Stubbington Tandoori in Fareham

hi guys, Recently all our local takeaways have been woefully inconsistent so decided to try this place as it was new on Just Eat so figured they'd deliver to us. Used their website as their Jus Eat had obviously not been proofed, was littered with spelling mistakes and half their menu was missing. They were running a 20% discount so decided to risk it......glad we did. Despite the distance it arrived hot, not greasy and the delivery driver was very polite. The order: Mixed kebab; a staple starter and pleased to say it was juxiy, tender and delicious. Special bhuna (a selection of meats): a good portion, prawns were big and sauce was nice and thick. If I had a criticism it was that the sauce was ever so slightly bland. Manchuria chicken: a cracking number, nicely spiced and delicious. Sag Aloo: standard, but no issue Chilli naan: was abit disappointing as abit soggy Mushroom rice: no complaints. So....not without minor faults, but overall really enjoyed the curry and would order again.. Special props also for using proper carved meat and not 'cubed' meat you get in some places.

Had chicken tikka biryani: excellent taste, portion size and value. Looking forward to collecting next excellent meal here tomorrow! Currently takeaway, collect or delivery looking forward to restaurant reopening soon!

Absolutely awful. This place used to be the absolute go to but I will never order again. Delivery took a while but the food wasn’t hot. Pilau rice was fine, but the pasanda was thick and gloopy with no taste, the onion bhajis were tasteless too and were old and definitely not fresh, and the garlic naan had barely seen a tandoor or oven. Bland and doughy. Extremely disappointing. Never again.

We have used Stubbington Tandoori several times since we found it during lockdown. Each time we had excellent food. Tonight we feel that either the management or the chef has changed as the food was most disappointing to say the least. All the sauces were lacking in flavour and seemed to be made chiefly out of tomato and onion with no distinctive flavour and very little meat. The sag aloo which formally was unctuous with lots of ghee was dry and tasteless. Even the chappati were stolid and tasteless. We will, unfortunately not be using this place EVER again.

Had a Chicken Madras takeaway. Excellent Curry, friendly and good service.

Always go here but now under new management. Curry was average but peshwari naan was inedible - wasn’t freshly made - looked as though it had been sat there for days.

Thought you were supposed to have sauce with chicken Korma, very very dry

I ordered this evening and my chicken tikka starter was missing from a relatively small order. The chips smelt odd and were very bland and strange tasting which is fair enough as its hardly indian cuisine but the chicken was soft and rubbery in my chicken tikka masalla and the pilau rice had alot of cinnamon or something very hot which completely dominated the dish. Garlic naan was stretchy and tasteless. Been here 3 times and lesson learnt for us unfortunately

Quiet simply, the best we've ever had. Easy to order, great value, fantastic food every time. The delivery person is prompt, friendly and food arrives in a travel box to keep it warm and secure. Highly recommended

Great food. My husband and I have always enjoyed the food here and I can honestly say we have never been disappointed or had a 'bad' meal. Sadly now only operating as a take away (2022)...but the food is still excellent, staff are friendly and helpful, well worth placing an order. Really important to support our local businesses, especially nowadays or we may loose them for good !

Writing on behalf of Delia & Rob Pascoe and of course myself 🙂 We have always used this Indian, and we have never had any problems. Will always remember this restaurant as it’s also my grandads favourite too. He has spent many birthdays here! Would recommend to anyone who would like to try a new Indian! To friends and family. The most friendly staff and nothing is ever to much.

Our old faithful Indian takeaway had gone downhill so we tried Stubbington Tandoori this evening and are so glad we did! Delivery was quick and the food was beautiful. Would 100% recommend for a night in!

Ordered take away today.our first since living in stubbington. Wasn't disappointed as it was yummy 😋 will definitely go there again.cant wait for restaurant to open.

Husband and I ordered takeaway and food was basically inedible. Got chicken korma and peshwari naan- absolutely would not describe what we received as a korma and the naan was extremely dry and stale. Would not recommend and will not be ordering from here again

I had a Terrible experience on New Year’s Eve with this curry house.Ordered takeaway at 18:25 it arrived at 21:30!! I was told it would arrive at 19:20 which I accepted as it was nye I phoned 18 times between 19:40-20:30 with no answer from the restaurant just a voice mail option to leave a message so I couldn’t even ask how long the order would be or any form of update available .At 20:30 I decided to eat something from home as two hours waiting and no contact from restaurant left me uncertain that we would even receive the food ! At 21:30 the food arrived which we turned away due to the fact we had now eaten and had no contact with restaurant and it had been 3hrs from ordering !!Phoned restaurant who decided to pick the phone up now to discuss the order and explain why we had turned food away and that a refund would need to be arranged . To be told no refund and also no apology.Do not order takeaway from this curry house if you are hungry or want it the same night ! And don’t expect any good customer service ..

We haven’t tried this restaurant for a few years so we thought we’d have a takeaway delivered as a change from our usual place we use in Lee. Being New Year’s Eve it took a while to get through, but the member of staff who took the order was very polite and advised that it could be 90 minutes for the food to be delivered. It actually turned up in under an hour, everything was as ordered and the food was delivered piping hot. I tried Shahi chicken (with a bit of a bite) and it was delicious, as was my wife’s Chicken Tikka Biriany. The mushroom rice had more mushrooms in it than our usual place and the onion Bhajis and garlic naan bread were equally tasty. All in all a very enjoyable meal and slightly cheaper than our usual restaurant. Would certainly use them again.

As always excellent food, service and prices. We have been visiting this restaurant for 30 years and will continue to do so. The staff are fantastic. Always very polite and great to talk to. Our waiter Ash was very friendly. Even during these difficult times the restaurant has maintained a excellent standard. With social distancing and is a safe place to visit.We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Last week we ordered a delivery through Uber Eats , we didn’t know the card linked to Uber Taxi would be linked so we were charged and then paid cash on delivery too. We waited 3 hours for delivery , one dish was missing so after numerous calls the final dish was delivered at 9.30, order was placed at 5.30 pm.We contacted the restaurant about the double charge and unacceptable delivery time the manager was apologetic and said we can have 20% off on next order and a credit for the double charge , so tonight we ordered again , £53 order , they took off the £30 we paid extra last week but no discount applied.Anyway I don’t mind that but they missed an item again!( onion bhajii ) which we paid for and didn’t get!Absolutely unacceptable service,put someone in the kitchen to check food before it goes out. Will never use again!

Used twice for deliveries during lockdown, quickly delivered, excellent quality. Best curries I’ve had since working for P&O. Highly recommend.

We have previously eaten at Stubbington Tandoori and enjoyed our meals. As we couldn't go out for for my wife's Birthday during lockdown, we ordered a takeaway which they also delivered. The food was still hot and the order correct. Both our back gardens guests and we thought the food was excellent.

I called up and stated I was vegan, the person on the phone was very helpful and said that many dishes could be cooked without ghee. I ordered a lovely vegetable biryani, popadoms, vegetable samosas and onion bahjis, all vegan, obviously! They delivered 3 miles to Fareham, which was brilliant, as I was having no luck with Indian Takeaways in Fareham! Will definitely order from here again!

This was the first time I have used this takeaway, I’ve been eating curry for over 20 years - I have to say that the telephone manner of the this establishment was one of the most polite I have ever encountered - similarly the delivery driver broke the mould in terms of his appearance and friendliness. The food, wow, was delivered on time, was correct, was hot, and was absolutely delicious - I actually finished off the lot! Would definitely recommend and use again. Well done .

Good food basically a lot of sauce but not much meat . Service really let's the place down . We were only ones there but staff member was just leaning on bar as though he did not want to be there .didnt even offer to get us a drink had to call him to ask if we could have a drink and order . Did not write order down we asked for onion barjees but they never arrived .

Ordered 2 Kormas with boiled rice. Well I think the rice held more water than the Hoover Dam. The sauce couldn't be more tasteless and bland if it tried. Shockingly bad. Avoid like the plague.

Efficient but I asked for 'medium' and got really mild.

Great takeaway and restaurant if ordering late ensure you ask for cornflakes with your meal as it will more than likely be breakfast time when it's ready

Initially difficult to find, but well worth it in the end. Only had takeaways from there, and enjoyed the meals immensely. Recommend them to anyone who wants good tasty Indian food at a reasonable price.

Exellent takeaway, food all freshly cooked. Sadly a sharing meal so had to tone down on the heat. Next time! Never had a bad meal or takeaway here. Surprised to see alcohol no longer served but you can take your own with no corkage charged (supermarket and off licence within two minute walk)

Stubbington TandooriVisiting friends in Stubbington we found on-line ‘Stubbington Tandoori’ with a good looking menu and saw that diners are invited to take their own alcoholic drinks. What a good idea!So with a couple of bottles of good value wine from the near by off licence we went to the restaurant but found they were full, as early as 7PM. They must be doing something right!The reception was excellent and after a few polite words they agreed to phone us when they could make a table for 4 available. They don’t have space for waiting.Carrying our bottles of wines into a near-by pub was a bit strange but we got pre-dinner drinks, and waited for the phone call to return to Stubbington Tandoori.We had a really good experience with friendly service, top quality Indian food from the extensive well priced menu and our own good value wine. NOTHING ELSE NEEDS TO BE SAID, except it is definitely worth a visit. We hope to return sometime, but its over 300 miles away.PSIT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO BOOK!

We've been coming here & having take aways from here for years & have never had a bad experience.Prices are very reasonable, you can take your own booze now as they don't have a liqueur licence. We love the fish curries. You won't regret coming here so give it a go

We have been visiting here as a family for many years and we have never been disappointed. The food is consistently outstanding and the workers are welcoming and polite. Easily a 5 star and would definitely recommend.

In all honesty, I love my Indian food so visit quite a few restaurants over a year, but here is one I hadn't been to for nearly 25years+ as there are so many nearer to my previous home (I moved house last week).So, a Saturday night takeaway was an essential after a stressful week of removals. And what a super surprise. Food of the highest standard, full of flavours, packed with meats, side dishes offering delicious alternative tastes, and plenty in a portion. It actually fed me the next day too, equally as tasty. I would score a 5, but having just re-found the establishment, I need to try other dishes that are in our list of favourites in order to gain a better appreciation of how good the place and food is. Chicken tikka massalla and lamb tikka vindaloo were our mains, and both were excellent as were the starters of onion Bhajis (best I've tasted) & sides of Bombay aloo and mushroom bhaji plus naan. I WILL be eating there again soon!

I base every curry house on the same dishes, dansak, onion bhaji, tikka masala, meal tasted fresh but tikka was average and sandal, which should be sweet, sour and hot, was just sweet and disappointing. Good service though, and bhaji was one if the best I've had, not too greasy and crispy. Chicken was a tad dry too. I'll try it again and ammend if necessary.

Ordered a takeaway to be collected at 5.45, food still being cooking on arrival, which means it's freshly prepared and not just warmed up. Although I only waited 10 minutes I was offered a complimentary drink while I was waiting, declined as I was driving but was given a bottle of Kingfisher to take with me, nice touch. Food as always very tasty. Karahi chicken is a medium dish, very tasty with big chunks of onion and peppers. Shahi chicken is medium with a bite to it, particularly if you bite into one of the chillies!! How do they get the Pilau rice so fluffy? Mushroom rice is my favourite, very tasty with plenty of mushrooms.

He pedido llevar alrededor de una vez cada 8 semanas. Siempre es bueno. Tengo uno de los platos calientes con arroz pilau, ajo y salsa de menta naan. Muy a menudo ponen en ensalada y poppadoms. El pan de ajo es especialmente buena con el ajo todo. Buen servicio, personal agradable. Las instalaciones siempre limpias y luminosas. Continuará hacer uso de ellos.

Hemos usado este lugar para una comida para llevar más de 20 años y nunca he tenido una mala hasta hace poco. El chef ha cambiado y nos hemos dado unos intentos, pero la comida no está a su nivel habitual, nos quejamos y recibido una comida gratis la próxima vez que pedí pero temo y siento triste que no se usan nunca hasta que cambiar de cocinero.

Esta noche hemos tenido una comida en este restaurante, en ese momento, sabía bien, pero había un desconocido, tang. . . . . . . . . . A las 2 horas., todos estábamos sensación que me podía beber litros de agua! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Todavía estamos despiertos a las 04 - 00 horas, y así son nuestros amigos. . . . . . . . Este es porque los consumidores no son regulares, pero la comida rápida, estos síntomas y parece extraño. . . . . . . . . . Haga sus propios decisiones.

Este no es mi local indio, pero local de mis padres, así cuando voy allí siempre nos dan comida para llevar desde aquí. Es fantástico. Muy amable, limpio y el servicio es fantástico.

We use the takeaway service at The Stubbington Tandoori and it is brilliant. Hot fresh food, ready when they say and great quality. I would recommend a couple of dishes but you really can't go wrong for consistency of quality and tastiness. A great deal of it seems very traditional Indian style food. Ordering early for a tea time pick up or later is all fine. Generally they ask you to pick up within half an hour of the order being put in giving you chance to grab a beverage or two at the off license 3 doors down and pick up a great meal.

Great food but on some week days the service is a bit erratic as not the usual staff!!! So you get drinks in the wrong glasses and don't get the rest of the bottle!!!!

We have just moved to the area so thought we would try the restaurant. The food is lovely and very polite staff. We will definitely return.

First time here for me. In a group of 10, some had been here before so knew the menu was like.Service was not the fastest as we had to ask several times for drinks. Menu has all the usuals. Some of us went for the Stubbington Massala special which is really good value. The food was excellent and full of flavour.Drinks were reasonably priced. On the whole very good value. Would definitely eat here again.

We live locally to the Stubbington Tandoori so have always ordered takeaway from there. I have always found the food acceptable and the delivery generally slow, but with no real alternative nearby, we have always just accepted the food and service for what it is.I ordered a takeaway last week and the food took almost two hours to arrive, despite the fact we were told it would take 45 minutes. We phoned twice to find out where it was; the first time we called, we were told our delivery was being packed up there and then and would be with us within 10 mins. 30 mins later, still nothing. Again we were told it was on its way and it still took another 20 mins to arrive. I was so hungry at this point we accepted the delivery, although I was tempted to tell them to cancel it, there was no apology and no offer of discount.To add insult to injury they missed one of the dishes off the order (even though we paid for it) and the food was cold. I resorted to heating up what we had received in the oven and bulking out the meal with microwave rice I had in the cupboard! I definitely will not use this takeaway again, and am happy to have discovered that a far superior restaurant nearby now delivers. They will now receive my custom.

Really good Indian food, generous portions, and a wide selection of menu items. Love the new decor, very tasteful and makes eating there a pleasure. The staff are always helpful and will cook special dishes if you ask first. Highly recommended.

We use this restaurant for both eating in and take away. The food is always of a high standard and is always ready when they say it will be. We have had no issues with service when eating in and have always found the staff to be hard working, attentive and courteous.

Deciding we really didn't want to go out Saturday evening we decided to order in a takeaway from Stubbington Tandoori restaurant. After working out which meals I could have due a garlic allergy we waited for it to arrive, and waited. 1hour and 15 minutes later (10 minutes longer than told so not too bad) the anticipated knock at the door and an apologetic owner stood there with our piping hot meal. They had to cook everything from scratch to avoid cross contamination with the other garlic containing curry sauces. The meal was excellent, naan bread was lovely and tasty, plain boiled rice but that was more than compensated for with the sauces provided with the main courses. The mushroom starter was divine, and overall a lovely meal which we thoroughly enjoyed.Would recommend this restaurant either as an eat in or a takeaway. Thursday is an all you can eat night and again is excellent value for money.

Went with the misses for the buffet on a week day evening. Good choice of food and plenty of it. As much as you liked in fact!! All cooked to order and served with a smile. And best of all for around a tenner each!! Loved it :0)

Quality of food and service both excellent. This small restaurant was rated by my brother, an extremely widely travelled Brit/Canadian/US citizen, as possibly the best Indian restaurant in his experience.

After asking 3 times during a phone order if it came with salad (which they ensured it did) It was delivered undercooked and pink with no receipt, and no salad. Charged for salad and various other things which again was not delivered and no care when I phone up to explain. Terrible!!!! Much better Indian cuisines in the area.
