Highly recommend. Food was absolutely delicious (snail toast is a must try). The service was impeccable, the staff were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. They were also very knowledgable about the menu.

Extremely poor food for the price, essentially a tourist trap, but at least I burnt more calories than I consumed chewing the steak. Don’t serve steak that blue if the cut can’t handle it… and season the steak not just the sauce. Frites were inedible due to excessive salt. If you can’t get steak frites right then best of luck to you…

Excellent!! I was looking for a great meal for our last night in London. I found this amazing little restaurant, the chicken was amazing tender, and juicy. The artichoke salad was really good The fried artichokes on top was the best part. Steak frites were perfectly cooked. The summer quiche was very good. Had a couple glasses of house wine were well-matched with our food. The staff was really good and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend the restaurant, my teenage kids loved the food as well.

A really disappointing experience. Booked a table for 2 for a friends 40th birthday. First frustration was the seating. I booked a table for two and we were put on counter seating in the window looking out to the street sitting next to each other. We went for the Sirloin on the bone which was sold hard by the waiter. It took 30-35 minutes to arrive and when it eventually arrived it literally tasted of nothing. When you’re selling a steak for around £100 it’s got to be amazing. I had a better steak from the supermarket earlier in the week. Add to this, my friends fries were burnt and when he used his fork to eat them they shattered across the plate. Waiter asked us how the food was and we were honest. He walked away and another person came over without saying actually who he was and just said “hi can I help”. All very confusing. Turns out he was the sommelier. We told him our frustrations. No hint of an apology and then suggested we have dessert. No thanks. When I booked they asked if it was a special occasion and I told them it was but they made no effort to do anything so I’m not sure why they even asked. We paid the bill and left. With so many other restaurant options in the area I’d suggest going somewhere else. Don’t go here for a special occasion.

Stellar food, warm buzzing upscale atmosphere that's even better if you sit at the bar to watch the chefs work their magic. Lemon posset soft serve was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. Half rotisserie chicken was great. Asparagus soup was good but I have a hunch there are better things on the menu. Staff is mindful about allergies and dietary restrictions, they ask all tables and I heard them making adjustments for a few other guests.

This is another restaurant opened by the team of Restaurant Story. Right in the middle of Soho seven dials area. Gives a feel of a cosy French style bistro. Very cool place and has a great service. Great ambiance and service / we sat at the bar stools And watched the chefs in action which was great experience. Started with an old fashioned cocktail which was decent and followed by some oysters / asparagus and tuna. Oysters were fresh and asparagus was soft and beautifully made. Tuna was excellent too. Everything went well with Gussbourne blanc de blanc. For the mains we shared the rotisserie chicken and steak with fries / salad. It was all all amazing / well cooked delicious and tasty. The steak sauce was mouth watering. Overall a 5/5 experience Budget - meal for 2 is easily 200 ( drinks are slightly on the expensive side / almost the prices of Michelin restaurants )

Came here on my own for a mid evening dinner. I’m local and it’s been here a while and I’ve not visited. The interior is modern tiled black and white floor and a bar area that runs around the kitchen. I was pleasantly met and guided to my table. I ordered a Weiner Schnitzel, fries and a salad. It came after the sort of delay you would expect of something freshly cooked. It was well cooked and flavoursome. The service was on point, to the extent that I ran out of tomato sauce (I was going to not worry) and someone brought some over. I finished with bread and butter pudding, which was nice in flavour, but lacked the crispy finish that fresh out of the oven B+B pudding can . All in all a good meal, with great service. I will be back!

came in and ordered the half rotisserie chicken. service was great and dish came out super speedy! chicken was wonderful - so tender, so juicy, so flavourful. salad also great. chips left a little to be desired, but still good. only thing is the price - £36 including service (already printed on the receipt)…. for half a chicken…. which is really just one breast and one leg. it’s a little much. wouldn’t come back, but glad i came for the experience.

I picked Story Cellar because it had a cute name and was pretty empty. We were seated in the window at what felt like kiddy seats. We should have left, but we had just arrived in London and were tired and hungry. Our meals (cod cheeks) were small and greasy. We weren't impressed. Fortunately, we found many other places to enjoy in England.

Was disappointed with the limited menu available at Sunday lunch time. Ordered all the small plates instead of the roast but they weren’t great. They weren’t really stand alone things to eat, it was just stuff to put on bread. Service was great and location is brilliant but the ambience was a bit dead. We’ve been to Story Cellar four times in the last 6 months and enjoyed each of our visits immensely. The staff has been great, but specifically Pedro has served us the last 3 occasions and he is simply one of the best humans I’ve ever met. He has a passion for the food, wine and service along with a great understanding of how to connect with guests and make them feel comfortable. The food has been great each time, with the Burrata, Rillettes, and Pork Chop main being a particular favorite. The rice pudding and bread pudding are wonderful follow-ups to a great meal. The food is decent, not great, not poor, but acceptable. The price for this English riff on French bistro fare is not good value for money. Given how casual the service is, how close the tables are and the awful clangy tourist fuelled acoustics, your money would be better spent at Casse-Croute on Bermondsey street eating something more authentic, and cheaper. Possibly effective as a tourist trap, this is Covent Garden after all. Strong avoid for Europeans and local Londoners.

Not a story worth telling ! starters came 10mins apart, which meant carbonara got cold by the time tuna tartare landed on the table. bread to share was not served before the starters and it was quite hard . On the mains the pork was cold by the time it left the grill and arrived on our table as it was sitting in the corner all the time, because cooked well in advanced ! better schnitzels are available in German market , just in case anyone fancy eating it . Overall not worth it and wasted our birthday celebrations , so we left without ordering desserts . By the way chips and salad was nice , no complaints .

*** This was the most expensive worst meal we had in London. *** Here's what we ordered... 1. Tuna Tartar - wow, it was much too salty, and not fresh at all, a bad start 2. "Hand-dived" scallop - at 16 quid a pop, you expect a large, fresh, tasty scallop, right? Nope. Each individual scallop tiny, cut into 3 little pices and was quite chewy and bland. The scallop sauce that came with it was tasty though. To say we felt ripped is the understatement of the century. 3. Wild garlic soup with creme fraiche - this was watery, unexpectedly green and quite tasteless. 4., Spring quiche - served cold, overpoweringly cheesy, no hint of leek 5. Roasted courgette - it was a mess of a side. Texture was off, didn't taste fresh, the dressing was bland, we left half of it The only bright moment was the House Pickles. We left quite a lot of food uneaten and nobody asked if there was a problem.

Beautiful setting, in the middle In Covent Garden. Service is very friendly, not intrusive and knowledgeable. Second visit, lots of seasonal dishes and British produce showcase. My started of wild garlic soup was light and a good start to the meal. The main attraction is the rotisserie chicken which, while flavoursome, was, in my view, close to being undercooked to the bone. The salad was fantastic but the chips actually quite average. They had run out of soft serve in the puddings so we didn’t try any.

Lovely ambience. Unpretentious and welcoming. Food is tasty enough but not as tasty as it is expensive (about £80 each for 2.5 courses each and no alcohol). At the prices charged, little things like the fries not coming till halfway through the main and condiments not coming at all are pretty disappointing. Our server was very apologetic and we were offered a free dessert or coffee, which is nice, but there was plenty of opportunity (one of the three times we asked) to fix things before then. But just a hiccup - worth a try if you're in the area. ETA: Worth noting they don't take Amex

On the plus side, our waitress did a good job juggling orders for people still to arrive. My companions said their food was ok, but I had a different experience. My £28 piece of mackerel (the cheapest fish in the sea - at the time of writing you could buy a complete fish in Tesco for £2.31) was the size of a playing card, was the last cut on the body - near the tail, and was ONE side of the fish only. I'd say there was a matchbox amount of meat on it. The worst thing was it was cremated. Burnt to a crisp. Black carbonized skin. And they served that? I returned it to the ususal half-meant apologies and forelock-tugging. It was replaced (at my request) by an amateur version of the French classic, Pork Cassoulet. The worst thing about the restaurant? It was freezing, absolutely baltic. Even the staff were commenting on it. The French Fries were ok.

It brings the high standards and exciting food you would expect of Restaurant Story into the heart of the West End. A bustling dining room, with counter dining surrounding the kitchen outputs a tasty, rich bistro menu with excellent service at a surprisingly affordable price point for this standard of cooking and this area if London. I especially recommend the snail Bolognese on toast - delicious - and the wonderfully sweet-sour lemon tart. I suspect they will be awarded a Michelin Star in the near future, so get in whilst you still can! Edit: having become a regular this is still an excellent place to go. The overall experience left much to be desired. While the restaurant's decor and atmosphere were impressive, unfortunately, that was the highlight of our visit. The service was disappointingly slow, and when our food finally arrived, it was served cold. We had to send back several side dishes and my pork cassoulet, which had piping hot beans but lukewarm pork, making it far from a proper cassoulet. Despite these issues, we decided to overlook these minor details and wait for the replacement pork dish. However, when it finally arrived, it was completely burnt on one side, rendering it inedible. At this point, I had no choice but to send it back again. In the meantjme the rest of our sides were served piping hot, as one would expect. When offered an alternative dish, I declined, as my friends had nearly finished their meals. To my surprise, the (presumed) restaurant manager chimed in, asserting that the pork was properly cooked. I was taken aback by his comment, as it seemed to imply that it was a matter of personal preference. When I asked if he had tasted the burnt portion of the pork, he admitted he had not and promptly disappeared. The items we sent back were removed from the bill, but we received no other gestures to salvage our dining experience. Overall, this was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences I've had in a long time. However, I must note that the escargot ragù is a standout dish worth trying, though I'm hesitant to recommend this restaurant to others.

We’re fans of rotisserie chicken and this was one of the best we’ve had in London (we still miss you, Hixter!). Service was pretty perfect too - attentive without being fussy. All this would be enough to earn the place 5 stars but for one thing: the wine list. No red wine under £50 a bottle is just silly. A decent sommelier should be able to source a drinkable house wine to be sold for £30 to £35. Or even offer BYO and charge £25 corkage.

We had a pretty good time here and got to taste some delicious food. My only disappointment is that we were seated at the bar even though we made a reservation several days ago. When we asked the waitress if we can sit at a table (because almost all restaurant was empty) she told us they re reserved but guess what, no one came

Words can't describe how perfect the experience was, warm and cozy. A spectacular service, just simply very in the ball as a team. A sommelier in top of his game and some of the best meat cookery I have ever experienced. A true treat

The perfect experience, impressive cooking, well curated wine list. Spectacular service and a great buzz. Chloe looked after us with a great finesse but the entire team was just very on the ball. Just go you won't regret it!

Probably the best chicken I’ve ever had. Recommend sitting at the bar so you can watch the chefs preparing everything.

Food was significantly overpriced for the quality, waiters were very rude and arrogant and the restaurant doesnt even botter turn on air conditioning or window in the middle of summer.

Good addition to the area. A casual, unpretentious, restaurant service above average food at reasonable prices. The roast peach salad was delicious, Snail Bolognaise rich and dense, the roast chicken (their speciality) was dry - good flavour but the breast meat was dry (several other people have mentioned this - so kit needs looking at ). The cassoulet was a light version, not too intense, and was welcome. The food star of the show was the strawberry trifle which was light, packed full of flavour and simple wonderful. The negroni was their own floral version which I really liked - the mixologist came and spoke to us about it when I asked - which was really nice. The star of the whole evening was Cora our server who was brilliant; intelligent, friendly, professional. A lovely restaurant which a relaxed friendly atmosphere - we'll be back soon.

I paid 1440 pounds for a 140 pound bill. Refund could take up to 10 days I’m told. Weirdly, they made me pay the correct amount afterward, rather than subtracting it from the refund. The food/experience was arguably overpriced even with the correct bill, but now being 1.5k down for the bank holiday weekend… I only regret coming here.

Very tasty food. The scallop was the standout dish. The seabass and lemon tart also notable mentions. Good service.

Arriving for our reservation we were shown to two bar stools. I asked if our reservation was not for a table and was told you cannot reserve tables -“first come first served”. So I asked for one of the tables we passed. The response was “those are reserved”. We walked out.

This is my go-to restaurant if I'm in Soho for the theatre. Excellent food, friendly staff and an ever-evolving menu. I particularly recommend the hot scallop XO, the snail Bolognese on toast, and the grilled peach salad.

Great Restaurant with superb dishes. We sat at the bar which was equally as enjoyable as sitting on the tables. Dishes are second to none when it comes to season, freshness and taste. Highly recommending the steak and fries and good cocktails too!

The food was pretty good - we enjoyed the chicken and salad. The service on the other hand could be better. The host’s service wasn’t as welcoming as we’d expect. The waiter serving our table was attentive but only catered to the men as if the opinion from women of the food didn’t matter. It happened a few times and that’s not pleasant.

Top drawer. So friendly, nosh first class, the brigade well drilled, great glassware (it's a thing for me) and a jewel in the area. My date gave ME a big kiss. What's not to love.

We dined this evening and had a wonderful time. We sat at the bar/kitchen and everyone without question was so welcoming and clearly wanted us to enjoy the evening - the chefs, waiting staff and the rest of the kitchen team. We had pork chop and halibut which were utterly delicious and the wine was wonderful too. Above all our wonderful waiter, Paola, was absolutely exceptional and made the evening for us, especially with food/wine recommendations.

We went here today. The staff were lovely and very attentive. The place has a great atmosphere and is very well decorated. It’s very pricey though which would be my main criticism and that’s even with London prices. My husband ordered a cider and a champagne flute came out which was less than half full! All we could think was, where’s the rest of it??!! That was £10. We only had starters and they were nice but not worth the price.

Wow! Our evening at Story Cellar was nothing short of spectacular. This place is a true gem, creatively combining classic dishes and fine wines with an innovative twist and an engaging, counter-style dining setup. The standout dish for us was undoubtedly the snail Bolognese on toast with garlic butter. As odd as it may sound, the fusion of flavours was an absolute delight for our palates, leaving us eager to delve into the rest of their extraordinary menu. But the real star of the show was the extraordinary selection of wines. We were genuinely impressed by the quality and range of fine wines on offer. As someone who appreciates a good glass of burgundy, being able to sample these rare and exceptional selections was a truly delightful and memorable experience. It's not every day that you have the opportunity to savour a glass of high-end wine that you might not be able to afford by the bottle. In short, Story Cellar is more than just a dining experience - it's a journey of taste and discovery. It's a place where food and wine enthusiasts can come together to share their passion in an atmosphere that's both relaxed and sophisticated. I cannot recommend it highly enough and am already looking forward to my next visit!

Fabulous experience at Story Cellar. Friendly welcome from staff and loved watching the talented chefs in the open kitchen. Delicious Burrata, wild garlic, girolles and burnt lemon pappardelle, and definitely recommend the bread and butter pudding with tonka and orange custard! A fast turn around but to be expected in that location so totally understandable. Shame to read other experiences did not match mine, but wonder if some opinions searched and focused on elements they didn’t like and failed to see or mention what they enjoyed, I think there is plenty to celebrate in this new restaurant x

On arrival, you’re promptly informed that service is swift and the table time allowance is 1.5 hours. Two of us eating, three shared dishes, three glasses of wine, £100 per head. All finished in 50 minutes. Just not on. Seating at the counter. The stools are fixed to the floor with no foot rungs. Feet are placed forward to a foot runner on the counter, so to be comfortable, you can only face in to the kitchen. Otherwise your feet dangle, and inevitably with stools, with no back, you slouch. Dishes. Snail bolognaise very tasty. Crab pasta, good, quite salty, and for us too much butter in the sauce and too thin. The pasta came clean out of the sauce, it didn’t hold or stick, so the sauce was left in the bowl. Half a roast chicken. Comes with chips and a bowl of salad. It’s chicken and chips. This restaurant did not deliver value for the price. It is not relaxing The experience is intense. We both had a sense of relief when we left.
