Im assuming this is the stour cafe 258 Kingsland Road, and if not then thats what I'm talking about! Amazing coffee and the best bacon sarnie Ive ever eaten. Had in back in early December. Sour dough bread, butter, amazing meat and brown sauce - it was just brilliant. The bread was ace too. Great chef!

Stumbled upon this lovely art space while visiting Porsche Out Eat in adjacent streets. Great coffee & brunch. Prepared fresh to order so expect to wait while you soak in the great view of Olympic Park & the canal.

Great location overlooking the canal. Do friendly too. The service was good if slightly rushed but it was quite busy. Bean burger was excellent as was the homemade coleslaw. The only disappointment is that they had run out of tomato juice for their famous Bloody Mary

Great little venue carved out of a old warehouse on the side of the river. Seating outside makes for a relaxing time no matter what your doing there. The menu is awesome with a good selection of coffee or teas. Get the kimchi fries , you won’t be disappointed

This cafe was recommended as a good place to stop for refreshments in one of the ‘London’s Hidden Walks’ books. Arrived just after 4 to see the last piece of cake being purchased by the person ahead of us in the queue. Never mind. We settled for 2 cups of Yorkshire Tea and a seat by the canal. Nice strong tea and pleasant location spoilt by the surly service. A couple of tips: Cold milk with tea, not hot. Greet your customers pleasantly and try smiling once in a while - they might smile back!

Menu promises gluten free options. When we arrived and tried to order they didn’t have anything in. Very poor when my girlfriend has an allergy. We had made a special journey to come here and won’t be back! Advise to Stour space: “If you advertise it on you menu make sure you have it available!” Having said that it’s a nice place to have a coffee in a nice setting. But would avoid food.

I go past this place every morning on my commute so wanted to visit for ages, and it didn't disappoint. The best thing is the canalside location, and you can sit out to watch the swans serenely going by. The food was decent but it was a touch pricey for what it was. There's a nice small art / photography displays to pass your time on a Saturday morning too. Would definitely go back!

I have been visiting and bringing others to this cafe for 8 years now and yes it has changed owners in that time but the last visit this weekend gone was disappointing as very little cake to choose from on the "open counter" no covers over them as there used to be. We asked for some cream to go on the cake but told not available... we had our coffee and hot chocolate and left, sadly no reason to return but they do have an amazing floating pontoon on the canal which is unique. Both staff members we engaged with the counter person and the waitress were pleasant and friendly.

After half an hour of order, and watching another’s table who arrived after us get their food before us. After inquiring they tried to pass it off as if they haven’t go forgotthe order just told us it was next (followed by waitress obvisouly running in a rush order at the kitchen) But that wasn’t annoying. The other thing was. After ordering the pancakes with honey comb, it arrived without honey comb. I enquired, and it turned out the kitchen had run out of honey comb and sentence it out anyway, hoping I wouldn’t notice. When I called this out as a bit odd and certainly wrong, the waitress didn’t apologise at any stage, no ones did. When I asked for a refund on the incomplete pancake dish they acted very weird, and made a point of making me feel uncomfortable

Sargeant's Mess is a British restaurant just in front of the Tower of London and adjacent to Tower Bridge. Created by celebrity chef Mark Sargeant, the restaurant serves unmemorable food in a fairly bland atmosphere buttressed by one of the most spectacular locations in London. The food concept behind Mess is to offer traditional British fare at a high quality. Frankly, it is just average. The food is the weakpoint of the restaurant. The concept just seems to have fallen away with for instance the only vegetarian dish in the main course even using the American name Mac N Cheese. It is ok but it is just macaroni cheese so there's a clear ceiling to how good it can be. A large part of the menu is burgers. Not exactly traditional British fare. The vegetarian burger was not bad because it had an avocado in it. Otherwise not the kind of a quality a specialist upmarket provider might generate. Dessert options are fairly limited though the Eton Mess is ok. Service was not that great unfortunately. The faux accent was jarring in its articulation. Chips as an accompaniment to a burger were served without question as to whether a condiment could be offered then an over the top response was generated to a question asking whether such a thing could be provided. Price is high considering the fare. The location does demand a price like that but the food does not. Sargeant just has failed to generate interesting eating. One real shame for a December lunch was that it turned out the Christmas menu was not on offer. It was a real disappointment and made the whole place feel like a let-down. The plus is absolutely the magnificent location. Nestling in the shadow of the Tower and next to Tower Bridge the views are incredible. Looking out at the Thames is beautiful here although the number of window seats is quite small. However, going outside while waiting for food for instance offers a terrific perspective on some of London's finest buildings. Admittedly it is perfectly possible just to walk along the Thames and get the same view. Sargeant's Mess is ultimately a disappointment. The food is flavourless and too simple. Nothing interesting about it at all. No creativity or flair. The price reflects the location and so is too much for the quality of the eating. Service is not great and it was such a shame to find the menus advertised on the website did not exist in reality. The plus is the magnificent location, one of the very best anywhere in London.

Awful salad hardly any grains, mainly kale, had to ask for basic dressing and the extra hallouni I paid for was 4 tiny squares. Worst sad I've had in any place. Frienfs said welsh rarebit very average.Plus had to ask for printed bill then saw overcharged and don't take cash! Won't be going there again.
