Costa Coffee in Tower Hamlets

Great staff and products but very grubby furniture. Toilets dirty. Very dark as the light bulbs are 50% not working. Worst franchise I've encountered.

A comedy of errors. Ordered to dine in. Some items served as dine in, some as takeaways). Ordered a Latte - preferred syrup not available. Cake - stale. Seating area, randomly strewn with abandoned trollies; broke cupboards; large picture frames; step ladders; plastic crates; outdoor parasols; and freestanding aircon units (not in use). To top it all off - ‘literally’ not a capable member of the team on shift. Like the two-soups sketch by Victoria Wood.

Angelika refused to toast my tuna melt!! Because I was a too good to go customer. I still paid for my food which there was a very poor selection off. She rudely decline to toast it because apparently it was busy but it was clearly not busy and she probably just didn’t want to lift her weight.

Rude staff, couldn’t notice her name because the tag was hidden behind a head cover. No WiFi

The staff were friendly, we didn't need to wait long to get our coffee. There were enough spaces to drink and enjoy the food and drinks. Amazing experience.

Unfortunately, I had a very bad situation with a veiled employee. She took the gift, which was the cake, and the employee took part of it unlawfully, and this thing offends the Costa Group.

A large Costa outlet with seating spread over two floors inside, and plenty more tables outside in the square. Efficient and friendly service, two toilets and wi-fi available. I loved the toasted halloumi and vegetable sandwich.

Everything you would expect from a Costa. With the added extra of one of the worst lavatories I have ever encountered (Don't think it had seen a clean for a looking time) The other one was out of order too.

Very difficult to find somewhere to sit with many people not even purchasing drinks. I’ve tried to get sit in this branch on multiple occasions. Staff seemed extremely shocked when I wanted to pay by cash and was annoyed that he had to reset the payment option.

This Costa in Spitalfields was a total dump. Dirty old furniture, filthy chairs - The toilets stank, with paper and fluid on floors. I am surprised they are even allowed to open - Unbelievable that they have passed any hygiene visits from inspections!

Standard good costa but not perfect so 4 stars, which is quite good really just not outstanding. The edge of the blueberry muffin is actually fallen off but when I took the pic I was thinking of instagram so I deliberately cut off the not good looking edge of that muffin. Soya Milk Latte tasted slightly overheated but it is technically on me as I haven't tried enough soya latte and should probably try soya flat white next time. Mocha and cinnamon bun is good but not outstanding. There was empty seat in a Sat afternoon and it's overall quiet so it's to our liking. one seat cushion have a unappealing stain which is bit disappointing. The lighting is also a bit funny, some lights off and some on, maybe it's a issue with some light bulbs? (See Pics) Toliet is clean. All good but some tiny faults.

The place is dark, cold and dirty. The staff need to listen to the customer and not be in their mobile phone. Costa, needs to refurbish this place.

The staff were disorganised and I had to wait for quite some time. Then, the actual drinks were terrible (a flat white and a chai latte). They were tasteless and the barista overfilled them so much that they spilled before being put on the tray. The staff also kept the door open so it was very cold inside.

Very good and strong coffee. Very delicious hot chocolate. Very nice service. I recommend going there for a coffee if you're in the area. moderate prices.

The food is good as it's delivered to the coffee shops. But the staff here is not friendly, doesn't listen to what you say and looked annoyed that I asked where to put dirty dishes from the free table that I found. Overall not very clean Costa branch. Only came in as spitafields was packed. Use this branch as last resort.

Filthy, stained seats and floor. The loo was also dirty, bin overflowing and paper on the floor. The door to the kitchen was open and letting out strong smelling cigarette smoke into the cafe. Wouldn’t go back.

Toilets absolutely gross. Yes, it's a busy location. So you need to spend some of that revenue on a cleaner.

We bought coffees and two cakes. And asked for a knife as we were sharing them. The barrista took out two dirty knives from the dishwasher and handed them to me. They were clearly used and had cake and coffee marks on them. No apology when I said they had not been washed. He silently gave me two plastic ones instead. Things like that happen and itight have been a genuine mistake, but admitting it and saying sorry wouldn't hurt in such a case!

Staff are a mixed bag. One making the coffee was very rude and didn't even look up to shove the coffee at the collection point. Noticeably rude. Till staff are fine.

Fine place to work in. But not for too long. It is quite messy and noisy.

Lazy and attitude customer service from Rubiat and another lady with headscarf. Visited 3/3/23 - 13:30. Speaking in your language about customers isn't professional, especially when youre not aware the customer knows what you are saying about them.

Great cafe to eat in or take away. Plenty of seating and never too busy as it's slightly off the main thoroughfare.

Cozy place with good WiFi connection.

This cafe is one of the saddest places one can go to. The service is ok but the food on offer is rank. The croissant we got was from a newly opened box. So it's not made there or delivered on the day it was packed and stored there. The coffee was not good as well but the large size. I had flat white which was the size of three proper flat whites. When I saw it I knew it would not be nice. I would definitely avoid this place.

I come here almost every morning before I go too work and it's a very consistent costa here. The manager is always very welcoming and organised within himself and the team. The team is also great and keeps up amazing standards to a good coffee at the start of the day. Thank you for always being great guys

Good service, and a cute little location, plus I really like the layout. However the toilets are horrible, the bin looks like it’s never seen a cloth and the soap was a horrible slimy texture that barely foamed up. I have really bad sensory issues especially with toilets and I felt really uncomfortable afterwards. They just need a good clean.

Coffee was all right. They really need some air conditioning in the customer's seating area upstairs.

Wifi is always garbage, not enough plugs, and AC was broken this time. Its a shame because this Costa has one of the better opening times and seating layouts.

It's a standard Costa. It's big with loads of seating. However, the WiFi is total trash. Do not come her if you plan to set up to do some work for a bit - you'll be pulling your hair out at how slow and skittish the wifi connection is!

Coffee was tasty and staff was friendly.

Wonderful staff but the management should provide air conditioning in the building. The staff are working hard and the place is warm most of the time. In the summer it’s totally unfair on the staff. Please think about them.

Costa coffee is quite consistent across its branches. This one gets five stars for friendly staff, and because I got to see some old friends there.

Lovely spot, just off-street and away from busy Bishopsgate. The perfect place for a coffee.

Went there today with my other 3 friends like 20min before they closed, and was served by the most kindest and genuine guy who told me his name was Artiom. As someone who has experience from working in retail, I know how annoying it is when you have customers coming in right before closing and ask if they can sit down inside, Artiom made us feel welcomed and not rushed to leave asap just because they were about to close. He was warm and inviting, and made us feel like we were more than random customer's there. Thank you Artiom! We will definitely be coming back if we're gonna be in the area again.

Bit busy just before the 9am working day start, but decent amount of sitting space and fast service when lockdowns aren't a factor.

For that early morning (06.45) mug of coffee and bacon roll, there is no where better. It is next door to work.

We grabbed a coffee here a few weeks back and hand to point out to the lady serving that the cakes were covered in flies, she huffed at me and said " now I have to throw them away"...as if it were my fault ! She then got rid of them, everyone in the que said they were happy I mentioned it. We sat down to drink our coffee, all tables were full of dirty cups etc and food waste everywhere , we cleaned our own table and carried on. We noticed a food stain and gave it a name..."old red"...for obvious reasons . We went back...believe it or not as we do like the coffee..a few days later and sat at the same table..and there was...yes youve got it.."old red". That was a sign of the hygiene there and needless to say our last visit there. The owners will not care as the area is sooooo busy they will simply carry on the same...shame . On another note...the new coffees are good.

I love this store. I always find the staff to be friendly and willing to help. I get coffee very often but I tried one of their cakes the other day. Goodness me it was tasty (and fresh)!

I love Costa, I prefer it over Starbucks any time. Loved the Cappuccino, I also like the cookies they do. The cafe is not too small, it has some seatings also upstairs amd generally soeaking is quite aesthetically pleasing. Love the position of this in particular too. The workers were really nice too, even though the cafe was pretty busy, so I appreciate it a lot. Really lovely overall!

Great place to have a relaxing break from work!

This branch is very disappointing due to the service. Certain young staff don’t make the limited edition hot chocolates properely. They forget to add the whip cream, or sprinkle and even the sauce. We don’t pay for nothing. Number of times a young guy forgot to put whip cream on, only when I pointed it out he changed it. The straight faces they make after and don’t even apologise. And please, before you say it’s. A small mistake, they do that with other customers all the time and it’s not even busy. Another lady didn’t add the sprinkle on top. I said, were you not suppose to put the sprinkles on top? She responded we don’t have to, then put it on, no apology whatsoever. I need to make sure I raise the level of unprofessionalism here, because if you guys are marketing these hot chocolates and Costa staff don’t follow them, then what’s the point? Either lower the price or get rid of them. Terrible.

Did a mobile order thinking I can go straight in after 10mins and my drink will be ready. Guess what, even for mobile order I had to queue up on the normal queue. I really don't see the point of mobile order then. I experienced same issue in Holborn branch. Costa you have lost the plot. This particular branch (Spitalfields) was dirty. Flies everywhere. Their tables and chairs needs proper cleaning. I ordered caramel latte. Once my drink was handed over to me, the cup was sticky. It's the caramel syrup. This has happened number of occasions. Barista needs to take extra care to make sure cup is clean.

You should absolutely adopt Starbucks' system with names on the cups and type of coffee and extras. Currently it's so chaotic during lunchtimes, baristas cannot possibly remember all the coffees pending and have to double and triple check with the cashiers and customers. There are customers waiting up to 10 min for their coffees because the system is faulty.

Lovely hot chocolate but the cafe is full of flies. Both round the tables and behind the counter. There is obviously a serious infestation that the management need to deal with asap.

Full of flies in this store, clearly there are hygeine issues as the menu on the wall is infested with the remains of dead flies and theres also a stench in the store. Shocking conditions for a shop that serves open food.

Great location and nice coffee but service sometimes feels a bit strenuous.

The staff whose name is Liliane is very rude. She prepared our order wrong and after that she shouted at us, to me and my wife. I wish Costa can educate their people in a good way and teach them to NOT shout at customers. Also I am waiting a call/reply from Costa about this issue.

Cuando conseguir un chocolate caliente, olvidé mencionar para agregar soja. Le pregunté a la señora que lo hacía si podía agregar soja y me gritó que no tenía mi pedido (se equivocaron, se hizo un medio en lugar de pequeño) y luego suspiró y dijo "¿qué quieres? “Mi amiga tuvo que pedirle que no nos hablara con esa actitud. El servidor luego gritó que nos estaba gritando debido al ruido (sin embargo, sus colegas hablaban y no nos gritaban), esto no excusó su mala actitud. Ella fue extremadamente grosera y le preguntamos por qué seguía siendo grosera con nosotros, luego gritó y dijo que estaba devolviendo nuestro pedido. Preguntamos por el gerente y aparentemente ella era la gerente, ¡estaba tan sorprendida por el servicio que estaba experimentando! La señora a mi lado pensó que su orden estaba mezclada con la nuestra y le dije que no, que el servidor solo estaba siendo grosero, entonces el gerente gritó "¡no hablen de mí! ¡No hables de mí! ¡Me sentí tan amenazada y como si estuviera a punto de pelear conmigo! ! ! ¡Entonces recuperé mi dinero por un reembolso que nunca pedí y tuve que abandonar la humillante experiencia! Raramente va costa pero definitivamente no volveré a ir.

Love Costa. Their coffee is cheaper and bigger than others. Delicious range of sandwiches and sweat treats. My fav is the millionaires shortbread (caramel slice). This shop in particular u was happy to stumble across as there was a free outdoor dance performance happening just outside the window on a Sunday afternoon. It's triple level with some tables and 1 toilet being wheelchair accessible

Our family are Costa lovers and this is the best store in London. The management is nothing but exceptional. The store is very clean, the staff is very friendly and professional, coffees are of great quality and the service is quick. The manager has an amazing memory and a very nice person. Highly recommend!
