Whilst the food was good, the waitresses were unpleasant, two of them were quite rude so we felt awkward and on edge for most of the evening. We all live in London and frequent many top restaurants - i am an influencer who often reviews said venues, so it's shame this didn't live up to expectations as the food was very good."

Absolutely faultless. My Norwegian friend and I had a most delightful lunch. The food and wine were excellent and the service was informed and attentive. There are few better places to sit on a sunny Summer’s day than under the large red umbrellas at the Bistro. Ringed by Victorian warehouses, Bleeding Heart Yard forms a tranquil oasis from the City’s hustle and bustle. The menu offers plenty of choice while the service if efficient and friendly.

Booked a table here for 3pm but they actually close the kitchen then so you have to order before 3. Bit of a backstreet, scruffy place with a dark interior and uncomfortable chairs outside and wobbly tables. Food was ok but nothing special.

Every member of staff was kind and attentive. The utmost care was taken to make sure we had a lovely experience without feeling suffocated. The food was delicious, fresh and reasonably priced for quantity and quality. The ambiance is excellent as it give you the sense of being in a small French bistro somewhere of the beaten path as opposed to the middle of London. If there’s one thing I can recommend it’s to get the fries they are to die for!

Four of us came here at 7 pm on a weekday night. Lovely table in middle of restaurant. Great dinner. Key features: Steak tartare entree - delicious Soupe de poisson- not quite warm enough but delicious Fish cake-honestly the best I can ever remember tasting. Comes with béarnaise sauce. Total bargain at 17.50 Rabbit-my wife said it was better than similar offering at Bouchon Racine Steak frites- looked very good. Guests fully enjoyed. We had a bottle of crémant to start with which was good: but star was Diane de Belgrave 2015 which at £55 was good value. Superb service. Couldn't fault it. Came in at around £75 each which -with two bottles of wine - was pretty fine for London. Would definitely go again. BH has been going for years. A tad faded but still charming. And That fish cake !!

I visit here at least once a month most of the year so I don't review every meal, as it would get repetitive - it's always great, plus, I am a creature of habit and almost always start with the fish soup and extra rouille. However I had to give special praise to the set menu guinea fowl breast this evening, really delicious. The set menu chicken terrine also shone, with a tarragon sauce. The recently appeared ratatouille side too is exceptional, less swamped in sauce than a typical ratatouille and with a baked style to the vegetables. It's been a disappointing year for weather in London but this was the second perfect evening for dining outside in the courtyard, take a sweater as I did though for when the sun gets further down. Staff are always brilliant.

A lovely little gem tucked away in a courtyard in Farringdon. It's been a long time since I was able to find a place in London that still offers a classic dining experience that doesn't feel like it's blatantly trying too hard to drum up Tiktok hype, this restaurant felt pleasantly far from it. With traditional French bistro vibes, excellent service, a great atmosphere and delicious food, what's not to love. I'd highly recommend the set menu if you have trouble picking from such a large selection of great looking dishes. A standout favourite already, I'll be visiting again.

First things first, the Bleeding Heart Bistro is not the same as the Bleeding Heart Bar & Grill though they do sit just across the yard from each other. It’s amazing how many reviews here are written for the wrong venue… just make sure you know which venue you are actually going to/making a reservation for. The food was fantastic, with service friendly and welcoming; though the wait between our starter and mains was a full 50 minutes, which is a bit long to go on a bowl of soup. Not a place for a quick dinner, though in true French style I think they really want you to relax and enjoy the culinary experience so I wouldn’t hold it against them. Automatic points for the ancient yard location, lending a real olde London flavour to the atmosphere. They trade off the gruesome “history” of Bleeding Heart Yard on the front of the menu, though (spoiler!) Elizabeth Hatton is recorded as dying of natural causes. The actual “victim” in this very yard was a different Lady Hatton from a story published around 1837 involving a pact with the devil… Bleeding Heart Yard also features in Charles Dickens’s Little Dorrit as the home of the Plornish family. Imagine sitting here reading the novel over a glass of wine. Heating outdoor seating available in addition to the rustic wooden interior. If you found my review or photos helpful please leave a quick thumbs up 👍 Merci beaucoup!

This is one of my very favourite French bistros in London. It is completely authentic and is in a very historical part of the city. The service is consistently excellent. The food is exactly what you want from a French bistro - escargots (which my friend from France loved), Chateaubriand cooked to our requirements, tarte tatin to finish with. Great selection of reasonably priced wines too. Already looking forward to my next visit.

I liked everything about this restaurant - intimate, ambient & within a charming character building. Not to mention excellent service & great food. Additionally, there’s an attractive outdoor terrace for better weather days. Just 3 minutes walk from Farringdon tube, the Bistro is located in a historic yard just off Greville Road, around the corner from sister restaurant, Bleeding Heart Bar & Grill. The French inspired menu is fairly concise, offering a la carte & a set menu. At lunchtime the latter comes in at a very agreeable £34.50 for 3 courses. Every dish was tasty & superbly presented.

Went here for our first anniversary so understandably a bit biased, but regardless, the food and service are both superb. Attentive staff never let your glass remain empty for more than a minute. Excellent produce, perfect seasoning, comfortable portions, and ingredient pairings that make every subsequent bite more special. We had the steak tartare, the foie gras, the venison, seabass over risotto, buche de Noel (accompanied by a gorgeous glass of Sauternes) and the Armagnac creme brulée. Lovely, lovely, lovely. While my husband used the facilities, I asked the staff to write Happy Anniversary on his plate when they brought out his dessert; we received a plate that said Happy Birthday, which led to a very sweet (heh) final course where we laughed with the waitstaff, who could not apologise enough. A great memory!

Possibly the last warm evening of the year, overcast but perfect outside, all my favourites as good as ever: fish soup, duck liver terrine, lamb rump (still with the excellent slightly smoky aubergine pureé) and the always perfectly kept cheeses. Excellent and authentic food with enough atmosphere for the pre-theatre crowd (which included us). My partner was snapped at for trying to enter the restaurant 10 mins before official opening (the door was open). The red wine choice was unconvincing by the glass - white wine selection by the glass much better. Worth a try if you like French cuisine, though it is a little mixed with no real regional bias, so some French people might not like that and find it a little less authentic. Every single dish we had was great, however, and even the gluten free bread at the beginning was tasty. Recommended.

I was walking around the center and then suddenly found myself in this little yet quiet and adorable street full of little shops and restaurants. Needless to say that as soon as I saw this little gem of a wine house, I fell in love with it; a bit rustic and cosy, lovely wines at a great price (especially for being central London), friendly and efficient service. Cannot wait to try the brunch next Saturday!

This bakery is outstanding. The chocolate pistachio escargot was fantastic. The daily special was a fig walnut square (see picture) and it was absolutely phenomenal. The latte was good. The mushroom garlic emental (escargot?) was great as well. The neighborhood of Fitzrovia was great to walk through. The staff were fine, but could be a bit friendlier, I didn’t get a welcoming, service-oriented vibe from any of them.
