back to ask if we had finished with it. They had the door propped open and there was a very cold breeze coming in which was a bit uncomfortable.

Absolute shambles 👍 Sat for over an hour waiting for dessert… waiters were absolutely clueless and made us feel although we wasn’t even there!! Walked past us and just ignored us! But asked customers around us how their food was etc! Just felt ignored! Food orders were messed up and we got told our desserts were put through and then about 15/20 minutes passed another waiter came to us and asked what desserts we’ve ordered and then 30 minutes later still no desserts so we just upped and left!!! Defiantly won’t be visiting again 👍

The food was hot and nice, but I needed to scan the code to order. but as I had an allergy, I had to go check if I was able to have the food and then go back to scan to order. Would be easier to have someone to take the order

Haven't been for years and it didn't disappoint!

Sadly took the family for a treat on a "Match Day"(at the local stadium).I can only presume the three men,idiots,being allowed to intimidate customers had been to the match as were obviously drunk and rowdy.They got away with their pathetic behaviour far too long for our comfort and after reporting them to the waitress nothing changed throughout the rest of our meal,one of them in particular was standing behind a customer who was at the salad bar belching at the back of his head and running back to his mates all screaming/ laughing,my partner had same treatment at the drinks station. I felt very sorry for the couple who they kept targeting, who were also sick to death of their behaviour.Looked like the manager had a "nice" word with them eventually but the main "aggressive idiot" had left by then amyhow.Its not cheap and it's not always great service but to also now feeling scared whilst treating your family to a meal out,is just disgusting!.

Food was okay but the service was absolutely horrendous. It was a quiet Sunday evening and we waited 1 hour for sombody to come and ask us if we where ready for our deserts 🤓 Chap next to us got a refund due to his pizza taking so long to come out. The Self service salad table looked like a load of children have had a play fight with the food and the selection has gone down hill since I last visited any pizza hut... Where's the pasta gone??
