Not the best visit . It felt like an opening night very strange for this normally well run busy pub . Meals were going round tables as delivered to the wrong tables . Lengthy wait for drinks . Food was ok . No one came to check if it was . Hopefully next time we will be seated in the area debs serves however after Saturdays visit we won’t be in a rush to do so.

Not been in a while, so I treated ourselves to a Sunday lunch. The food was average and took a while to come. Bar service is not the best. Locals favoured over others that had been waiting to be served at the bar and service was slow. I get it's a country pub, plenty of people been for a walk and a pint with their dog of which I have no issue with but there comes a point when you have to think about limiting how many dogs you allow in, far too many and none kept under control, consistently barking at each other, far too loud and got a bit smelly too, this did not make our Sunday lunch an enjoyable experience!

absolutely shocking service, bar staff have absolutely no clue and seem to be lost completely, preference is given to regulars who are behind you in a queue, again the queue should not even exist as customers should be directed to the bar instead the congestion in a very tight area makes it completely backed up with people.ynable to move to the back or simply around the pub, what makes it ridiculous is even with a queue of one at at time to two bar staff it was incredibly slow, once at the bar I was completely ignored not once not twice but three times, staff at the bar completely oblivious , alos far to pretentious for what is a complete dive anyway will.not be returning and dont advise you to either unless you want to experience the chaos, went next door to the tapas restaraunt and had a fantastic bite to eat with attentive prompt servic, night and day in comparrison, at the ship you made to feel like your the problem the cheek of you making them have to work !!!!

Popped in for a quick pint after a visit to the Mill, lovely staff, nice and quiet as it was early afternoon, next time we go we’ll pop in again to taste the food, great atmosphere and big garden too.

Beautiful home made crumble with ice cream and a carafe of coffee .. tasty .. great personal individualised service .. ambience warm and cosy .. what’s not to like about it! I didn’t have a main today but if I had have done, I’d have gone for the fish and chips. I come to the area once every six weeks or so and always head to the Ship Inn .. well done Debra who always looks after me well ..

Fabulous staff and excellent food. Great beer selection all set in a really nice place. inside and out. Highly recommended and it's. a "Yes" from us. See you again soon.

Was out walking in the very nearby Quarry Bank Mill (which is well worth a visit) and fancied a mid afternoon bite to eat. Popped in to the Ship Inn, around 3ish on a Saturday - it was quite busy but they found us a table. Service for drinks was prompt and they came back quickly to take our food order. All very pleasant and friendly staff. Food soon arrived and did not disappoint- 2 differing meals selected, but we both thoroughly enjoyed our food. We also watched quite a few other meals also being served which also looked very appetising!! We left very content and impressed with our visit and wish that it was nearer to home as definitely would call back in on a regular basis. Great experience.

Previous visits always been 10/10 today not so good . Too dark can’t see the menu or what you are eating . Never eaten a Sunday roast that has been so tasteless . Very disappointing. The taste Yorkshire puddings had no taste .Lovely staff but food wise won’t be returning anytime soon.

Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Roast was tasteless. Gravy should be served separately not used to drown the meal. Place is tired and needs a refresh.

Don't care about customers. They installed a parking system They did not warn customers. When asked they refused to help cusomters. Instead the manager started to cry that is was not her fault but the owners. Emailed the owners but they hide in shame. Any other pub get the parking wrong they sort it. Here they lack the concern. A quaint country pub with attentive, friendly service. Pub food done well. If in this area- it’s worth a visit and a pint or two along with some food!

Although I don’t live in Styal, I count the Ship as my local. Nicky and her team know what they are doing, the front of house staff are on the ball, professional and friendly, David and Pedro who lead front of house are on top of their game. Mexican tosted sandwich is a great choice for a light lunch , leetle bit disappointed ( in a Mexican accent) that my lovely rocket was naked, missing the Balsamic I'd had previously. Perfect spot to grab some lunch after a walk in Styal Woods. Friendly and attentive staff especially David! Great to relax with food and a beer in the enclosed courtyard.

It's always a great time at The Ship in Styal. There is a comprehensive selection of beers and lagers. The menu is varied and will have something for everyone. With plenty of space, log fires, and a great ambience, this is a super country pub. Don't forget to tap in your reg, as the car park is now monitored by cameras.

Was asked for drink order as soon as I sat down. Asked if I could have a couple of minutes until my friend also arrived then no one returned to take our drinks order for ages! The food is overpriced for what it is. Some of it was quite nice, other items were pretty poor and bland. Was asked if we’d like to see the desert menu and then it wasn’t brought to us for a while. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there again based on the food quality, price and service.

We had a table booked for 4pm today. Arrived early just after three and enquired if there were table for drinks. Was told no everything full. Walked in to beer garden. There was a free table. Came back in to pub to order drinks and explained to same manager we had managed to secure a table outside...she just told me to go to the other bar for a drink as that one shut. Had to clear about ten empty glasses off our table as no staff free to do it. Starters and child's main came quickly. Jerk chicken was just chicken goujons and terrible. An hour later no sign of main. I'd asked three times if they were on the way. In that time I'd also queued for another round of drinks. A lady in front of me had ordered two roasts. Her food came out ten minutes later and ours still hadn't come. I went and asked for a manager and a refund due to the hour wait and I as given one no question....I'd have rather paid and had decent service. All staff had a face on them and seemed over worked and clearly had issues with management and clearly things weren't being run well. Clear sense of a toxic atmosphere. Shame as the actual roast was half decent. Wouldn't return.

Food good, service awful. New staff waiting on tables, without sufficient training. Wrong food brought, then had to wait ages for one meal. Didn't ask if we wanted a desert or if we wanted the bill. Place needs to concentrate on its customers

Meal was standard but nice atmosphere. One month later myself and friends all received £100 parking fine for using their car park whilst dining in the pub. No signage, no staff member mentioned the use of the car park. Absolute shambles, we will not be returning.

A complete waste of time and money. Some very rude staff, especially the barmen. Complete unorganised chaos. Was told to “try and find a girl (waitress) and acknowledge her to get served”. Food was OK - that’s at a push. Many rules about where you can and can’t eat / order from, but most people ended up at the bar trying to order as to get service was impossible. drinks never arrived when we managed to order them. Quite a waste on their part really as we could have spent a lot more money than we did, but had to get out of there. The only reason I’ve left this as 2 is to be fair as there was one or 2 nice ladies who were obviously trying very hard to keep everything going and everyone happy. Seemed like all of the other staff members were either mute, zombie-like, or rude. Local but would never return. Try the Spanish next door - we walked passed this on the way in and couldn’t decide, on the way out we were gutted we didn’t go there. Full of flies too. Everyone seemed miserable, staff and customers alike.

Second time visiting this place, and it never disappoints. The food is excellent, which is matched with the service on both occasions by a wonderful lady called Deborah. Some great recommendations by her and an extensive knowledge of the menu. Deborah's service last week encouraged us to return this week, and it was exceptional. We'll work a visit even if just for a drink and the atmosphere.

I entertain/sing at many pubs/hotels/theatre's around the country and what a joy it was to perform at the Ship Inn. Nicci and David greeted me warmly on arrival and we had the best afternoon with all the regulars from the Senior Social Club. All the staff were accomodating, engaged with the day and went the extra mile throughout looking after everybody. Great service, food and atmosphere - 10/10. Andy Powell/entertainer.
